The 30 Best Restaurants in Boise, Idaho | Eater

"Owner Jamie Burns wants people to feel glam and glittery when they walk into Stardust, as if they were visiting the long-demolished Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas. The food options are a bit more straightforward, including a comforting chicken pot pie and club sandwich that hit the spot. Stop in during happy hour, when select cocktails are heavily discounted, and you can sink your teeth into a juicy burger with fontina for less than $10." - Scott Ki

Beautiful restaurant with incredible cocktails and even better food. My husband and I popped in for a late brunch today and were wowed by this restaurant. We were greeted promptly and sat on the patio and even though it was fairly windy outside, the patio was back far enough that we just enjoyed a light breeze. Our server was awesome, very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the Jungle Bird and the Bungalow to drink and both were delicious!! We will definitely be back for that alone! For brunch my husband had the Mushroom Toast and I had the Brioche French Toast along with an egg and bacon. My husband loved his dish and I thoroughly enjoyed mine. Usually after eating a heavier dish like French toast I feel lethargic and ready to go back home for a nap but this meal was incredibly satisfying without being too sweet or too heavy. The ingredients used at this restaurant are very fresh and the dishes are prepared thoughtfully. When we were done with our meal we took a better look inside and there’s a beautiful seating area right before the patio that we will definitely be taking advantage of in the future for a friends get together with some delicious cocktails and apps. Overall - 5/5. We will definitely be back!!

Google
Love everything about this place! Vibe is super chill. Cocktails are amazing! Service was wonderful (thank you so much Mitchell!!!). I cannot overstate how INCREDIBLE the food was. My husband loves seafood - me, not so much. He had the crab claws and he was going on and on about how amazing they were (I even had a bite and thoroughly enjoyed it which, if you knew me you’d know that was a big deal - lol) and I had the chicken pot pie which was incredible. The key lime tart was RIDICULOUS!! So so so good! Portions weren’t huge. If you’re looking for a place to gorge yourself, this is not it. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy an extraordinary meal and cocktails, you definitely gotta stop by the Stardust! ❤️

Google
Our Niece took us here for breakfast, and we were pleasantly surprised. Menu has meals ranging from $14 to $35. We got there when they first opened and the staff was prompt and attentive. Chicken and waffles 🧇 we on point. The Belgium waffle was crispy and held up to the syrup, and there was enough chicken to pair with every bit of waffle. My wife ordered the Two egg breakfast with ham. She loved how everything tastes, but unlike my Chicken and waffles, the ham was 6 thinly slices of ham (like deli meat). The bacon wrapped date were perfectly cook and bacon had a slightly crispy.

I went to this restaurant for the first time this morning and it was an amazing experience. The interior is absolutely gorgeous and it’s a quick walk from the parking garage. My waitress was Melissa and she was so sweet and held great conversation! The food was amazing! I got the belgian french toast with an egg and the bacon and it was all delicious! The french toast was by far the best choice! I’m definitely coming back again and might even try their dinner menu next time!

Google
I am absolutely in love with the decor and ambiance of this place. In addition, it was busy but wasn’t loud which is always a gift especially during Sunday brunch. I am extremely picky which usually limits my options but so many menu items looked fantastic. The Croque Madame was fantastic and I’m excited to come back tomorrow to try the Fritatta. The only disappointment is that I am only here for two days and won’t have the opportunity to try more items from the menu. Michael the bartender was attentive without being intrusive and Jamie was incredibly accommodating and had great suggestions for shops I should make sure to stop into. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Lizz Todd

Google
Brunch was good. Michael provided great service with a smile. We had coffee but he was whipping up some beautiful cocktails. Jaime the hostess should be fired. Rude and snarky, for being the hostess she was not inviting or welcoming at all. We almost left without trying out the restaurant.

Google
Stardust is such a fun and unique little restaurant. The drinks are fun to try, we did one of each and only skipped the mocktail. There is even a drink, the Bang Bang, that tingles your tongue. Then for food we had the oysters, it was our first time and they were delicious. We didn’t enjoy the mushroom soup, it just needed more flavor. But oh man we shared the Beef Wellington and the Surf and Turf and they were some of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had, tender and full of flavor. Would definitely go back again!

Jes

Google
Wow. What a special place. The atmosphere is wonderful from the decor, the waiters, to the bartenders. Such a different welcoming vibe. The drinks were top notch and the food was delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly and the desserts were great too. I loved how they would bring the desserts for the night to your table to show you what they are. Beef Wellington was perfection!

Chad B.

