Starbucks Tests Out Reusable Cup Program at Five Seattle Locations | Eater Seattle

"At the kiosk located at 4706 California Avenue SW in West Seattle, customers can request a reusable cup via the Starbucks app with a $1 refundable deposit, then scan and leave the cup at the store kiosk when finished to receive a $1 credit and 10 bonus stars. The experiment launched in March and runs until May 31; returned cups are cleaned by GO Box within 48 hours and reissued, or customers can instead place cups in a Ridwell at-home bin for pickup. Starbucks estimates each borrowed cup will replace up to 30 disposable cups and notes employees do not need to handle returned cups." - Gabe Guarente

I always have a great experience at this Starbucks. The store is clean, the energy is positive, and the team works really hard even on the busiest days. My drinks are consistently well-made, and the customer service is friendly and attentive. You can tell the baristas care about doing things right. It’s become my go-to spot for coffee and a quick bite. Highly recommend this location!

⸻ I went to the Starbucks at this location and used the drive-through. The service was quick and the food was good. However, I asked for light ice in all my drinks, but one of them came with almost a full cup of ice. When you’re paying six dollars for a drink, it shouldn’t be mostly ice 🤨.

Shift manager Jorge should learn some customer service & some fairness. Stood in line 11/6/25 from 3:20am to get the new bear cup & he allowed the 1st 3 people to all get 2 & 3 cups each. There was a line of 15 people & only 3 people was able to buy them. I will make further complaints because this is not right or fair to everyone waiting.

Typical Starbucks with its predictable menu, and that consistency is what makes me return time after time. My favorite order is an Americano and lemon loaf, and every order was great. I am a go into the shoppe and get my order customer, and this location's customer service has always been friendly. Even during those morning rush moments, they put every effort into getting the orders out quickly. It's important to highlight, the strength of the Starbucks drinks are not as strong as they were in the past, but not so weak to make me change coffee shoppes!

I’d like to start this review off with saying that I have been a customer since this location opened. Never have I been so disappointed and unhappy with my visits here than the last 4 times I have got a drink and/or food here. All visits had an issue. The first time, I came on the day of the pumpkin release. I got a SHAKEN oat milk espresso with pumpkin and the drink was not shaken and literally looked like the pumpkin was pumped, the milk was poured, and then the espresso was poured. It was clearly layered and not shaken at all. Not only that, for some reason, they marked it as if I asked for regular milk. I never order regular milk in my coffee let alone a OATMILK Shaken espresso. I was in a rush to get to my doctors appointment which was 20 minutes away in a different town and I couldn’t have my morning coffee on the drive there. Thankfully the Starbucks closer to my appointment place remade it for me WITHOUT ARGUMENT (Tradition location). Next time I went to this location, I ordered the Hazelnut Oatmilk shaken espresso and when I got it the milk was curdled at the bottom and I have never seen that happen. I kindly asked the older white woman at the window to remake it and she proceeded to argue with me and say “sometimes the milk does that do you want to just try it?” NO. I don’t want to drink curdled milk lady. Then while I was waiting at the drive through window another younger Hispanic lady asked her coworkers, “What’s she waiting for?” And I stated I was waiting for them to remake my coffee because the milk was curdled. And she agreed and immediately apologized. Thankfully the second coffee was perfect so I guess, thanks for that. After this a few days later, I came to this location for just a grilled cheese. I ordered at the speaker and all was fine until I got to the window. The young black man who was working the drive thru did not say a single word to me. I would at least expect a “hello, your total is xyz…” if I’m spending over 7 dollars on a grilled cheese. Not a single word came out of his mouth even after I was saying thank you and have a nice day. Extremely disappointing. Then fast forward to today which was my final straw and what prompted me to write this review. My mother and I stopped here so I could get a grilled cheese and she wanted a plain water with the freeze dried strawberries. They proceeded to tell us they’d have to charge us for a venti custom tea (4.95) AND charge for additional strawberries (.50). I have been to Starbucks all over the country and never have seen this happen as this is what my mother usually orders other than the occasional coffee. I get you have to charge for the strawberries but to charge for a whole tea when you are giving water only and a single scoop of strawberries is crazyyyyy. Then, when we got to the window, the young Hispanic girl did NOT say hello or the total of our order which was only the grilled cheese and a normal cup of water. Only after I leaned over and said hello? Can we at least get a hello she started talking to my mom with a “here you go” and “have a nice day”. I don’t know if the management has changed recently or what but I’m extremely disappointed in the performance of this Starbucks location. This review will also be sent to corporate.

