Which Minneapolis and St. Paul Patios Are Open Right Now, Summer 2020 | Eater Twin Cities

"I found their patio is currently open with tables sometimes placed on existing patios, in parking lots, or on sidewalks; guests are asked to wear masks and all staff will be masked, with precautions in place—check with the restaurant for individual days and hours. Studies suggest lower exposure risk when dining outdoors, but that benefit depends on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines." - Joy Summers

Which restaurant patios will reopen June 2020 in Minneapolis and Saint Paul? | Eater Twin Cities

"I expect its patio to open next week; seating will require reservations and be at a diminished capacity, with social distancing enforced. Masks will be required for workers and for Minneapolis diners (but not in St. Paul). Minneapolis has relaxed zoning to let restaurants reclaim outdoor space such as parking lots and valet stands, though Mayor Melvin Carter and the St. Paul city council are still expected to address zoning concerns. This list may change as the date nears; for updates emailminneapolis@eater.com." - Joy Summers

When I dined at Stanley's, it was a very hot day. We started off by having some of their slushy drinks, and they were delicious and refreshing. They had a strawberry flavor and elderberry. We ordered the appetizer of the Hot Honey Bacon Sprouts and Cheese Curds. Both were tasty appetizers. For my main course, I had the sweet and spicy chicken wrap. It was decent and left me full.

Google
Highly recommend. The cheese curds with jam is amazing. I had the reuben as well and it was delicious. Sat on the paw-tio as it was my dogs birthday and they brought her a fresh water bowl immediately. She enjoyed the boxer bites. Staff was friendly and aware of not stepping on tails and didn't seem to mind that my dog didn't understand to stay on her yoga mat (provided by Stanleys after requested). It was a bit loud, but it was very busy. We didn't feel rushed. Really great to be able to take furry family out to dinner with us. They have a pet menu even. Only thing I would suggest is to ask if you can move the table away from the wall to place pet on that side so they won't be in the way so much. (I did suggest this to Stanleys in a survey and they thanked me for the suggestion. I have not been back yet, so I can't say if this has been improved upon yet.)

Google
We come here often because of the dog friendly patio but today's service was exceptional because we had Catrina today. She gave the best recommendations and we had a wonderful time. Thanks so much Catrina! Mandy, Andrea and Moose!

Google
Amazing Bloody Mary! Ordered the spicy and it delivered! Meal was fantastic also! Upon arriving, we entered through the patio area. A sign was near the patio entrance talking about not allowing aggressive dogs, that was all we really paid attention to. Below that a sandwich board with menu details and a dog face drawn on it. We entered through the patio entrance and looked around at the tables. One of the staff said in a stern tone “you need to walk through to the front to be seated. The sign over there had arrows for the ramp to the door” and she hustled away, fully annoyed. We walked through past the bar and finally saw the host stand. From there, good service and seating. When we left, we went to see the sign with the arrows we missed. There were TINY arrows at the bottom of the sandwich board sign talking about menu items and while the tiny arrows pointed to the ramp, it also pointed to the large patio entrance it was placed right next to. We did follow two gentleman through the patio area so honestly, we are sure the gal who spoke to us probably had to direct a lot of people. Still, her tone was not appreciated and we debated even staying. Perhaps the sandwich board should be pulled forward in front of the patio exit with LARGER arrows pointing to the ramp. The top of the board should say EXIT with large arrows and something that says “ramp to hostess stand”. People would figure it out much easier then.

Google
Took my son and his husband for his birthday a couple weeks ago. Food was amazing! Service was a little slow, and she must have tucked my credit card deep into that folder when she brought back the receipt because I left it there 😩 ps. not the best picture, but it gives you an idea of how big that burrito was!

L C.

Google
Service has always been very attentive and food is delicious. Recommend Wednesday wing night - $10 for a basket of boneless wings with great sauce options. Love sitting on the "Pawtio" to see sweet pups.

Google
Really good traditional American food. Very good service very attentive and thoughtful! Pricings pretty good. The mixed drinks are really good. Best lemonade cocktail I've ever had. Enjoyed the deep fried cauliflower appetizer. I plan on going back with my family in the near future.

