Starlite BBQ

It was too hot so we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoor patio at this place. Inside highlight is an American style bar with many varieties of alcohols. The food was amazingly delicious, especially the rib steak and surprisingly, the cornbread! We ordered too much for 2 ppl but we don’t regret it since it was an amazing experience to taste different kinds of dishes! The server was very friendly whom we had a nice conversation with! All in all, it’s definitely a gem!

One of the very few places here in town that serve BBQ "Beef" Ribs! I've driven past this place 100 times and finally decided to go and give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by that atmosphere, decor, top notice service (very rare lately) and food! This place has excellent smoked BBQ and the side dishes to compliment the food are just as good. They start off by giving you a cornbread dish for the table which is dense and delicious. I ordered the "half rack" which about 4 bones of the beef ribs with a side dish of the Jalapeño cheesy grits. It was only $19. The beef ribs had a slight smokey flavor and it fell right off the bone. The grits was also an excellent compliment to the ribs. Starlight is a quaint restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was attentive, engaging and entertaining keeping all customers happy. This is a must stop in place for food and drinks!

The cuisine, sauces, beer selection, and petite and cozy location make Starlite one of the best, hidden BBQ bars in the valley. Brenton took great care of us. My son and I will definitely be back!

Had a really nice experience eating at Starlite BBQ. The place has a huge patio with lots of seating for large groups. The complimentary cornbread was awesome. The portions were also huge. Fried pickles were stacked high and the Mac N Cheese side was enough to be its own meal! My only negative about this place was the flavor of the pulled pork. It was cooked well but didn’t have a ton of flavor. Thankfully they have four really good sauces which more than made up for it. If you’re looking for a cool little barbecue place then you’ve found it. I’ll definitely be back and look forward to trying more of the large menu.

Decent atmosphere with the focal point being their large lit up bar area. Comfortable booth seats and bar stools. Picnic style outside seating as well. Friendly younger staff. Daily specials and an interesting assortment of menu items. I had the fried chicken sandwich with a side of baked Mac n cheese. Everything was cooked very well the chicken breading was perfectly salted and crispy but not too crunchy. The sandwich stayed together until the last bite. Juicy and flavorful but not sloppy. I would not hesitate to order this meal.

The food is incredible. Very satisfying and tasty BBQ. The cocktails are nice too. The atmosphere is very upscale bar-like with large shared picnic tables outside and an actual bar inside. The servers were friendly but not super attentive. One of our ordered dishes never arrived, but we were so full that it didn't matter.

BBQ tastes vary and you like what you like...so this BBQ was not for me. It was not bad at all. Food came out hot and fast. Service was good. There are BBQ place in Phoenix area that fit my tastes, but not liked by all. If you would like the top 3, please let me know

The HH pickle chips were my favorite part of the meal. Had the fried catfish. It was spicy not my favorite. Mac and cheese looked pretty but not a fan. The cornbread has too much butter as when you take a bite all you tasted was butter. I would not. The staff was nice and polite.

Food is amazing!! The ribs are super flavorful and basically fall off the bone. The pulled pork and mac and cheese were also delicious! My favorite sauces were the house and Carolina tasting one. It was pretty busy when we came in but still easily got a table for our group.

3.95 stars Tourist review! I wanted Amazing simple soul food-esque bbq but unfortunately my favorite place was closed for Memorial Day weekend so I came here. Pleasantly surprised because when I came in I saw their big bar, heard the country music and saw there was no brisket and other more traditional bbq items on the menu: all things I'm not into. However, Ordered the baby back rib sandwich and was prepared to be disappointed BUT it was really good. The combination of ingredients really paired well with the ribs which were pretty good on their own. My suggestion is to order the sandwich without sauce and then try with the variety of sauces they offer. Side was Mac n cheese with jalapeño which was good, not epic or noteworthy but not bad, my suggestion is to chop up the jalapeños and mix them in instead of leaving them on top. I think if you want some good drinks and good food (not epic soul food bbq) this is a good place!