Yelp
We had a great brunch with fantastic food and top-notch service. They are always so welcoming and attentive when we eat there. It is always very clean, and the ambiance is very comforting. Love love love everything about this place.

Yelp
What a delightful surprise. My son in law suggested this place for dinner and I can't say enough about it. The food and drinks were phenomenal!! We started off with a wonderfully creative drink called a Bang Bang. It left a fun little tingle on my tounge and this was followed up with a couple of appetizers. We decided on the Crab Claws which were so yummy. We also had the Melon and Burrata which was perfect for the hot day. For the main entree I decided on the Airline Chicken and I can say this is the best chicken I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection and had a sauce that I can't describe. My son in law chose the Beef Wellington and I'd love to tell you it was fabulous but he ate it so fast I didn't get a bite. Needless to say he loved it. For desert we tried a few and I've decided that the chocolate mousse is devine. I mean it was an out of this world experience. The place itself is darling, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Overall I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Yelp
After being in Australia for a Year it was SOOOOOO NICE to return to a Restaurant that was the same as when I left !!!!! The Mushroom Biscuits and Gravy was TO DIE FOR !!!! If I'd had it before I ordered my Brunch entree I would have ordered it AGAIN !!!

Yelp
We came with friends who have seen this location turn over a few times, so we thought we'd drop in on a Saturday night to see what Stardust had to offer. We made a reservation, but it wasn't really necessary, 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday, and the place was nearly empty. We started at the bar for cocktails. The martinis and bourbon were served in nice glassware, and the bartender was friendly. From there, we moved to the lounge area in the front, drawn in by the cushy chairs and the window view of the street. However, we were quickly warned not to block a door leading to the patio due to fire regulations. Despite being the only guests in the place, about 15 minutes later, a less-than-friendly staff member reprimanded us about our chair placement. I had only slightly turned mine to better face the group, but their approach felt unnecessarily harsh. I moved the chair back, but the interaction left a bad taste. Why is all this furniture placed in a fire exit area anyway?? The interior has a retro vibe, but yet it felt to me a bit cold and stark, lacking the warmth you'd expect at the price point. On to dinner. I had the steak frites, and while the steak was cooked well, the fries were soaked in meat juices and soggy. A simple sidecar or divider on the plate would have solved this issue. My wife had the salmon Wellington, which seemed to fit the theme, this is definitely a "Wellington" kind of place. One friend had the retro-inspired airline chicken, while the other had a chicken pot pie topped with puff pastry instead of the usual crust. He said it was good. Service was solid, and the food was generally good, but the pricing felt high for the overall experience. Most entrees ranged from $40 to $50, with some reaching $75 a plate, and there were few lower-priced options. When you're paying a premium, you expect both quality food and a quality atmosphere, and Stardust doesn't quite hit that balance for me. The nearly empty dining room on a Saturday night might speak for itself? I'll let you decide. I gave 4 Stars this visit, but almost gave a 3 for "OK".

Yelp
Riley was such a great server! She was easy-going and was quick to help. I ordered the lobster and shrimp bisque and it was delicious and such a cute bread too. The lighting and design were such a vibe
google avatar

Gisela J.

Yelp
We went to celebrate a friend's divorce and first of all our servicer was excellent she was a joy and made our experience so much better and fun. The salmon was delicious the appetizers were good the drinks amazing except I wasn't too excited with the one w glitter not my cup of tea. The place was small but very bright we had a great time. It was a bit pricey that me and my friend shared a meal and appetizers and our bill split in too was still over 100$ but it was a nice time with all my girlfriends
google avatar

Yelp
I love the menu and the staff is friendly. I love the downtown location. I wish I could say I loved my food. The chips and dip was where we began. The chips are heavily salted. Heavily salted. Wow. And the dip was tasty but the portion was too small even for the most conservative dipper. I would pass on this next time. The Airplane chicken got our hopes high. But on tasting it we discovered bland chicken. That was quite dry. The potatoes, however, were excellent. Fluffy on the inside and rich with butter. Delicious. The steak fries was very good. The steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were excellent. They weren't the showstopper that the griddle potatoes were but they were excellent. I want to like this place much more than I did. It seems rather hit and miss but with great potential. I might try it again down the road and I hope they can develop some consistency. One day in the future this place could be quite remarkable. But for now it was just good

Yelp
Everything was so good. We ordered bloody Mary's (asked for them to be a little spicy), bacon wrapped dates, deviled eggs and steak and eggs. Tyler was our server and fantastic. Ambiance was cute especially the touches for Christmas.

Jaden S.

