a neighborhood staple, and a regular part of my week, the proprietor is kind and sunny and makes a damn good cortado! I also recently noticed they even do smaller batched "regular coffee," so even the most basic cup isn't just sitting around reheating in a big thermal tank all day, which I appreciate! They serve Sightglass beans and Art of Tea(s) for anyone who cares about that sort of thing. I also recently noticed the surrounding buildings have been doing some remodeling, possibly preparing for new tenants and we must protect Standing Egg!! I hope their landlord doesn't start acting funny and price them out like the landlords did over at Say Cheese (RIP). /rant

If you are visiting (tourist) this is a MUST STOP! If you are a local like myself... We're blessed! 🙏🏽 I have been to sooooo many bakeries, coffee shops and their almond croissants are one of a kind!! Do yourself a favor and have a try. Nicely baked, buttery rich croissant. Amazing Standing Egg Team! Enjoy!

Local coffee shop with plenty of options for dietary accommodations. I came on a Saturday morning and found plenty of parking in the free lot. I also ordered and picked up my coffee in a few minutes. The staff are friendly and the location is convenient to do a quick coffee stop while out running errands in Silverlake.

Rude, lazy, and slow service. Why pay tip or even pay for a bagel if the cream cheese isn't even spread on the bagel and the customer has to do it themselves? The bagel was barely toasted and the cream cheese was just a container on the side. We pay for service, not ingredients. Would be cheaper and faster to go to a grocery store. Not to mention cashier whispering with a mask and plexiglass in front of him—impossible to hear. etc. etc.

Coffee was excellent, very strong! One of the best iced oat milk lattes I’ve had! The food was great, I had the bagel with a garlic and germ cream cheese, really great. There really aren’t any tables to sit at besides a bench so I had to eat in my car.

Such a sweet coffee shop, seems to be a mother and son working together. One of the best lattes I’ve ever had!!

I haven't experienced a wait anytime I've visited. Nothing pretentious here, just friendly staff, great coffee and large delicious avacado toast (among some other choices.)

One of my fave cafes! I just moved from the Silverlake but everytime I'm in the area I make it a point to stop by It's a lil family owned joint with strong, flavorful coffee. They recently added cold foam cream to their menu and it's soooo tasty! I always get the vanilla - lavender latte and it comes sprinkled with lemon it's not too sweet either! I wouldn't come here if you want a ~vibe to work or study as it's a pretty small space. But coffee is delicious and there's a parking lot in front.

Latte was average--bean quality average Almond croissant was good--on the rich side (butter/sugar etc). no option to warm the pastries Service--a problem. Empty cafe...Older lady barista (business owner) received latte order from cashier and had her hands on the machine waiting for me to withdraw payment from wallet, watching me like a hawk. I noticed, felt a little uneasy, but continued. once i moved the credit card over the sensor pad, she started moving her hands again to make my order. The first time the payment didn't go through, so she abruptly stopped. it was painful. I passed it a second time and when she heard the beep, she started making it again WTF. Insulting and rude. a business that doesn't trust its customers doesn't deserve my money. i choose to not return to the standing egg.

I just needed some coffee and was running late to work, craving an iced Americano. As I drove, I stumbled upon this little coffee shop that turned out to be a fantastic find! The coffee was excellent, but the real star was the ham croissant filled with strawberry jelly--absolutely heavenly. The prices were reasonable, comparable to Starbucks, which is impressive for a place in Silverlake. We really need to support these hidden gems; there are so many amazing spots out there that we overlook in favor of big chains. I can't wait to go back--I've found my new favorite coffee place! Oh and service was great! 5/5

Been here a couple times and it always seems closed or about to be as I've never seen anyone else in here. There are a few tables but it doesn't really have a stick around and hang out vibe. The coffee is fine, but not particularly memorable.

The matcha here is 10/10!! It doesn't even need to be sweetened, their unsweetened matcha is amazing!! Also the standing egg bagel is a must try. The staff are all so kind and you can tell they put a lot of care into all of their products. Would definitely recommend standing egg!

Today I secretly enjoyed a vanila latte and a vegan chocolate donut. Great little spot and very friendly. It's easy to be friends with me because even though I am so secretive- I can't help but ask too many questions. I also just spilled my free water all over myself into the secret area. I'm sorry. I'll get some more coffee to spill on myself to even out the temperature. I do love every different drink I get here. Sorry again. Thank you.

Perfect froth in my latte and a glorious avocado toast (pea shoots and the little bit of crunchy from the red chili flakes) made my day as I procrastinated going to where I needed to really go. Godzilla collectibles line the shelves, in between displays of coffees beans and mugs with a swanky piano compilation playing. The perfect neighborhood coffee shop.

