For context I dined in on Valentine's day, it was definitely busy so I cannot completely fault the service. I reserved bar seating for 1 to treat myself, and I felt like I was being pushed to the side. I noticed people who had sat at the bar after me were getting attended to more quickly and checked in on more frequently than I was. I don't know if it was because I was alone, but it did ruin the experience a bit. It felt like I was begging for someone to glance at me so I could place an order for food. I noticed upon seating I was placed right next to where they were bussing glasses, which would be fine if it wasn't directly next to another table where the waiters needed squeeze past my chair every time. Definitely not the staff's fault, but it made the overall ambience stuffy and felt like I was in the way. Food and drink wise I got the "what a girl wants" martini off the valentines special menu, for the price it was just okay, the chocolate covered strawberry was a cute touch. I got the wagyu steak for the main, it was flavorful and the creamy spinach was a nice side. But I don’t think it was good enough to justify the price. Overall, would not dine here alone again, however I do still think this is a nice place to come with a small group.

Dark & moody drinks or date spot. I can't comment on prices bc I was there for a Yelp event, but the space is cool, drinks are good, and food was definitely tasty. I tried to reserve a table for Valentine's Day but it was booked up before January (!), which makes sense.

Historic Star Lounge in Hyatt House Sacramento is one of the best lounges I have visited in the Sacramento area with excellent service, and I love the atmosphere of the lounge. I feel very relaxed and comfortable in there. The hotel also have valet parking service at the front door. So you have to worry about parking.

This was our first night in Sacramento, and we wanted something simple and stunning to drink. This is the place to go. Not only is the atmosphere amazing. The drinks were absolutely top-notch. The staff were absolutely amazing, attentive, and kind. We went for happy hour, and I was simply blown away. If you are looking for a high scale place with great food and amazing drinks. This is the place. Our waiter was amazing and so refined. I don't know who the guy was who brought me the candles. But thank you!!

I had an amazing experience at star lounge and a big part of that was thanks to Kevin! Not only did he make incredible cocktails, but his attention to detail and friendly personality made the night even better. He remembered my drink preferences, gave great recommendations, and kept the atmosphere fun and welcoming. Hands down one of the best bartenders I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Can’t wait to come back!

I will forever dream about the bread and butter from Historic Star Lounge. I have lived in the Sacramento area for 3 years and not one person has ever recommended this restaurant when I am asking for recommendations. How is this possible!? This is the BEST restaurant I have been to out here. First, the ambiance is phenomenal. I cannot remember the last time I was at a restaurant that used real candles. Julian was amazing and adapted to our humor immediately. I appreciate him and all his recommendations. If you don’t order the bread and butter you are missing out. The mussel fritas and salmon tartare were so good. We ordered the gnocchi bolognese and short ribs. They were good, however I would have preferred a little more salt on my ribs and I wish the dish included mushrooms, but that’s a personal preference and no disrespect to the Chef. It was still good. We ordered the creme brûlée and lemon tart. Divine. Drinks were phenomenal. I have been telling everyone to go here. 10/10 can’t wait to go back!

Google
I was luck enough to be treated to sensational cocktails (KRAWKOW SALT MINE & POM READER), delicious tacos, and an over the top peach cobbler! Service was impeccable (thank you to our lovely server), and the environment is lovely. I will be back to try the full menu!

I dont know where to begin. Such a hidden gem. The venue is stunning. The vibe is spectacular and the drinks are incredibly refreshing.

Yelp
Historic Star Lounge, tucked inside the Hyatt House in Midtown Sacramento, is a restaurant that feels like a well-kept secret. The hotel itself is unassuming, but stepping into the elevator and ascending to the star-emblazoned floor builds a sense of anticipation--almost like entering a speakeasy. Upon arrival, the staff was warm and welcoming, setting the tone for a great experience. We kicked things off with the Lucky Star Old Fashioned, which leaned much sweeter than a traditional old fashioned. The honey fig syrup was the dominant flavor, making it a good option for those who prefer a sweeter take on the classic. Surprisingly, one of the standout moments was the bread and butter service. The Meyer lemon herb butter was packed with flavor, and the slightly crispy yet soft bread slices made it a simple but memorable starter. For entrées, we ordered the 8oz Wagyu Bavette and the Potato Gnocchi. The Wagyu was rich and flavorful, paired perfectly with dino kale that was cooked beautifully. The potato gratin crisp had good flavor but was slightly chewy. Meanwhile, the gnocchi was undeniably homemade--light, pillowy, and tender. While the dish was delicious, it could have used just a bit more sauce to bring everything together. Overall, the experience at Historic Star Lounge was fantastic. The hidden location, friendly service, and well-executed dishes make it a spot worth revisiting. Whether you're a hotel guest or a local looking for an intimate and well-crafted dining experience, this place is a must-visit. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
We visited Star Lounge for a Valentine celebration. Our reserved table gave us a view of the whole restaurant and bar; we particularly liked the real candlelight on the large table and sideboards. The charcuterie board was exquisite. Everything tasted amazing. There were plenty of toasted rounds for the cheeses and meats. He ordered the bavette, substituting asparagus for the creamed spinach. It was so beautifully cooked. He said it was the best steak plate he'd ever had, as a whole. I opted for the mussels frites and bread service for my main. The mussels were delicious and the broth perfect. The frites were the perfect size, texture and seasoning. The focaccia bread was unbelievably good! A star bake if ever I've eaten one. Two flat notes were the French 75 tasted flat, like the sparkling wine was from the night before. We returned it and opted for a bottle of sparkling wine. The second was the paprika butter compound with the bread service had no salt, and there was none on the table. It was a strong flavor but needed the salty punch to make it jive with the bread. On the whole we really enjoyed our evening there and hope to return before too long!