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant I arrived here around 7:30 PM on a Sunday, which unbeknownst to me was dollar wing night The food was outstanding Spent a little under $100 for 14 wings 3cocktails 3 meals and 1 soda.

Quant little place. Kinda confusing. Is it a bar or a bbq joint? I'm still not sure. What I do know is that AZ is not know for its bbq and this is another example of why. The was a top 7 bbq restaurant on Yelp for Phoenix. Yelp actually claims top 8 but one of those top 8 is permanently closed. Anyways, I started with the cornbread. It came in a quit little skillet. It was more like corn cake, but the worst part was the strange wang I couldn't quite place. Not very exciting. They claimed some kind of maple butter, but I could not taste anything, but butter. Next up was the 1/2 chicken. I was impressed with the crispy skin. The chicken was slightly dry, but not terrible. The flavor was not bad, but nothing to write home about. The sauces were completely underwhelming. The regular was just that, no taste. I didn't care for the house sauce at all. The baked beans were the best part of the main course, but they had the same wang as the corn bread. I had seen the smores on Yelp and had to try it. I found where the wang was coming from. The smores was super fudgy, way more chocolate than gram cracker or marshmallow. Nothing too exciting. I think I would like to see caramel or marshmallow cream or something. The marshmallow wasn't even hot all the way through. It was like a two year old made the desert. Bottom line, when in AZ you probably are better off just sticking to Tacos.

Starlite BBQ has a neighborhood feel and will be a regular fixture for us while in the Scottsdale area. The space isn't large, but it has a cozy bar and a nice patio. They have daily rotating specials, as well as regular happy hour with some cheap snacks and drinks. The chicken and cornbread pancake is plenty to share for two people, as are the rack of baby back ribs. Of the sides and snacks I've had thus far, the pork fries and mac & cheese are at the top of the list. They make some good cocktails and I can say that I've never seen a drink served with a baby back rib as a garnish, but more BBQ places need to adopt that.

Really tasty meatloaf. Every bite had tons of smokey goodness. I feel the dinner portion should be a bigger serving, considering it was so good I wanted more, and the plate was skimpy. Beef ribs were also really good and full of flavor. There are no complaints on that serving size. I also got the Bloody Mary, which was bomb. Decent complimentary cornbread. The server was great. He was attentive and funny.

Stopped by this place as a last minute resort but so glad we did! Our waiter was very friendly. He made sure that we got exactly what we wanted. Despite previous customer complaints we loved the mole espresso sauce! At one point the lights dimmed and the manager came and lit candles at everyone's table.

Got takeout here for my birthday and being gluten free... the fried chicken was so delicious! Fried chicken isn't something I would normally get nor order but after not being able to have it for so long (having celiac's) I opted to try it. So glad I did, it was delicious and crispy. My mom that is also GF tried it and thought it was delicious. Definitely needed some salt though. I'd like to try to hot version to see if it's more flavorful. The mash potatoes were creamy and yummy. Fries were also good. I'd give the meal an overall 7.8 for a takeout meal which is pretty good. I would like to try it at the restaurant and see if it's even better fresh! Will be back regardless

We sat at the bar because all the tables were full and had to wait a really long time for the bartender to bring water and give us menus. It was Sunday so I got the $0.89 wings (6 min) and they were great! Smoked and then fried so they were crisp with no flabby skin and good flavor. Got the Nashville hot sauce on the side, the ranch sauce was less herby than most which was better with the smoke. My better half got half a rack of back ribs which were very tender although he felt they had warmed over flavor which I did not notice when I tasted them. The ribs came with pickled red onions which were very tasty and a nice palate cleanser. We'll come back and give it another try!

Came in during Happy Hour on a Thursday evening and had zero issues being seated. Ordered the pickle chips, which was a lot for just two people, if you have four then it ought to be perfect. We both picked the Jalapeno Grits for a side and really enjoyed them. I had the Brisket plate and it did not suck. Ended up bringing home about half, so note to self for the next time to order the half portion. The Wife ordered the fried chicken and, though she thought it was on the dry side, she also got a take away container for her leftovers. Good stop, glad it worked out to pop in after the photoshoot.

