Stardust: Inspired Mediterranean , Persian

We've found our new take out favorite spot! We've been ordering from here for two days straight, and for good reason. This place is a hidden gem in West Roxbury. Every dish is fresh and flavorful, and their menu offers a wonderful variety of options. The portions are very generous too. Plus the owner/chef is friendly and clearly the real deal. You have got to try it.

soooo good!! we got two beef hamburger pita pockets and they were so yummy and huge! the falafel was fresh. the service was incredible and the owner was so so kind. would absolutely recommend this place for persian food. will be trying more of their menu very soon

Sharing the updated menu since it’s hard to find otherwise - delicious food from the nicest proprietor, highly recommended! Just wish they did online ordering (their third party apps don’t reflect the full menu).

We we order from Stardust for my mother’s 91st birthday party. The food was fabulous. The falafel were so light and wonderful. All of the meats disappeared immediately-so flavorful and tender-and the vegetables were great for both vegetarians and mediators. Truly a great experience.

Got the large falafel pita wrap for only $15 - it was delicious and huge, well worth the money. The one guy running the restaurant was super friendly. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall with very little seating and no bathroom, but will definitely be back for takeout.

Stardust, the only thing that would beat their food is their service, hospitality, and kindness. I think it was the owner, and I was surprised to learn he included baklava in the order “on the house.” When he learned it was my first time ordering, he added an extra side of hummus, tzatziki, and another side dish on the house. I think he asked if I liked the food if I could let others know, which I was more than happy to do. This was my first time ordering, and I went with their beef wrap, which was delicious, their lamb plate, which was also delicious, and their vegetable plate, which was also delicious. I'm saving the garden salad wrap for tomorrow and look forward to digging in. To summarize, Stardust’s food is fabulous, and its service is top-notch. I highly recommend folks try their food

Tried this place after seeing the positive reviews. It didn't disappoint me, firstly the customer service was amazing. The guy was so patience and made the order to perfection. Gave extra pita bread and baklava dessert. He made each thing with so much concentration and love, it felt like he really liked serving the people with great foods. Also had good conversation with him and he is too humble person. The food quality was really great, meat had lot of flavor and very tender. I was really impressed with this place, little spot but great food. Will definitely visit again

Wonderful restaurant. I recently used Stardust to cater a birthday party. It was last minute and I ordered the day before the event. The owner put together an amazing spread for me. I had plenty of food that everyone loved and had leftovers. Will definitely go back.

I needed to update this review. I must have caught him on an off day last time, and frankly I was emabarassingly wrong. I got a large order from Stardust today, and everything was great. The food is very authentic and delicious. I ordered nearly everything on the menu, and the lamb tenderloin kebab and beef/chicken luleh (burger) kebabs were my favorite. Also, probably my favorite hummus I have had anywhere. This is a small place, so for large orders call well in advance! The owner is very friendly and does a great job. Overall, some of the best Persian/caucuses style food around. I actually prefer this to Roxana in Watertown (and they are quite good)

Amazingly good - I have lived nearby for years but never ordered, this will be on my takeout rotation going forward though! Flavorful Mediterranean food, affordable, overall great.

Have been to sooo many persian/mediterranean restos and this by far serves the best koobideh. Ambiance is homely. Very cool paintings and wall decor. The man servicing me was nice and professional. Would come back again if in the area.

Hummus is awesome. Portions are good. The food is in no question. What makes this place shine is the owner. He will treat every customer as one. You dont get that much these days. Go in and have a conversation with him.

What a pleasant break from the norm of shawarma and middle eastern grilled plates in Boston. There is SO MUCH variation to the cuisines of the region, but all we ever get i feel like is Greek, and hit-or-miss Lebanese-esque (which, when it's a hit, I do love), and those cuisines are pretty familiar and sadly most places are very cookie cutter. Not here! Stardust has everything I love about Greek and middle eastern food: fresh, not too oily, grilled meats, good rice (or flat bread), refreshing salads, and silky hummus, but it's a little different! "Inspired" even ;) I'll need to come back for some of their signature dishes, but can definitely recommend either chicken plate if you like the kind of meal I described. As others have mentioned, they are hefty! I would note that the spicy chicken is not at all "spicy", but it is "spiced" heavily, and comes with a hot pepper relish Service was fast when I can in around 1pm, and the (I'm assuming) owner hooked me up with some bread and baklava to try. So glad he did because they're both excellent! Bread is like a pita if it was fluffy, and the baklava tastes like nuts (not just sugar like at some other spots *cough*Boston Shawarma*cough*) and was a great end to lunch

This little hole in the wall restaurant is my go to for takeout. Amazing food, and the portion sizes are huge. Can stretch the chicken plate to 3 meals if needed. If you pick up in person the staff is sooooo nice. They throw in little goodies to try and will tell you treats that aren't always on the menu. Usually have a stew cooking for those cold nights.

