Cleaner Stores on the List of Reasons Starbucks in Hurst Is Unionizing | Eater Dallas

"Employees at the Hurst store were part of a June 4 NLRB petition filed by 18 cafes nationwide, joining over 10,500 baristas seeking union representation as company and union negotiators enter a second round of talks. Local organizers Illyana Morales and Christopher Baltimore say chronic understaffing and reduced hours have made it hard to survive on paychecks and to complete basic tasks—even taking out trash—because fewer partners are scheduled, which can create safety concerns when a single person would be left alone in the store. Reduced staffing has also made it difficult to restock supplies mid-shift, left the store visibly less clean and slowed service, and caused vacation time to accrue more slowly and left fewer people available to cover time off. Morales, who organized after a year of internal talks and years of requests for more resources, reports roughly ten coworkers are committed to unionizing and hopes their effort will encourage nearby stores to organize as well. I used to drink coffee at Starbucks regularly, but over the years, the company has lost the sense of community it once provided. Starbucks thrived by creating a “third place” where people could gather, but somewhere along the way, that focus faded. However, I can see that the employees at this location are making a real effort to maintain a welcoming space where people can meet, connect, and enjoy good coffee.

Hands down the best Starbucks I've been to. I'm a frequent visitor, 3-4 times a week, and I get the same thing most days. The employees are fantastic, so kind and enjoyable to be around. I interact most with the night shift and they're a wonderful group. It has been a most wonderful place for me to do projects, journal, or just hang out late at night! I always feel safe and cared for, and this is my go-to location if I ever want starbucks. Shout out to all the employees, and especially Liz, Mika, Jackie, Kaylin, and Emilie for making this such a welcoming and fun space! I always look forward to seeing you all, and you manage to brighten my day every time, no matter how hard the day has been. I stopped by in the drive thru today October 22 2025 9am and ordered my husband his daily staple a grande iced hazelnut shaken espresso with oat milk vanilla sweet cream cold foam with light ice caramel drizzle lightly lining the cup with cinnamon and pecan crunch on top of the cold foam with two pumps of pecan syrup. There was a gentlemen standing outside at the menu taking orders and that experience was pleasant and efficient. When I made it to the window a women with gray or white dyed hair abruptly stuck a straw out the window when I pulled up and told me my total. I gave her my card and she didn't take it she wanted me to take the straw and then give her the card so I obliged. She quickly handed me my drink that visibly had a substantial amount of ice no caramel in the cup and missing the top on the cold foam. I gave her back the drink and politely said I'm sorry there's a few things missing and told her what the issue was she took the drink gave it to another lady and told her what I said that individual lady turned toward the drive thru and peeked out the window at me to see what race I was and immediately became visibly disturbed. She got another cup squeezed caramel drizzle in the cup and poured the drink from the incorrect cup into the cup with the caramel drizzle. Everyone knows once this is done the cold foam vanishes and any topping that may have been on top. She then proceeded to put a little ice in the cup and grabbed some milk to make the cup full. Then they proceeded to distribute this milk drink infused with coffee to me. I then said I don't see the pecan crunch or the cinnamon powder. That lady got a full size cup and shook cinnamon powder and pecan crunch in it and gave it to me. At this point I took the drink pulled forward got out my car and disposed of it. I will simply dispute the small charge with my bank and never visit this location again.

Fantastic customer service! They announced when they started making my drink, they announced when they were finishing it so I knew to be ready for it at the counter. I sat and did some work and the barista came around asked if I needed water or anything else. Was really fantastic and a joy to be here. Kudo's to the entire team.

Pull up in the drive thru on Monday November 17 at 4:10 pm and ordered the only drink I get from Starbucks which is an iced Matcha latte with brown sugar syrup and extra vanilla cold foam with light ice and the drink was very clumpy the Matcha wasn’t even mixed right instead of light ice they gave me extra ice overall the drink was super bitter although if they made my drink right it should not be bitter at all. It was super weird. I wasn’t even offered a straw I have been to the Starbucks multiple times and this is the first time it happens.

I usually always have to settle for a carmel macchiato that is made with legit just milk and syrup , i go to any other starbucks and its always made correctly, but for some reason the starbucks closest to me always makes it with milk and syrup and then catches a attitude when i ask if they can remake it. just frustrating. love the afternoon crew :))

This is my second time ordering from this starbucks. The first time they were out of almost everything but that's not really their fault but this time I got my drink with my cold foam and was left with a note that said they were out of However, they didn't fill up the cup. I guess no cold foam means I don't get a full drink? Ridiculous.

Early morning visit through the drive-thru for a "breakfast of champions." a Bacon & Gouda Breakfast Sandwich and Caramel Macchiato. The service was super-fast and my order was perfectly prepared. This Starbucks is the best if you're using it as your office. I enjoy coming here because the design is a little bit moodier. Feels warm with the dark color themes. Employees are always so welcoming. There are outlets everywhere for your phones and laptops.