Cute cafe spot in the corner of silver lake with a parking lot at your convenience. It seemed like there were regular customers which is a good sign that their coffee is good. My coffee was delicious and strong. The customer service was very friendly~ I hope they do well! I will come back to check out their other coffees.

One of my favorite cafes to go to!!! The coffee and other drinks are so good here and the owner and workers are so friendly whenever I come. I got their matcha latte with their new cold foam cream and their cream top is one of the best I've had in LA. I also tried their seasonal drink a peppermint mocha latte and it was a perfect mix of peppermint, chocolate and coffee and it felt perfect for the holiday vibes. I highly recommend coming here for your morning coffee.

Standing Egg Coffee is a small corner coffee shop located in a small plaza on Rowena and Hyperion avenue in SilverLake neighborhood of LA. It's interior space is sparse with polished grey stone wall and floors with a neon sign message and few plants, respectively. Furthermore, they have a long wooden bar table and seats inside for those who want to chill. It's my first time visiting this cafe. I came early Wednesday (12/2morning. I was warmly and ebulliently greeted by a middle aged male barista. They have a good and modest selection of drinks albeit scant. Similarly, they offer light breakfast such as donuts, Avocado Toast etc. I decided to order a unique hot drink that I haven't had before; thus, I selected a Lavander Latte. And guess what? It was a lovely drink and perfectly brewed that my palate was stimulated. Prices were fair and competitive. Service was outstanding and on point. Staff were cordial and professional. Parking space was limited but easy to park in the morning. Overall, I enjoyed my latte and experience. I highly recommend this coffee shop.

This is my every day coffee shop! Yumi makes me feel like a real special customer and makes my coffee the way only my mom can make. Super comforting space with the best coffee around.

Standing Egg Coffee is my favorite coffee in Silver Lake! In my opinion the espresso, drink size, and taste are better than any new cafes opening around Hyperion. You've also got to try their almond croissants warmed up. Vibes are pretty peaceful and minimal. There are a few small tables and standing bar room to chill, so it's not really a work/study space- more for a quick bite or drink and chat. It has a small parking lot that usually doesn't get too full since most people are in & out of the plaza pretty quickly. The owner is so sweet and remembered my usual order (which might be a sign I'm spending too much on coffee) but this place is too great!

Debatably one of the best coffee shops in Atwater/Los Feliz. Severely underrated and with the best service and attention to detail. If I could give them six stars I would.

My absolute favorite coffee shop! The service is incredible and the owners always greet me with a smile and have even remembered my usual order every time. They also have a great selection of vegan donuts and their ham croissant is always delicious and ready quickly. This is my go to spot to take friends and family when they are in town and I've even gotten texts from them after they've left saying "need some standing egg right now" The coffee is so delicious!

I LOVE STANDING EGG! I go almost every morning :) I love visiting Yumi. She makes me laugh and is always so kind. Definitely recommend trying their different drinks! They're all delicious and the best pick me up.

This is a great neighborhood coffee shop. I love that they are dog friendly too. I come here multiple times a week and get my coffee and bagel & cream cheese. Plenty of parking, kind workers, & good food/coffee. Oh, and treats for the dogs! There is a place to sit or stand depending on the morning...but most of the time I got to head out to work. This is not one of those big chain coffee shops. Take a moment to get to know the people behind the counter. They are here to make your morning a little better if you let them.

I love this place so much. Strongest cold brew in Silverlake without hurting your stomach. Great pastries and service. Plus my dog loves theirs treats. Umi is the best - friendly, attentive, knows your order.

Was craving a post run latte and found Standing Egg via the Yelp app of course. Cute little shop tucked in a small plaza off Hyperion and Rowena in the Los Feliz area. Plenty of parking was available at the time that we arrived. It was nice not to have to drive in circle to find parking. Local roaster alert. Love when coffee shops have their own roasts to purchase if we fall in love and want to brew at home. The artsy minimalist vibe was very pleasing. Smooth jazz played in the background, great lighting, and bonus points for decorating with live plants. I ordered a Vanilla Latte. I had just had breakfast so I didn't get a chance to try any pastries. There was only one woman manning the shop so she hand crafted my coffee as soon as she took my order. My drink was up shortly after and it was delicious. Had a strong roasted flavor that may have been in part from the almond milk and part from their expresso. I love it either way. Dog friendly: treats available in a canister by the door. Vegan friendly: Vegan donuts and pastries available.

