Besides their wonderful restaurant, they have the German specialty store! Both bring a little bit of Germany to Queens. The butcher shop is spectacular and immaculate. There are so many choices! Whether you're stopping in because you came for dinner next door, or you are looking for some authentic German goodies. You won't go wrong.

Great place to get all your German favorites. Everything is always fresh and top quality just like their restaurant next door. Especially love their sausage selection and you cant go wrong with whatever choice you make. Best German potato salad ever. Guys are great with any questions you may have. We're lucky to have a gem in Queens. Worth a trip from anywhere.

The store has great stuff from Germany. They speciality in pork and their pork products like ham and bacon are excellent. They prepare their own pork. Have not tried the sausages yet but pick up ham for making sandwiches for breakfast and smoked bacon to cook and have it with eggs. The quality is absolutely top notch. Their rye bread roll is one of the best I have had in New York and I am not really a fan of rye bread. The mustard is very good and the marzipan filled dark chocolate bars are so tasty. Have a sore throat? Have the eucalyptus cough drops they sell and it will soothe your throat. The store is pretty and well laid out. Love this place.

Picked up some weisswurst, spaetzle, black forest bacon and some dank German beer. Cured my homesickness a bit. Prost! Love this place.

Excellent butcher shop attached to the famous German restaurant. Honestly everything in here is top notch quality. Go-to items would be rye bread, fruit pies, roast beef, any of the hot dogs or sausages, burgers, beef stix. Just had the fruit pie for the first time today. It doesn’t look like much but it’s actually amazing! I don’t care for the strudel honestly but this was a once a week kind of item. Just a quick note - that many of the items in here are provided by the forest pork store. If you haven’t heard of it it’s a legendary pork store originally getting its name from forest ave in ridgewood. The main location is now Long Island, but they still occupy the original space on forest ave to make the products. Try some hot dogs one summer for grilling and you will be amazed. Update: the almond horn on the butcher counter is out of this world. It looks like it will be kind of bland and boring, but wow!! It’s kind of like a pignoli wrapped in shaved almonds and dipped in chocolate.

Fun German European deli and imported goods store. We discovered it about two months ago although it's been there for years. Good meat and deli counter with some strudels etc too and old Fashion potato, macaroni and coleslaw type offerings. Liver wurst, hams kind of like Karl Ehmers but more variety in the whole store. Lots of rye breads and really really good white and red sour kraut in two pound packages in the refrigerator case near the front of the store. We devoured them Over the course of a few meals last time. Kept meaning to go back for more but every time we passed the store it was Monday and they're closed on Monday. Today I made a special trip and just got the two kinds of sauerkraut and I'm going to make some sort of meat dish cooking sauerkraut ...should be yummy!

I really wanted to love this shop as much as I love the restaruant but I can’t shake that I felt like I just left a Disney amusement park once I got home. NYC has rich heritage with both Polish and German immigrants so there is no lack of AMAZING butcher shops in virtually every borough. This may be the best butcher in the area, I don’t know, but I do know there are better places to buy meet if you are willing to travel. The shop does feature a lot of package goods shipped directly from Germany so if that’s what you are looking for knock yourself out but I doubt that’s why you came here. That all said, I feel the Managment could do with a little team meeting. The staff when I was there Saturday at 2pm should have been a little bit more on the ball. I had to order twice as my butcher wasn’t paying attention and forgot half my order, I only ordered four things. The sausages I ordered should be ok but after closer inspection it may be a day or two away from peak freshness, meaning freeze or cook ASAP. Potato salad was good. Sauerkraut was an upsell, I only wanted 1 lb and guy convinced me to get a 2lb bag. I think it has bacon in it, maybe that’s a thing but I’ve never had bacon in my sauerkraut so, not my cup of tea. #fail. I also picked up one of those oversized pretzels mostly as a gift for a friend of my daughter. I’m used to slightly more sour pretzels, this was browned white bread. Kids liked it so, who am I to complain. In the end, I would say, the restaruant is AMAZING. Shop, could use a refresh with a little more German spirit, quality and credibility.

Great german butcher and grocery. Best meat and sausage selection I've seen in NYC so far. I wished they had some more cheeses (Harzer comes to mind) and sweets (actually good Lebkuchen!) but they focus on meats and there they are excellent. Not in any way affordable, but if you have a hankering for liver- or blood sausage you get what you pay for.

This was our second time visiting this establishment & we are looking forward to the next time! First off let me complement the staff. Everyone was nice and checked on us in a timely manner. Second the food both times we visited was DEE-LISH. Atmosphere is what I'd expect from a German restaurant. Beautiful. Two thumbs all the way up!

