Read the other reviews about the quality of staff and lack of training, I'm standing in the store waiting for my order now. I gave up on the line after standing in it for 10 minutes and put in a mobile order. It shouldn't take 20+ minutes for one drink. There's no hustle, the staff has sour attitudes and it's clear they don't care.

Downtown Detroit looks great! This Starbucks was located on a glorified downtown roundabout, the staff of as friendly but the availability of items sucked!

I've been here as a tourist for the past few days, and I've enjoyed getting to know the workers here—Faith, Rayshad, and Ladna—all hard workers with smiles on their faces. I've been here with my family, watching such fast-paced workers, and they keep up great service despite the endless rushes lately. Drinks getting made to perfection the thanksgiving parade was such a blast and seeing the workers laugh still while the cafe was full and spirits still bright

I was grateful to have the staff that I encountered here. Everybody was genuinely nice and helpful in making my stay pleasant. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I got this thing called a Caramel Latte and it was delicious…..I don’t even think people say delicious anymore, but that’s what it was! From Erika who made the drink to Dana who took care of the store ensuring quality service, this is a great spot for a quick stop for coffee….Im a Caramel Latte drinker now!

Nice place with seating that is close to the courthouse for a coffee and something to eat, in lunch break. And it is in downtown, at the ice skating rink, in front of the Microsoft building and Chase tower, the famous Parc and Woodward Fountain. A clean, sunny and pleasant place to take a break with seating. Charging? Yes, they have plenty of wall charging outlets too. Amazing. So, you can wrap up your work too.

They do not know how to do basic math and got an attitude and right when I handed the cashier $20; she put the bill down and walked away as I tried to get the $0.05 out (total was $14.05). Got the 5 cents out and someone else was cashing me out, instead of the one that took my order when I said I have the 5 cents. The other cashier/barista input $15.00 instead of $20.05. Clearly made a mistake moving too fast and not looking at what she was doing. I wanted exact change back and they still gave me $5.95 back instead of an even $6. They thought their cash would be short, I guess. But how when I paid cash and gave exact change. They don't know how to count and do simple/basic math without getting an attitude at the customer and not explaining to me what was going on for the hold up and why I could not get exact change back. I won't be back to this location for the manager's nasty attitude. Guy with dreads. I should have got my money back.

This is my favorite Starbucks- the staff and manager (Tony) are extremely kind. My drink is always made right. I appreciate the hard work and dedication to their craft and customer service. Thank you

Poor service overall. The barista was rude, and the location does not offer public restrooms. The cappuccino was very bad too.

For the "biggest Starbucks in Detroit" I expected more Bought some mugs and 3 drinks Didn't have enough indoor seating unfortunately But everything tasted amazing and friendly staff so I can't complain.

This location is my go to when I get a hankering for Starbucks. I typically order through the app while en route and consistently my order is ready when I arrive. The baristas are always friendly and polite. On occasion, I sit inside to enjoy my coffee while I read. Despite the constant flow of traffic in here, it's never been too loud or disturbing to my reading experience.

I ordered a very simple drink. Iced coffee, that's it. No sugar, nothing in it. Quite simple. When I drove off, I realized it was very sugary. Not sure why? By default, it does not normally include that. They need to pay more attention when it comes to filling peoples orders. The place was ok, a bit dirty.

Location is everything for this cafe. The furniture and space is negligible. However, I wanted something to go and sit across the street in a park like atmosphere at Campus Martius. I had the Passion Tea with lemonade. Refreshing but not something I would necessarily order again, but it hit the spot with an carry out option.

I love stopping by this Starbucks before I go to work. I usually arive before 7am, so I wait outside for about 10 minutes or walk over once it is 7. They always ask how we are doing and make small talk. We are regulars at this location. They always make the drink super fast, and there is no line which is nice. My drink is always perfect too. Never had issues before with my drink. The only reason this is not 5 stars though is because oncce it was snowing and freezing. Thw regular lady we love was not in this day. There was two young girls working and a long line outside. They kept us waiting outside past 7, not opening the door. The gentleman in front of us kept knocking and they ignored us. This never happened before. Still love this locatioon, right in the heart of Detroit.

Terrible service. Came in on a Saturday morning and waited 20+ mins for a tea. It was completely forgotten about. Every order was sitting in a queue but weren't being handed out to anyone resulting in cold food (that they had to take and throw away) and cold drinks that they had to remake. Won't be returning. :)

Stopped by Thursday. Noticed new hours posted closing at 6pm. We were there at 545pm. Doors locked. Two workers inside. They wouldn't acknowledge us nor open door to let us inside. We had walked a mile from our hotel. Very disappointed in the poor service but from the other reviews I've read seems par for the course at this location. Ridiculous. They make money in spite of themselves. If you want to close at 545 then post it on the door instead of 6pm.