Yelp
My best friend and I visited the Historic Star Lounge (located inside of the Hyatt House hotel) in Sacramento, CA on Friday, 1/31/25, around 8 PM. I discovered this place from attending the Yelp Event (Sacramento Sips) back in October 2024. As far as the specialty cocktail, I decided to get the Pom Reader. It had reposado tequila, Brucato amaro, pomegranate, lime, and cranberry spice. My best friend got the Krakow Salt Mine (vodka, apple cider, lemon, and sea salt). We both thought that our drinks were delightful and enjoyable to consume. The indoor ambiance was classical and gorgeous. I loved the dim lighting and candles throughout the entire place. The vibe was everything. The service was a miss during the visit, unfortunately. No one was available at the front entrance/host desk and we were never greeted either. We decided to proceed to the bar. Upon approaching the bar, the bartenders requested for us to move out of the way, as the area we were standing was reserved for serving drinks. We had to scout for another area at the bar. The staff members did not strive to make any proper accommodations for seating. It was a challenging situation. Overall, the Historic Star Lounge makes great cocktail drinks. However, customer service needs to be improved.

Yelp
Amazing happy hour drink specials!! I ordered the fig Old Fashioned which was definitely a smooth cocktail. I also had the seasonal Pom margarita another flavorful cocktail. Both drinks paired nicely with the olives and smoked nuts that we ordered. Finally we had the burgers and fries which were scrumptious as they were topped with a smoked white cheddar. Atmosphere of this lounge is sexy, dark and fabulously romantic. Candles and chandeliers adorn the lounge along with luxurious dark velvet chairs and couches. Even the music they were playing which included top 40 and old school r&b added to the relaxing vibe. Definitely a great spot for a chill romantic fun evening-

Yelp
While this place had a sexy and historical vibe to it and the ambience was nice service was a miss unfortunately. We stood at the hostess stand for 10 minutes without help before finding our way to the bar where we were shoo'ed away without being given any alternative seating. However once we found a spot at the bar the drink were balanced and incredible and all the food smelled incredible. Many of the people around me couldn't stop telling me how great the bar bites were. So despite the busy crowd being mismanaged the drinks and ambience were beautiful. I'd say 7/10, a little improvement to be made.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service! I've been here many times and they do not disappoint. I love their appetizers, and their food. You simply can't go wrong with what you order, they make everything absolutely delicious. Their drinks are always great, and I enjoy them even more in this dark, cozy, vibe type of restaurant. This lounge always gives me the warm and relaxing feeling, even when at the bar. And if you can get off work early and enjoy their Happy Hour (M-F, 3-6p) please do!

Vanessa V.

Yelp
This place is magic (period). I've been there more than a handful of times with various friends and family and everyone has enjoyed it there. The food and drinks have been great. The ambiance is 10/10. The music is always a vibe (usually early 2000s mix). It's just a classy -- meets sexy spot!

Yelp
I stopped by this lounge based on a recommendation from another establishment and it was a great suggestion. The hotel as well as the lounge have a very classy and inviting decor. I was able to grab a seat at the bar and the bartenders were super attentive and helpful. I ordered a mocktail and dessert and both were good. The lounge was starting to get a bit busy so I cut my visit short. I loved the classic, cozy, yet upscale feel of this establishment and will be sure to visit again the next time I'm in Sacramento.

Yelp
Came for the Dine Downtown experience and it was amazing! Our server Julian was super kind and attentive! He made our night! The food was delicious! The mussel frites were the highlight of the dishes! The braised short rib was surprisingly heavy for the portion! Can't wait to visit again!

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Dreamy and classy. This place is...wow...just wow. It is so unexpected...walk up the stairs and BAM it's spectacular! It has a "secret" vibe to it but it's not at all hidden. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Fun cocktails! Great beautiful lively hip atmosphere. I have been there when it has been crowded ~ so be flexible on not getting a table. Definitely a Sacramento treasure, Recommend 100%!