Another fabulous meal and wonderful dining experience at Zum Stamtisch! We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the place was filled, but within a half hour we were seated. Cold Hofbrau beers to start, followed by my 2 favorites, the Deutscher Salat and the kaiserspatzle. You can not go wrong with either. The special on this day was bone in goose with homemade stuffing and we had to try it! Amazing!! As this was our first time having goose, we do did not know what to expect. It tasted similar to turkey but not exactly. We did not find it gamey at all, it was moist and flavorful. The stuffing was the perfect pairing and it tasted phenomenal. The red cabbage was sooo darned good. Apple strudel for dessert. Service was quick, friendly and on point. Really such a lovely place to gather, relax and enjoy some German cuisine. Excellent food but more than anything great customer experience! Yesterday, my party of 9 (!) from all across the tri-state area met at 4:30 at our intended venue only to discover a burst pipe closed the restaurant! We quickly pivoted and remembered Zum's was nearby. A quick conversation with the hostess explaining our situation-- she worked a little magic and VOILA! we were seated and enjoying goulash by 5 pm. No easy feat but she made it happen. Riesling schnitzel was great, chicken cutlets were delicious and the bauernplatte was excellent. Really a festive evening that exceeded expectations. Man it feels like you are in a different world! It's a Queens institution and it should be celebrated as such, it's a restaurant that has been open for 50 years and I hope it continues to stay open for another 50 years. The decor is amazing, it really feels like you stepped into Bavaria. Also, don't forget to stop by the connecting butcher shop, get there early because they only open during the day. I would love to go back for a daily special from the prime rib to the duck to the fried pork knuckle. The food: To start, we had two orders of potato pancake(not on the menu) and an order of Käsespätzle which is like a noodle mac and cheese with bacon. Sweet baby Jesus was the Käsespätzle good but it was heavyyyyyyy, thank god we shared it amongst 7 people. The Christmas Goose Dinner was absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS!!! Flavorful, juicy, and quite filling....but we still had desserts 'n coffee.... My family raved about the food, decor, and service. A Great Spot for Holiday Get-togethers!!!

What is this place ? Why is it so packed? Why is it such a happy jolly place with fun people to speak with? For the most part, the SO was smart enough to think a liter was the copper mug but boy was he so wrong and we ended up paying the price by downing a liter of beer each (3/4 for myself). Good beer good vibes, food spectacular. Just get what everyone else is getting ! The schnitzel and brats were delicious. Would come again, easy parking on Sunday !

This place is always a go-to. Amazing food, amazing beer, amazing atmosphere. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favorite is always the Jaegerschnitzel. The service is always great too. I've been here more times than I can count and I've never had a bad experience. Some of the best German food outside of Germany!

We used to go to this restaurant a lot when my son lived in Astoria. Since he moved to Brooklyn we haven't visited in a long time. It was on a return trip from a cemetery visit in Queens that my son remembered how much I enjoyed the food. It was the dinner choice that evening. Oh, how I love German food. I have always attributed it to my one German line, my Great Grandmother's entire line. I have her exact face. So I'm certain my German genes are in charge. This restaurant is popular even at a very early time for dinner. The ambiance was perfect. I wanted to walk around the restaurant & view every inch of the very German decor. So that's just what I did. The food was just as I remembered, with a wide range of authentic choices. Of course I chose the Sauerbraten with Dumplings & Red Cabbage. Why would I have picked anything else? And their Apple Strudel is to die for. My Vegan turned Vegetarian son wasn't able to take advantage of the most wonderful menu choices. But his restaurant choice to please Mom made me very happy. After dinner we spent a lot of time in the section of the store that is basically a German grocery & meat market. My first choice was a jar of the Red Cabbage. Knowing that my bacon loving Grandson would be with us for the weekend, my son chose hand sliced bacon from the meat market. Both were delicious when consumed. We left with me a happy person. It won't be as long before we return.

Food, staff, service, drinks, comfort, atmosphere all AMAZINGGGG! They do not hold back on their drinks like some establishments do. Reasonable prices for the fare they provide and drinks they serve. There's not a good enough reason not to come!

First of all I came here 3 times already and I'm always happy. The food is amazing! I first started with the giant pretzel. It comes with 3 different sauces but my favorite is the spicy mustard. My husband got the goulash soup. I had a bite of it and I wish I would've ordered it. Then for the entree I had the chicken cutlet with home fries and my husband had the jaegerschnitzel with home fries and red cabbage and spaetzle. For dessert I had the ny cheesecake and my husband had the Schwarzwälder Kirsch Torte (chocolate layer cake with sour cherries and whipped cream). I also had 2 amazing cocktails! The service was fast and accurate. Everybody is friendly here. The ambiance is amazing. So inviting!