I am pretty disappointed with my visit here. My order was not anything complex, but the cashier and barista did not seem to understand what was happening. A Venti Iced Hazelnut Latte Quad was my complete order. The cashier was not aware of what I said. I repeated "Venti Iced Hazelnut Latte Quad" to her. She looked confused and then asked me how much hazelnut flavoring I wanted in it. I responded with whatever the standard amount is for a venti. She then repeated it back to me but only as a Venti Iced Hazelnut Latte. I mentioned to her that she was missing the "quad". She then looked puzzled, again. I then said to her I wanted four shots of espresso in the latte. Mind you, this is not my first time ordering this drink from Starbucks, in general. This one from this specific location was overly sweet. I could not even taste the four shots of espresso because it was heavily masked by the sweetness. Honestly, the staff here need to be better equipped with the jargon associated with coffee.

I had a $50 gift card to spend and went here to get some bakery items for the office. Tried ordering in advance via the app with no luck so I walked from over from my office. I told the cashier I wanted an assortment of the pastries, no bagels, and I had $50 to spend. She was friendly and within five or so minutes after paying, I was handed a box. On returning to my office to share with my co-workers, I opened the box and it looked like a bunch of gas station pastries. They were neatly arranged and there was enough for everyone (barely). Feedback from co-workers: plain croissant was small and tasted pretty good. Blueberry scone was horrible - dry and stale. Coffee cake and cheese danish were good. I was not at all impressed with the quality or size of any of these items. I was grateful to have been given a $50 gift card, just hope next time it's from a place that has better bakery items.

Being smack dab in the middle of businesses, this location runs pretty efficiently. There's basically always a line but the staff always stays calm and gets orders out effectively and efficiently. Everyone always seems pleasant. For being such a busy location as well, the store itself stays very clean and organized. Although the line can wrap around the store, you won't be waiting incredibly long.

I basically only go to The Bucks when I have a gift card, but my first visit was fine. Didn't wait too long at 11am but they probably get really busy. THEY NEED ONLINE ORDERING, and I wish they had the Mercato stuff here! (Lunch menu)

Literally the worst Starbucks ever. The works make whatever drinks they feel like making....nothing like what you ordered. I come here daily because of work but I'm officially done with this place from how bad their drinks are. I recommend firing the whole staff and rehiring a band new one. Do better! I'm sick of this place.

Although Starbucks has since reversed its position that had prohibited employees from wearing paraphernalia, such as T-shirts or pins, supporting the "Black Lives Matter" movement, the damage has been done. Rainbow capitalism aside, they have shown their true colors and I will not be supporting them with my money any longer. Aside from that, anytime I have visited this particular location, my wait time has been astronomical. Service is slow and staff are not particularly friendly. Like, I don't need you to be my best friend but also please don't be straight up rude to me? To add insult to injury, this Starbucks isn't "truly" a Starbucks, which means no points, rewards, or free birthday drink. The store design itself is weird and they lack on-line ordering. Do yourself a favor and skip the 'Bucks in favor for a local business instead.

Not the Starbucks you are looking go to of 1) you are in a time crunch 2) you are looking to use some rewards points and 3) looking to get work done 4) looking for nitro brew. Possibly the prime location (right in Campus Martius) has this bucks buzzing all of the time but with only 2 registers the wait time here seems to be FOR EV ER. Somehow someway this Starbucks isn't technically a Starbucks... so don't come in here looking for that free birthday drink or any other reward you earned. For the location the layout seems to be odd. Lots of space to stand around for the long waits. Not a lot of tables for patrons looking to work in the winter time. No nitro brew. If you know, you know... so velvety... so creamy... Walk the block to the Westin, that Starbucks has it all! Or visit one of the many unique coffee shops in Detroit to get that heartwarming/ welcoming feeling. Pleasantly surprised in my cashier today.... she was friendly and welcoming. The lady calling out the drinks... quiet and could care less barely loud enough to hear a noise, left it up to the masses of those waiting to call out the name on the order.

i ordered a cheese danish and water it took them 20 mins to give me my order the danish was burnt the bathroom got locks on it and no tissue to wipe your behind employees are liars i asked how long in the order said he would do my order next and served several customers instead who came in WAY after me and i forgot to mention i saw a roach in the bathroom watching me squat and pee

Came to this Starbucks located in downtown Detroit before a concert so I could wait in line for 4 hours. This was the closest Starbucks in walking distance and I couldn't get a scooter because I am Canadian and I don't think I'll be able to download the app. So I walked, it wasn't bad and it was nice and warm when we walked in. I ordered a cafe misto with nonfat milk and one pump of pumpkin spice syrup, they didn't have any chocolate powder at the condiment stand, so I had to ask for it, and then the friendly barista put some on for me, that was nice. Prices, they're expensive no matter what country you're from. The washroom is clean and kept up, you do have to ask for a key since it is a downtown location I'm sure there are unwanted people trying to go in. Overall, it was a good experience, if I'm in the area again and want a coffee I might come back here.

