I saw this newly-opened restaurant on Instagram and as a appetizer lover, I was drooling while scanning the menu. There were so many unique and delicious small bites that caught my attention! My husband and I took our first opportunity to drop the kids off at day camp and drive the 45 minutes for a lunch date.
The building is beautifully remodeled and the atmosphere is cozy. For a Thursday, it was fairly busy and we were seated about 20 minutes after we arrived.
Our waitress was friendly but the entire service was exceptionally slow. We waited a good hour for the four appetizers we ordered to arrive, even though we watched literally everyone seated after us get their food first. We're patient and understand that they're a newer restaurant so I'm not even knocking them for this, my issue was the food was just....not good...
-Blue Cheese Sweet Potato Chips: These were SO soggy. Not a single crispy chip on the plate. They arrived in a manner that I would expect to find them in a styrofoam to-go container the next day, straight out of the fridge. They were soggy, chewy, and you were unable to dip them in the container of blue cheese dip because they were so floppy. The dip was really greasy and tasted more of Sherry wine than blue cheese.
-Chargrilled Peaches with goat cheese, arugula, toasted pecans, and hot honey drizzle: This was about the only decent thing we ordered. It had good flavor but the peaches were hard and for $8, I don't think I even got a whole peach.
-Street Tacos with pulled pork, cojita cheese, cilantro slaw, chipotle aioli: The flavor was decent but there wasn't enough slaw to taste and it was absolutely drowning in aioli. The kicker was that the two tacos came in corn tortillas that were not warmed at all. They were dry and cracking as picked them up.
-Roasted Green Tomato and Goat Cheese Dip with blue corn tortilla chips: I was most excited for this but it was just kind of bland. Maybe some kind of aioli/chutney drizzled on top or actual fried green tomato pieces would help? It was okay but wouldn't think about again.
For a $60 lunch, we left hungry and feeling like we would've been happier at McDonalds. I hate to say it, but it was just a big disappointment.