So my first time at Zum Stammtisch, and it' was absolutely the most delicious thing I ever tasted! It was a special it is called Rouladen amd I will remember that dish forever! Coffee and dessert weee as perfect. The whole. Experience was all around perfect!

Best German Resterant in Wueens and Long Island, food is unbelievable! The service is superb too. The Ambiance is second to Villiage Lantern in Amityville, just because they do German music time to time. But ide give it 5 stars.

Without question, the best German restaurant I've ever been to, bar none. The service is top notch, the food is authentic, delicious and plentiful. The beer menu is everything you could wish for and the ambiance makes you feel like you're in a real German brauhaus. I just won't bother with any other German restaurant, because I can't imagine there's a better experience.

I am hoping the restaurant owner reads this. I have been going to Zums for literally decades. Even now when I've moved out to Nassau county and before this when I lived in Babylon in Suffolk. Zums is always worth the trip. Usually I get either the sausage platter or the wiener schnitzel. I should just stick to what I know. Today, I decided to have the sauerbraten. I dont know why but it just seemed right at the time. I am asking, of the owner, to PLEASE really marinate the meat, as it says on your menu. The meat is obviously not marinated, as I took a piece from the bottom to taste without the gravy. It's not tart. It's not sour. It's good but does not hold up to sauerbraten. The gravy was perfect but that seems to be the meats disguise. The meat should be marinated. I dont know why Zums wouldn't do that. It's really not hard to do. If not for the gravy, the sauerbraten would have to be listed on the menu as pot roast. I don't need to drive 32 miles to Zums for pot roast. I can get that locally. It pains me to write a review of 3 stars to what once was my favorite 5 star restaurant in New York. Please reconsider sour gravy on pot roast. The meat needs to be marinated (as you know because it's on your menu) before the gravy is put on. Thank you.

This place is consistently delicious. The start you off with a tasty bread loaf and butter. I'd honestly just go here for a loaf of bread and a beer. But no no, i always order something :) I ordered the Huhn Jagerschnitzel - I love that they have a bar portion which is half the size of the regular plate. I still couldn't finish it! Thick juicy piece of breaded chicken with a savory mushroom gravy. Their homefries are also really good. The other item we usually order is the gulash! It's a thick beef stew type soup and it alawys hits the spot!

Came here on a Saturday around 4:45pm for a party of 2. The ambience was beautiful and very cozy. I would say it takes a while to be acknowledged while you're waiting at the front to be seated, but after you are tended to the service was fantastic. For appetizer, we ordered the bacon bread dumplings. They were flavorless and had an ok texture. The only flavor came from the pieces of bacon that came with it on the side and the sauce that it had was too garlicky. For the main course my husband ordered the Sauerbraten with home fries and red cabbage and I ordered the Hühnerjäger (it came with home fries) and I ordered a side of sauerkraut. My husband said that his Sauerbraten came in a generous portion, and had a great sweet and sour balanced flavor. It was flavorful and rich, had a hint of sweetness and a balancing acidity that you would want in this dish. The meat was extremely tender and fell apart with only a fork. The red cabbage was a bit soft but he thinks that's the style of the dish. It was both sweet and sour like the sauerbraten so he was not sure it was the ideal side for this dish. He also said the potatoes were great, but that he needed to add a bit of salt and that they were cooked perfectly. The Hühnerjäger came with a heavy sauce and mushrooms. The pieces of chicken breast, had a good texture (crispy but soft). The flavor was simple but tasty. The home fries were perfectly crisp and the sauerkraut was good. The portion for this dish was also generous. Overall, it is a very cozy and warm experience with very comforting foods and good portions.

Traditional German restaurant in the heart of Glendale Queens. It is dimly lit with wood decor. We came here for a birthday dinner for 8 people. We were promptly seated. Our server was a little dry and serious for our taste however the busboy was extremely friendly and attentive. Food was plentiful and good. We started off with the giant pretzel, goulash soup and mixed green salad. The drinks were nice and strong we got an old fashioned and a pink champagne margarita. For our main entrees we were kind of full already but they were very big portions. Overall we enjoyed the dinner but would have preferred friendlier service from our server.