My favorite coffee shop I live nearby and since day one they've always treated me and other customers as genuine friends. So personable!!! The music is always the perfect coffee shop jazz. I come in to do writing or just hang out. My boyfriend is obsessed with their ham and cheese croissant! They will always have my service :)

Standing Egg is exactly what you want in a coffee shop. Yumi, the owner, always greets you with a smile, and even remembers her guest's orders, which makes you feel warm and welcome. And on top of that, the coffee is EXCELLENT. If you want to support a small business that appreciates their customers, you've found the right place!

While the food was nourishing, it was mediocre at best. We had avocado toasts for $12.50 each and opted to add the boiled egg for $1.50 extra. The egg was very very hard boiled, revealing a gray rim around the chalky yolk. There are no other options for eggs on the menu so this must be the eponymous ovoid. Given that it was served in a single serving plastic ramekin with a lid, and despite being sliced, it could easily be stood upright. Just trying to Sherlock Holmes my way into understanding how they landed on this name. We asked for some much needed salt and pepper, both came in single serving plastic ramekins with lids. Everything is disposable. A garbage can was found with a bit of a search. The americano I ordered was made from very dark roasted coffee. It was indistinguishable from a drip brewed pump carafe from the 7-11 across the street. Everything in the establishment is filthy. Large mounds of dust, crumbs, detritus, and otherwise are accumulated everywhere. There isn't enough seating for the tables so we had to hunt down a stool for our wobbly two top. Though it was not busy, the service left us feeling like we were an inconvenience. I'm giving this two stars because ultimately they did serve everything as described and the food was edible while lackluster at best.

I really wanted this to be a good experience. I ordered two ice lattes and a croissant. I got the croissant but not my lattes. The older lady said this is your drink so I took it, took a sip of it and waited for my second. I asked the lady at the register if my second drink was coming, and then she said that is not your drink, which confused me and angered me because the people who ordered after me had already gotten their drinks. I had been waiting for a while. I told her I didn't want anything. I had a sick child in the car and I had to leave. She didn't apologize. I didn't get my drinks, but I will not be going back there. They were rude, unprofessional but the coffee they told me was mine was good, whosoever drink I got.

Been here a few times and every visit has been super friendly and welcoming! This is a warm and friendly mom & pop shop. The standing egg bagel is surprisingly good. The specialty lattes are perfectly balanced and not too sweet! Vegan donuts were so pretty, I had to get one. I'm not a vegan, but they were decent.

If you want a major energy boost, this is the place. I got an iced vanilla oat latte and it was just what I needed. The coffee here is strong. I'm usually not a person who likes super strong coffee but it was well balanced and didn't need any sugar. I was driving and I was at a red light when I saw this place. It worked out well because I needed a pick-me-up and wowza, it did exactly that! There is a parking lot and there were a bunch of parking spaces available, which was great. Nice employee and the sign inside: "I had too much to dream last night" is great!

I've been to many coffee shops - this is really my favorite one! I always get my Caramel Latte here and they make it the best - the coffee is strong and creamy with a slightly sweeter flavor. Most coffee places I've been to, they tend to over sweetened their coffee drinks, it's like drinking syrup...but not here at Standing Eggs! They make their own sauce and it is perfectly sweetened without overpowering the coffee drinks. Today, I saw an act of kindness from the owner Umi. As a lady with a baby in a stroller leaving the shop, she ran to the door and opened it for them! So sweet of her! When you are kind to others, it not only changes you, it changes the world!

Standing Egg Coffee is an amazing little coffee shop with the best staff! I wish that it was open back when I lived in the neighborhood (circa 2014-2016) - it would have been a perfect pit stop on my daily dog walks. Thankfully I had continued going to my vet for a few years after moving out of the neighborhood (RIP original ownership of the Village Vet!!). I was grateful that I could enjoy a delicious cup of coffee either before/after our vet visits, or even during the pandemic when we weren't allowed inside the vet, I could grab some coffee and a pastry and eat in my car. I've tried a few of their lattes, and I did keep coming back to the lavender latte. They do a wonderful job of balancing the lavender and coffee - it's never overpowering. The coffee itself is always beautifully brewed, never overextracted. I also do enjoy their selection of pastries. Unfortunately, I switched vets, so it seems like I won't be stopping by anytime soon, but if I'm ever in the neighborhood, I will be sure to support this awesome small business!

This place is such an amazing little coffee place. Airs like a hidden gem. We stopped here for a quick breakfast. The cappuccino was one of the best cappuccino's I have had in a long time. It was strong enough and hot! Really good. We also had everything bagel with garlic cream cheese, avocado toast. Everything was very tasty and freshly made. The staff is exceptional, sweet and service is top notch. Has small seating area inside and also allowed our dog.