Google
Went for a work lunch and it was great! The vegan Mediterranean wrap was delicious! I loved the fries with the seasoned sour cream too! My whole group was very happy with their meals. Our server was fantastic and the covered patio was very nice.

Yelp
I had a marvelous time! The was great. It was prompt, and our server was very friendly. She is also the bartender. this has become my new favorite place for burgers‼ I plan to return over and over and over again.

Yelp
Returned after a not-so-great experience and happy to say this visit was a major improvement. We tried the brisket grilled cheese and the dry rub boneless wings. I'm not usually a brisket fan, but our neighbors insisted it was top-notch--turns out they were absolutely right. It was delicious. The wings were well-seasoned and paired perfectly with the mango habanero sauce. Don't worry if you're sensitive to heat--the sauce isn't spicy at all. It's more like a sweet, flavorful jam. All in all, a much more positive experience this time around, and I'm looking forward to coming back to try a burger. Our neighbor still raves about a blue burger they used to offer--sadly, it's no longer on the menu. Just putting it out there: maybe bring it back someday? I know at least one person who'd be thrilled!

Yelp
The best dogs friendly space in the town!! There were heated patio where dogs are allowed, and there were even dog menus!!! The food was great, especially the fried buffalo cauliflower!! We also had nachos with brisket, it was ridiculously good as it came with queso, guacamole, pico de gallo & etc. it was very great experience coming here!! Everyone here adores the dogs, they even offer to make request for yoga mat if dogs would like to lay on it, such a royalty treatment!!

Yelp
Came here for the Rueben dumplings and the green beer. The food is always great at Stanley's. One thing that made me not rate higher was our waiter. We ordered a burger and then when our food came out we got a patty melt... we told our waiter it wasn't what we ordered and he then told us "no this is how it comes." Unfortunately he didn't give us a chance to change it until we got the check and we again told him that it wasn't what we ordered... he did apologize and comped the "burger" for us but all of that could have been avoided if he would have listened to us when the food first came out. The dumplings were delicious and usually the service is great here. We also love the patio and it does allow dogs on the patio which is awesome. I still will recommend Stanley's but this past experience was not the best.

Yelp
For a bar/pub I'm glad to say the food does not take a hit in quality! I've gotten both sweet and spicy chicken burrito and beef stroganoff and have not been disappointed. I've never had an issue with service here and parking is relatively easy. Definitely a place in NE that is a must try. There is a reason they've been around for so long!

Lindsey P.

Yelp
Amazing beer list! Cannot complain about the cheese curds. It was fun to see some beer on the beer list.
google avatar

Creig A.

Yelp
Sometimes you just want to go to a place where everyone knows your name. Stanleys is that place for me. It's an upscale NE reformed dive bar with surprisingly good food. The bartender keeps the beers (good selection) filled. Brunch on the weekends is a hit here - go early.
google avatar

Darren L.

Yelp
Stopped at Stanley's as we were bopping around northeast area. I hadn't been there since they expanded their patio! Great place to bring a dog if you have one with you (we did). Quick service and the food is what you come to expect at a bar/restaurant. I got the nachos with chicken, which is technically an appetizer I think but definitely big enough to be a meal on its own!
google avatar

Mel M.

Yelp
We went to Stanley's for lunch and sat on the patio on Sunday. They need to hire more servers or find one that is more efficient. It took our server over 25 minutes to greet us. after receiving the drinks and appetizer it took another 45 minutes for her to come back to take our order. the food was delicious but we didn't need to be there for such an extended time. there were 5 tables around us all sat afterwards that basically had their bills before we got our food. To wrap up the extremely slow experience, our server took our cards then proceeded to hold on to them for over ten minutes before returning them. Not sure if it's server specific but this was frustrating.

Yelp
First time here and I don't know that I'd come back. Service disappointing from the minute we walked in to our server Alberta. You walk into a restaurant and think you'd get a friendly hello and a nice welcome in, guess not this evening. I felt like we bothered the hostess and even felt like more of a bother with our sever. Customer service skills significantly lacked. My friend ordered cheese curds for an appetizer. They came out very quickly- within 3-5 minutes. Nothing special. I ordered the northeast smash burger with chips. The chips were my favorite part as they were very flavorful. The gal who brought our cheese curds out was very friendly and nice. Bar has some televisions with sports games playing and pull tabs are offered. Looks like there's a patio. Overall, I wouldn't visit again. First experience ruined it for me.