Yelp
Riley was awesome!!!!! Great food, drinks, and service, super quick and delicious. Some of the best oysters I've ever had

Yelp
Went here for Mother's Day brunch 2024. It seemed like they were having some challenges with staffing. The food was still amazing, just took a little longer than expected. The owner called me back later in the week based upon the phone # from my reservation. She profusely apologized for the experience and wanted to see if there was anything she could do to have us try again. I found this to be exceptional. We will be back after having this much attention paid to something that was out of their control. Well done Stardust.
google avatar

Theo H.

Yelp
We had a blast for brunch. The vibe is great, staff was A+. Drinks smashed it. Spectacular. The bacon wrapped dates and cheese were dope. Lobster Benedict was good. Was it $35 good? No. Lobster and shrimp bisque was meh. I suggest dropping a some sherry into at service. That would rock. Love the vibe. We had a big table next to us of cackling women that made it almost a unbearable. They left and it was back to a perfect brunch environment. We will definitely come again. We don't expect perfection and this brunch slam probably affected food to some degree.

Yelp
We've walked by here a bunch of times and decided to check out their happy hour. My wife and I had a fantastic afternoon relaxing with cocktails. They've got tasty cocktails and a decent happy hour menu. The fondue was fantastic! We're excited to come back and check out their brunch.
google avatar

Dani S.

Yelp
Neat little restaurant downtown. Been here a couple times. Brunch, happy hour and for appetizers. Shrimp cocktail is great! The popcorn during happy hour is devine. I did order the french toast for brunch and the syrup is overly sweet. It's better without the syrup. The ceaser salad is delicate but was turned off when I found hair in my salad. Unfortunately, finding hair is quite common. We found hair in my friend's salad when we were eating togther. Overall, a good restaurant and I look forward to trying other items on the menu.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Food was cooked perfectly, got the beef Wellington, bacon wrapped dates, surf and turf, steak tartar and charcuterie board. Perfect date night spot. Everything was delicious no complaints and the wait staff were all friendly and attentive but not too much to where it was annoying. Definitely will be going back.
google avatar

Meagan T.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Very curated food, and very flavorful. Prices are a little high, to be honest. Would return to give it another shot, but it's not the cheapest spot.

Howard H.

Yelp
What an amazing place to eat! Wonderful service from Melissa, a beautiful brunch, and so delicious! Jamie, the owner is so gracious and caring. The outdoor patio was fun and welcoming. Definitely recommend this establishment for a great dining experience.
google avatar

Ruben S.

Yelp
The service here was amazing Jaime right from the start attended me very quickly. She gave me a perfect table with an awesome view. Jose my waiter was very informative with what the restaurant has to offer and what he would have. I definitely recommend this place as a chill spot with good food and drinks. And for you people watches while you eat it's a great spot.
google avatar

Gayle P.

Yelp
The interior was very bright and well furnished with both open outdoor and private seating. The music was an interesting assortment of Fleetwood Mac, The Chainsmokers 2016 hits, and Tumblr Grunge which made me feel at home. The service was great with both the host and waitress being very friendly and helpful. We ordered the banana bread to share, expecting it to be a full piece of bread. When it arrived, however, the portion was extremely small for the price as shown in a photo below. The banana bread was also either raw or extremely gelatinous which was very off putting. For my main course I ordered the southern biscuits and gravy which were good but nothing special and there were no bold flavors that stood out to me. For the grand total of $80 with tip for two people, I was left a bit disappointed. Overall, this is a fine establishment but I am not left with a strong urge to come back.
google avatar

Shannon A.

Yelp
Food was pricey for what it was. Banana bread was gelatinous and clear inside. Frittata was oily and undercooked. Good service and good drinks (there was minimal orange juice in the mimosa) Interior design was nostalgic of 2016 gentrify tumblr core mixed with mid century modern. Overall decent.

Adrian C.

Yelp
Had a great time here! The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I got the beef Wellington and it totally lived up to the hype--so good. Also came back for brunch recently and everything we tried was really fantastic. Great atmosphere, good portions, and just an awesome spot overall. Definitely planning to come back soon!

Siman L.

Yelp
Stardust is one of our favorite brunch spots in Boise. We went there recently for dinner for the first time and it was just as amazing. We got the bacon wrapped dates and bread service for apps, I got the beef Wellington (must try!) and my husband got the lobster roll. Everything about it was top notch, I loved the horseradish potatoes that the dish was served with. The lobster roll was small but delicious nonetheless. We both got the chocolate mousse for dessert after, it was so delicate and yummy. We would come back here for the beef Wellington and chocolate mousse!
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
We had such an enjoyable dinner. The service was fantastic. There was a mix up on our dinner and they were very apologetic and comped some of it. The food was delicious. Has steak and truffle fries, chicken pot pie, ceaser salad and spring for the berry cobbler which was incredible. We'll be back!
google avatar

Natalie K.