Quite possibly the worst Starbucks I have ever been to. The service is what kills it, they are super slow and rude. Came in with some co-workers to get an afternoon coffee and was disappointed yet again by going here. Ordering was the same no eye contact and not really listening to what you order, then having to ask you again what did you want? After that rude ordeal of being ignored and praying that my order was correct we wait. The coffee pick up counter is dirty with spills and straw wrappers. We stand waiting while the employees chat and laugh and play grab ass. My coffee and my co-workers come out but we are missing one so we wait maybe it was a hard one to make. Nope they just forgot so I have to dam near jump the counter to get attention and ask where it is, they shrug and then ask what it was still no eye contact. Finally they write it on a cup and put it at the end of the line of orders! We had to wait another 10 min for the coffee that was ordered first before the 2 we already had were ordered. They never once said sorry or rushed to get it made. Just slid it on the counter through the spilled coffee and walked away. Incredibly rude with terrible service never again, I will just walk to new coffee shop.

I'm rating this compared to other Starbucks, not all coffee places. The room was bright and clean and comfortable, and the staff was cheery and prompt. Compared to NYC, my home, this was a BIG step up!

Nine out ten visits have been consistently bad. The problem is that it's the most convenient location downtown. For some reason I expected the traditional Starbucks Corporate customer service. Nope. Nada. Is it really Starbucks? Some of the staff is great and provides decent service. However, I've been there and seen so many incidents of crummy service. It is a slow wait and there will be staff just standing around. This location doesn't honor any promos (codes), but they do redeem your earned rewards. Overall, I would go to The Roasting Plant if in a rush and want a cup of coffee. I like Starbucks espresso, so I tolerate this location when I really need a caffeine fix. Oh how a Starbucks intervention is needed with the staff that works at this location.

None of the downtown locations are "real" Starbucks.. independently owned. When I first moved downtown I was informed this in a very rude manner by the barista who seemed excited to inform me they don't accept your rewards or participate in the pre-mobile orders. Starbucks definitely has a secret sauce and their espresso will really get you going! Hands down best Cafe Mocha I've ever experienced. However the Starbucks I know and love you get extra. If I can't pre-order for convenience then can the staff at least drink the product!? They could use the extra bump in productivity! I've felt more stress at this Starbucks then any other ever as the staff move like sloths. They work slowly and have zero sense of urgency. More stress waiting for an order no matter if they are busy or not. Not worth it for me further. It's great that their location alone will allow them to be profitable so they don't give a S#!* about you or your patronage. Unless you have nothing better to do than wait for what seems like an eternity no matter of business levels; do yourself a favor and find an alternative.. there are plenty of options near by!

2 other Starbucks were closed on a Saturday. So i went to the downtown location to redeem my soon to expire rewards. This location does NOT HONOR THE STARBUCKS REWARDS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!! so i left and went across the street to a LOCAL coffee place called roasting plant. They are fantastic. I come to Detroit for business 2 times a month every month and i will never go to this Starbucks again! Who operates in a downtown location and doesn't participate in the program? Roasting plant has great coffee and great staff.

I've had it with this place. Although it's one of the few coffee places open on weekends in downtown Detroit, the attitude of the personnel and the fact that they don't honor any Starbucks Gold Member benefits makes this store worthless. My previous time the manager ordered the employees to close the store because the Espresso machine was broken - yet you could still get in by entering the building through another door. Very smart!!!! What did it for me was my latest experience. I came in to buy a Frappuccino as a Gold Member and, when I asked why I didn't get my benefit, the employee answered snakily "oh, we're not corporate" as I pointed to the huge sign behind her that showed I was entitled to my benefit. It's not about the money, but being treated like this for what isn't a very special product isn't worth it. If you must get your Starbucks go to the Ren Cen.

A Starbucks is a Starbucks is a Starbucks... Unless it happens to have a patio with a prime view of Campus Martius. This is a great place to chill and people watch.

