Stark Waxing Studio

I’ve been going to this place for almost 2 years and it’s very hit or miss however, after the last two failed appointments in a row, I’m now taking the time to leave a review. Two months ago I went in and my lashes were Overprocessed and unevenly curled from the left right eye. I came back two months later to go see somebody else at this same location and saw A woman named Ricky again who I’ve seen a few times previously. She has been rude and provided terrible customer service in the past but after today, it’s worth leaving a review so no one Else ends up having to deal with her the way I did. She wouldn’t let me talk and kept bossing me around the room and talking over me when I was trying to explain what I wanted with my lashes. She kept telling me to be quiet, put the lamp right in my eyes and said she was gonna take a picture and show me my lashes. this isn’t the first time I’ve dealt with her. I’ve just ignored her rude behavior in the past but today she was relentless. She told me it was too soon to do my lashes when I typically get them done every 6 to 8 weeks. I also was trying to tell her that I immediately washed and oiled my lashes after the appointment. I had two months ago, which did not go well at Stark as well. Everyone tells you that if you wash or put oil in your lashes right after an appointment, the lash lift comes out. Which is exactly what I did two months ago. So Ricky now telling me today that it’s too soon was not only absurd, but she continued to talk over me like I was a three-year-old child. Her demeanor, sound of voice and bizarre behavior is honestly so annoying to deal with. She has done both my brows and my lashes and never really provided a great service. When she did my brows, she refused to trim them for me claiming that that’s not what they’re supposed to do. Anyway, this place is a collective of different people who come and go And she’s one who is apparently been there for a while. Go at your own risk. It’s a waste of time. Also they don’t use keratin which is much better for your lashes anyway. Best of luck y’all.

Carissa at stark is amazing, I found the cost comparable to other places in LA + her overall demeanor + vibes were so wonderful, I had to work through out our appointment + she was more than accommodating. I have already had multiple compliments on my eyebrows + only had them done yesterday. My eyelash lift was also incredibly quick + comfortable.

So happy to have found my go to spot! It’s such a cute place and most importantly, the service is incredible! Olga paid such attention to detail and made me feel comfortable immediately.

I started going to Stark in summer 2021, and I will never go anywhere else. The front-desk staff members are really friendly and efficient. There are benches inside where you can sit and wait if you're early, and a little shop with books and other gifts you can browse through. I always book with Sarah because she is positively magical. I don't know how she does it, but I never feel pain when she waxes me, only some mild discomfort. She's very attentive to small details and never leaves stray hairs on me. When you go, ask Sarah what she's readying lately because she is always deep into some fascinating new book.

Sarah S. is amazing! I have been a regular client of hers for a while now and can say she is very professional, moves quickly but never rushed and always addresses any questions or requests, creating an overall pleasing experience. The easiest and most consistent wax experience I've had in LA.

Love the quality of their unique gifts in the shop, but the vibe at the front counter is very hit or miss, depending who is working at the counter. They definitely need to UPDATE their hours. The front gift shop closes at 6:30p, as I was rudely informed by a woman who locked the door in my face and brushed past me at 6:45p.

I had a fantastic experience at Stark Waxing Studio with Ricki for my first-ever eyebrow shaping. Ricki was incredibly friendly, professional, and knew exactly what she was doing. I tried to walk in on a Friday, but they were fully booked, so I made an appointment for Monday, and the process was smooth and hassle-free. Ricki made sure I understood every step of the process, ensuring I was comfortable and wouldn't end up with anything I didn't want. She took great care and precautions, which made the whole experience easy and reassuring. Highly recommend!

I got my brazilian done here and the service is quick and the ladies are professional and kind. $65 for the base price of the wax but if it's your first time they take $5 off or 15% off (can't remember which one). the location is next to other shops/coffee so it's fun/safe if you want to walk around.

I've been coming to Stark since summer of 2021, and my only complaint is that I wish I had found Stark sooner! I go monthly to get my hairy ears and nose waxed, and I always go to Sarah because she is absolutely magical. She's super-attentive to the smallest details and never misses a stray hair. When you go, ask her what she's reading because she's always into the most interesting books.