Sukhveer K.

Yelp
An amazing place for date night with your partner or friends. They have a great menu for cocktails and small bites. The ambiance is high end and has a classy vibe. The bartender was very nice and helpful. Definitely will be back for drinks!

Yelp
Had heard about this place and how cool it was so we were eager to try it for a date night. We found street parking fairly easy and walked up the stairs to the 3rd floor of the hotel. It's a dimly lit restaurant with great ambiance! We had made a reservation in advance and were seated fairly quickly - we sat on the side opposite the bar, although the bar side looked a bit more lively. The host or maybe the manager seated us and said our server would be with us shortly, but it took almost 20 minutes for her to come and ask us what we wanted to drink. It seemed like she was one of the few servers working, but it was not a great start to the meal. They had a list of wine bottles that were on super sale (final few) so we ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir for only 45 dollars followed by the beet napolean (beet salad), the Coq Au Vin (chicken), and the potato gnocchi bolognese. The beet salad was delicious with the whipped burrata and the coq au vin was pretty good too. Unfortunately, the gnocchi was not what I was expecting. It was a decent portion size but it had this weird smoky flavor to it. There wasn't anything pointing to the fact that it would be smoky and if I had known that I'm not sure I would have ordered it. We would consider going back for drinks with friends, but I don't think I'll be going back for dinner anytime soon.

Yelp
Dined here with some friends and was surprised that it was also Dine Downtown week. The majority of our table opted for the DD menu. - Mussels: tasty, flavorful broth. - Braised short ribs: some of my veggies were still undercooked, but the dish, overall, was fantastic. The short ribs were tender and extremely flavorful. - Crème brûlée: classic in its preparation and taste, so no complaints at all. The others members in our party who ordered off the main menu also seemed to enjoy their dishes. Service was great, ambiance was cool, and we all left with happy bellies. Don't forget that there's an elevator off to the right when you enter the building. We sat next to the stairs and witnessed several patrons huffing and puffing as they reached the top. It's one way to clear off some calories before a good meal. :)

Yelp
Recently, visited for their Dine Downtown Promotional Week and I am happy to say I would come back for their drinks and appetizers. Food & Drinks: (4/5) Mussel Frites - My favorite dish of the night. The unique flavor profiles were unlike anything I've had before. The sauce and aioli paired perfectly with the frites and mussels. Would come back just for this. (3/5) Braised Short Ribs - Quite underwhelming. The vegetables were undercooked and there was nothing special about their braised short ribs or the creamy polenta. (4/5) Creme Brulee - nothing special, it tasted like any other creme brulee. (3.5/5) Salmon Tartare (Not part of Dine Downtown Promotion) - The flavor profile was lacking, and the salmon was diced so finely that it lost its taste and texture. (4/5) Pom Reader - delicious if you dont like the taste of alcohol, but nothing extraordinary Ambiance: (4.5/5) Perfect spot for date night. The restaurant's dim lighting and soft background music created an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. However, the space felt a bit small, with the tables placed relatively close together. Note, in order to get to the restaurant, you have to go through the Hyatt House and go up three flights of stairs. Service: (4.5/5) The server was highly attentive throughout the dinner service, perfectly timing each course and always confirming if we were finished before clearing dishes.

Jason N.

Yelp
Overall? We stumbled onto this place for a last minute date night, and it kind of crushed it. It's tucked away on the third floor of the Hyatt downtown, which already feels exclusive in a cool, low key way. The vibe was early 19th century charm equipped with dim lighting, candles, the works. It's basically setting you up to feel like a mysterious millionaire sipping scotch in a time machine. Perfect for an intimate night out Parking? Street Now, service wise, it took a hot minute to get started, around five minutes before anyone even showed up. But credit where it's due, the waitress was great. She was clearly working hard, but obviously could've used some backup What we ordered: Promotional Prix Fixe Menu (5/5): This was an absolute win. Started with mussel fries, which is exactly the kind of unexpected starch seafood combo that works way better than it should. Then came braised ribs with polenta, a pairing that felt like a warm hug for your taste buds. Finished strong with a solid crème brûlée Salmon (5/5): Fresh, flaky perfection with just the right sear. Pair it with fingerling potatoes swimming in this sauce that was oddly addictive and some well cooked broccolini, and you've got yourself a dish that punches above its weight

Yelp
Historic Star Lounge is truly a hidden gem, and such a perfect evening for our anniversary dinner. The moment we stepped in as you walked up the staircase, the vibe was chill with its warm, dimmed lighting, setting the tone for evening. The service was impeccable, with staff who made us feel like the evening was tailor-made just for us, so attentive! Each dish we ordered tasted absolutely amazing, with rich flavors to each meal and we even had dessert. Check out what we had for dinner. A def must try place, truly a hidden gem.

