Stanley's Tavern

I've been going to Stanley's for over 30 years now. They have great burgers and ribs, and I love watching sports on multiple TVs they have placed throughout the restaurant and bar. My wife and I love the new large glass garage door that opens to the outdoor eating area. Great place for good food with a relaxing and casual atmosphere. Go Birds!

Joint serving really nice pub-style fare! Good selection of drafts and non-draft beers as well. Really enjoyed the pizza, wings, and nachos. They have outdoor seating and we were seated outside in the middle of a belter of a rainstorm which made the experience very special and unique. Great food, atmosphere, and service at extremely affordable and reasonable prices. They also have offers everyday (I think). We went on a Monday and they had a $5 off on all appetizers!

Pub-style restaurant offers alternatives to pub-style grub. Chicken Fajita Tacos were nicely stuffed; Ahi-tuna salad had fresh and plenty of tuna and a tasty dressing. Waldorf Salad was a little heavy on the dressing. Guacomole was FRESHLY made and only $5. Cheesesteak egg rolls were a bit "doughy" but flavorful. Korean-Fried Cauliflower a nice touch. Always love the popcorn with cocktails waiting for the meal.

My old man picked me up from a girl trip and I told him lay off, I am starving. He took me right away to this Tavern. Bathrooms were sparkling clean, although your paper towel dispenser didn't work, and I had to use the air dryer that only spit out air from to time. Vibe was chill, place was a lot bigger inside than out (unlike my old man) He only let me an order a side salad, because I packed on a few pounds with my gal pal's. Anywho, the lettuce and veggies were fresh and the water hit the spot. If you are by these parts check this place out!

Went to a birthday party / banquet at Stanley’s and the service was exceptional. Bartenders Millie and Lisa were phenonemal. Manager Brian was attentive and helpful with our party and catered to our needs. Highly recommend for your next party or celebration!! Ask for Millie as your bartender - she’s the best! Will be back soon!

We hosted a 30th birthday event upstairs with the banquet team at Stanley’s and they were AWESOME. They hit a home run in every category. The bar staff were all smiles and accommodated every request. Finding a private space for 30-40 people (+children) can be extremely difficult — not here. The kids CRUSHED the mac & cheese… but the wings, nacho bar, and PHILLY CHEESESTEAK EGGROLLS were astronomically popular. We will 100% be back!!

Food was outstanding. Some of the best garlic mashed potatoes I've ever had. Ribs was solid and the wings were big and juicy. I enjoyed the staff which was very friendly as well. I'll will be going back!

I live close by. Husband and I started coming here to blow off steam and we fell in love with this place. Atmosphere is friendly and my favorite bartender is Millie. She is the absolute best. I’m laughing the whole time between the stories we share with each other and how she gets everyone talking about a single subject together. The drinks are great. My favorite thing to eat here is the garlic parm wings. You won’t be disappointed coming here. The clientele is really nice. If you are in a bad mood when you enter, you will leave out feeling much happier.

Staff is very efficient. Place is very clean. Food is delicious. Their salads are made with such wonderful presentation. Cheesecake egg rolls are out of this world. Great place for a bar scene too.

Really like this place. Have good wait people, & bartenders. Very friendly. We mostly have sandwiches, wings & similar type foods. We sat at the main bar last night, & the seat we were in was under a air conditioned vent. It receded to drip water occasionally. Need to fix that. Will not sit in that area again!

Took a trip to Stanley's Tavern on an early Saturday. Immediate seating available. Recently bought by Ashby Hospitality Group, not much has changed on the menu or the decor. However you feel a change in the mood Now to the food. Mostly a 3 maybe 4 star. I had the white pizza and it was more like a soup than a pizza. My wife had the Ahi Tuna Salad and the tuna was good but the salad was soaked in dressing making it more oily than salad. Good place for a beer and ok pub food but Ashby Hospitality Group need to overhaul the menu and bring Stanley's up to the same standards as there other taverns.