Well this review was for food that I had delivered. I thought the wings only came in 5 pieces so I ordered 2 orders and let me warn you, it's definitely more than 5 I had their house bbq and their Nashville hot. FIRE. Like I want them again but I'm still full lol I had the fried pickles which were crispyish (my delivery ran late through GrubHub not the restaurant's fault) so I want to try them again in person but super flavorful and salty! Also had the cornbread but it wasn't really my thing because it was too sweet but I can see why other people would go crazy for it

The spicy fried chicken that is GLUTEN FREE is the best spicy chicken I've ever had. Someone give the cook a hug ** chefs kiss I don't know how there isn't a line out the door for the gluten free spicy chicken and fries here. Seriously if you haven't eaten here get down there NOW! Their spicy chicken dish had me in tears it was so delicious. The staff was nice enough to let us order our dinner 10 minutes before the kitchen closed and Our dinner was absolutely EPIC 10/10 on their chicken

I love the aesthetic of Starlite BBQ! It has a completely different look for a BBQ establishment from what I'm accustomed to. It's not large in size, but nice and cozy and, the perfect setting to enjoy some bbq. I always enjoy coming here for food. They've definitely changed their menu from the last time I was here, but one thing that remained is their Smoked and fried chicken wings. The wings are very, very good. At my latest visit, I also ordered a drink, Improved Aperol spritz, this was good as well. I haven't tried their ribs yet, as I'm dying to do so! So I'm going to be back real soon to get them.

This is directly to whoever in management changed the menus.... Why? Dead serious question. No grits. No hamburger. No salad...which was the only non meat option on the menu unless you want Mac n Cheese like a 5 year old. Why did you change wings from 99 cents all day on Sunday to just happy hour? We loved coming here for lunch for the wings. Brenden is great though. Good guy. Felt bad he had to keep saying no to the things on the menu we normally come here for. He definitely made up for in in customer service. Better keep him around!! We can find similar places that actually offer options like a large salad plate etc. for someone who doesn't want pork and ribs.

Thought they were open until 10pm without realizing it was Black Friday, so they were only open until 9! We walked in and even though they politely let us know the kitchen closed in 20 minutes, they INSISTED we stay and eat! I expressed that I didn't want to inconvenience them and they said it wasn't a problem at all! Our waitress was super nice and attentive while closing the restaurant! 10/10 service! I thought the food was GREAT! I'd say the Mac and cheese was some of the best I've ever had in a restaurant! My only complaint, was the BBQ baked beans aren't sweet they're savory, but I know that's based on preference! It's also super cute in the restaurant. The bar looks cute, the tables have enough space in between, if we lived in Arizona we'd probably be regulars! Thanks again for being so accommodating!!

Wasn't as pleased as we was hoping to be... Firstly; Service was great- our server was cool and kind and prompt. So it's not his fault. It was the food. Here's the good: Cheese fries, Mac and cheese... tasty. Ribs; better than mids but not the best ever. dry in parts but pleasantly juicy in others... Cornbread; great flavor, even better value. Here's the bad Fried chicken comes as one half of a chicken; was difficult to that way, wasn't advertised that way, they couldn't turn it into a sandwich. Flavor wasn't great. Coleslaw; way too salty. No. Avoid. Beans: under cooked and thin/watery rather than sauce. We might go back a second time now knowing what not to order. Also- ambiance was nice. Tonite I had some time to kill so just came by for a snack and non- alcoholic ginger lemonade. I do love the ribs and also this brisket sandwiches. The shoestring fries with cheese or gravy on the side are yummy. Tonight I had the mashed potatoes. Get some extra gravy! The mixed drinks are amazing, just not partaking in anything but beer these days, if I do at all . Last time I had the Vanilla Porter and loved it ! I love the outdoor patio and it's dog friendly !