Keylo P.

Yelp
This place is on my top 5 bars in Sacramento. Historic Star Lounge is located inside the Hyatt House Hotel. The ambience is incredible as the hotel is a historic building. Highly recommend grabbing dinner for an anniversary or date night. Al, the bartender is one of the best mixologists and will have you set up with their best selections of beverages. Would highly recommend to any visitors or locals.

Darci K.

Yelp
A star is born! What a lovely venue located in the heart of midtown in the historic building that is now occupied by the Hyatt House Hotel. Diners tip: reservations are a must. There are numerous special events throughout the year and they are definitely a must try. The dinner that we attended was a special event, and everything from start to finish was lovely. The cocktail hour was a fun chat in mingle with new friends, and the host of the event. The caviar and champagne were an absolute special touch that made the stars come out and sparkle. The lounge is located on the third floor, and once you step through the doors, there is a lovely level of intimacy and warmth that you will feel. We were able to be seated near the band and it felt like we had our own personal concert. The numerous different types of adult beverages, including champagne really kicked the evening off and kept the fun flowing. Most of the meal was tasty and enjoyable. For a pricey meal, and I do mean, pricey, I don't think the cost and the quality were aligned. The flavor profiles were off in each one of the dishes and it's definitely not something that I'd want to have again. However, because I enjoyed the space and the customer service was impeccable, I would definitely want to go back just for that experience. The corn chowder which was served with chorizo, was completely off, balanced. The soup was cold and tasted like it had just been pulled out of the refrigerator, and the chorizo was a little overdone and slightly salty. The "steak salad ", was an interesting layer of textures and flavors. We were told that the meat had been smoked, but it tasted more like something that had been sitting and smoked flavor and not actually placed on a smoker. The meat was very tender, but I didn't care for the flavor whatsoever. The salad/veggies were an odd combo. The veggies were undercooked, and the cold components of the salad weren't cold. The croutons look like little heels of a loaf of bread in the flavor. Profile of everything combined just did not make for a tasty bite. Dessert for me was a biggest disappointment. It was labeled as banana cream pie, but it was a couple of slices of over ripe bananas on a crumbled vanilla wafer, and some funky whipped cream topping. I'm not sure what the thought process was, but I actually did not finish the dessert. Yes, it was that bad. A lovely location, and lovely staff. It's definitely worth a visit just to feel transported to a European experience.

Ken F.

Yelp
Wow - the setting and the ambience in this old building were magnificent - but the layout and entrance were a bit confusing and not people friendly. From the street, you walk into a lobby with staircases on both sides and no real indication of where the restaurant is - so you have to kind of guss and hope you're right - as you ascend the 3 stories of stairs. The food was good quality, most of the time but the menu is extremely limitied - only 4 main dishes. My sons ragot was also lukewarm but the other dishes were good - but not great. The mixed drinks were ver good and everyone agreed on this. The wine list was also somewhat short, and with no vintages listed next to the wines, it was a bit amateurish. Fianlly the service: like most restaurants these days, they seemed to be undestaffed and the wait fo drinks and our food after the drinks was too long and we felt the staff wa bt overworked to be able to provide good service.

Jessyca O.

Yelp
Sweet-and-Sour Experience I've been a loyal fan of this spot! But tonight bit of a mixed bag. It took about 20-25 minutes for the server to swing by, but honestly, I didn't mind--had emails to tend to. I ordered the Palm Reader cocktail, when it arrived, it just wasn't hitting right. Super sweet- sour mix heavy but also tart--like my taste buds were in a battle of extremes. It felt off, so I kindly asked to swap it for something else, explaining that it wasn't sitting well with me. My friend tried it and said that is going to hurt your stomach. Our server seemed nice about it at first, but oddly, she left the drink at the table while bringing the new cocktails (which, by the way, were amazing). Things started to get weird. We ordered calamari while deciding on entrées, and she said she'd be back to take our main order since we were unsure - she insisted we take a minute to figure it out. She disappeared. Another server eventually brought the calamari, and by then, our drinks were empty. The new server--super sweet--let us know it was last call for cocktails. We mentioned we hadn't ordered entrées yet, and she looked surprised, saying the kitchen might already be closed. Thankfully, she checked and got the kitchen was willing to whip up a steak for us, which we really appreciated! We let her know we did want order a bottle of wine with dinner. She said she'd be back. Then our OG server reappeared, bringing us repeat of our cocktails, which confused us bc above conversation. We said 'wait?! We discussed ordering a bottle of wine' and then we said 'actually it's okay, we'll take these.' She replied with "well are you sure?! once these are at your table, they can't come off your ticket" felt odd--was this about the drink I sent back? If so, the whole situation felt unnecessarily awkward. She also said well these drinks are probably ab the same amount of alcohol of one full bottle of wine, uhmm...?? They were old fashions .. but we're not teenagers looking to get smashed. We noticed the bartender still serving others after last call, which added to the mystery. Typically, this place has flawless service, so we couldn't help but wonder if the vibe shifted because I sent back the first drink. Finally, after finishing our steak, the lights flipped on (hint taken), but we still didn't have our check. Once it arrived, the Palm Reader I had sent back was on the tab. We chuckled it off but someone came up and inquired ab us discussing the bill and I said everything was okay. She was so so kind. She explained that they don't automatically remove items unless specifically requested, which was... interesting given the circumstance. I hope that isn't their protocol this place is way too classy of place to undercut themselves like that. No hard feelings here. The food and drinks were solid overall. The whole experience felt a little off-kilter--like one small hiccup snowballed into an unnecessarily awkward evening.