This is my third visit at this particular Starbucks that I have ordered a non foam venti and when I open the lids the coffee is a solid inch and a half below the rim. (Yes, I measured it since this has happened before). I am paying for a Venti and receiving a Grande. NOT COOL!

Tell me one more time how I need to place my order earlier on my drive and arrive only within the pick up window . Please. I put in the order on my phone cause I can reorder easily and no risk someone in a rush or unknowingly punching in my order wrong again. And again. And then I have to waste my time contacting support or coming in to rectify it. But yes let me be more conscientious of your KPIs and coordinate my travel and traffic patterns and placing it somewhere at a complete stop. Or just why don't I just place it in your parking lot and then wait and rile up in the drive thru and wait for your metrics. Or even better just throw out the convenience and just come in.

No need for a long review, it's Starbucks. That Dallas heat had me on fire and I became a iced coffee addict. So yeah...I saw Starbucks a lot that week. This location is standard service. The drive thru seemed fast and efficient. I didn't wait long. That's a plus.

The store is clean, the bathrooms are clean, service quick and friendly and the product up to chain standards. This Starbucks location is very convenient for commuters driving from Fort Worth to Dallas and is packed in the mornings. One cautionary note, the drive-through line will stretch out onto the access road and affect traffic. It might be faster (and safer) to park and walk in. I'm a fan of cushy seating options and and appreciate how many are available at this store. It's located at the edge of a large parking lot on a freeway access road, so outdoor seating is just yucky. But, the inside is designed in a such a way as to provide a buffer from the concrete jungle outside. I have a friend I meet here occasionally as it's between our morning commute paths. If you like the convenience and consistency of Starbucks, this store should be on your list of stops, especially if you like comfy spaces to enjoy your beverage in.

I order a venti iced espresso and they give me barely half a cup. Never going back to this place again. I been noticing this location been giving less and less each time I order this same drink. This happened to me a few times before but atleast thr drink close to a venti. This was the final straw. Avoid this place.

My food was terrible it wasn't cooked all the way and my coffee tasted watered down. The service here was probably the worst I've ever had they basically threw my food in my face. I wouldn't even think about going inside to eat the place was disgusting I saw a couple of bugs in the place from the outside crawl in. I would recommend going anywhere else somewhere local.

I don't recommend going to the Starbucks in the morning because it's always so busy it's going to take at least 15 minutes to get your drink if you're not in the drive-through. On top of that there's almost no parking during a rush and get ready for them to get your drink wrong because they are not reading the stickers. I often get an iced mocha and can't tell you how many times I've had to sit there and wait for them to remake my drink because somebody didn't read the sticker that clearly said I smoker. I even asked him one time thinking maybe I was ordering it wrong, but the girl just said they're so used to making white mocha's that she thought it was a white mocha... OK honey but you should probably read the sticker first... Isn't that what is there for? I purposely use the app so I can just grab my drink and go in the morning. So now I'm late to work because Starbucks people can't read... Love that for me

Omg Starbucks!! You haven't impressed me like this in a while!! I went in to redeem my birthday reward and got the ginger drink, but unfortunately as I took more sips I realized that it was not my jam. So, I called the store and got one of the managers, Devón, and he was happy to refund my order and get me another drink. In addition to that my app did not redeem my birthday reward, but instead it took money off of my Starbucks card. They were happy to refund this and it went back automatically which was awesome! My new drink, a strawberry acai refresher, was definitely my jam and was so good! I plan to definitely make this my Starbucks and go to place when I need to just chill and have a drink!!

First time at this location, probably the last. Busy location, I get it. That's does excuse the lack of taking time to read and prepare the orders. I ordered two Sugar free Vanilla latte's. One Grande and one decaf Vente. The vente came out as a regular. Thank goodness I asked before leaving. She was kind enough to make another and let me keep the one made in error. When I got home (I live less than three minutes away) my vente was not hot, actually warm enough to take a gulp and had no foam nor did it taste like it had the SF Vanilla added. I checked the other vente and it was the same way. I guess since they are so busy they don't let me milk steam as long as they should. Unfortunate. I order this drink regularly and have never had an issue at other locations. Take your time. We all know we will have to wait when entering a Starbucks. I'd rather wait and get it right. Unfortunately I had to wait and it was still wrong.

This morning a venti hot cup was given to me without the lid secured through the drive thru. It immediately spilled all over because the cup collapsed. I don't know if even though they're hot cups they fold when hot but the entire thing dropped and dumped all over my lap and hands. My fingers are blistered and my inner thighs are red burned no blistering yet. It also got in my daughter in the passenger seat but did not burn her. They remade the drink but the cup had the same issue. Luckily we did not try to use the cup and transferred it into a different one immediately so it didn't spill. Their answer was to refund me and all customer service tell me someone would call in a few days.