Yelp
We went to Stanley's for a mid week lunch and had the best time!! My friend and I both ordered the French dip special; it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! The meat was delicious and tender, the au jus was spot on, and the seasoned sour cream was the perfect chip dip! Can't wait to go back for this tasty Thursday special :)
google avatar

Romeo R.

Yelp
Fish & Chips were soooo yummy. The best cod ever. The fries are also above average. Finally their cheese curds are among the best.
google avatar

Camille C.

Yelp
Love Stanley's. So does my dog. It's fantastic that they are so dog friendly. It's fun to have dinner together out.
google avatar

Leah G.

Yelp
Hot damn! This place is outstanding and dangerously good! Everything I've tried there so far has been on point! Ordering to go is a breeze, nicely packed to go and quick service. The only thing I wanna know is does the restaurant take menu request!?, because after trying their wrap I'm dreaming of a crispy buffalo chicken version with that four cheese spread they use and also a caesar wrap with croutons version.

Yelp
The service was good and the ambiance was pretty cool out on the patio.. BUT we came here tonight because it was advertised as a place that played the Loons games. We were very disappointed as we had traveled a long way just to find out that it was being played on one TV and there was no sound. Those of us that were there for the game had to clump together awkwardly to see the game and one table even had to move in order to see it at all. Watching the room, there were 6 other tvs with the gophers game on and nobody was even watching it. As far as the food.. the drinks were good and the food was creative but bland. Zero flavor. We got a few things to try and it was the concensus all around.. the food looked good but lacked flavor.

Yelp
We tried two soups as takeaway for dinner. Chicken Wild Rice and Chicken Noodle. The service and take away containers were both good. Soups traveled well to the house and were still warm when we opened them. Ambience - We like that Stanley's has a dog menu with lots of options the dogs enjoy.

Yelp
Back in Minneapolis, I am visiting family for the state fair. I am super excited about that, but in the meantime, in between times, a brother still has to eat! My brother recommended a local place he visits often, so we took a trip. Stanley's was a very big bar/restaurant. According to my brother, they went through some reconstruction to upgrade their patio, which looks amazing. They have a huge indoor area that has plenty of seats and plenty of televisions to watch the games. The allure, however, is definitely their patio. The patio has intimate lighting. There are televisions out there too for your viewing pleasure. They also have the digital fireplaces along the walls. The ambiance was superb. I keep telling myself I will make sure to remember the names of the waitstaff, but for each review, I keep forgetting to write it down. I like the idea of giving them the flowers they deserve when they do well and giving them constructive feedback when service is not what I expect. Anyway, our server was great. He was very patient with us, helping me specifically choose a great option from the menu. Even though I made a huge mistake ordering my meal and forgetting to tell him to omit the bacon. He did not make it a big deal, immediately took it back to the kitchen and made me a fresh one. I really do appreciate that. Now, for the food, I had the sweet and spicy chicken wrap (no bacon, of course), and it was delectable. The most satisfying thing about the meal, in my opinion, was the portion. The wrap came with french fries, and before that, the table shared some nachos, which was a great portion as well. I was so full I was able to save half my wrap for a midnight snack. Stanley's was a great restaurant, I highly recommend it and if anyone goes absolutely sit on the patio, I forgot to mention it is retractable as well so it does not matter what the season is sitting out there is always an option.

Yelp
My friend and I decided on Stanley's for Sunday lunch after the other places we planned to go were closed. My friend is a fan of Stanley's but this was my first time. Since it was Sunday, we were limited to their brunch menu, which was fine by me but my friend was unable to order the salad she likes. We ordered cheese curds and truffle fries to start, both were delicious! And then after a while we decided to share an order of wings with the dry rub and then a sauce on the side. I loved the dry rub on the wings. We sat on the patio which was fantastic as we were able to enjoy the outdoors and all the puppies. Our server was good but she didn't check in on us as much as I would've liked. I can't wait to return and try more of the menu as I know this is a local favorite.