Yelp
The star lounge was a gathering place for the affluent women of Sacramento while their husbands were busy at their men's clubs... Lol now it is something special for all to enjoy with wonderful drinks and plates served up by the most mannerly staff... You can just take a deep breath and relax... I'm sure you know the feeling!

Betsy R.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite go-to places for happy hour and/or a girls night out when we want the bougie vibe. The service was excellent for our most recent visit with a party of 10. For most of the party it was their first time and they were still talking about it days later. The space has that comfy/hip feel to it. I get a 20s vibe from it too. I love all that exposed brick, the dark wood floors and those big beautiful windows. They have a wonderful selection of craft cocktails including a Lavender Bees Knees that is just delightful and a seasonal margarita that was also popular amongst the group. Since we were there during happy hour we took advantage of that menu because why not?! Everything was delicious - some had the braised short rib tacos, we had a hummus platter, some frito misto, olives and crispy potatoes on the table. Have to give a shout out the servers as well b/c they really took care of us, always ensuring we had what we needed and clearing our tables as we ate. I live walking distance but they do offer a valet if you want to pay for convenience but you can usually find street parking pertty easily. It's 2 hour metered parking around the hotel but it ends at 6pm so you don't have to pay after that. Def a great place for dinner, drinks, happy hour and dates.

Joyce W.

Yelp
Great ambiance and delicious foods and drinks at the Historic Star Lounge. Enjoy a relaxing environment and sip on various creative drinks with or without alcohol (hint: their mocktails are really good too). Service is excellent and attentively without being overbearing. The decor is tastefully done, keeping as much as the original architecture and furniture as possible of the building that was once The Eastern Star Hall building.

Linh N.

Yelp
Great food, drinks and exceptional service. It's a quaint restaurant, dimmed lighting, second floor, with windows overlooking the park at the Capitol. Parking can be tricky but they have valet. My friends enjoyed the drinks and plenty of options. The food was very flavorful and delicious.

Mary T.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! This restaurant is so nice! The atmosphere was elegant and classy. The service was way on the top of my expectations. The drinks were delicious with unique flavor play. Our food we order was great and we enjoyed our experience here. This restaurant in inside a hotel and there is valet parking and street parking. The bar was nice looking and looked pretty. Great food and services!

Michael W.

Yelp
Great spot for a date night or hanging out with friends. Dimly lit dining room with framed mirrors all around adding charm to the speakeasy like ambiance. Open late on weekends up to 1am. Street parking is not too difficult. Enter through the main lobby and walk up the grand staircase to the 3rd floor of historic Hyatt House. Went there for drinks only and ordered some snacks like nuts and olives which are tasty and good companions for the drinks. Will come back to try the food next time. Highly recommend this place for a great night out.

Kelly B.

Yelp
What an amazing restaurant and hidden GEM. It used to be a Masonic hall and is now a boutique hotel. Walking upstairs to the dining room makes you feel like you have stepped back to the days of speakeasies. But an elegant one. They kept the original bricks inside and it's just a masterpiece with a lovely view of the park at Sutter's Fort. This place is equally as good for major celebrations, intimate dining or informal gatherings of friends. I can't think of any better experience besides Bibas (which is no longer open) or the Kitchen (which is next to impossible to get into) Service is 5 star, attentive and delightful. The food is delicious and artfully plated. They have a great selection of artisanal cocktails and lovely wines. The only downside is that like other places downtown, finding parking can be problematic. This place is worth a visit (or several.)

Ginger D.