Gorgeous and friendly staff!! Say yes to their complimentary cornbread!! The drinks are tasty, the food is delicious. The Baby Back sandwich is piled high and generous I wish I ordered the full order of brisket - it's some of the best I've ever had A toss up between the Starlight BBQ sauce and the House BBQ sauce - could t decide which was better The cole slaw was good too but there was a flavor in it that I couldn't pinpoint that didn't agree with my palate I really like this place!!

Strange service. The food was very good. Great barbecue and coleslaw. The bartender seemed distracted even though it didn't appear to be busy. Finally she came over and took my order. She salted a margarita glass and set it on the bar. She then went to the kitchen and got food and delivered it to other people, poured two beers for other people at the bar and then came back and made my drink. Probably won't be back.

Solid bbq that's very well priced. The ribs were delicious. The fried pickles with lemon aioli was tasty along side our wonderfully delicious old fashioned. It's a small restaurant with both indoor and patio dining options. Our server was excellent. Can't wait to get back next time we're in town.

I have been searching for a great bbq spot since I moved to Scottsdale & I can safely say that I now have a go to! As usual, I ordered way too much food (wanting to try everything) - baby back ribs, pulled pork bbq sandwich & more As if the order wasn't enough, they threw in some baked, buttered cornbread Super friendly staff & a very casual environment. Will be back. (Likely often... lol)

Fantastic BBQ. The pulled pork and meatloaf, yes, meatloaf, is seriously good. Tasty mashed potatoes and legit mac n cheese. No selection of bourbons too. Hidden gem to be sure.

This place is an underrated gem. Is it little miss bbq? No. But no other BBQ place this far from Austin is. However,the staff is awesome, the fried chicken on cornbread pancake is one of the best deals in town, the drinks are great, the brisket was delicious and fit perfectly in their Mac and cheese.... Ribs are great too! This place is 10 steps up from Rudy's or Dicks and a couple steps up from Brian's, Lucille's, Bobby Qs or Honey Bear (of course honeybear isn't Texas smoked style anyhow). Go with confidence you'll be happy you did! Just remember that the chicken and cornbread pancake really serves at least 3....

Update: Had an opportunity to try their banana pudding and it was a hit with the family. This place hit the spot. Highly recommend. Delicious and large portions. Fried chicken sandwich juicy and tasty. Mac and cheese portion is generous. Known for their smoked brisket their 12 hour brisket my husband said is tender and delicious. My daughter ordered the cheeseburger and portion is good for two people. Overall great bbq place

Awesome quaint little place. The beef ribs were amazing as was the chicken sandwich. Great drink selection too. If you like BBQ and cool spot, hit this place up.

Best Beef Ribs around! They have a good happy hour, definitely gotta get the fried pickles. Everything I've had has been delicious, even had a cocktail the last time and it was perfect! Staff is always friendly and helpful. I've always gone right around when they open it's easy to get a seat and not crazy busy. If you love bbq I definitely recommend trying them out, it's definitely difficult to find Beef Ribs in my experience and they have amazing ones.

Great food here with the best complimentary cornbread. Happy Hour and daily specials you can't go wrong. I wanted to order everything off the menu yesterday, but I figured I would just have to go back to try the food I hadn't had before.

This review is for the menu changes. No more burger, salad, grits. Sweet potato. Added a sausage burger & sausage isn't even made in house. No more 99 cent wings all day Sunday.

Portions are huge! We definitely ordered with our eyes here. They had an $0.89 wing special when we sent. We ordered 6 of bbq and 6 of Buffalo. They brought out and charged us for 12 each. Thankfully I love wings so I didn't say anything. The wings were BOMB! Crispy yet tender! The sauces were delicious. The cornbread pancake was my fave! The fires and max and cheese were also good. Unfortunately, that is all I enjoyed out of the food items we ordered. The brisket was so fatty but I personally prefer lean brisket. My meatloaf was mushy, I couldn't get myself to eat it. The ribs were okay. We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks! Loved how the had seasonal options. Felt very festive with their apply cider martini! Service was super fast and they bussed our very full table constantly which we appreciated.