I have never done anything to my eyebrows, except some waxing, and not for over a year. I went to see Ricke for eyebrow, lamination and tint. My experience was amazing. She is excellent. she made me feel so comfortable explained the whole process, and she made my eyebrows look amazing I would recommend her to the most highest. She made me feel so comfortable, and safe. I am definitely going back again. The whole place is very cute and clean and the front desk girls are so sweet.

First time at Stark and it was the most WONDERFUL experience!! I was kind of nervous because it was the first time I've had a Brazilian wax in a while, but Lidia made me feel SO comfortable and did such a fantastic job!!! The front desk staff was lovely too and the entire experience was a breeze. Will 100% be coming back!!!

Stark used to have a location over in West Hollywood but they've closed down (I think it was in FacePlace on Santa Monica Blvd.). Now this location is their last one standing and although it's a trek for me since I've moved across town, I have to admit it was worth the drive. I was back and forth via email with their front desk, and they were prompt and friendly in getting back to me, which made me look forward to my visit. One thing I was aware of is how awful the parking is in this area, so I was lucky to get a spot way up past Hamilton near Berkeley. I knew I was taking a risk on appointments being available at a reasonable time, but I knew I wanted to check out their retail. There is a cute shop in the front that has everything from skincare to cards, items for 'well-being' and some really pretty lollipops that are too attractive to eat. Lord Jones also has a small shelf here as well if that is your thing. And I was happy to see one of my favorite lines by Henne available! Brigitte (Brigid?) was the girl working at the desk, and she was really helpful. During this visit, I was just looking at their gifts and seeing if a tech was working that I was familiar with. I knew I would return for an actual service when I had more time to be in the area. This came about a month later where I was super lucky with getting a parking spot practically right on the corner of Sunset and Micheltorena St. I don't know who the girl at the desk was this time around, but she wasn't as friendly as the girl on my prior visit. Not to worry, all of my interactions-including payment-was with the girl (Maya) who did my eyebrows, and she did them well. The rooms are semi-private where the ceiling is open so you can hear a flurry of activity within the space. Waxing services of any kind aren't exactly relaxing anyway, so I didn't mind the chatter. Stark is quite a distance for me, but at least I know you can get a decent brow job done here, in addition to another bonus: being right next door to Lark Cake Shop...

Sarah is the GOAT Been coming here for 4 years straight and honestly she's family at this point. Super patient, great listener and makes me feel like I'm chatting with my bestie. Plus get compliments every time (; I know it can be intimidating but honestly it's so worth it, and ingrowns gone every time. Feel like smooth butter

(THIS IS FOR SARAH SANTIAGO) I have been seeing Sarah for many years now, since she went between both studios in Silverlake and West Hollywood. Now that WEHO has closed I travel across town just to see Sarah. First of all, her work is amazing. I have sensitive skin and I am never irritated after a wax with her. She has mastered my eyebrows--I never got compliments on them before I started to see her and now I do all the time! She is professional, kind and I just can't say enough good things about her. She truly goes the extra mile. Worth a drive across town (or across the world!). The shop itself is super cute, I always pick up a little card or candle when I am there. A true LA gem.

stellar customer service. I had a face wax, it was painless and relaxing, in fact. I saw Alex Del Gaudio and she was kind, soothing and knowledgeable. I recommend any first timers see her. the shop is great too!

I only go here to get my waxing done. And my wax girl is Carissa!! She's the nicest, sweetest person ever!! The studio is really nice and clean too. And they have so many cute knick knacks you can buy while you wait. So dangerous! haha Also the wax they use is the kind that doesn't stick to your skin, so it doesn't irritate your skin. Parking is kind of a pain because it's on the busy street of Sunset. But I usually try to go on a weekday morning if I can.

i cannot rave ENOUGH about the level of comfort, cleanliness, and friendliness of the stark waxing studio staff! i've been coming to get waxes with Sarah S. for about a year now & i understand why clients travel far to get a session in with her. Her work is absolutely incredible, she's gentle & efficient! please do yourself a favor & give yourself the ultimate self care day with a session with Sarah! girl math, you're saving money by coming in because your session comes with a mini therapy session & heals your soul... as well as those stubborn ingrowns.