It is a starbucks. I can't say much about it, other than it's a starbucks and I don't really like Starbucks restaurants all that much. However, this location isn't bad, but it's really the customer service that makes me give it more than an average rating. As said, a Starbucks is a Starbucks is a Starbucks... The staff I had the chance to talk with are friendly and very good at conversation. They care about the fine art of conversation where many places the employee would just rather take your order and leave you. I can't tell you how many cashiers have annoyed me because they'll just look at me with a dull expression as if they're gazing into a void. Now this particular location is busy, for reasons that ought to be obvious. They are at the corner of a highway and next to a Target store. They are open later than most other store locations. So, of course, they are heavily crowded and parking is a little on the rough side. I usually steer clear from places like that, but again, the friendly and social staff make that fact tolerable to the point where I would be okay coming to this location and navigating the rough crowd. For a starbucks, they are okay.

Walked in on a cold rainy morning, grabbed the table by the back door since there were quite a few folks on laptops throughout the cafe. Spacious, clean, with plenty of outlets which is always a plus. Seemed to be staffed well with a good workflow. Placed my order via the app for a breakfast sammy and a holiday drink. Both were ready in 10 minutes per my order.

Stopped here for the first time. I was on my way to the NRH location. I was happy to see they had a lot of donuts!! Now I know why they did! Sadly, All the donuts are dry and stale. The wrap and avocado toast was good. Coffee to dark. I asked for more cream even the extra cream didn't lighten it. The screens were off also. They weren't working. Will not be back! I will stick to my Watauga or NRH location.

Very disappointing. There were two people working the barista area. A young man and a young woman. They both saw me walk in and stand at the register on the left as you face them. Neither one of them bother to say, sir you're at the wrong register. Neither asked what I needed or acknowledged I was even there. Another customer walked up to the right register and a young lady came from the back and asked him, can I help you ?!?! WTH ?!?!? I said I guess I was at the wrong register and then the young man spoke up and said, yes that registers closed. So why didn't him or the other young lady who saw me standing there for several minutes say something ?? That is down right horrible customer service and I will never stop by again, but will drive a few miles down to the one on Central. I said something to the young lady who checked me out and she just laughed and said yes, that ones closed. I was just a little pissed off to say the least.

Updating past review.. the staff during COVID has been outstanding, super friendly, quick during long lines and drinks made deliciously. Thinking new mgmt? bc the staff is even cheerful in a Chick-fil-A way vs. an I'm bored and you annoy me way. We've been in the middle of listing/moving/closing house (last min decision) and drove through practically daily for 5 weeks and they did not disappoint! I had one bad experience from a cloud drink (touch of food poisoning from egg in it?) but a few days later I noticed all varieties were not available so maybe a bad batch. Had them several times before w/o issue but not chancing it if the make a comeback! Putting that aside, kudos to the staff for being a bright moment during these crazy times. I know wearing a mask all day and pretending everything is normal has to take its toll but y'all keep on shining. Thank you!!

Went through the drive-thru and when we got to the speaker to order I asked them to give us a second because my friend wasn't ready yet and I guess it bothered the employee (Star) because afterwards she was answering with an attitude. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe that was just how she was but no we pulled up to the window and she was rolling her eyes and she had that "I don't want to be here" faces. So rude for no reason. If you don't like your job then quit like honestly. 3/10 would return if it's a different employee taking my order

I love being a regular at this Starbucks! The morning staff is my favorite and they are so friendly as morning people! I love the energy. I will say this is a very busy location as they are located on the corner of a major highway and the line often times will lead out into the access road causing a backup. Just be patient! Your drink will come. This is my little "pit stop" before heading into work and I'm so thankful!

The girls in the morning are so rude I stopped going to this location around October-November 2022 because of the customer service! The last time I was there The barista with long black hair she had it in a high pony took back my drink which they can't do after I told her it was wrong I was shocked even her coworker told her infront of me that she couldn't do that ! Everytime I come to this location I get such a bad experience ! If you ladies hate your job so much just leave. I came back to this location March 2023 and again got my order was wrong like every single time this time they literally gave me my cup half full after I told them the first one was wrong. I highly do NOT recommended this place not only do the girls look so miserable but the line is always soooo long and your order will never b right!!

This is sadly one of the slowest Starbucks in the area. They are only open sporadically and if you get stuck in their drive thru you absolute cannot get out no matter how very long you've been waiting. They rarely take mobile orders and it's kind of frustrating when their screen quits working while you are waiting on the drive thru....