Great food. Large portions. Best homemade pita bread I've ever had - warm it up in the toaster oven first. Could only eat about half the entree. Not a dine-in kind of place, FYI. The eggplant dip, babaganoush is really good too. The medium is pretty big. Nice guy.

So yummy. Stopped here on a whim and got chicken and lamb plates. The meat was super flavorful and the homemade hummus . Will be back.

Yes, just yes. Everything here is fresh, delicious, spot-on, and generously portioned. And, the owner is so nice to boot (even gave us a baba ganoush on the house!). My Shirin Polo plate came with like, 7-8 very large chunks of chicken kebab, hummus, salad, yogurt sauce, and that killer saffron rice topped with pistachios and almonds and candied orange/carrot and barberries. With the closing of places like Jasmine Taste of Persian, Khayyem, and Lala Rokh, there are far too few places to get this rice around here, and I'm thrilled we can find an excellent version at Stardust. But rice aside, everything else was delicious as well. My chicken kebab was marinated and seasoned perfectly with just a kiss of charcoaly exterior, and I could not stop eating the hummus. Even the little salad was tasty, with oregano and sumac in the dressing. And everything else we ordered was excellent- the chicken kubideh was probably some of the most flavorful ground chicken I've had in a while, the sour cherry rice was also yummy, the dolma had plenty of flavor, the spinach pie was crunchy and tasty, the yogurt cucumber dip was refreshing, the eggplant-hater in the house begrudgingly admitted that the (complimentary) baba was really good, the baklava was tasty, even the pita (while nothing special) made for some good bites. Not a bad item in the bunch, here. (Note that the mango lassi is a prepackaged item, so not homemade- nor is the pita, I believe.) The one downside is they don't really have their online ordering up and running, so you need to call- and they get a bit slammed sometimes so you might have to wait. Otherwise, what are you waiting for? Pop by for an excellent, healthy lunch or dinner.

This place does falafel just right-- perfectly seasoned and prepared, using fresh as opposed to pickled veggies in their wraps. I'm quite particular about the flavor of the falafel balls, and Stardust's falafel has a flavor that's very close to the best of the mobile trucks you might visit around MIT. They make the best falafel in the West Roxbury area. Good prices and little to no wait. Their baklava (dessert) and lamb plates are also quite tasty.

We wanted to try this place out, and glad we did. The restaurant is a hole in the wall - not anything fancy, and strictly take out, but the food is very good. We tried the chicken and the vegetarian platters. The hummus (always the litmus test of mediterranean restaurants) is great, as are the grape leaves and even the rice is tasty. The chicken is relatively average, but all told I'm certainly prepared to try a few more items on the menu. I do wish they had an alternative to the styrofoam take out containers...I hate, HATE styrofoam.

Great falafel wrap with yogurt sauce and really friendly proprietor. Free Baklava sampler didn't hurt...and it was great! I'll be back.

I had some doubts but I opened the container...wow..then I tasted..woweee. I ordered the eggplant and a lamb plate. Really nice presentation. They also had my favorite drink in the fridge Gopi Mango Lassi.

The Greek salad is so well prepared and flavorful it's my new favorite menu item! I usually get the chicken plate because the chicken, hummus and tzatziki is really phenomenal here, but this salad was really really great. I always have a great meal here, and the owner is so friendly and welcoming.

We have been coming to this restaurant making a 30 mins drive frequently over the past year and have been enjoying their chicken dishes a lot. We went there yesterday and the owner was quite rude and told us that the meat is not halal. We were shocked as we only eat halal food and we have been eating their meat dishes for a year now. The owner was pleasant previously and knew that we are Muslims who only eat halal food but never bothered to tell us before. We are taken aback by this restaurant's false advertising about it being halal and the rude owner. Please don't spend your money to a dishonest business that takes advantage of people's religious food restrictions. Very disappointed!