This review is for the gift shop not their services... To start the gal working looked like she was in hell. Didn't seem to want to be there, didn't want to help me. I shop for bands for dressing rooms, events, all their needs. I spend a bag of loot on the daily due to the nature of my work. I Have a good idea of what I need and asked a simple question ("do you have lavender candles?") and her reply was to just "look around". She was too busy on her phone to even make eye contact with me. Mega attitude. So found the candle I needed, paid $45 for it. She wouldn't/couldn't give me a itemized receipt too which would resort in drama with my accountant. Awesome. The second I stepped outside I was texted I needed a more citrus scent so I went back in to ask if I could do a straight exchange to a different scent. Again with no eye contact she says NO. I can see if I was gone for days then came back and all that but legit it was 10 min later. Needles to say will not shop here again or recommend to anyone or my work. Many other accommodating and helpful stores all over LA. I would give one star but the candle is great. Sorry to bother you with my business. Bye Felicia.

Rikki was so friendly & gentle during my wax. It is an open ceiling style studio - all the rooms share an open ceiling so you can hear pretty much everything. I thought this might be weird as to why I avoided coming here, but I really didn't notice or mind it at all. Rikki clearly knows what she is doing and made me feel very comfortable throughout the process. I also think the prices here are very fair compared to other waxing studios in the immediate area. I appreciate they offer a range of prices depending how thorough of a wax you want, definitely makes this more accessible. Street parking is limited and you may need to pay a meter if the free parking up the block is full, but I do think this place is worth it. I usually get sugar wax and so far this is the least painful yet still effective hard wax I've gotten in a long time.

TL;DR: Clarissa gave me the BEST experience with my bikini wax despite me being pain intolerant and a wax virgin (ish). I will return here for all my waxing appointments! See below for details... I'll keep it 100: My pain tolerance? Doesn't exist. And I have super sensitive skin. So you can imagine why I have an aversion to waxing. I decided to take a chance three years ago, and I regretted EVERY minute of my experience. The facility was sterile. The technician was cold and not interested in casual conversation. When it came time for the dreaded waxing, I laid on a table for two minutes (buck naked) and then she put some type of hot wax on me that felt like liquid fire. She then ripped one stretch of hair, and I was DONE! Within one minute I was bleeding and in pain, and decided it was better for me to waste the $60 I spent on a Groupon deal and leave my appoint with only 1/8 of my bikini area waxed. I'll never forget the hell that was that experience. After years of recuperating from that trauma, I decided to take a chance on Stark (specifically Clarissa) for another bikini wax. I honestly expected the worst: to be in so much pain, I was willing to sacrifice my money to escape. But my experience was AMAZING and as painless as can be! She was a gentle soul who talked me through the most tense moments of my waxing appointment, gave me tips for preventing ingrown hairs after the appt, and even threw in a beginners discount. This was the waxing experience I dreamed of but never thought was possible. If you have sensitive skin, or a wuss when it comes to pain, or had traumatic experiences at other salons, take a chance on this place. They will change your mind on the waxing process!

Maya is in a league of her own. Best Brazilian wax in LA. Her technique, product application and professional/attentive bed side manner are remarkable.

They have various products and goodies for you to go home with rather you are stopping by or coming in for services. The staff is kind and the places is very clean. The reason they are getting a 4 star rather than 5 is due to the parking. Parking can be congested and it's only metered parking from what I have been advised and found. I have come here 2-3 times and each time it's the same parking challenges. I love their products and goodies they carry. It's so many options for such a small area, but they have great gifting items

I LOVE SARAH SANTIAGO! She's the best!!! I can't say enough great things about her. She's definitely your go-to person at this place! :D Plus ever since the re-opening, I've noticed this location is extra clean, they check your temperature upon arrival, and sanitize everything. It's allowed me to feel safe during this crazy time lol

This place is adorable. First off the boutique at the front has literally everything to pamper yourself and friends. The check in was easy, they took my temperature and I signed a waiver before being taken in the back. Sara reviewed my eye brows and we talked about the things she could do to get them from looking like unruly sad caterpillars to manicured eye brows I could be proud of. After our chat she went to work and I've never had an eye brow wax that didn't make me tear up in pain. It was painless and she took her time. They came out amazing and I plan to come back for all my Waxing needs. 100% worth every Penny.