Yelp
Yummmmm! Beautiful ambiance. Located in one of the newest hotels on K street. You go upstairs and it's this adorable spot! Didn't get to take a ton of photos because I was on a date. We had the fries... bomb! Most amazing sauce. Shared a bottle of red. I had the - SPRING LAMB SUGO & PAPPARDELLE. One of the best pastas I've had in a long time! Melt in your mouth!!!! 1,000 out of 10! The carrot cake was also huge and delicious! Service was great! My only notice was it took forever to be able to pay we ended up having to go to the bar to pay. Almost not sure if our server forgot about us. No worries though! Wouldn't stop me from coming back!!! Dellllish!!!!

Yelp
This place had been on my list for a while now . We had dinner prior to coming here. We just wanted a drink before heading back home . On Yelp it says they close at 1am it was about 11:30 when we got there . First off the property is beautiful I mean the historical building is amazing. This bar is located inside the Hyatt Hotel once you enter you go up these beautiful stairs to the lounge area. You will walk in to dim lights, mature crowd not too loud just perfect. The reason why I'm giving this location 2 stars is because as soon as we sat down, the lady came and said that they were closing at 12 and we could get one drink . I did ask her that on Yelp. It said they close at 1am she said on Google it says midnight she said sorry about that . Honestly, I don't really use Google I only use Yelp so I don't know who's in charge of it, but the hours are wrong on there. Anywho... okay so the people that were there started leaving and any new people coming in they would get rejected because they were closing soon. It ended up being just me and my husband and another group of ladies. Our drinks did take a while to get. As soon as the ladies left, they turned on the lights, turned off the music and we pretty much felt like we were getting kicked out. No one ever checked on us not even so we could pay our bill . The cleaning started pretty hard-core. I felt so uncomfortable that I had to leave my $17 drink that I had just purchased. They made us feel uncomfortable and not welcomed . I know that they were closing, but we are still paying customers trying to finish our drink. It was really weird and awkward. Honestly, I think it was pretty rude. They made sure the ladies felt comfortable not to turn on the lights on them, but on us they did. So we left our drinks and took off. We were not even able to finish them . We were highly disappointed. It's all about the way you talk to people and customer service is key and we sure did not get that here. I don't think we will be back.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the ambiance of this place. Very glam with a historic feel. Food was delicious but the menu options were pretty limited. They have very limited seating but we had no issues getting in without reservations. Service was pretty good, though it took longer to get a glass of wine than it did a cocktail, which seemed odd. Overall, a good option.

Yelp
Well! Pleasantly surprised. This place is beautiful and it is absolutely rich in history. The dimly lit and intimate atmosphere make for a great date night. I was here for an event and the energy was electric. Everything I tasted from the menu was great, however, we were forgotten on a couple of the dishes & when brought up to the server, we were told there weren't anymore... yet she found some for two at a small table next to us who were also skipped well after the fact. I thought it was a bit off-putting to handle the situation in that manner, however, I digress. The drinks were definitely standouts. Get an espresso martini! I can't comment on parking as I had a rideshare but there was valet in front. This lounge is definitely a hidden gem. I initially would've seen Hyatt & skipped it over but DON'T do that. The Hyatt House itself is stunning and worth a visit or stay as well.

Yelp
First time in for me on a rainy Tuesday evening to try their Dine Downtown 2024 menu with Judi M. Located at the Hyatt House, this is a charming historical building, now a hotel nearby Sutters Fort. The hotel has a valet and street parking only. I used the parking garage at 2901 K Street (where Orangetheory Midtown is). City of Sac reservations top hits are parking lots closer to Beach Hut and Chicago Fire. To get to the Historic Star Lounge once inside the Hyatt, look for and follow the small signs with the star symbol. We took the elevator up to the 3rd floor. The lounge itself was dim/dark but cozy, with exposed brick walls and mirrors, super comfy lounge chairs with small tables, and the bar, of course. Jazzy music in the background and very pleasant, prompt service! The timing of each course was perfect! We started with the ahi poke nachos/wontons before diving into the Dine Downtown Menu. For their menu, there was only one possible choice per course, but we were intrigued. Turns out it seemed simple, yet there was nothing basic about it. First was the truffled leek and potato soup, mm that cheese crisp, too, was a nice touch. Second was a T-bone Veal Chop. I saw other reviews saying they sometimes ran out of the veal and had to sub in a ribeye, but we lucked out. This was smoky and tender, with brussels and polenta. Third was the double chocolate torte; it was not too sweet at all, just right. Also, what a presentation! The plates had vintage designs to match the overall vibe. This menu was executed so well, my props to the chef! I'd definitely come back to this hidden gem. The meal was truly such a pleasant surprise/experience.