Yelp
Before the pandemic we were frequent customers at "Al's Place". Food and service was always outstanding. Tonight was a very different experience. It's pouring rain outside, we parked in a spot in the main parking lot. Later we find out we need to move the car because it's a "to go" parking spot. I understand the restaurant business is a tough business but prioritizing to-go orders over in-person customers is a sure way to turn off customers, especially in the rain. It's a parking lot and should be first come first parked, the to-go customers could park behind other cars or walk in the rain just like other customers. Had it not been for a birthday party, we wouldn't have stayed. Once the rest of the birthday party arrived, a server stated we couldn't sit on the patio where there were several open tables. Then the server was released early, so we had to close out our round before ordering dinner. Dinner arrived, the "Prime Rib" stroganoff was pre-sliced beef typically used in French dip sandwiches and way over cooked. When the check/bill was returned it had the wrong credit card in the portfolio. A very frustrating evening over all. Not sure we will try a return visit.

John A.

Yelp
Overall good food, we order to go quite often. Now the problem. Some of us would like to order a cup of wild rice soup to go with our meal and there is no place on the website to order it. I have mentioned this to the manager at Stanleys several times and no results

Yelp
Stanley's is an iconic and cozy spot in the NE neighborhood. I love coming here to grab classic pub fare and a cold beer. This most recent time my husband and I shared the cheese curds (served with a side of chili jam-a unique sweet and spicy twist on the classic ranch), dry rub wings, and the vegan hot chic sandwich. All of these were delicious and satisfied our end of a long week fried food craving! :) The service here is great-super friendly and despite them being busy in the evenings we have never had to wait long to be seated or for our food to arrive which is always appreciated. They have a small parking lot by the restaurant that can fill up fast on Friday/weekend nights but plenty of street parking is available so no worries. They also allow dogs on the (all season) patio so expect to hear some occasional barking if you choose to sit there.

Lynn H.

Yelp
Food and service was good. Always seems busy. Had fun playing bingo there. Would recommend to friends!
google avatar

Jestina G.

Yelp
Went there for brunch I got the best thing on the menu the chilaquiles here is soooo good it has Corn tortillas topped with salsa verde, two scrambled eggs*, queso fresco, cilantro crema, and pico. Choice of chicken or chorizo . I got the chicken which was a great choice. For drinks there's a wide selection I got a frozen margarita and after I got the lavender lemonade slushy. The service is great my waiter very attentive and gave great recommendations. The ambiance here is very dive bar but with a little class and its pet friendly
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
I had a wonderful meal here! Service was really great. Very friendly and attentive and when our waiter got bogged down the bartender came to check on us to make sure we had everything we needed! We started with drinks--I got the Blackberry Mule, which was AMAZING. I could've had like ten of them. SO delicious. I also got the Craft & Crew Minnesota 75, which was good, but more bitter than my first drink, so I didn't like it as much. For an app we got the jalapeño poppers, which were really good, although I did wish they had more of a spicy kick to them. For my meal I got the Bleu Fig Burger and added on jalapeño bacon. The burger was good (adding the bacon was a delicious choice), but it had too much arugula and too many crispy onions on it, which made it really hard (and messy!) to eat, even when I cut it in half. Overall, loved the space, loved the service, loved the food. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to Stanely's Northeast Bar Room a few times for brunch, and it has never disappointed! Today, I had excellent, fast service in the cozy dining area. It was full but too loud. It is a great place for a weekend breakfast or to watch a sporting event.
google avatar

Yelp
Great NE restaurant & bar! We've been going there for 40+ years (when it was Stasiu's). It's a NE tradition and landmark for good Polish food and company. They have many American favorites, as well. Our grandkids love it, too. Please stay open!!!
google avatar

Amy R.

Yelp
I know places have to put different foods into rotation, but I really wish they would bring back the mushrooms. Those were so amazing and so damn good. Have been there a few times in the past few weeks and the food is just superb! Ordered the cobb salad which was one of the best I have ever had. Huge chunks of perfectly grilled chicken, avocado, eggs and bacon. It was amazingly good. Also have tried the loaded Yuca fries- yum, the cubano- was okay, but my cobb salad was amazing! Mushrooms would have been even better. I love that have food for the pups. Have ordered the pup loaf a few times and the pups both just devour it. Great place. Great food. Great service every time!
google avatar

Mikhala F.

