After going to stans for over 25 years, for the 1st time, i find myself very disappointed.
went during happy hour for the food specials to keep this short, there was a small discrepancy on the bill, price not matching the menu, or the price the waitress told me before ordering.
the money wasn't a big deal, but out of principle, i just wanted an explanation - e.g. was the menu out of date and peices went up, or was something keyed in wrong, etc.
i attempted to asked the waitress about it after the bill came, but it seems that's not acceptable behavior for a stans customer.
my complaint here isn't about the smell price discrepancy, its about the the employees attitude.
in short, the waitress gave me 2 options :
a) pay it and don't question a price discrepancy, or
b) she (the waitress) will cover the entire tab and charge me $0, and i no longer welcome there, and should never return.
no one else there seemed to give a hoot, seemed they all preferred i never return.
i paid, and tipped, on the full (incorrectly high) amount because as a 25 year customer, i wasn't quite ready, though seriously tempted, to give up on my old stomping grounds, though still not sure I'm welcome back.
all i can say to others is go for the drinks, not the food.
if you want food, don't pay much attention to the listed menu prices, or ask the waitress pricing, just expect to pay whatever they say it rings up as...
stans has never been known for their service, or food - it's always been a bit of a dive bar, by design, and that's actually it's "charm".
so i kind of blame myself for for turning my recent visits into a food place, and expecting a service level and 'give a hoot' level on par with closer to a restaurant rather than a bar...
