"Recently instituted a modest price increase on its regular brewed coffee—all sizes are up 10 to 20 cents—so a tall brewed now runs roughly $1.95 to $2.15 depending on location (excluding tax). The change affects most of its roughly 8,000 company-owned U.S. stores while leaving espresso-based beverages and Frappuccinos alone. Company spokespeople say this follows a series of small menu adjustments (about 1–2% over the past year) and last fall’s selective increases (up to 30 cents on roughly 10% of the menu); the chain appears to be using minor, frequent hikes as a low-risk way to raise revenue without driving away regulars.