Yelp
Whenever we're not sure where to go with my partner's fam for a dinner out, Stanley's is always at the top of the list. And it doesn't disappoint! Here's a few reasons we love Stanley's: 1. Covered, heated Pawtio in the winter! There aren't many dog-friendly dining options in the winter, but Stanley's goes above and beyond to make sure we can bring the family pups to our get-togethers. 2. Accomodating for groups. We celebrated a birthday here most recently, and their team accommodated our group of 8+ with ease. 3. Their food always hits the spot for me! I love their burgers and sandwiches (with GF bun options), fries, and apps. It's classic bar food done right. The only downsides: - Parking can be tricky here: there is a small parking lot, but it's almost always full. Unfortunately, the closest street parking is a block or two away. - We had slower than usual service this last time we went in - we were out in the pawtio so that could have been part of it. Thanks for being a NE staple, Stanley's!

Yelp
To much salt on strangers meat was gamey Sqaish soup was bland although best house service ever tentative from kitchen pushing out orders mindful service smiles always and everyone stayed busy working positively very nice

Yelp
I absolutely loved the food, service and ambiance of the Stanley's! We were able to enjoy the buffalo cauliflower, the poke bowl as well as their famous Rueben! It was heavenly! I'd come back for sure! It's a cute little local spot, and they have some parking too!
google avatar

Yelp
I had the Honey Garlic Boneless Wings and the Pretzel Sticks and they were AMAZING!!! I ordered through a delivery service and my food was still hot and fresh when I received it. Money well spent!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
love their vegetarian/vegan selections and have great gluten free options as well. Also have a patio where your puppy dogs can in join the fun and enjoy a dish right off the menu made just for them.

Jessica S.

Yelp
We were able to walk in for brunch. Fun atmosphere and bar with the game on. Service was amazing and the food was really good! The cheesy hash browns were my favorite!!

Karyn P.

Yelp
Chose Stanley's because of the dog patio snd previous visits were very good. It was Mother's Day and at 1pm they only offered the underwhelming breakfast buffet. Very minimal offerings-scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon. There was biscuits & gravy, 3 kinds of potatoes, cold French toast & pancakes. No "lunch" items, no pastries, no carving station, no salads, no soups, and no upkeep on the banquet table area. There was some cut fruits & cheescake shooters but no real desserts. Very overpriced at $30.
google avatar

Shawn D.

Yelp
Stanleys is always worth the visit. The fajita bowl is awesome. Love the rewards program too!

Yelp
Really great food. Excellent beer selection. This Ruben sandwich is most on point. Delicious.

Yelp
This review is long overdue! Stanley's has been our go-to for a while, especially when we are tired and when we can't think of anything new to eat. We were just there last week, and I said "We have never had a bad meal here!", and my partner agreed. We are pesce-vegetarian foodies who love trying new restaurants, but it seems like no matter what mood we are in, we can always count on Stanley's to scratch that itch. My favorites are the same things I love to eat anywhere we go, fish tacos, veggie burger, fries, but their fries are a cut above the rest. They have just enough zesty seasoning, and they batter them ever so slightly to make them completely addictive. AND they have tater tots. It's crunchy fried potato heaven. They also have deliciously imaginative dishes like the veggie beet Reuben, yum. We can always count on the service as well. They are so friendly and fast. The atmosphere is very sports bar (loads of TVs), but they also have a wonderful 4-season covered patio if that's not your thing, and a side room that doesn't have TVs. When we were there last week, the sound was down on the TVs and they were playing a retro alternative soundtrack. And if you have a dog, they have a canine only menu. I miss the cool Speakeasy they had upstairs, not sure what happened to it. I think the pandemic killed it. :-( Hope they bring that back in some form. The place is very popular (because the food is bangin), but we have never had to wait to get seated. Pro tip: the parking lot is almost always full, but they have a whole nother lot across the street.

Yelp
Very good service, and very Great food. Waiters are very friendly and definitely a good spot to go watch a game!