I have been seeing Lulu at Stark for a few years now and I only have positive things to say about her services. Stark has reasonable prices on waxing services and I have had a few lash lifts here that lasted even longer than I expected! Make sure to allow some time to peruse the cute gift shop after you're wax. They have a million lovely little gifts for kids and adults!

I've been going to Stark for years and love it! It's spotless, efficient, well priced and I've had nothing but good experiences there. As a bonus, the boutique has some really nice items and I often end up buying something while I'm there for a waxing appointment. Lidia and all the other estheticians are fantastic. Even when I was working on the westside I would make the drive to Silverlake to go to Stark. My skin is somewhat sensitive, and I have never had a bad reaction to any products used here. The parking is nuts but that's to be expected for the area. Looking forward to visiting again once the pandemic is over.

I go to Heidi for bikini/ Brazilian waxing and I have incredibly sensitive skin and a near crippling shyness when pant-less. Heidi is disarming, fun, detailed and I've never had any of the skin issues that have happened in the past from other wax experiences. I see a lot reviews focused on parking or the transition to a more tech/ independent reservation/ check in system. It's true, you might need to park a few blocks behind Sunset but for me, having a dependable experience far outweighs an extra couple minutes of walking. Personally, I don't mind the online appt/ checkout and have never had any issues. Easy Breezy.

I travel from Culver City to Silverlake just to see Sarah Santiago for monthly brazilian waxes. She is thorough and super fast. I never go anywhere else because she is the best.

When I first moved to LA, someone suggested Stark Waxing, and I've never gone anywhere since! Sarah is hands down the best waxer I've ever experienced. She is quick, thorough, has incredible attention to detail, and is such a pleasant person to be around - she's become one of my favorite people! She also reads the room, which I appreciate - she won't chat if you don't feel like it. I recommend Sarah and Stark to everyone.

They have an online appointment calendaring system now, which is just as easy as calling in. They take same day appointments too, but making the appointment early in the day gives u a better chance to set an appt. If u do a walk-in, send a message via website and they will respond quickly to try and accommodate you. They boutique items are lovely and I love their candles here.

LOVE this place. I always try to go with Heidi. I get my eyebrows and bikini area waxed. They're gentle, clean, fast and precise. I never have a bad thing to say. Heidi is wonderful and she really gets everything clean with no breakage. I also have sensitive skin and the first time I was worried about the lavender oil they used but it is sensitive enough that I'm fine and love the extra added touch of the light lavender smell! I just wished they were closer to where I now live! :(

LOVE everything about Stark! Friendly and professional staff. Very clean/hygienic and comfortable. On top of an excellent waxing, you can also purchase the coolest things in their gift store. I purchased my home in Silverlake in 2002, so I am WELL aware of the parking issues, as I often have to get cars towed because they block the gate to my driveway. The parking "heads up" is for anyone who's not familiar with our neighborhood and should be aware. As I reviewed, I highly recommend Stark.

My husband needed his brows and nosed waxed so we came here today. His brows looked good, but the waxer wasn't careful and got wax all over his nose ring, so when she pulled the wax out she yanked the ring. He came out bleeding and in pain. He's been waxed many times and this has never happened. He said he won't be going back. And they still charged us! I understand accidents happen but they could have comped us the $15. You'd think in Silver Lake of all places they'd know how to handle a nose piercing. He also had little bits of wax stuck in his hair when he left. Ugh!

Stark is my absolute favorite place to get waxed in LA. Today I had the best wax of my whole life !! Lulu was amazing. I have corse hair and I'm a sensitive person by nature, but she made the process nearly painless and super fun. I cannot recommend this place enough ! If you're looking for professionals that take time to make sure youre getting an amazing experience and amazing results, this is the spot. Thank you Stark !!

I found Stark from a listing in a beauty magazine where I used to work, and having tried my fair share of waxers, I have to say it's the best, most stress-free waxing experience I've ever had. Lidia is amazing--she is efficient and professional, really puts you at ease, and the results are great. (Get the hard wax for as pleasant and pain-free an experience as possible.) The location is spotless and has a cute shop up front with candles, cards, and small gifts. The one drawback: The treatment rooms have thin walls, and are in earshot of the shop area, so you hear lots of chitchat while you're getting waxed, which can be a bit unnerving. At one appointment, I blurted out, "WHY are there little kids in here?!" And Lidia and I just burst out laughing.

