We come in regularly to get a ham & swiss baguette, and a dopio decaf in a venti cup w/ almond milk, and some variation of a fun flavored cold foam topping. The coffee is decent, I mean, it's Starbucks, and I'm the one who is ordering decaf. Would love to see a water filtered decaf someday, but for now it works. What I really want to comment on is the staff. And more than that, is the customers these staff are managing.
There have been violent angry customers (literal attacks on customers and staff), fires lit, people doing drugs in the bathroom with regularity, messes left behind too disgusting to describe, and even a dead body was found last year. But these staff still come to work, day in and day out. Some even crossing the strike line, because they're so committed to a place that has refused to fix the broken security cameras, opened the store for longer hours to give more access to the problematic individuals mentioned before, and won't hire a security guard to be present to help lighten the stress load of an unstable and unsafe work environment.
Cheers to these customer service representatives who are carrying compounded stress weight, deregulated nervous systems, and still come to work with a smile. These are the people we often overlook or treat poorly when our coffee is made wrong, or we can't use the bathroom because someone left bloody needles in the sink and they have to wait for sanitation to come clean. This is our Starbucks, and it will be as long as these staff are still willing to see it through. But, as soon as they've had enough, as soon as they realize they're being treated as part of a corporate machine that puts profits over people, and they all cycle out then we'll probably never step foot in a Starbucks again.
So, 5 stars, because the humans working at this location deserve everything.