Fastest, most efficient location I've visited. There was a constant line wrapped around the store, but I was still in and out with a cappucino and a sandwich in about 5 minutes. Well done

Well.... I've used this Starbucks on a regular basis despite the terrible experiences I've had here.... and i don't wanna be be guy that only reports the bad... i will say there is a Caucasian short haired woman is the shining star at this location.. when she's at work everything flows so much better.... every single time i come here and she's working i have a great experience.... but when she's not working... it's a real shit show .... so this 5 stars is for her

I placed a huge order for my staff today... the young lady who assisted me was FANTASTIC! However there was a young many who was incredibly rude. I was not given my pastry, so I went back in to grab it. I asked him for it since she actually told him to get it for me the first time around. When I asked him, he did not say a word. I repeated it, thinking he did not hear me, however he still said nothing and rolled his eyes. Never once did he smile indicating that he heard me. I proceeded to tell him how disappointed I was in him since I had just received such great service from the young lady. He still said nothing. The young lady stepped in and said that he wasn't feeling well and proceeded to give me my pastry. WOW! Just WOW.... I placed a complained with the corporate headquarters and will address it with the manager of that Starbucks. I will continue to place a complaint until I hear back from Starbucks. This is not typical of the customer service at any Starbucks even ones in Target stores.

I was a little upset because they did not have the right size cups I am guessing that the could have ran out .Also I ordered two mango dragon fruit juice and they are supposed to be purple but it was pink that is it .Besides. That there was amazing service and kind workers

Long waits, always crowded or filled with smelly homeless people and a lot of times your order is wrong. Top offed with rude staff who won't be friendly to you unless you're a friend of theirs.

This is the worst Starbucks I've ever been to. I work in the building, so the location is convenient. But it is literally faster for me to walk across the street to a different cafe to get a coffee than it is for me to wait in line at this Starbucks. The cashiers rarely greet customers until they are directly in front of the register. This can take quite a while if there is anyone in front of you. It can take a while even if there is no one in front of you--the employees give zero fucks about service. Last week a cashier waited a full minute to take my order even though I was the only person in line and she was not doing any other work. She then informed me that she had been looking at her reflection in the cash register. I can't make this stuff up. If the drinks were made quickly then that, coupled with the location, might be enough to bring in my business. Not happening. The baristas are incredibly slow. I've waited 10+ minutes for a latte. This isn't artful espresso happening here at Starbucks--they're not real baristas. If this were an isolated incident then I might understand. But I've been there 4 times and every single time it's taken over 10 minutes for me to get a drink--sometimes, when there have been people in front of me, it's taken nearly 20 minutes. It's just not worth my time to get coffee here. Also, I second the reviewer who indicated that the sugar/cream bar is always dirty. Plus, the employees are more concerned about who they're texting, about chatting with co-workers, and about doing the absolute minimum amount of work. If I could have given zero stars I would have. The only up side is that you can see what it's like to live in slow motion when you try to get a coffee here.

Requested a a drink with sugar free syrup. The cashier must of had shit in her ears because I had to repeat my order three times. I got back to my office and looked up the codes on my drink because the drink had a funny taste. As it turns out she put it down for regular syrup. I need to watch my sugar intake and this messed me up. I was lucky enough to catch this early. I tossed it out will not not be doing business with this location again.

Literally the worst Starbucks I've ever been to, it's embarrassing. What's even worse is people visiting her even know it's terrible and it exceeds their expectations. If you are in a rush for a coffee go to the far superior roasting plant across the street. You will wait at least 5-10 minutes for a iced coffee here.

Not they typical high standards I'm used to from Starbucks. The drink orders were mostly correct...the part that made me want to write this was seeing the baristas put their hands inside the coffee cups with no gloves...I'm not sure they washed their hands after the cash register.

First startbucks I've been to where they lock the door 30 minutes before closing? And they close at 8:00 pm on a Saturday night. Does corporate know about this?

I came to this location on a Sunday morning (12/6/2015) at around 10am. The ladies who were working at that time were very nice and friendly and they knew their stuff. I will say that overall it was the best Starbucks experience I have ever had in my entire life. That may sound like an exaggeration but I promise you it is not. I was greeted nicely and asked what my order was. They accepted my reward from the app on my phone and I also ordered a breakfast sandwich. As I waited for my latte, I chatted with the barista making my drink. Somehow it was not communicated that I wanted soy, but she quickly made me a replacement. Oh my goodness, I cannot believe how pleasant they all were! Based on the other reviews this may have been a fluke, but I can only wish this were my regular Starbucks. Unfortunately, I live in California, and not all of our baristas are so nice. So thank you ladies for being the best!