I don't know how West Roxbury ended up with such a gem, but this place beats out pretty much every formal sit down Mediterranean place in downtown Boston. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and it is definitely meant to be take-out, but OMG for flavor, freshness, and visual appeal. What take out places garnishes with microgreens? Stardust does! We wanted to try everything, so we had a lamb kabob, a chicken kabob, the rice with carrot and orange, and the beef, eggplant, and dal stew (Ghaimeh Eggplant with Beef). Then the order came with a small, tangy salad, a side of tzatziki, and the best hummus that I have ever had including during a ten-day trip to Israel. The chicken was marinated in saffron and yogurt, which was super yummy. The lamb was solidly good. The next time (and the time after, and the time after, and the time after that), I might request the stew be vegetarian as the eggplant was the star of the dish, and the beef didn't matter. Devra First, Food Editor for the Boston Globe, you need to try this place. All of you writers, bloggers, and kitchen test chefs for Cooks Magazine, you need to try this place. I can't wait to go back and eat even more of this remarkable cooking. And while serving sizes don't matter to me--quality does--this will easily be 4 full meals for $48 including tip. Such a great little restaurant in the heart of West Roxbury, delicious Greek food, great for takeout. The owner Alan is so sweet and friendly. So happy to support this place, a nice simple menu and everything is customizable. I really love the hummus and the warmed pita flatbread. Tried this spot for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. The spicy chicken wrap was one of the best sandwiches Ive had in a while. Decent kick, quality chicken and ingredients. Will def be getting the spicy chicken wrap again

I've walked past this place a lot of times and kept meaning to give it a try, well today I went for it and I'm so happy I did. The grilled chicken was nicely grilled, the hummus is really delicious, and I really loved the little salad that comes with the plates. I'm not normally a fan of pre-dressed salads but this was excellent. I will be back just for that! Ordered delivery and it was easily the fastest delivery I've ever experiences. About 10 minutes from hitting submit to finding the plate at my front door. The food was still literally piping hot. So glad to have found this joint and will definitely order again!

3.5. We've been on a Mediterranean kick and since we often walk by this place my husband wanted to check it out. We ordered the food over the phone. My husband went to pick it up and he found the owner to be super friendly and they had a good chat. Overall we enjoyed the food we ordered. Like someone else said we found the falafels to be a bit dry. The baklava in my opinion was superb (it tends to be hit or miss for me). It's locally owned, reasonably priced. We will definitely be going here again.

I ordered delivery for lunch. The food arrived very quickly. The Greek salad with grilled chicken was delicious. The salad was fresh, chicken perfectly cooked and tender, and the dressing (although I prefer an oil based Greek) was light and luscious. Presentation was also lovely. There was an orchard in the middle of my salad.

My lamb plate was amazing! Succulent, savory morsels arranged on fragrant Persian rice were paired with creamy homemade hummus and a crisp, fresh salad. Don't forget to pick up some baklava for dessert!

I returned to give this spot another chance and this time, the formerly grumpy man was all animated about the night's presidential debate. He was very engaging and really into talking. The food was good, nicely seasoned, not tons of food that I would expect from a "plate" but everything was pleasant enough.

Very good food...a good variety too. If the online order function isn't working, just call in- it's worth it. Refer to their menu on their website, it is the most extensive/accurate. Everything I have had was extremely good, and the owner is very kind. Good desserts too- get some bastani and baklava!

Eggplant parm is superb. Service is excellent. Ambiance is zero as it is takeout only. Order 20 mins ahead of pickup. Ambiance is zilch.

This place never disappoints! Delicious vegetarian, vegan, and meat-lover options. The owner is very accommodating and super friendly. We've ordered from here 10-15 times and have always had very fresh produce, and quality meat. My absolute favorite is the greek salad wrap with homemade hummus and tzatziki, and my partner loves the grilled chicken and lamb options. Love this place! When we want takeout/delivery but want something healthy that leaves us feeling good, we always get Stardust. We especially love the chicken dinner plate, the different rice "flavors", the greek salad, the baba ganoush and the hummus. The baklava is also tasty. Great service.

I ordered a falafel and hummus wrap about a year ago, and I thought it was OK, nothing great. I ordered it again yesterday and I told the owner to add whatever he thinks would be good. And he did. And it WAS. Yum yum. Highly recommend.