I work in the afternoons so I usually have to stop by my neighborhood Starbucks for my afternoon fix. I'm not much of a hot coffee drinker so I usually get carmel frappuccino without whip cream and two shots of espresso. Even with the espresso shots it's still pretty sweet. The customer service is excellent and they always get my order right. If I have a sweet tooth I will add a slice of banana nut bread. They recently started selling carmel apple poundcake and scones but I think it's seasonal. I have never tried their lunch items but that's next on my list to try.

Always out of certain drinks and ingredients. This is by far one of the slowest Starbucks I have ever gone to! There is always a line any time of day. If you are in a rush do not go to this one. Today it took me exactly 34 minutes in the drive-thru line. There was only 5 cars in front of me. I don't see how they are this slow moving here! Go to Target right next door to the Starbucks and guess what? They aren't sold out of anything! Also shorter line!

They always take so long to make drinks. I think it's the slowest one I have ever been to. It typically takes over 20 minutes to get through the drive through line with like 5 cars in front of me. I have ordered online & still drove over there & had to wait like 10 more minutes. I don't know how they stay in business. Their hours keep declining, so they may shut down soon. They are nice, but badly managed.

Went there a few times since it's so close to other stores. Today. The line is always long. But moves a bit faster than you imagine. They just didn't have anything and then gave me a drink that was incorrect. Really it should be one star but I gave a three star. Didn't have raspberry syrup, no peach tea, system was down couldn't load your card. Just a bad day all around for this location. Bummer. I probably won't come back.

So today i went to starbucks and i ordered a grande ice coffee. after i finish i went up to the barista to get a refill for a hot emperors cloud. she then proceed to look at me and say "do you have a cup?" i said yes i do and hold up my ice coffee cup. she then said it is NOT a refill then. it is clearly in the starbucks refill policy. READ. if you can't read I also uploaded your job's policy for you. Btw I'll post her name when I get it. {{{{{{{When you use your registered Starbucks Card or Mobile app to purchase any handcrafted beverage and then present that same Starbucks Card or Mobile app, you can get free refills of brewed coffee (hot, Iced Coffee or Cold Brew), and tea (hot, or iced) during the same store visit regardless of the original beverage at participating Starbucks stores. Once you leave the store, your visit has ended and any subsequent coffee or tea refill thereafter would be considered a new purchase. "It's not the same drink" manager told her to give it to me and when she procced to give me the drink she didnt even say anything. the whole experience made me feel like a thieve that i am trying to get a free drink. this is NOT the first time i have experience this incident. and i feel that starbucks need to come out with a "CLASS" or something to educated their employee on their own refill policies. i hate the feeling of going to a starbucks and get treated this way just because the employees is not "AWARE" of their own policies. so honestly what is the point of having refills at discounted price of every time i go up to the cashier and i get treated like a thieve? starbucks "qualities" has gone downhill a lot. and i can see it in the barista starbucks hires. Even Starbucks customer service agreed. I really hope you feel stupid not knowing your own policies :) and technically I can sit my a** in starbucks all day getting unlimited refills nonstop let alone "one" refill you hassle me about. But nah I'm not like that. ‍

Best starbucks in the area! Employees are very nice and efficient! Everyone looks happy as they're working and it's a great experience every time.

Liz and Taylor were AWESOME!! Such sweet workers. I placed my mobile order for the wrong location super far away and even though it's a difficult and precise drink they INSISTED on making it for me free of charge, now THATS what I call taking care of the customer. Awesome customer service I love this starbucks and the layout of it as well as the decor and furniture inside. My drink was made to PERFECTION and I left a very happy customer.

I love this particular starbucks! the staff is always friendly and this one guy always make suggestions for me to try! I got a venti passion lemonade one time and he said to add apple juice in it next time to make it better and so I did. It made it even sweeter from the lemonade; which sometimes can make it tangy. I've been here everyday since the internet at home is broken and I dont know why...

Disclosure - I'm a Starbucks addict. So when we stopped by after a long day to grab a quick cup o Joe I was little disappointed by the barista's 'tude. I was interested in the chocolate latte and asked a simple question- is the chocolate dark chocolate or milk. As a lactose intolerant person, I can usually find workarounds but she seemed a little annoyed at the thought that someone might have certain allergies they would need to accommodate. In the end a simple soy latte was on the order and we were on our merry way. This location seems pretty overrun with students so beware if you're looking to chat with friends, this might not be the place.

Literally was stuck in the worlds slowest drive through. It took over 20 minutes for four cars to order over 35 minutes total in the drive through.

Be prepared to wait... slowest drive thru EVER. And you won't get a full cup of coffee. They tell you they can add milk to make it look like more. Every time I order, there is a good inch of space between the lid and my first sip. Went back, cause yup I am an idiot... why can't we get a full cup of coffee and not a ton of foam? Anyone?