Probably the WORST waxing experience I've ever had... Lydia did my wax and I was honestly surprised with how bad it was. She left a bunch of wax on me & lifting my skin. Beware, ladies.

I had such a great first time experience at Stark this evening! Everything was so clean and COVID safe; they texted me to come inside when my esthetician was ready, there was hand sanitizer galore, I signed a COVID form on an iPad that had just been wiped down, they wore masks and face shields - I felt super safe and comfortable. Alex did such a great job with my brows, I really felt like I was at a spa with how much time she took not just waxing them, but massaging them with different oils - it smelled heavenly and my experience was so relaxing. The shop itself is darling with tons of great gifts from baby clothes to fancy candles to fur oil - I would literally buy everything in here if I had endless money. Pricing was reasonable, especially for a prime area in Silverlake. It was such a lovely experience, I'm really looking forward to coming back here. Ask for Alex when you go!

I've been coming to Stark for years. I've always received amazing service but today i left with two completely different looking eyebrows. I asked for them to be cleaned up, keeping the length. Once I was done and looked in the mirror, my eyebrows were short and one was waxed higher than the other. Leaving me with a permanent surprised look. I asked to add a tip to my card charge which my waxer aggressively said she only accepts cash tips or venmo. Which is fine if you have either of those things on you, but I didn't have cash and my phone was dead. I left paying for bad service and a bad experience. I will not be coming back here anymore. The service has plummeted.

Daniela is amazing - not only is she a talented esthetician that gave me the most pain free and meticulous wax (and a gorgeous lash tint) but she is also a sweetheart. I 100% recommend this studio to anyone looking for a one-stop shop for all things beauty.

Just moved to LA from NY and i was so worried about finding someone to wax my eyebrows; i need them done once every 2 weeks lol and Alex was amazing I'm obsessed with my eyebrows. She definitely will be seeing me every 2 weeks The place is also super cute inside i have to behave because i almost started buying things ! Also very clean inside and Alex wore a mask glasses and a face cover

Feel like customer service at the front desk could be a little warmer, friendlier, kinder. Sometimes it feels like we are doing them a favor by shopping there, which doesn't make the customer feel so good. I ended up buying something and spending money, but the exchange during the purchase was pretty cold and actually a bit rude. A little smile, hello and a thank you goes a long way in making someone feel good and want to come back.

I've been seeing Sarah regularly for over six years now. I can't imagine going to anyone else. She does some waxing on my face and eyebrows where the skin is very sensitive, yet I rarely have any kind of breakout after visiting her. She is skilled, professional, and very personable, remembering the details of my life. Stark recently changed their business practices, so now the esthetician's rent their rooms and there is no longer a receptionist desk to make appointments and check in. At first it was weird, but now it is so easy to make my appointments online that I would never go back! I can't recommend Sarah enough, and my years-long loyalty is proof.

I work in Los Feliz so I used to go here during lunch for my brow waxes. First of all, I love the hippie dippie shop thing they have going on in the waiting room -- I'd always look around for at least 10 minutes. More importantly, the techs are so professional. One lady (forgot her name) used to use fake cucumbers under my eyes and it felt so good! Another was super helpful in referring me out for more permanent body hair removal services (what I wanted was something not offered there) and even telling me to check to see if it was covered by my insurance (I would never think to ask because it sounds cosmetic, but it was covered)! The techs aren't consistent across the board, but the shaping here was always good. I go to a place closer to where I live now (west side), but I always recommend Stark in Silver Lake to anyone on the east side!

I think $70 is too expensive for a facewax + brow shaping to begin with. But I was willing to pay for a result that looked fresh and felt smooth (rather than irritated skin). I'd expected the delivery to correspond with the prices. I was disappointed to walk away having brows that looked unfinished (I posted a photo). And she didn't do nostrils, either. It sounds weird, but I was at a nail salon that did waxing, and when they did my nostrils it surprised me, but I loved it. Stark seemed expensive, and incomplete. I mean, my brows didn't look spectacular at all. And $20-25 or something? Twice I've had $5 brows at an assuming thai massage place near Los Feliz that I absolutely loved! It makes no sense paying big dollar for disappointing results. Post note: I got a notification that the picture of my brows I've posted has been taken down, because only images that show the facility are permitted. And that any negativity should just be reflected in the review. Hmmm. Every nail salon on Yelp has photos of people's experiences, both negative and positive. But not Stark. That's something to think about...