Came here for a “pup cup” for my boys birthday. There were about 7 cars in front of us and the lines moved really quickly. The pup cup was delicious according to his tail wagging. Parking lot is a cluster with chic FIL a right next door. Thanks for the complimentary treat.

I'm a Starbucks lover and Pumpkin Spice is Baaaaack!! So of course I got a Pumpkin a cream cold brew and it was perfection! This store is large, and not so full... but they do take their time in concocting your beverage so don't be in a hurry: it will come out perfect though. While waiting, I read their board: this store donated and packs up food they will not use to the local food banks feeding the community! Good job Starbucks!

Went here this morning for coffee and egg bites and had a great experience. The staff greeted me with a friendly hello and happily took my order. The blonde roast coffee was perfect and the egg bites were cooked just enough. Lots of seating inside with clean restrooms.

I've been to many Starbucks locations, but Yvette is by far the best barista I've ever met! She's incredibly friendly, attentive, and makes every drink perfectly. You can tell she truly cares about her customers--she remembers my order and always greets everyone with such a positive attitude. Her energy makes the whole place feel welcoming and bright. Starbucks is lucky to have her!

Just want to warn anyone before they go here and waste money. By far the worst Starbucks I've been too. Do not get anything from here unless you want an attitude with it. I've tried three times over the span of a few months to go here because I thought maybe this time will be different. Welp jokes on me, it never was. Doesn't matter time of day, here in fort pierce okeechobee area it seems everyone always has an attitude. I know it's just coffee, but it's expensive, you're paying for it so get what you want. My sandwich was either ice cold or old. My drink always tasted burnt and made wrong. Honestly if you want coffee i recommend the Chick-fil-A next right next to them. Now I can say that's the best chick fil a I've been too.

Attempted to do school and while I waited I placed an order. Manger or owner (female) walked over and said "you can't sit inside because you didn't buy anything". It sucked she tried kicking someone out that already made a purchase, showed her and she said "fine you can stay" Also, Cookie was burned

Today I had the pleasure of being attended by an employee named Lena ... from the moment she took my order her voice sounded like she was the happiest person ever and sure enough reaching the window I was greeted by an amazing smile and her singing me happy birthday since I had ordered a complimentary drink from the app that was given for my bday ...I feel like employees like this should be recognized because it's not everyday someone actually greets you like they like their job and attends you the way that you feel you should be attended so I truly hope management can give her some recognition..I'm visiting from Miami and honestly I hope other employees at other locations up this way are as fabulous as Lena ...

They usually get my order wrong, even when I verify while ordering that my drink should be hot, or a certain flavor, or that they got my full order. There is usually some attitude too when I let them know the order was made wrong or is missing items. I don't know why I keep trying to go here.

I went in today and one of the barista's was wearing a filthy apron. I'm not talking dirty, I'm talking FILTHY!!! She herself was dirty but the apron was practically black with grime and dirt. Thank God she didn't make my coffee. Another problem with the place is that the employees park in the parking spaces and there are very few left for customers. When I drive up the parking lot is full but there is only a few people in the establishment. Come on Starbucks! Your better than that.

I love this Starbucks location! I see a lot of complaints about wait times and the staff running around like crazy, but I think people are forgetting that ever since COVID, finding people to hire is extremely difficult. The staff there always moves the inside and outside lines as quickly as humanly possible. They even started putting an employee outside to take order (Chic Fil A style) and that definitely helps with the wait lines. Every drink they make is consistent and made correctly. Everyone is always super friendly there. My dogs and I love coming here for Starbucks dates.