Stanley's is TGIF food meets local watering hole/pub vibes. We ordered a turkey burger and a full rack of ribs. Turkey burger was surprisingly good, I normally find them to be too dry but not Stanley's turkey patty! Ribs on the other hand were quite dry. But 3 half racks was a nice touch. I definitely left Stanley's with a full tummy. I would come back to catch a game and drink a few cold ones.

I have known Jim T. for over 20 years. When you walk into Stanley's, there he is getting your drinks ready without even asking because he knows what you order. You see the same service with other regular customers because he provides great customer service to everyone. My family goes when Jim is there because we know he will treat us like family. I am severely disappointed after 30 years of service that he was terminated without notice. I was willing to give Stanley's a chance since ownership changed hands because of Jim but with him gone, there is no reason to go back. This is going to hit Stanley's bottom dollar hard as I see from other customers that they had that same rapport as we did. He is one of the best in the business.

Good food, friendly service. It's like a sports bar, but really a restaurant . Most of the time don't need a reservation.

My husband and I like going here-husband loves the ribs- Kaila is the best waitress!!! We always ask for her when we go!!!

We came here because they are famous for their ribs but to be honest I wasn't impressed. I assume for Delaware this is a good place for bar food , drink and watch sports with friends. It was busy! Ambiance is typical sports bar. Server was pleasant! It was the closest to stop by as we were hungry.

One of my go to places. We always get wings & fries which are amazing. Service is okay could be better. The restaurant is very well put together. You can eat inside or outside.

Used to love coming to Stanley's but since the new year things have really gone down hill. First our favorite bar tender was let go after 30 years and now to say the food is sub par would be an understatement. On 3 occasions my burger buns have literally fell apart before I could even take a bite. Sent one back 3 times before I just said 'whatever'. It's obvious there is a new chef or new standards as even the once excellent ribs are not much better than getting a McRib from McDonalds. It's really sad, this was a cool place but I think we will be trying one of the dozen other pubs in the area.

Server great! New owner: food now really sucks. Salad made up of salad cores, no taste, petite steak was cold , no taste. Husbands's prk soggy. Used to have a loyalty credit, no more. As far as we can tell the only apps they have added at happ y hour is popcorn. Won't be back.

Service. Food. Beer. Ambiance. This place has it all. Quesadilla was way above what I expected, best I've had in a non Mexican restaurant. Our server, Kia, made us her "secret sauce" for our ribs which fell off the bone and were to die for. Pickleback wings were a great twist and cooked perfectly. 1935 sauce was good as well. Brussels sprouts are a must pick side. "The World's Smallest Sundae" was cute and actually a perfect size for the end of a meal. My wife and I will most definitely be back and next time we're bringing the family. Thank you again Kia, you're the best.

Had an adult birthday party yesterday for 25 people in the front of the tavern. Outstanding service from the entire staff. Megan and Jackie worked their butts off to make sure we had a great event. Food came out quickly and was delicious as usual. Thank you Stanley's.

$32 for two crown and cokes? WTH. Shrimp tacos are good but man... I could buy more than a bottle for this price.

Ordered take out fish and chips and 1935 chicken sandwich. Fish and chips had no chips and only a few pieces of greasy fish. No tarter or cocktail sauce despite person on the phone specifically asking which we wanted. 1935 sandwich was a piece of breaded chicken on a bun. No sauce, no lettuce tomato and chicken should have been grilled and not breaded. Would have been better and cheaper at Chick-fil-A. That has always been my favorite and it has never been this horrible.Have lived in the area my whole life and frequented Stanleys for years. Never again.

Learned recently that Jim T is longer tending bar at Stanley's. not by his choice. We would purposely go in his scheduled nights and are disappointed that he is no longer there. i am sorry that the Ashby Group decided to let a long term Stanleys employee go. We have many other options for dinner but would often go to Stanley's as Jim was always a friendly face. He developed relationships with his customers. I can't say the same of the replacement. Seems to be more interested in relationships with coworkers versus customers.