I typically never write yelp reviews but I had such a great experience that I needed to share. I have always had a great experience at stark I love the studio it's adorable and comfortable and everyone is always very nice. This time around I went to Heidi for my Brazilian and she was such a perfectionist which is so nice when getting a Brazilian wax. She was very professional, kind, quick and gentle. Got every last hair. HEIDI is the best.

I always drive by this place and finally decided to give it a shot for a good ol' bikini wax. - 1st, they don't have parking, so I had to park blocks away, - 2nd impossible to get anyone on the phone, you're just stuck with the answering robot. - Front of the house was RUDE and unwelcoming. She barely greeted me when i walked in and asked me to sign in on my own in the side area. I said that I had made a reservation & still had to sign in (it's marked "Walk-ing & Sign in), and she answered, so bothered, "LIKE I SAID, YOU SIGN IN!". - Esthetician strolled in late as i was already waiting & scrambled to get the room ready. I was finally in the room 10 min after my appointment time. - Esthetician was polite and nice. I will say that she was gentle, which is mainly why i gave this place 2 stars. I could see some of the wax almost dripping off the wood though as she was chattering. She also kept saying that she won't be able to "get everything" and kept blaming the fact that i'm not a regular waxer. So when she didn't get some obvious bikini line area, i couldn't protest. - As I left, front of the house didn't even say bye. I'm gonna go back to my good ol' European Waxing Center where I'm not treated like garbage.

I have lived in Silverlake for over two years and had no idea this little gem existed! The cutest, best, most professional and clean waxing place that I've ever been to. Alex absolutely killed it. I am dealing with a lot of covid wedding drama and she tinted my brows and made me look beautiful and feel so special! It's the little things that matter most. Highly recommend and ask for Alex!!!

Went with Clarissa for a Brazilian Bikini Wax and she was amazing. The wax she used was gentle - seriously felt nothing - and she was such a joy to be around. Really light bright happy spirit (with gorgeous skin might I add) in a lovely light bright happy room. She even went the extra mile by giving me a little grape seed oil on a cotton pad in case I had any extra leftover wax stick between my cheeks-which I didn't. Yes Stark now has a different system for handling customers-the person waxing now greets you and handles the charge at the end, but I felt that it helped everything go by so much faster than before when you had to wait for the person waxing you to write a note and then tell the women up front what to charge. Great experience all around and I'll be back for sure.

This review is for the wonderful and talented Eryssa- I booked an appointment online (super easy) and didn't request anyone in particular so naturally was a little nervous as I was getting a Brazilian with a new person. I also suffer from eczema and have really reactive skin so any hair removal can be anxiety producing. Eryssa suggested we use hard wax which hardly hurt and she only had to go over once. She's a great conversationalist, fast, thorough, professional and sanitary. In about 17 minutes she says, "All set!" I will for sure be coming back and referring friends. No post redness or irritation and I'm ready to get in a bikini, thanks Eryssa !

I vowed to only Yelp for good, but I gotta speak on this one. I use to come to Stark religiously, when Isabella was working there. As of the past year, I've gone several times and have always left with a bad experience or service. I just got my eyebrows done today and they are both so different and not fitting for my face. Additionally, the service was rough. Sigh. I think for how much you pay here, you should leave feeling happy and satisfied, I wish I could, at least. Probably won't be returning anytime soon.

YES! A waxing place that uses the hard blue wax and is open on SUNDAYS. For those who haven't converted to the hard blue wax way of waxing life - do yourself a favor and give it a try. It's more hygienic than the strips or applicator and results in a noticeably closer wax. Lydia is the bomb - such a sweet lady who does a marvelous job waxing up the *ahem* sensitive parts of your body with minimal pain, pleasant conversation, and no fuss. Parking is never trouble on Sunset. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars, since it is a bit pricey ($60+ for Brazilian) and I know of blue wax places that do it for less, but aren't open on weekends. Overall though, I love this place. Another plus - El 7 Mares is down the street so you can pick yourself up a delicious shrimp taco after your wax!
