Stanley Murray House

Murray House is a large, ex government official residence. It used to be located in the Central area but was moved one piece at a time to its current location. I found it fascinating! The house was well put together, well maintained and very clean. The internal part of the house was closed to visitors but I still enjoyed walking around the outside. I heard that the house and atmosphere wasn't what it used to be but I nevertheless liked it. Perhaps I wouldn't have missed it if I weren't already in the area but I would recommend visiting Murray House if there.

The museum and pier have not changed much since my last visit in 2009. A great place to hangout. A fair bit of walking though around the place. The view of the bay is great 👍

Stanley Murray House has a storied and important history of Hong Kong. Fans of architecture will undoubtedly be impressed by its beautiful form. This beautiful colonial building deserves more attention, but it seems to have been largely abandoned. We can only hope that they find a new purpose for this historic house.

The Stanley Murray house is a historical building from the time when Hong Kong was still a British colony. It used to be at another location and was relocated to this spot a few decades ago. It's now become a tourist site.

Beautiful Victorian-era building. the building was originally located in Admiralty but moved to Stanley and stationed permanently. There were apparel and restaurant tenants but gradually moved out or closed down due to the current saddening tourism. Hope this will improve one day and the building will thrive again like back in the old days.

Here to see a show by Design Trust. Great use of this historical building. Would love to see more art exhibitions here in the future.

Historical landmark and next to the Stanley Plaza. Great place to take photos or visit and read about the history of the building. During festive seasons and certain weekends, there could be bazaar stalls set up for the visiting crowds.

The Murray House may look a bit odd in Stanley- a classical building jutting out to the sea like a sore thumb- that's because the building wasn't here in the first place. The building was used as HQ for the joint forces back in the colonial days and it used to sit at where the Bank of China building in Admiralty is now. Thank god they had the good sense back then but they made the effort to dismantle the building brick by brick and it was put back to together here. When you go in now you can still imagine what it must have been like walking through the corridors back in the day- the guys must have done a bloody good job when taking it apart because I can't see major flaws with it now. It is now a 3 level building of wine and dine as well as a museum down on ground floor. The Museum is a maritime museum of Hong Kong though I haven't gone in there myself to know how good is/isn't. Upstairs though is where most people go. There are a number of restaurants, King Ludwig, Wildfire have been here as soon as it opened and they continue to be extremely busy today. You will find that it will take a lot of patience to get a table here but it is certainly worth the wait. You will see a lot of couples taking their wedding photos here; that's because there aren't a lot of classical buildings left in HK and this is a reminder to tell us how important preservation is.