I'd rate Zum Stammtisch three and a half stars. Came for an early dinner. Got a stein of Hofbrau light lager to start with. Hit the right spot. Great texture to the beer and served in a bulky half liter mug. I opted for the Thursday special which was a veal cutlet served in an ultra sweet sauce with mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers. Served over a bed with extra crispy sliced potatoes and a side of sautéed cabbage. Service was very quick. The interior is dark and we'll insulated making the temperature super cool. Gendered restrooms in the basement. They had a beer garden but advised they were having a wasp problem at the time.

Mugs of beer and huge plates of food, what's not to love? Started with the beer, made the mistake of ordering a liter instead of 0.5L since I wanted to try more of what was on tap. The kasespatzle was a little under seasoned, but mix in the pieces of bacon and it was good. The wurstplatte was great and don't forget to try the mustard to cut down on the richness of the dish. But my favorite was the reislingschnitzel. Huge crispy breaded cutlet and a nice savory sauce. The fried potatoes underneath are completely hidden, but are a great side. Go hungry, leave sleepy and satisfied!

I must say, after not returning to Zum Stammtisch For a couple years, I have recently had the opportunity to go back in June 20 24 and I must say the food and service was just as good as the first time I went. This place runs like a fine German clock.

I lived near here most of my childhood and am now in Florida. Every time I come to NY, this is the only A-List restaurant. I love everything about this restaurant.

The food is great here. We especially like the steak, prime rib, red cabbage, Home fried potatoes. There are many other options.

What can I say about Zum Stmmtisch that has not been said 100+ times already. I was here for dinners many year's ago but recently attended a The Kiwanis Club of Glendale's meeting here. WOW, am I glad I did. This spot is awesome. Parking can be a little challenging but luckily we found a spot right across the street. It is a charming old school setting when you walk in and the servers are all dressed in uniform, not jeans and any shirt. The dark wood walls are so old school. It makes the place special. We went by the bar and you could see the volume of beers on tap and imported. Crazy-huge selection. Since we were a group of 35-40 you pick the placemat that signifies the dish you're having. This saves the time of the waitresses going to each person and taking an order. We all got the same soup and dessert. I went with red mat for the Jaeger Schnitzel and my friend went with the pork chops. The food is magnificent. I love Jaeger (veal) Schnitzel and the way it's served with some gravy (rich and full of flavors) and potatoes makes it perfect. An ultra large portion but I managed to put it all away. My friend's pork chops were also LARGE and juicy and tasty and he had to take some home Loved the strudel at the end and went home stuffed. This was quite the lunch. I highly recommend that everyone comes here at least once. But, I'm sure after one try, you'll comeback. I haven't had this good German food since the Luchows on 14th Street days. Zum Stammtisch is Glendale's best kept secret. I like introducing people to this spot because it's literally like time traveling into some small town in Germany. I adore it. The people I take here, I know are gonna love it. My roommate is from the Midwest and literally blew her mind when we went. Just took my friend from Seattle here last night. And she was still raving about it today. The details of this restaurant are truly beautiful. It's always families celebrating some grandparents birthday. Because there's no subway, you rarely bump into the hipsters. It adds to the charm here. Anytime I come, I always feel welcome. Last night our waitress was a doll. She took so many photos for us. She never rushed us and helped us have a great experience. Don't judge our gluttonous order. We had to try the large pretzel. We both loved the sweet mustard and the horseradish cream dip.I then got the spätzle without bacon and the German salads. The salad has beets, carrots and cucumbers. The spätzle was cheesy perfection. My friend got pork chops! They were gigantic!!! She fell in love with the restaurant last night. Our pilsners were a nice light comparison to our decadent food. Even though the restaurant was almost closing, we were still offered dessert but we were busting at the seams. Our waitress said her hot tip is to order dessert first! Ha! Next time. Prost!

Old school German food that's still done with tradition and quality. Would definetly recommend for a fun time not so much a date night as it can get pretty loud. But the food and energetic atmosphere always make this a great time.

This restaurant is wonderful. My complaint is with the so called butcher. I always enjoy going next door and buying way too much stuff. I was shocked today when I ordered a 6 chop loin of pork and was told the machine is down. What machine? Do butchers never use knives any more. The clerk clearly not a butcher looked at the long rib of pork like as of it would Instruct him how to comply with my request. I wanted to tell him to give me a "Butchers" knife and I would do it myself. It was satisfying enough to walk away knowing how much they would have charged me. Probably more than 100.00. Don't call it a butcher when there is none present. Get with it. Love the restaurant I hope they don't follow suit.

