Shuttered Heights Seafood Restaurant Star Fish Will Undergo a Major Revamp | Eater Houston

"I note that this Heights seafood hotspot at 191 Heights Boulevard, Star Fish, opened in 2017 and served its final service last Saturday before closing for about a month for an interior revamp as it is transformed into a new concept; Sambrooks Management Company, which purchased Star Fish (along with Pi Pizza and Sam’s Fried Chicken and Donuts) in 2018 from now-defunct Cherry Pie Hospitality, appears to be rebranding and distancing the operation amid Cherry Pie Hospitality’s ongoing lawsuits alleging a fire-sale of assets and investor claims." - Amy McCarthy

Lawsuits Allege Cherry Pie Hospitality Stiffed Its Investors Before Selling Off Its Restaurants in a Fire Sale | Eater Houston

"Included in an August 2018 package purchase by Sambrooks Management Company for a total of $464,994 covering multiple restaurants plus their recipes, intellectual property, and stored equipment; the transaction has been characterized as a below-market fire sale in related court filings, and an investor alleges the sale proceeds did not go toward repaying his $1 million loan." - Amy McCarthy

Houston’s Biggest Dining Stories of 2018 | Eater Houston

"Part of a small local restaurant group that ran into financial and legal trouble, this seafood spot was locked out of its Heights location in mid-2017 over unpaid rent, reopened a few days later, and was ultimately sold as part of a package of restaurants to a new owner by late August 2018." - Amy McCarthy

My husband and I have tried the Laguna Beach Starfish location and decided to try the Newport Beach one as well. The food and service here were exceptional and we'll definitely be returning! For sushi we ordered the Lobster macadamia roll and Crab California roll. Both tasted so fresh and we loved the siracha ailoli on each, adds a nice spice flavor. For an entree, we got the Cambodian black pepper filet with the coconut rice. Definitely recommend, the filet cooked perfectly tender. As a dessert, we ordered the bread pudding, cooked perfectly and perfectly rich to end the meal.

I went to Starfish this past Sunday evening and had the best experience! First off, the service we received was exceptional. They were able to accommodate our party with ease, and our server, Paige, was attentive and sweet. She gave us multiple great recommendations. Also, the food was outstanding, especially the spice beef with basil. I will certainly be back soon and will recommend this place to others.

What a delicious place to eat!! I’m from Australia and was craving Asian food. My grandma took me here and wow 10/10 hit the spot. Great portions, perfect flavours and affordable prices. Thanks Paige for your lovely energy and attentive service 😍 I’ll be sure to come back when I visit LA.

Arrived on a Friday early evening with no reservation and the hostess could not have been nicer. If I could give the service 10 stars, I would. The servers, bartender, food runners, were all great. Nice wine selection. We enjoyed the summer roll (which was huge) and the crab-mango noodles, also generously portioned. Highly recommend!

Great food, service & ambiance. Been to this location & the one in Laguna 5-6 times each. Introduced ~ a dozen friends to Starfish here or there & they all love it. Owners know us as Wili. Back again for the umpteenth time. Fantastic food, superb service, vibrant venue as always.

One of my favorite happy hours in town! So many delicious dishes to try, perfect for sharing. Pair with any of their cocktails for a great outing in Newport Beach (I loved the lychee and cantaloupe martinis).

Went for happy hour. Great food and service was 10/10. Saw some of the negative reviews about experiences with the hostess but tbh she was perfectly nice (tho I understand experiences will carry). Our server was attentive and sweet as can be. The green curry sauce on the wok fried mussels was incredible. My wife and I will go back just for that

From the moment you walk in and greeted by the hostess Ellen, it is a first class experience. She is one of the Best hostesses ever always has a smile and accommodate you when she's able to. After walking in the door and you sit down, the menu is so diversified and there's so many options. We have come to love the steamed dumplings, the Thai chicken salad, spicy general Chang's chicken and the ribs. However, I've also had spicy prawns. I've never had a bad dish at starfish. The food is fresh delicious, and one of the best restaurants in Newport for this type of food. In fact, we live six months out of the year and another state we got off the plane and went right to starfish Newport Beach. That's how good the food is highly recommended if you want the best Asian fare food in Newport.. I would definitely give it a 10