Yelp
Food was delicious and staff was kind. Plus it's decorated beautifully. We've been back several times. You cannot go wrong with dinner or brunch!

Diane R.

Yelp
Went on Easter Sunday without a reservation so we sat at the bar. The bartender was awesome but unfortunately the food was cold.
google avatar

Madison P.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! We went for the first time and loved everything! The space was wonderfully decorated and welcoming. Our server, Vadim, was excellent and we can't wait to return and try more dishes!
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I went to dinner with a couple friends to Stardust. Here's my honest review and opinion. No, it's not worth the money. We ordered 3 apps. The scallops were good, but not worth $20 for 4 medium sized scallops. The cheese soufflé was ok, but again, expensive for what you get. I didn't try the steak tartar, but the rest of our party did and they left more than half to be taken away. We each ordered a soup or salad. I had the lobster bisque. It had an unnecessary pastry top, the bisque was thin with ok flavor. There was a decent amount of lobster chunks, however, I wish I'd skipped ordering it. The french onion soup was ordered by 2 of our party and they both said it was good not great. The salad ordered by our last party member said it was pretty much a pile of leaves with little to no toppings. For the meals, I ordered surf and turf. My steak was well over done and was sent back. The lobster was ok, no real flavor and the melted butter to dip didn't add much. The asparagus was over cooked and disappointing. The manager came by and apologized for my steak being over done. She agreed that it was well over cooked and said they were taking my meal off the bill. (They actually ended up taking off my husband's meal which was cheaper.) They remade the steak, but by the time it was ready, everybody else was done eating, so we boxed it and brought it home. My husband wasn't impressed with his steak and said it was overseasoned and not a good cut. We ordered 2 desserts as a table, but could've skipped those, too. The cheesecake and key lime tart. Cheesecake was dry and the tart was lacking flavor. Even my shirley temple was not good. The sprite was weak and they didn't put much grenadine in to save it. Overall, I was very disappointed. I've read some good reviews on here and was excited to try it. That being said, I won't be going back. There are several places in the valley that are far better quality for less money. ***That all being said, the owner said she was going to refund my bill (minus tip) for a 'gesture of goodwill'. She ended up taking out the tip twice and refuses to do anything about it. She will lie to try and make herself look good. I originally just made a fb group post about my experience as a heads up to locals, but I will be posting my honest review anywhere I can. I gave several weeks for the owner to make things right and stay true to her word, but clearly, that's not going to happen. I have screenshot of everything. There are FAR better places to spend your money, where the food is top knotch and the service matches. Stardust is NOT worth your time or money.

Chandra C.

Yelp
Fun and funky vibe. Great drinks. Try the Slow Burn . Will definitely come back and try dinner.
google avatar

JungleMindState B.

Yelp
Everything I've had on their breakfast menu has been prepared perfectly. Love the atmosphere and vibe, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Adriana V.

Yelp
Beautiful ecléctic vibe! I'd come here just to sit in the chairs and enjoy the atmosphere. Came here on a Sunday funday to meet my sister and her new beau. We had the best server- friendly, had great recommendations and super accommodating. Tip- do the happy hour! We had awesome fondu, oysters and drinks from just that menu. The drinks were yummy- cosmo & Tom Collins. For food we had the steak frites and the beef short ribs with Swiss chard and polenta cakes. Flavor was good, had the best sauce and flavors all melded well. I'd say for $53 please give me a little more though...I mean Swiss chard is my favorite and it only had 5 pieces . Same with the amount of meat and polenta. Otherwise it was super yummy and I'll definitely be back for more happy hours

Riley J.

Yelp
The brunch here is top notch, made better by the kind, attentive staff & playful yet luxurious atmosphere.
google avatar

Kelsy P.

Yelp
1950s Hollywood inspired with a modern flare. This spunky cocktail lounge brings mid century into this century, giving classic dishes a new life. The local greens salad was soooo good and the beef wellington was rich. I felt like it was little over priced but still a tasty spot!
google avatar

Mely M.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Best brunch I've had in a long time! And Kara made the best espresso martini that I've ever had! Great service and great food!
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Fun retro vibes, friendly waitstaff and good service, great osso bucco and cocktails!
google avatar

Kathleen P.