Yelp
We arrived at this boutique hotel and checked in. The room was well appointed, clean, with a very comfortable bed. We made our way down to happy hour around 5:00pm, just one floor down on the third floor in the Historic Star Lounge. The fig old fashions were amazing and paired well with the crudités and hummus. The staff were able to accommodate our dinner reservations a little early, and we sat down to a beautiful table with lit candles in the background and all around. The staff were very eager to ensure that we had a pleasant experience. We started off with the beet and goat cheese napoleon salad, which was fantastic, we probably could have shared. We both had the beef Bolognese Ragu gnocchi and it was cooked perfectly. Topped dinner off with a bottle of Baca Double Dutch Zinfandel. Fabulous experience that we have already recommended to our friends.

Yelp
Made Sunday evening dinner reservations for my girlfriend and I. We arrived about 30 minutes early and prior to arriving, called and asked the hostess about parking. She replied their was street parkimg and Valet though the hotel that neighbors the restaurant. We opted for valet and made our way upstairs to the Historic Star Lounge, which is nestle d above the Hyatt Hotel. And we were happily greeted by the two hostesses standing at the front entrance. They took our name and reservation time and promptly seated us at our table for two near the kitchen area. After taking in the nice ambiance which was dimly lit; perfect for intimate conversation. We order drinks and then food. I ordered my drink first which was sent to the bar, which my girlfriend eventually decided on a Zinfandel red wine. After our waiters suggestion of what he thought would go good with her steak dinner. Drinks: Zinfandel Moscow Mule Appetizer: Seasonal Veggie & Hummus Platter Main Courses: 10oz A5 Bavette Steak 16oz Marv Cut Ribeye Dessert: Whiskey Poached Pears Overall: Great ambiance for an intimate dinner, great service and wonderful food...would definitely come back, and for sure recommend.

Yelp
Our 2nd Dine Downtown 2024 experience. Located at the 3rd floor of Hyatt House. You can either take the elevator or stairs. This place is good for date nights or friend bonding. Dimly lit with either candles or cute lamp on each table. We got seated by the stairs. We started off with cocktails, I had the Just Peachy and hubby had the Rye Not. The Just Peachy was really good for me, the Rye Not was a little bit on the strong side. Then we got our Dine Downtown 3 course meal as follows: Truffled Potato & Leek Soup - so good 14 oz Veal T-bone Chop - perfectly cooked although we weren't asked how we wanted it, could do with more seasoning but it's still good Double Chocolate Torte - delicious Their Dine Downtown menu only had 1 choice for $45 per person. Arnel opted for the wine pairing for a total of $75. Parking: we got lucky to be able to snag street parking close to the restaurant which is free after 6pm. They do have valet parking available as well. So far so good. I do recommend this place. This is another great Dine Downtown 2024 experience. 12 4 2024

Yelp
This is our second dinner at Dowtown Sac's Restaurant Week 2024. We mutually chose this historic lounge for its menu and locale. Got lucky on our first try with street parking. Arrived around 5 pm. and paid for only an hour as Saturday's fees max up to 6 pm. We rode the elevator from the lobby with the cozy fireplaces and pressed "3" marked with the star logo. Turned left to arrive at the dimmed venue illuminated with oil and battery-powered lamps. Got seated by the stairs and informed our server that we were getting the 3-course Dine Downtown tasting menu with wine pairing for me. We added on inebriants from the specialty cocktails menu. Just Peachy. Vodka based fruity & fizzy Rye Not. Banana infused bourbon & bitters 1st course. Truffled Potato & Leek Soup paired with a Bourgogne (Burgundy) Chardonnay. Notable was the cheddar crisp and chive oil 2nd course. 14 oz. T-Bone Veal Chop paired with Willamette Valley (Oregon) Pinot Noir. Notable were the crispy brussel sprouts and polenta. 3rd course. Double Chocolate Torte paired with Rainwater Madeira. The chocolate caviar was a nice touch of flavor. We exited through the stairs, which was just a short amount of steps from the lobby. More pics ensued, of course. It is truly a great place for an intimate date with savory plates, strong cocktails and curated vino. Taking photos was a challenge due to the lack of lighting, so we made do with strategic placements of our table's lamp and made sure our cameras were steady. Another memorable dinner for us during Sacramento's Restaurant Week 2024.

Yelp
This is a lovely bar/lounge. We were there for a group holiday gathering. The staff was attentive, the food was delicious and the ambiance was a perfect speak easy vibe. The only issue was with the sound volume of the musician. While we did enjoy the music, unfortunately, we were seated directly in front of the speakers and we often found it difficult to hear each other talking. We did inquire about perhaps lowering the volume but we were told, basically, no. Other than that, it was a nice evening at the Star Lounge.

