"Don’t let Starlight’s Old Town Scottsdale locale deter you. This lowkey barbecue joint is serving up some big flavor. The restaurant has an amazing whisky selection, and the fragrance from its mesquite-smoked meats is guaranteed to lure you in from a block away. The daily specials range from fried catfish to a tender $17 brisket. No matter the day, you won’t be disappointed." - Mcconnell Quinn, Eater Staff

Decent atmosphere with the focal point being their large lit up bar area. Comfortable booth seats and bar stools. Picnic style outside seating as well. Friendly younger staff. Daily specials and an interesting assortment of menu items. I had the fried chicken sandwich with a side of baked Mac n cheese. Everything was cooked very well the chicken breading was perfectly salted and crispy but not too crunchy. The sandwich stayed together until the last bite. Juicy and flavorful but not sloppy. I would not hesitate to order this meal.

Starlite BBQ is the best kept secret in old town Scottsdale. So I’m letting the “cat out of the bag.” This is the best BBQ at a decent price that you will find in this valley. The side fixings are outstanding as well! The jalapeño Mac and cheese is a star. The yummy cornbread arrives at the table in a cast iron skillet. House-made sauces are on the tables—can’t decide which one is my favorite. I just tried the latest side, the crispy green beans with 2 dipping sauces— awesome. Plenty of dining room inside and out, and fun personable servers. If this review makes your mouth water, just wait til you taste the real thing. Starlight BBQ!

Got the sausage sandwich that was good. Fries were also good. I wish our appetizer came out before our main meal, but everything came out all the same time. First world problems, indeed. Cousin who was traveling with me didn't care for the mashed potatoes, said it was lacking flavor and a bit dry. Mac and cheese was alright from my husbands plate, a bit dry. Overall not a bad spot. Decent BBQ sauce options.

One of the very few places here in town that serve BBQ "Beef" Ribs! I've driven past this place 100 times and finally decided to go and give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by that atmosphere, decor, top notice service (very rare lately) and food! This place has excellent smoked BBQ and the side dishes to compliment the food are just as good. They start off by giving you a cornbread dish for the table which is dense and delicious. I ordered the "half rack" which about 4 bones of the beef ribs with a side dish of the Jalapeño cheesy grits. It was only $19. The beef ribs had a slight smokey flavor and it fell right off the bone. The grits was also an excellent compliment to the ribs. Starlight is a quaint restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was attentive, engaging and entertaining keeping all customers happy. This is a must stop in place for food and drinks!

Had a really nice experience eating at Starlite BBQ. The place has a huge patio with lots of seating for large groups. The complimentary cornbread was awesome. The portions were also huge. Fried pickles were stacked high and the Mac N Cheese side was enough to be its own meal! My only negative about this place was the flavor of the pulled pork. It was cooked well but didn’t have a ton of flavor. Thankfully they have four really good sauces which more than made up for it. If you’re looking for a cool little barbecue place then you’ve found it. I’ll definitely be back and look forward to trying more of the large menu.

My cousin was in town from Colorado and he wanted barbecue. My brother looked up this place and suggested we go. I am totally not trying to sound snobby although it will probably come out that way, however, I have to be completely honest. Just so that everybody knows what they’re getting into and where they’re going especially if they’re not familiar with the area. This place is in Scottsdale and we live in Surprise. When we think of Scottsdale, we do think of fancy, expensive, etc. This place was right next to a subway in a grocery store parking lot. Although there were four of us and we all had one alcoholic drink with our dinner, plus one appetizer that we all shared, the bill was surprisingly just $157. So price not too bad. However , the food was not very good at all. Everybody was really nice and the restaurant and bathrooms are clean. But the place is really small and there’s literally one booth that a large family can sit at. Your next choice is to either sit at the small bar or these little tables that they have set up that are half booths and half two chairs. we tried the grilled cauliflower and that was just OK. It was served on a bed of arugula, I believe with some kind of salad dressing, which was odd. My brother and cousin did like their barbecue ribs, but my sister-in-law‘s burger looked pretty sad and my cat fish was horrible. It was super tough and whether I tried to cut it with a knife or pull it apart with my teeth, It was extremely tough, thin and chewy. The collard greens were OK but they were not very hot nor fresh. The corn bread was good but also not fresh and not epic. They gave us one mini cast-iron pan of that for four people, and never offered to bring any more back to the table. Alcoholic drinks were pretty good. I got the sangria and my sister-in-law got a strawberry margarita which they will make it your request. The boys had beers and those seemed to suffice. But all in all when I think of Scottsdale, I do not think of a dive like this , and again I feel really bad saying this because they were very nice over there but I have to be honest. If you’re looking for cheap bar food, for around $40 a person this may be for you, but it was not for me.

The food is incredible. Very satisfying and tasty BBQ. The cocktails are nice too. The atmosphere is very upscale bar-like with large shared picnic tables outside and an actual bar inside. The servers were friendly but not super attentive. One of our ordered dishes never arrived, but we were so full that it didn't matter.