Good coffee but they've stopped letting customers use of the restroom which I believe isn't legal. And for a coffee shop plainly cruel.

Our post hike coffee place this week is Standing Egg Coffee. There is a small parking lot in the plaza. I ordered a lavender ice latte and the flavor was not as strong as I would like.

Standing egg is the best! Youmi is the kindest woman and is fantastic at getting to know her customers. The croissants and avocado toast are impeccable and the coffee is superb. One of the only places to serve real cold brew! Will always make a point to stop by and visit the lovely team at Standing Egg.

I got a lavender latte & my partner got a maple latte. It was super refreshing on a 90 degree day. Service was friendly and fast - we got our coffee within a couple minutes of ordering. There are a few tables but it was mostly standing room. Lots of art inside to look at while waiting. Parking was not to difficult. I parked on the street but there is a lot in front of the lot.

Came here on a raining LA day. There's seating and standing only room with good jazz music in the background. I got my drink pretty quick!

Standing egg is the best! Yumi serves up the best coffee, and frankly, I'm addicted to the almond croissants as well! She is the sweetest and most generous barista I think I've ever encountered! I hope you find your way to this place instead of Starbucks and other alternatives, because this Mom and Pop, coffee shop is miles above any other coffee shops and chain coffee in the neighborhood. It has a great vibe with its modern decor and the Godzilla behind the counter.

The perfect coffee. I love it here. So much better than anything else in the area that has a line out the wazoo. I get a quad iced latte and the only bad thing is that I can't enjoy anything below their quality. Nothing tastes like this place.

Noticeably superior quality coffee, well-curated selection of choice pastry (croissants, muffins) and light meals (I had the avocado toast with a hard boiled egg). Cordial, fast service. Clean, open, environment. Drawbacks? No internet access. However, not all coffee shops have to be set up to encourage us to sit, stay, and work. I selfishly wish they were, only because I enjoy the space so much!

After browsing through Yelp reviews for this place, I ordered a hot Lavender Latte with oat milk. I really liked it! It was definitely sweeter than I'd usually prefer, but it wasn't awful. In fact, I'd come back and order this again if there weren't already at least 2 other drinks I still want to try! The lavender flavor was pretty strong in the beginning, but the amount of sweetness kind of took over and ultimately became this sweet blended drink. My boyfriend ordered a regular Latte and was honestly not a fan (he also wasn't a fan of the Lavender Latte after tasting mine), but this is my review, and this is a small business, AND if I'm not mistaken women owned...and I really liked my drink! Why the 4 stars then? Mainly the price and because I feel like I haven't gotten a full taste of what they have to offer...yet. I really want to try their food as well as how they make a basic pour over. While the Lavender Latte was good, I'd prefer something where the sweetness doesn't overpower the subtle lavender. I'll be back to Standing Egg Coffee one day, and be sure to order all of the other highly raved about items here!

The owner was so nice and had answered any questions I had about their menu! The iced honey oat latte was so delicious and I loved their avocado toast! There were also some really aesthetically pleasing pictures hanging on the walls and even an area for you to take pictures under a neon sign!

I love this little coffee shop. It's a family-owned business that consistently serves delicious, high-end coffee drinks with a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. The coffee bean they serve is so good (I'm a decaf drinker, so I'm always on the lookout) that we buy it by the pound so that we can have it at home, too. What's more, the owner knows my 18 year old by name and is always delighted to see him come in. Latte, cappuccino, mocha - whatever your flavor - are all excellent. You can't go wrong here! I feel so lucky that Standing Egg is walking distance from my home. Truly outstanding product and service. Plus there's parking! Unheard of in LA.

we went to this café today and took our avocado toast with egg to go. we weren't expecting to have over-boiled eggs to put on top of the toast ourselves, but we looked past that and went on to enjoy our toast. after a few bites, I felt something grainy on my teeth and looked down at my toast to find soil still attached to one of the sprouts (please refer to photos). absolutely disgusting for one; two, it also made me realize that the woman who made our food probably didn't wash the sprouts. I wouldn't recommend this café at all.

Favorite coffee spot - a small haven of consistently excellent brews and the friendliest staff. First step inside, I'm greeted by the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and genuine smiles. It's the perfect blend of great coffee and warm hospitality.

Best coffee on the eastside. Skip the line at maru and come here. The coffee is insane good. A lot of the other coffee places almost have an artificial taste...especially the syrups. This place will ruin you for other coffee. It's so good! And it's family owned so there is such pride in the coffee.