Stanley's used to be our favorite place until the new owners decided to start getting rid of the old employees. Jim, the bartender gave us the best service we've ever had and is the reason we went every week. He made it special. Now Stanley's is just like every other place around. Apparently the new owners don't care about quality service and loyal customers and employees.

What happened to Jim the bartender that was there for over 30 years? He was an institution there. Knew everyone's drink orders, names, families. Huge loss for the place. Bring him back or many regulars won't keep coming back.

The food is always good, the beer is cold, and the servers are friendly. Its a nice neighborhood tavern.

Went to Stanley's on Veteran's Day and received a complimentary half rack of ribs with a side. Probably the best ribs I've ever had- amazing sauce, cooked to perfection, and fall off the bone tenderness. Our bartender Melissa was kind, professional, and attentive. Someone said she has a reputation for being the best bartender in the area, and I don't doubt that for a second. The free ribs are an amazingly kind gesture, and I'm very grateful. Thank-you Stanley's! I'll be back regularly for sure.

New owners have drastically raised menu prices. Got ribs takeout - $25 for a half rack? Staff not attentive or focused. Same great food -- hope they can sort it out.

No question the best sports bar in delaware! I'm sitting at their bar as I type this! I'm here 8 days a week.

Crab cake was delicious. Fries good. Broccoli . .. well the pieces I had were good but the majority of it looked unwashed like they picked it out the dirt and threw it in a pot. I couldn't eat most of it. I would have rather they told me they didn't have enough and give me something else. Doesn't make me want to try their salads.

what happened to the food, it use to be good, and enough to take some home, and the drinks were not over priced, over ten years i've been going here, bot any more,

Pastrami sandwich was fantastic, beer was cold. Great atmosphere and an all around great meal. Looking forward to going back.

Stanley's is amazing!! It is a very Cheers like place. Tonight I had the 1935 Chicken sandwich. It was delicious!! The jalapeños and sauce were amazing on it. The cole slaw was good but heavy on the mayo. I had a delicious RAR beer. The beer list here is extensive. The staff is super fun. I love playing Buzztime Trivia which you can play anywhere in the two bars or restaurant.

One of our favorite local spots. Close to our house and one of the first places we tried when we moved to the area. Good food, and friendly service. Nice place to go for watching football games, or meeting up with friends. My favorites are the not on Sunday chicken sandwich and the tavern burger.

They still have the best wings in Delaware! The Tavern burger was delicious and the fries were perfection. Great taco with lots of tasty filling. Haven't been there in a while, but I will be going back more often. Very good service too!

Review based solely on happy hour food. Got the cheesesteak egg rolls which were very good and I'm guessing made in house. Wife liked the quarter rack of ribs. Wings were good. Weak spot was the pizza and the $5 cheeseburger. Would skip both next time.

Took the wife and MIL for dinner on Mother's Day. Waitress was excellent, however the food (my ribs) wasn't. Very disappointed in the ribs. First time I ever had a bad rack of ribs. Not sure if they were old,or just badly cooked. No I didn't send them back, Never send food back!

Cool establishment, decent pub food from the times i've been there, TVs everywhere for sports or events on tv... nice location too near Delco and northern delaware tons of drinks and food to choose from which really amazed me

Amazing food for a sportsbar. Crab cakes were really solid, burgers solid, wings solid, reuben solid.

This is a fairly laid back place to take the kids. We came here on a Saturday night and had a nice table tucked away from traffic - did not get any reception from our spot either. We wanted to try the ribs and I was also interested in the salmon so the rib combo was a definite when. I appreciate that there were sauce and style options for a tavern as well. We got our food pretty quickly and our server was kind enough to express concern that our plates were hot. I liked the ribs with the salmon and the Parmesan green beans were a healthy portion as well. We definitely are looking forward to coming again sometime soon.

First time here we were expecting a bar/pub, but the place has a diner ambience to it - nevertheless very good. The grilled cheese was very good. Service was very attentive, specially since the place was packed.

Popular hangout for buddies to gather and have a beer. Nice big bar and pretty good food. Service varies drastically with which waitress. Have had slow service often.