Love this place. Food is so good. Not a complaint but I kinda wish they were a little more friendly. Sometimes I feel they don't want me here. Not good.

Good casual bbq, server was great, the food came out quickly and was pretty good. I wouldn't say "best in the city" but I'd go back. Definitely recommend the corn bread. Outdoor seating was nice with the misters on and had shade cloths up. Would definitely go back

So a disclaimer: this food came via Grubhub, but in a timely manner. Also I'll disclaim that I was extremely hungry, which typically boosts my opinion of how food tastes. I ordered the baby back ribs, shoestring fries and cornbread. I first called the restaurant to ask if they delivered or if I should use Grubhub, and whoever answered the phone was not helpful or particularly polite. I get it might have been a bad day for them but still. So onto the food. In this case, I wasn't really impressed with much. Things might have been (probably) different if I'd eaten at the restaurant, but as it was the fries were kind of plain and bland. The ribs were okay. They were absolutely tender and came right off the bone, but the bbq sauce was uninspiring. Just sweet and sticky and it tasted like it came from a store bought bottle. The cornbread was not good at all. I will 100 percent blame this on the Grubhub delivery method though. I don't think cornbread can survive in the wild. Anyway, not really a great find.

So they overcharged for subpar BBQ off the beaten path on Miller Road in a dying strip center in Old Town and went out of business in 3 years. No big surprise.

This place has been on my list for a while to try and while the service was great, I liked the front of the house better than the back. The fried pickles were great and we started with those. The complimentary cornbread... I don't know if we got a bad batch but it didn't taste like corn at all, in fact it had a bad cooking spray taste. Odd. We ordered ribs, brisket and the chicken sandwich. The sandwich was huge and quite good. The ribs were ok, the brisket was average and had almost a fake smoke taste. We got a few sides, coleslaw was decent, French fries were amazing, and the jalapeño grits were incredibly bland. I make cheesy grits and coleslaw so was hoping to maybe learn something to make mine better. Unfortunately I didn't We do cook a lot and smoke our own meat, so our palates might be pickier than others.

I visited Starlite June 9 and had a great experience. The place is nicely decorated, staff super friendly. My dad ordered the meatloaf and said it reminded of a steak and was really good, he also had the heirloom carrots side. I ordered the brisket and it was cooked perfectly. It felt like cutting through butter and it melted in your mouth. The mac and cheese and fried pickles were as expected. Highly recommend.

Starlite has been on my list of places to try for awhile, so I was really excited to finally try it out. My partner and I ordered a variety of items to try out what they have to offer. Unfortunately we just found the food to be average overall. Cornbread - 3 stars, a bit bland but not terrible. Nice texture. Pickle Chips - 3 stars, crunchy and came with a nice aioli on the side but not sure if I would order again. Baby Back Ribs - 3 stars, I enjoyed the sauce that came with the ribs, but most of my portion was pretty dry and seemingly over cooked. There were a few bites that tasted pretty good, but I was a bit disappointed. Coleslaw - 2 stars, wasn't a fan at all. Smoked Brisket Sandwich - 4 stars, this was the best entree and was a solid choice. Fries - 5 stars, they were excellent. Mac n Cheese - 2 stars, had an odd aftertaste to it. Overall, I'm just not sure if we caught them on an off night or if we just aren't fans.

Decent especially for the area ! PROS: the ribs are really good for AZ & their complimentary corn bread is delicious PLUS they let dogs on their patio CONS: their chicken sandwich is sooo much breading and because it's the thigh a lot of it is not juicy white meat. Also, their Mac n' cheese is super dry and always stuck to the bottom of skillet I've ordered it twice - asked for extra sauce to fix it and they said not possible it's all pre plated and prepared.