Yelp
First time coming here and came here for their dine downtown special menu. My date wanted to try their veal so here we were. They are located inside Hyatt building. The restaurant looks really nice but too dark of an ambiance for me. Luckily we made a reservation so we didn't have to wait long. After seated, our server Sarah came by to introduce herself. She gave us the dine downtown menu and told us they were out of veal for the day so instead they would be serving 10oz ribeye. Bummer because my date wanted to try veal and chose this place for a reason. We decided to stay and try their food. Each course took time to come out. Truffled potato & leek soup: nice presentation, super creamy. Overall a good soup but a bit salty. Ribeye: our server didn't ask us how we wanted our steak so it came out medium done. Luckily it wasn't too bloody for me as I normally like my steak medium well. Steak was seasoned well. It came with crispy brussel sprouts and polenta. Both were good. Double chocolate torte: this one took a really long time to come out. It was really good though! I honestly think this was the best course of the night lol. Not too sweet. Overall, everything was good and had a good experience. Our server was awesome and attentive even though it was a busy night.

Yelp
The first time I came to this restaurant w/ 2 people the food was great, our waitress was attentive, and the table I had reserved was in a great area where it didn't feel stuffy or crowded. Perfect place for a date. The 2nd time around was yesterday on Valentine's day, it was definitely busy so I cannot completely fault the service. I reserved bar seating for 1 to treat myself, and I felt like I was being pushed to the side. I noticed people who had sat at the bar after me were getting attended to more quickly and checked in on more frequently than I was. I don't know if it was because I was alone, but it did ruin the experience a bit. Overall, would not dine here alone again, however I do still think this is a nice place to come with company.

Yelp
The Star Lounge delivered! You definitely get the speakeasy ambiance and the drinks were great. The food was excellent. From the flavorful hummus appetizer to the steak and gnocchi, five stars! Our server was attentive and very personable. You definitely get what you pay and can't wait ro visit in the summer to enjoy the great view.

Yelp
At first it was dark weird spot and we were sat in this weird corner but the menus came l, the drinks started coming and it all came together. I had the salmon and the skin was awesome (bacon of the sea). Lady had gnocchi bolognese. Everything was good. Waitress was decent at best given the environment. Wouldn't return but it is something to experience.

Yelp
Historic Star Lounge is a must try place in Sacramento! This is perfect for a romantic date night - it's situated on the third floor of the Hyatt House. When you walk up the stairs, you enter into a beautiful brick structure on the top floor. This place is on the registry for the Historic Places in Sacramento. Please make a reservation in advance when you want to eat here! We wanted to go here for drinks and dinner but we made a reservation the same day. Our reservation was at 7pm and we arrived at 6 ish. We went to the bar for a couple drinks prior, which were good. The reason that I took off two stars is because the hostess wanted us to eat at the bar instead of the table that we reserved. I just found this tasteless because we made a reservation to eat at a table. I understand that the Historic Star Lounge is very busy and has limited space. We celebrating something, which is why we wanted to eat in a little bit more intimate setting than at the bar. The food was delicious! I got the salmon, which was significantly better than the salmon that I recently had at Ella's. It was super moist but extremely crisp. The base wasn't covered in oil - like how most restaurants usually serve it. In summary, I would go back but probably wouldn't go to the bar to prevent the confusion about seating.

Yelp
The hummus was very tasty! Great fresh veges served with it. The game hen moist and flavorful. Potato salad and deviled egg with it tasted fresh, homemade, and delicious! Excellent short rib taco! Charcuterie plate was great! Loved the chocolate dessert pot de crème- although it was tiny! Creative cocktails, and they corked wine for us. Classy, clean restaurant inside hotel. Service was absolutely amazing- thanks Colin!

Yelp
Cute upstairs bar in the Hyatt! The place was dimly lit and had an old speakeasy vibe, really liked it! I came for happy hour with a coworker and we sat at the bar. You can tell there are plenty of regulars that visit and with good reason. All the bartenders are friendly and know what they are doing. We got the Kentucky mule, seasonal margarita, slider, and fries from the happy hour menu and the global warming, old fashioned, and whiskey sour from the regular menu. Everything was amazing! I liked the old fashioned the best but the whiskey sour was so aesthetic with the egg white top, forgot to take a picture though. Gotta also tip my hat to Chris, our bartender. He noticed the aioli didn't come out with our fries and corrected it for us before we even noticed and the aioli was so amazing and creamy so I'm glad he did!

Yelp
What a stunning dining room! We stopped by for happy hour, and it will definitely become a regular spot for me due to its fabulous ambiance, excellent service, and great drink prices. However, we were disappointed with the food selection on the happy hour menu. The Frito Misto was a letdown, with a scant amount of calamari, and the Birria Taco lacked flavor. On the plus side, the wine was decent and well-priced for happy hour.

Yelp
Was excited to go here, heard wonderful things, and must say the food and cocktails lived up to it, however I must say the service kind of ruined it for us, excruciatingly slow, and the ONLY time our waitress came by was to take our order or drop off, never to check on us or our empty glasses, so know going in it may be slow, but the food is wonderful