Yelp
Food and service are consistently great. It is relatively easy to get a table. The patio is an excellent option if you have a dog - they even have a dog menu. Recently came here on a Saturday night. Out group of eight was seated right away. We split the stuffed jalapeños, hot chic wings and some cheese curds. I had the fig burger with truffle fries. Food came out promptly and was so delicious! Stanley's parent company Craft & Crew also has a pretty decent loyalty program. My only complaint is that it is pretty overpriced.
google avatar

Rachael M.

Yelp
Stanley's is a Craft & Crew restaurant located in Northeast Minneapolis. They have a lot of good brunch options available on Saturday & Sunday's from 9 a.m - 2 p.m. the staff was super amazing & helpful! I had so much fun brunching with two ofnmynbeat friends. They have a few different versions of Eggs Benedict which I love trying different kinds! Rio - 2 poached eggs on a crispy on an English Muffins & topped w/ Poblano pepper, portabella mushrooms, spinach & smothered in velvety hollandaise sauce. New York - 2 poached eggs on crispy English Muffins, topped w/ tender corned beer & finished with their hollandaise. Benedict's are served w/ a side of choice which could be hash browns, sweet potato hash or American fries. We went with hash browns & you can top with any cheese! Yes please! We also enjoyed some of their Mimosas! They have a few fun different flavors to try as well. Brunch Punch Mimosa - Champagne, cranberry, and passionfruit Sunrise Mimosa - House-made lemonade and champagne, a delicious twist of the classic.

Yelp
Everything from the burgers to sushi bowls are always fresh and cooked perfectly. Seasoned/sauces just right. Total local gem.

Yelp
Easter brunch at Stanley's was wonderful! We had reservations but they would have been able to seat us even if we didn't. The food was fresh and plentiful! Good music and vibes! Stanley's never disappoints
google avatar

Paige H.

Yelp
Stanley's is one of my favorite places to eat in Northeast! The food is always great, the tap list is long, the staff are friendly, and there are options for indoor and outdoor seating year-round. I appreciate that Stanley's offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. On my most recent visit, I tried the vegan hot chic sandwich. This sandwich was definitely Minnesota "hot" and could have been much spicier, but it was still tasty. I've also enjoyed the vegan Reuben. The non-vegetarian/vegan options are great, too. My partner tried the buffalo chicken salad during our last visit and appreciated the freshness of the ingredients. Some of my other favorites are the NE polish dinner, poke bowl, and brisket mac and cheese. Things to note: Stanley's doesn't take reservations, so plan accordingly. They are dog-friendly and offer a year-round pawtio. There's a small parking lot directly next to the building and one across the street.

Yelp
Just had ordered Stanley's Northeast bar on door dash ordered the buffalo wings and quesadilla with pork carnitas was very delicious the wings were full of chicken and flavor was exceptional with the buffalo sauce was very tasty and the quesadillas were great also would recommend this place for great food and fast service by delivery amazing food

John P.

Yelp
Wasn't that good. Sorry. Wasn't. Well, it wasn't good. Did not cause illness. Just did not taste that great.

Jack B.

Yelp
Place is a 10/10, bring the dog here all the time, however i need them to bring back the blue fig burger, it was the greatest burger I've ever had
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
A NE staple! You can't go wrong with Stanley's! This time I got the nachos and cheese curds. Both were classics. They just came out with a summer menu full of options. Drinks are always great here too, recommend coming for happy hour! One downside is they don't accept night reservations. This can be tricky especially for groups. However the wait was only 15 minutes for a group of 8 on a Thursday. Appreciate how hard the staff works!

Yelp
Went as a group of 6 on a Sunday at 11:30 and were seated immediately, was beyond crowded by the time we left though! I ordered the chicken and waffles, the amount of food you get for price is great. My dish had a slight kick to it due to the hot honey so if you don't like heat, I'd ask for that to be left off. My husband ordered a breakfast burrito and thoroughly enjoyed it. One in our group ordered chilaquiles and felt the dish was too soggy. My only suggestion is to offer unlimited mimosas for a price point. I'd gladly pay $25-$30 for unlimited mimosas with breakfast.

Yelp
They treat delivery drivers and customers like trash for mediocre food. I spent $80 and received the wrong order worth maybe $20-all food none of us want even if it wasn't cold and awful. Don't waste your time with this rude subpar restaurant.
