Love coming here just to look at all the stores! This location and the Town and Country Village in Palo Alto are the best place to go to stores that you likely won't find in the rest of the country, except maybe in NYC or in L.A.
The Stanford Shopping Center has an Aesop (ridiculously expensive hand soap that you'll find in the restrooms of all the Michelin star restaurants in the Bay Area - I just like to come here to wash my hands but I'm not interested in spending $75 on hand soap).
An Allbirds. SF based. Very comfortable ballet flats, and I own a pair. An Alo Yoga (SoCal based - not interested in buying anything but I like to come and look at what's in the store). An Arcteryx store - Vancouver, Canada based - everything in one place, as opposed to REI that carries maybe one or two of their jackets - very expensive but you just need to buy one jacket that'll last a lifetime. An Aritzia - Vancouver Canada based - great work pants for women!
A BackCountry - Utah based - I'm more of a Patagonia (Santa Barbara, CA), Columbia (Portland, OR), and Marine Layer (Bay Area) fan. A Brilliant Earth (ethical diamonds). Cartier (France). A Cuyana store (SF based). Everlane (SF based), Hermes (France), Jenni Kayne (the modern California aesthetic and SoCal based), Loro Piana (Italy), Madewell (NYC), Max Mara (Italy),
On Running (Swiss and all of their shoes in one place as opposed to going to a running shoe store that carries maybe three of four of their running shoes), a Reformation (SoCal based), a Sushi Roku (SoCal based), The North Face (Denver, CO) - all of their products in one place as opposed to going to an REI that carries just a few of their jackets, and a Vuori (SoCal based).
Of course, they have a Barry's Bootcamp (Miami based), a Lululemon (Vancouver Canada based), and a SoulCycle (NYC/Hamptons).
I don't know why they don't have a Bottega Veneta here. I was at a mall in Bombay, India, earlier this year, and that mall had a Bottega. Another surprise is that they don't have a Herman Miller store here! When I was in Greenwich, CT last year, there was a Herman Miller store right next to the Aesop hand soap store. Needless to say, I sat in every Herman Miller chair in that store.
You can spend hours here just looking at what's in the stores and what the people who come to these stores are wearing. It's interesting.
Jose Andres (DC based) is trying to break into the NorCal food world (a tough thing to do considering that this place has so many Michelin star, Michelin Plate, and Michelin Bib Gourmand options). A Zaytinya is coming to this mall soon!
