I'm always on the lookout for Italian food, especially so on National Pizza Day and even more in my hood. Granted, the star pizza concept had been premiered elsewhere locally and there's that line about the definition of flattery but anywho...
Star Chigua is tucked away in a strip mall right off West 16th Avenue and near a Mexican place and a few other businesses. There are both tables and a cafeteria-style counter (which is where I sat). Service was about adequate for a busy Friday night, though I did have to check on my order once or twice. To their credit, they did comp the colada (I had asked for cortadito, but they didnt make it..ok)
As I've mentioned before, Cuban pizza is similar to Chicago style with a deep dish crust. My pie obvs had a lot if cheese, and seemed a little light on the actual marinara sauce. I ended up having to ask for extra sauce. Toppings tasted alright, and maybe next time I'll ask for extra sauce right off the bat.