I have been coming here for at least 40 years. There is such a comfort factor. The menu has been consistent and tasty. The prices ok but considering the portions it works. The bar area is large and comfortable while waiting to be seated. You will always feel welcome and leave full & satisfied

What a fantastic place. The food is consistently great, the place is cute and cozy (although, can be quite a long wait). The Chicken Jager dish is my go-to. The portions are huge- I usually take half home. Parking around the area isn't terrible but it's not great. Go early so you don't stress yourself out.

Quaint interior decorated space in German style. Although it needs a good dusting. The restaurant is connected to its German pork and grocery store through an inner hallway next to it's bar. Street parking is a bit difficult to find. There are two dining rooms with the one we were in having perhaps 14 tables and 6 booths. There is also another private party space that we did not see. There is a straight bar where patrons get to enjoy watching sports. Service was timely. We had several items: 1. Chicken Jaegerschnitzel - great (huge portion) 2. Vennerschitzel - - great (large portion) 3. German salad - same as you would get at Juniors for free but here it will cost you and without pickles 4. German potato pancakes - very crispy but tasty 5. Red cabbage - mixed I liked it, my partner - not) 6. Spinach - very good 7. Black Forest cake made with Schwartzwalder - fantastic 8. Bread - mixed (I thought a bit heavy, hard, and lacking taste; my partner thought okay Both entrees were serviced on a bed of scalloped potatoes - excellent. It seems like they have their regulars who go there frequently to socialize in small groups or couples - mostly seniors (day time). Food came out in reasonable (not fast but acceptable) time. Prices are moderate but portions on entrees are immense so it's like getting two meals in one. I watched every group leave with minimum of at least one carrying a take out leftovers. We both had as well. If you enjoy German food, like a casual atmosphere and haven't stopped dining out due to higher restaurant prices you should give this a try. Absolutely delicious! Worth the long drive from New Jersey! The goulash was delicious, the steak tartare was excellent and the Lebercase Holstein was exceptional!

Ever since traveling to Germany, I've been looking for a Radler that lives up to those I had there - and I finally found that at Zum Stammtisch. So refreshing and the perfect complement for any meal. The bread to start was delicious - perfect crisp outside and chewy inside. The giant pretzel was tasty as was the horseradish dipping sauce. I had the chicken version of the jagerschnitzel and the sauce was phenomenal and chicken cooked to perfection. As someone who doesn't eat bacon though, I wish the mashed potatoes with bacon that came with the dish was listed on the menu so I could fully enjoy my dish and substitute out the side. The apple streusel and sour cherry chocolate cake were both out of this world desserts. Great vibes, attentive service, and amazing beer - all in all a great place.

This is literally one of my favorite places to go ever. If I am ever trying to sell one of my friends on the neighborhood that I live in, I always tell them that they can come to visit me by going to the German restaurant in my neighborhood first. This place is iconic. The food is incredible. The services really good. You really cannot miss when visiting here. when you walk in you feel here in another country immediately. It's honestly such a hidden gem.

The Black Forest cake may be the best I had since 1982. WOW are they really good at baking. So much better than Venieros. Thank you so much.

Places like this are the reason I miss Queens so much. We last came in on Wednesday at lunchtime so it was super quiet. We were able to sit at the table and enjoy our food without being rushed. We all ordered schnitzel and it was great as usual!

This place has been here since I could remember. Well known German restaurant! If you love German food this place is a must! Dark atmosphere, friendly staff, parking is a little difficult but worth the hunt!

We stopped in with friends on this Tuesday afternoon and as usual one of the best German meals you will find anywhere!! I ordered the wurst plate large order 3 wursts a knock, Brat and Krainworst all delicious served with authentic German potato salad and the best kraut you will ever have!! The Oktoberfest was excellent I even took a growler home after visiting the shop next door!! Just a great afternoon and we will return in a few weeks!!!

Visited this restaurant with my family that were six of us in total we had a wonderful meal. Good beer always always enjoy the goulash soup reminds me of my husband's grandmother's cooking from Germany and I love the atmosphere. It's old-time Germany without being corny it was worth the trip from Long Island.

We went this past Saturday. The food was phenomenal. A good friend of mine recommended it to me. Now mind you she was last there over 20 years ago when she still lived in NY. I'm happy we finally took the drive in. We were not disappointed with anything. The food, service and ambiance were fantastic.

We came in with a large party and were seated promptly. Service was flawless with the owner checking with us to make sure all was good. I've never had German food before but what I had I loved. The portions are huge and can easily feed two. Overall a really nice experience

Good basic German. Not the absolute best ever, but really good. Would eat here again and again. Fast service, tasty wursts, nice beir choices. The only negative- a smidge too expensive.