Omg terrible!!! I have been waiting now for almost 20 minutes for my order. The staff is running around like crazy behind the counter but handing out no orders. There a orders completed just setting on the counter getting watered down and the CUSTOMERS finally reaching behind themselves to take their orders! I asked someone to check on my order, he said he would be right back and after he went back he came out and started making other people's drink order. I finally was able to get his attention again and asked if he found out what was going on. He very loudly and rudely said." Your going to have to wait lady there a lot of people before you!" Besides the fact that that was extremely rude, not an answer and he had specifically said he was going to check for me it was also not true. There was only one lady left who had come in before me and she was also still waiting for just a sandwich. At this point I had been waiting 20 minutes for a cream cheese croissant and a cake pop. The lady in front of me finally asked what was going on they went and gave her a four dollar gift card. She still did not get her sandwich. She went up to the cash register and said she had to have the sandwich because she was going to be late for a meeting. The sandwich finally came. About this time the barista who had told me I had to wait threw a cake pop on the counter and shouted "here's your cake pop already!" A customer in line turned and looked surprised and said "I guess that's your cake pop but that was rude". But even after that I had to stay and wait because I still had not gotten my croissant. Once again I had to get someone's attention and asked if they could please see what was going on because now it was over 20 minutes for just a croissant. The guy walked over and picked one up that was cold and gave it to me. At this point it was not even worth arguing over the fact that the food was cold I just needed to get out of there. I went in there at 9:56. It is now 10:25 and I just got in my car with my food. There was no apology or explanation and I am shocked by how rude they were. I stopped in this morning because I was having a terrible morning and needed a pick me up, this did the exact opposite.

I was so grateful I ended up in this drive thru this morning. I have been having a bad few days that all came to a head when I went to order my coffee. I started bawling. Uncontrollably, ugly cry bawling. I struggled to place my order but got through it and went to the window to pay. I was pleasantly surprised and humbled when the baristas had paid for my drink. They said "we hope this helps your day get a little better". I started crying again and thanked them as best I could. It seriously made my morning to have an act of kindness (and a perfectly made drink) from the baristas that had no obligation to try and help me through my slump. I also called and spoke to the shift lead and store manager to let them know what an incredibly kind staff they have. So, once again. Thank you all for being so kind to a crying stranger.

I'm not one to frequently get coffee from Starbucks but this one is close to my house so I've been there a few times. The new shaken espresso drink is great and I customize it just how I like it. The barista David who works here is the absolute best. He's so knowledgeable about the drinks and always has new recommendations. He strives to get my coffee perfect every time and always does!

The male manager was just about the rudest. I moved from Texas where everyone was exceptionally friendly. I thought maybe it's a Florida thing where people speak degrading to you. Then I went to the ones on tradition and Gatlin. Wow was that a night and day difference. Guess I'll have to do Starbucks on my shopping days and just make coffee at home every other day.

Worker outside taking my order at 7 am had so much attitude then asked me twice if my matcha was hot or iced , just for me to get to the window and be asked again then told they made it wrong and to pull around to the entrance and sat there for 7 minutes before coming outside with my hot matcha .

This Starbucks had the fastest service I've ever experienced at a Starbucks, and my husband and I have traveled for work regularly over the past 13 years! We have been to Starbucks all over the USA-this one had at least twenty cars at the drive-thru and maybe ten people in the lobby; they were busy on a Sunday morning. I placed my complicated and large order with ease, the barista was super friendly and efficient! I used the restroom quickly, and they were calling my name just as I exited the restroom! My husband pumped gas next door while I got the food and drinks, and I got done before him!! Very unexpected! This was worth the stop and the money...my drink lasted me two hours on our road trip, and my husband got a good snack and coffee to hold him over until our lunch stop! Thank you all!!

Just left from this location august 4th 2:27 pm. I was in line when I noticed the older lady working the drive through smiling and greeting the customer in front of me. Customer had the exact same car as me just a brighter color. She gave the customer a smile and wave. Now when I pulled to the window the lady said absolutely nothing to me. I said "Hi" with a smile and she continued to just look at me. I noticed she only gave me one cup of water when I asked for two at the speaker. When I said something about it she told me I only asked for one which then I replied that I asked for two trenta cups of water, one trenta cup of ice, along with a pup cup for my dog. Instead of getting me another FREE cup of water she decided to argue with me. Now mind you I am an African American and my African American brother was also in the car with me. Not sure if she was scared of the way I naturally looked or whatever the case was, I did not get the same treatment as the Caucasian woman in front of me in the same eco boost Mustang as me. Someone should speak with the worker that was at the window about customer service because I feel very offended. Not to nic-pick but the lids around my cup was also dirty. Found that a bit unappealing considering it is a Starbucks.