Yelp
My friend and I grabbed some appetizers and salads tonight and loved everything we had. We enjoyed the Oysters Rockefeller, Fontina & Gruyère fondue, beet & burrata salad and Caesar salad. Also got some great wine. The service and ambiance were nice, too. Chose to sit near the bar because it's such a pretty area. I want to go back for a martini and the fondue alone! But truly I look forward to trying more items on the menu.

Anne D.

Yelp
Love this place!! The food is unique and consistently great. The staff is so friendly and fun. I love sitting at the bar and chatting with the owner Jamie and bartender Danny, who have now become friends. Highly recommend!!

Mitchell M.

Yelp
Amazing spot in downtown Boise for brunch and/or dinner. We go here almost every week. Fantastic menu and service. LOVE the mimosa bottle special for brunch and their eggs bebe. Swanky ambiance and for sure a MUST SEE if you're in Boise. Stay "dusty"!
google avatar

Gina B.

Yelp
Best brunch in Boise! Cool mid century vibe. Service can be a bit inconsistent, but front of house manager mitigates that. Also highly recommend for cocktails!

Dora S.

Yelp
Stardust has a nice ambiance and serves drinks, as well as, small but, varied portions of gourmet dishes. Make reservations for parties of four or more.

Martha B.

Yelp
Great service and wonderful salmon Wellington! Had a reservation but was not crowded even on a Friday night. Dessert was a mixed berry crumble shared and was delicious too? Will come again!
google avatar

David A. R.

Yelp
We were largely ignored. When we did get the attention of our waitress, we had to remind her of what our drink order was; a coke and orange juice. 45 minutes in, still no food. They were not busy and the reasons are obvious from the terrible service.

Melanie W.

Yelp
Just came to Stardust with my BFF to enjoy their brunch which we had never had before HALLEY came over promptly and greeted us directly to our table and let us know that she would be our server for the day She answering all of our questions about the happy hour types of food, which drinks were the best, etc. She was awesome!!! We ordered the eggs, Benedict, Croque Madame, a bottle of mimosa, and the bacon/Almond dates Oh my gosh!!!! Everything was awesome and I could not believe how inexpensive our brunch was, which included everything I mentioned, Plus a charcuterie (once it turned 3 PM) My girlfriend and I split the bill and it was cheaper than the other day when we went out for lunch at an average restaurant and shared a meal with one drink ! This is THE spot! Come check it out. I know there's some construction going around, but Isn't there everywhere in the valley right now? It is actually on the corner and across from Sid's Garage on Maine & 19th in Boise. Have a wonderful day and try them out! Thank you Halley, Melanie & DeeDee "The girls who LOVE the food Experience."

Rebecca C.

Yelp
I don't leave bad reviews but making an exception for the way we were treated. My friend recommended we try this place for a meet up. From the moment we walked in, the hostess was completely rude. She asked if we had reservation which we did not. She proceeded to tell us that we needed reservations though the restaurant was completely empty. Then changed her mind and said she would "need to make several rearrangements" to accommodate us and we only had an hour to eat and get out. Her attitude was out of line through the entire exchange. On 2 occasions I caught the hostess complaining to the server about our lack of a reservation. It was uncomfortable. Furthermore the food was very overpriced, very underwhelming, and VERY overpriced.
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
Excellent outing at Stardust on a busy Thursday night. Staff went above and beyond to strongly accommodate a party of 14. Food was great, and the cocktails were excellent. Solid outing altogether!
google avatar

Archaeolo_she ..

Yelp
My fiancé and I came here on a Tuesday night for my birthday and we had an amazing experience. For most of the night it was pretty empty inside, but given that it was a weekday, I assume it was normal. In any case, the service was amazing. Thank you to Tyler for taking great care of us. I ordered the French onion soup as an appetizer and the salmon Wellington for the entrée- both were incredible. The key lime tart was to die for! We will definitely be back. For anyone looking for a high end dining experience, this is would be the perfect place.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
We went for brunch and dinner. So delicious! And great service. The Benedict and the airline chicken are my favorite.

Katie K.

Yelp
We were looking for a fun day date spot, and Stardust was perfect. Fun atmosphere that felt swanky but comfortable. The cocktails were delicious and unique. And the happy hour menu was amazing! Can't wait to come back.

Alison S.

Yelp
Our bartender Mack was friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to dine with. The chicken pot pie was as good as the service! We loved the mid-century modern vibes. Great spot!

Daniel T.

Yelp
They changed their menu, it's not what's on Yelp. More of a bar and snack place now. We were expecting the dinner option when we came but unfortunately we were in for a different menu. Ended up leaving and finding another place.
