"A new South Austin brewery opened on June 5 at 4700 Burleson Road in the McKinney neighborhood. Founded by a group of engineers passionate about beer and colonizing Mars (originally called Boca Chica Brewing and not officially affiliated with SpaceX), the operation frames a mission to donate 1% of profits to science education, serve the taproom as a gathering spot for the space community, and eventually develop techniques to brew beer on Mars; it also styles itself the “Official Brewery of Mars,” though that designation is not official. Early offerings include Lucky Launch Day (a Mexican lager), Of Kölsch I Still Love You (a honey kölsch), the Terraformer (a red ale), and hazy IPAs Starhopped and Moon Base Alpha, with more beers planned, and the brewery has trademarked “GigaBeer,” the Tesla beer Elon Musk announced at Gigafest 2021.