Very good cheesesteak and great place for Date night. I had the Troeg's Mad Elf beer and I highly recommend drinking massive quantities of it. The Cheesesteak was good, fresh and tasty. It complimented the rest of the night perfectly.

Not only was the waiter bad but the food was even worse! I hadn't been there in over a year because of the bad experience last time. This time it ended up being a waste of my time because I found out nothing has changed, If you want your money's worth DO NOT go to Stanley's Tavern!! Do yourself a major favor and go to Kid Shelleen's which no more than 5 minutes away. on Rt 3.

We popped into Stanley's Tavern for a quick lunch and were very glad we did. The atmosphere in the bar area was great and the food was very delicious. We had deviled eggs, a burger, and a ruben. All were delicious. We will be back!

I went to Stanley's for the first time recently and sat in the pub area. And while the food, drinks and service were all fine, I realized that most of the people in there were anti-vaxxers who didn't believe in covid. I understand there may he an outdoor option but I enjoy watching whatever sports are on tv indoors. I will not be back until covid is fully under control or until the business requires proof of vaccination.

AN old saying goes: "A poor craftsman blames his tools . . ." Well, the new kitchen you've installed isn't yielding any better food. So sad that you spent all that money. Perhaps its time for new personnel. I'll wait another 30 years and see what happens.

I ordered delivery from this place today and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the crab deviled eggs, chili, and cheesesteak egg rolls. Although that sounds simple enough, I have ordered way simpler from other places and received way worse. The crab deviled eggs had plenty of pieces of sweet lump crab, and the cheesesteak egg rolls came with a French onion dip that I would gladly pour on every dish from here on out. They also honored all of my "special instructions" which rarely happens and the food arrived piping hot. I will be stopping in to try the entrees soon!

Let's start by saying my food was tasty and I would definitely give this tavern another try. Their ribs really are delicious. Now, why three stars? Let's give COVID it's due, but I really don't think it was the problem. It was either the waitress or the kitchen. Probably the waitress. I didn't see her enough to form much of an opinion. She was very nice. When I finally ordered, it took quite awhile before the food arrived. Seafood chowder, half a rack of ribs, and fries. I started with the chowder. Tepid may be pushing it. Tasted good, but I was a little concerned about botulism, not something you want to think about when you're eating. Ribs and fries were also good, but basically warm. Even if it took her awhile to deliver my food, wasn't it under a heat lamp while it waited? Portions are not huge, but I'm content. As I said, I'd give it another shot, but this wasn't a home run. Speaking of which, no restaurant should ever have UFC on the tv where people are eating. Glancing at handsome young men beating the crap out of each other is not compatible with food.

Me and a group of friends just went here for the first time wanting to eat dinner and watch the NFL playoffs. Our waiter was extremely rude to me at first when I asked if the nachos were gluten free and basically told me to figure it out myself. For context, I have celiac disease and cannot have gluten or let it cross-contaminate. Then, when I asked to order a regular hamburger with a gluten free bun and fries, which he said were gluten free and would let the kitchen know that I had an allergy. However, immediately after eating all of my food, I got sick and was intbe restroom for 15 minutes in a lot of pain. Not only this happened with him, but he got mad at us for asking to split the check and offering to pay with multipe cards as an alternative. Totally unprofessional and I would not recommend going here, especially if you're with a group of people and/or you have a type of allergy.

I met RJ here for March madness on St Patrick's Day. They could not get my drink right. Rum with pineapple and a splash a grenadine should not be a red drink. One of our friend's in our party got extra cans of pineapple for me to dilute the grenadine. I said splash the first time, the 2nd time I said look just a splash, not a glass full. Still got a red drink. We skipped the food because it's not great and we wanted to go somewhere good later.

Went to Stanley's again craving the brisket. Always good. Also had the wings which were well cooked and moist. (Hate it when the wings are dry and over cooked). Tried the French fries which were just ok. Agree with another reviewer that the broccoli was undercooked.

Have been coming here for years. Great atmosphere. Great pub food. Lots of beers. Wait staff is friendly and familiar. Love this place.