What amazing service! My parents came to this Starbucks on 777 Woodward Ave on Saturday, and they were so pleased with the service they've been asking me to write a review nonstop! The baristas, Ms. Tiffany and Mr. Andre, were so helpful and kind, and my parents say they've never experienced any kind of service like this from Starbucks by a long shot. They appreciate the great attitudes and exceptional assistance. Be sure to check them out. My parents won't forget their time here at this Starbucks, that's for sure!

Average at best. Convenient to my work so I stop 2 or 3 times a week. Most disappointing is they don't honor rewards.

"We dont take Starbucks coupons..." But they take the payment from the APP without blinking an eye.

How can I possibly be the first to review this? I normally would pass on writing a Starbucks review, but hey, sometimes you gotta seize the moment. So, here we go...ready? It is a Starbucks. You know, it's that place that sells overpriced coffee that you either love or hate. However, what is great about this location is that it is here...in downtown Detroit. Yeah, we have some mini-Starbucks locations around in the RenCen and at MGM, for example. Yeah, in addition we did have an actual full service location that closed, too. But, this one is different. This is a real Starbucks like the ones you would find in L.A. or New York. It is located in the heart of Detroit. Have you ever walked around Detroit and thought to yourself that there isn't much around when compared to say Chicago? Or asked yourself, what major city doesn't have a Starbucks? Well, here ya go. This Starbucks symbolically represents the re-birth of downtown Detroit. So far, the service at this location has been good. I've only purchased coffee products at this location yet and I have not been disappointed. Though I haven't tried any of this location's food yet, I don't expect that it is any different from the food products at other Starbucks locations. I'm glad Starbucks is here. This location was a needed addition to Detroit. They will do very well. Let's face it, regardless if you love or hate Starbucks, they started as a local coffee house and expanded to the largest coffee company in the world. There is a reason for that. They do have standards for service and offer great products.

Went here for a casual scone and iced coffee. The obnoxious barista decided to act impatient and make me feel uncomfortable so I had to rush when we were the only people in line. I then placed my order and the girl looked at her co-worker and made fun of me right in front of me. Literally felt so uncomfortable that I had to walk away. Needless to say, not a fan of the human beings working at this location. Have some class, do your job and be pleasant. The coffee was good as usual, but the order was wrong

Service isn't great, but it isn't bad. All depends on the day. Sometimes you'll get a moody barista that doesn't like her job and that will show. Otherwise, Starbucks is Starbucks...burnt coffee, gas station bakery goods, hipster music, and free wifi.

Great location!!! But incredibly slow service from the cashier all the way down to the barista making the coffee.

Great location right downtown, wonderfully modern interior design! However, trying to find a seat amongst the 6 homeless people sleeping at tables really throws off the atmosphere. I think this location would be much improved if there was something said to tackle this issue. It makes it quite uncomfortable, quite honestly. Disappointing first visit!

This is my go to Starbucks as I pass this location on my way to work everyday. Service is OK but was much worse a few months ago. It seems the staff has turned over quite a bit and the new crew members are doing a great job at improving things. Previously, the store was also not accepting normal Starbucks promotions (gold card rewards, etc), but they seem to have changed that policy as of late as well. Speed still could use improvement when compared to other locations and product availability is an issue. They do run out of popular breakfast items and ingredients to make drinks, with weeks passing in some cases before they restock. I'll continue going here because it really is the only Starbucks option close to work, but more work is needed before it is on par with other locations.

Worst experience in a Starbucks ever. Been all over the world and this Detroit, location takes the cake for the worst. Employees treat me like excrement, and then they give me the wrong drink- a poorly made drink at that. Customer service is dead, as a new generation is poised to help plummet the American economy. "HELLO WholeLattelove.com," my personal machine awaits.

This Starbucks is terrible. I was charged 4 different price for the exact same drink on 4 different days. The order wasn't a complicated drink either... When I asked why the differences in price, I was rudely told that "prices go up". A friend of mine also experienced the "randomized pricing". When she asked the question, the barista didn't say a word and simply shrugged dismissively. Not good.

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever had at a Starbucks. Ever other word out of the barista mouth was F this and F that. She actually told a customer he could comeback there and make it himself.

UPDATE -- This location has gotten a little better at service in the past 6 months or so and it seems like they've gotten rid of some of their more unpleasant employees. Their speed at delivering drinks has improved as well. However, lower your expectations for this location--if you're there in the morning, you should still expect a longer wait than at most Starbucks locations.

It's terrible when you're a fellow barista and you enter an establishment with hopes of the greatness you and your team always deliver and to be slapped in the face. They do not follow the standard recipes, some seem very nonchalant and bored. By far one of my worst experiences at SBUX near my home.