A wonderful restaurant in West Roxbury--we have come back over a dozen times for the delicious spicy chicken and lamb wraps. And they are *very* generously sized--I usually eat half for dinner and save the other half for lunch. All of the appetizers are wonderful as well--hummus, tzatziki, and smoky baba ghanoush are favorites. And having just a bit of their delicious baklava at the end of the meal is perfect. I agree with others that the owner Alain (?) is always so courteous and kind, definitely another reason to continue supporting this local restaurant.

I ordered the Grilled Chicken Plate--and it was amazing! The meal is DELICIOUS; the chicken was flavorful and tender (its flavor gets amplified if you dip it on the tzaziki sauce), the colorful and fresh side salad was very tasty paired with the fluffy basmanti rice. The crowning jewel of this meal is the velvety hummus. Overall, the food is excellent, the food service is fast and the staff is friendly. I'm very pleased to discover this jewel in West Roxbury. Stardust definitely has a spot in my list of favorite restaurants.

I didn't really believe all the 5 star Yelp reviews so it has taken me two years to try Stardust since moving here. What a dope I am! The food, the owner, the price is all spot on. This is a take out place. There is just one table, and no AC. Open kitchen behind a counter. I think the options are a mix of many cuisines -- some are saying Greek -- and I did enjoy his spinach pies, but I am used to Koubideh from a Persian restaurant. Falafal and hummus-- Middle Eastern? It really doesn't matter, because his take on everything is very flavorful and tasty. I mentioned that I would like to come back to try some of the special rice and he threw a generous portion of the dried cherry rice into my order for free. He also gifted me a sample of baklava that was a treat to eat. He is super generous and the food is fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed his hummus which is unlike anything I have had before. I can see myself ordering from here at least once a week.

You will not be disappointed! It has a unassuming storefront so you could miss it when you are walking by but I would highly recommend stopping in. Not only is the food incredibly affordable, but it's the best Mediterranean food I have ever had!

A terrific little place serving delicious and fresh Middle Eastern food. I've been there about 4 or 5 times now, and am always amazed more people aren't in there. It's only a matter of time before this place catches on. I'm vegetarian, so I can't speak to how their meat is, but everything I've had is great. Their felafel and hummus and baba ghanoush are all delicious. The owner (I presume) is the only one I've ever seen in there, and he is extremely friendly and accommodating. I recommend letting him make recommendations/prepare a plate for you based on what you like. He's given me a little of bit everything when I've done this, and I've never been disappointed. For vegetarians/vegans: He's also always asked me (once it's clear I don't eat meat), about whether I eat dairy, eggs, etc. and made sure I was only getting vegetarian items. For the amount of food you get, Star Dust is very reasonably priced as well.

Don't pass up the opportunity to try some of the best Mediterranean food in the area. Strictly a takeout spot but the food is high quality and plentiful. It is a family owned restaurant and they are obviously invested in providing a fantastic meal. The baba is to die for, smokey, smooth and delicious. I had the Abaloo Polo with Chicken and my husband had the Lamb Kabob. The portions were huge and the meats tender. Entrees, aside from rice, came with salad, hummus and Tzatziki with extra pita and baklava thrown in because we were first time customers. Be adventurous and try their 'flavored rice' options. Almonds, pistachios, sour cherries, and a variety of other ingredients added to the rice compliment the meal nicely. I have absolutely nothing bad to say. The owners take pride in what they do and it shows. We will be back, I'm sure, many times to come.

Place is awesome! Typically order and pick up on my way home from work. There are a few tables to sit and there's always good music playing softly in the background. The prices are super reasonable too, giant chicken wraps for 9$!

I ordered the Greek salad with chicken and the large hummus for pick up. The salad was delicious and fresh, and the hummus and pita combo was amazing! (Especially the hummus, it was very creamy and delightful.) I will be back!

I just hit a falafel wrap and was disappointed! I found it dry and had no taste! The Greek salad was good! Lots of salad! I would try other items from this restaurant! If you do not live in the area parking is not great! It's street parking only!

We had planned to go to a nearby restaurant, but since it was closed, we took a chance on Stardust. It's just a small place, only three tables, and likely does mostly take-out. The food was delicious! The hummus was mild, creamy and maybe the best I've had -far better than store-bought. The smoked eggplant dip was amazing especially with the included chewy bread. The felafel was terrific as well. It seems like a one man operation and the man serving was so generous with the portions, and very welcoming. You get the sense this is more of a calling for him than a way to make money. Not sure how long this restaurant has been around, but we will definitely be back to try more dishes. Highly recommended. Very curious about the restaurant name!