My wife and I visited this place as I am in search of the best baby back ribs on the planet. I didn't find them here. We arrived right when they opened, at 4:00p, on a Friday night. We walked through their mister-cooled patio to their dining room, which is tiny. Sadly, except for an exceptionally large booth, all the seating inside is at the bar or high-top tables; my wife has mobility issues so getting into the seats can be a problem. Once in the seats, they were comfortable, but there is no ADA-friendly seating inside. And there is NOT much seating inside. If you arrive during a busy time you should plan on taking out or eating at some of the picnic bench seating on the outdoor patio. Even with the misters, this can be a challenge in the metro-area's heat, especially in the evening since this patio is on the west side of the building. Brad was our greeter and server, and he was awesome. He was helpful, attentive, and pleasant. Since there were literally only three other customers in the restaurant when we were there, that may have accounted for the excellent service, but still, it was excellent. We were brought a complementary serving of cornbread. It was delicious. We ordered the baked sweet potato appetizer (although we had it brought out with our meal). My wife ordered the pulled pork (not the sandwich, and with garlic mashed potatoes as the included side). I ordered a half-rack of baby back ribs (with shoestring fries as the side). The baked sweet potato was a generous portion with (happily) lots of butter on the side, was very good, and we didn't finish it so we brought the uneaten portion home with us. The pulled pork was tender, but lacked flavor. The baby back ribs were good, but not great. The garlic mashed potatoes were sadly a bit "meh." The small portion of shoestring fries was delicious. So, in summary, the food was okay to good, but not great. The service was awesome. We're not UNhappy, but we will likely not be returning.

We were looking for a bbq restaurant and picked this restaurant. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich and the coleslaw. The plate come out looking delicious. This was a disappointment. The meatloaf sandwich wasn't very good. The brioche bun was a little tough. The meatloaf didn't have much flavor and the coleslaw also didn't impresse me. Others in my party felt the same way about different items off the menu.

Wonderful service and great food! The staff was super pleasant and asked many times if we were okay. The Mac and cheese is fire! Would definitely return to try some new items!

This place seems like a hidden gem because after driving by so many times, it never occurred to me to give this place a try. That is, until we were in search for good BBQ. The restaurant has a bar style feel, the service is great, and the food is even better. Their ribs were phenomenal and I can't wait to be back!

Just wanted to leave review that this was probably our favorite place to eat and are SO sad that it's closed and so abruptly. We loved supporting this place, truly lovely people who worked there, best ribs EVER and hope you will be back.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND ORDERING DELIVERY Brendan, I'm still waiting for my refund for the inedible ribs & flavorless mac&cheese I ordered through Postmates on Sunday night. I would like to come in person to collect the full amount now including the tip. The delivery person is the only one in this transaction worthy of a payment. I had to throw the entire order in the trash and even my dog wasn't interested in one of the bones. In addition, your delivery order packaging isn't safe for the public and leave customers vulnerable to a number of potential health/safety risks. Sending off your delivery orders with a 3rd party with an open plastic bag in a flimsy top opening box with open sides is negligent. I regret having to write this unfortunate review because I really liked my in person experience on Mother's Day but your handling of my delivery order, the lack of food quality and the extreme food safety issues has left a very negative impression.

Great spot for BBQ and drinks. Friendly and professional service To go was also easy. On time and packed nicely . The layout is modern with a great vibe.

I like Starlight Barbecue. It's a neighborhood go-to. Wing special on Sunday (i think) and the Jalapeno Margarita is super duper tasty. As well, the Manager is ethical when faced with criticism.

I'll be honest I was disappointed with my meal. I had the brisket special with the mac and cheese. While the brisket had a good taste it was a bit dry and very chewy. I had to cut it into small pieces with a knife just to eat it. The mac and cheese was spiced up with bacon and jalapeños. All that I could taste was raw jalapeños and I really wasn't impressed. The staff were really pleasant! I enjoyed talking and cutting up with them. They were very attentive and accommodating. I might give them another chance just because of the staff. And I'll try something different from the menu.

The restaurant is far too small as restaurants go but it intends to be a great bar with great drinks and great food. I felt lucky to eat here. If my next meal is consistent with the ones we just had I will be hooked.
