Google
Great location in Downtown Charlottesville. Lots of food options adjacent and a great place for families to hang out. Tried almost all of their beers and really fell in love with the Virginia Peaches and the Sun Burn, summer wheat ale. Definitely a place you could hang out all day and chill.

This is a nice and quiet brewery... when we were there at least. They had a good selection and the staff was friendly. They are located in the Dairy Market in Charlottesville which is a cool location to go to as well. They are kid friendly.

Great beer selection. I got the Groove Tangerine and chilled on the outdoor patio. Super refreshing spot to hang out.

We are making rounds of the breweries in Charlottesville and stopped at Starr Hill Downtown today. Love the vibe both inside and out. Plenty of sitting, and an eclectic board with fun options. Today it was warm so wanted something bright, chose the Mojito Sour. Tasty! Partner enjoyed his as well. Plenty of food options. Smart to locate near restaurants.

Really happy to have visited. Parking is plenty across the street and free for the first hour, at least on Saturday, then $2.75 an hour. Tap room is nice and spacious with great beers on tap and kombucha in bottles. Great shaded patio. What I found more convenient was the Dairy Market that is attached and easily accessible with an excellent and very affordable display of food options for all tastes.

It's good to have Starr Hill back in Charlottesville. I remember going when they were located on West Main. Now they have a new location inside the Dairy Market. They just opened this location yesterday. Nice selection on tap, crowlers available, and a refrigerated to go section. Bartenders allowed us to sample a few things as they had at least 4 variants of the chocolate stout on draft. We ended up selecting Ramble On and the Irish Red. The stouts were good, but we selected beers that paired well with our lunches. It's definitely going to thrive in the Dairy Market, as it's nice to enjoy lunch with a beer.

Good selection of brews in a great location. My good friend drove down from Leesburg while I'm in CVille for a last minute meeting and this is where he wanted to go. Didn't dissapoint. 3 pints later and I'm all about their Snow Blind doppelbock lager. Nice and malty. My buddy, on the other side, enjoyed the Guitar Pick IPA. We also got burgers from one of the restaurants in that Dairy Market area, but that's another review.

After moving out of town, Starr Hill returns to a place not far from its namesake. Still has beer of wildly varying quality, but there's enough variety that one can probably find something one likes. This location is newly renovated and looks great.

Yelp
Great place for happy hour. Lots of seating both inside and outside this location in Dairy Market; good for groups. I love that there is such a wide variety of beers available. The Ice Cream (Sherbert Sour Ale) is my favorite, but I love that they have rotating seasonal flavors (I have my eye on the PSL stout). Staff are friendly and service is quick.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for trivia night on Wednesday. It starts at 7pm but we got there around 6:30pm to grab tables but definitely need to go way in advanced for reserve. There's not much seating in the front and the seating outside of the place in the Dairy Market you can't bring alcohol. Fortunately a family left and we got one of the long tables in the back. There's games back there which is great for kids. They have beer, cider, wine, and hard seltzers. It was hard to hear some of the questions and we wish they repeated all the questions at the end but overall good time. Cool place. There's outdoor seating as well.

Yelp
This is an incredible location at the dairy market in Charlottesville, Virginia. You can grab food from one of the many vendors and the food court and bring your food to the bar and enjoy a Starhill beer. I was pleasantly surprised to find a West Coast IPA on their menu, which I always fall in love with. Every bartender I've ever come in contact with at Star Hill is always so helpful and friendly. This brewery should always be on your must stop list when traveling to or through Charlottesville.

Yelp
Lots of seating inside and outside. Had the Hazy IPA since they said it was a best selling beer. I tend to agree. More dank than juicy which I prefer. Worth returning for more tastes.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere and great assortment of beers. Thank you for being a brewery that actually offered sours!!

Yelp
In the area and wanted to try a few local breweries and hit this place up to give it a whirl. It's attached to the dairy market and you can bring in all of the food from the different vendors there. Lots of seating and my husband enjoyed the beer he tried. Nice service and lots of seating with high tops, tables and benches, as well as seating at the bar. Great place to grab a beer and eat some food from any of the food stalls within the dairy market.

Yelp
Starr Hill is the glue to the Dairy Market. It helps bring everyone together. When ordered our food we go in different directions but Starr Hill brings us together every time. It doesn't matter if you want indoor seating or outdoor seating, live music or catching the game Starr Hill has something for you. Ramble On is my typical go-to, but if they have their Tripel on tap it has my full attention. As the weather warms up they host live music out on the patio. Nice to sit back, enjoy a beer, and listen to music outside downtown. Parking is in a paid lot next door (free for first hour). Dogs are welcome outside (with dog bowls), but not inside. They have tables specifically marked for Starr Hill. Just know that if you don't have something from Starr Hill they might ask you to move to a non-Starr Hill table.

Yelp
Alright Starr Hill, you have make me and my sour-loving friends very happy. They have some amazing options on draft right now, so if you are a fan of smoothie beers get a pint of the X-HAALT: one of the better smoother sours I've tried and it's 9%! The Peach Love was also incredible, and had a strong peachy flavor that perfectly complemented the wheat beer base.

Yelp
So many more fun offerings than what you find in stores. We've been to a couple locations and they all have their own vibe. The one in Tysons is especially cool as it is on a rooftop! I do love the Crozet location as well though. There is usually a great food truck during the weekends.

Yelp
Great spot in Charlottesville! Plenty of tables inside and a huge outside area as well. Many beers to choose from plus some spiked seltzers. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Great addition to C'ville! Since the original Starr Hill is a bit of a drive from the city itself it's great to have a location closer. They have a huge selection of their beers, always bringing in new variety and keeping the flights interesting. The atmosphere is great as well, they have a huge seating section that takes up a big chunk of the Dairy Market. You can bring food from the other vendors in so it's a great place to eat and sample beers at the same time. They've started introducing live music some nights and I hope to see even more!

L M.

Yelp
This place is just okay, the beer is average. Feel like there's a lot of better places to go. Inside is clean though and attached to the market. Dog friendly

Yelp
Had not been there before. Went on the recommendation of our son. Beer was terrific and the service was great. Will return next time back.

Yelp
Dairy Market would not be the same without Starr Hill. They have awesome bartenders, a selection of weekly events, live music, outdoor seating (dog friendly patio!), plenty of TVs, and not to mention a wide range of beers to satisfy all palates.

Yelp
Located now in Charlottesville proper (ironically in the same spot another brewery used to be) inside the dairy market. Great to be able to sample all the beers and have a great selection of food to take into the space (though the beer has to stay inside the brewery boundaries). It looks like they are even going to do some small batch brewing onsite which is a neat feature. Star Hill has a great selection of beers and there is something on there for everyone, from the bitterest of IPA lovers to the sourest of the sours to the deep coffee/malt of the stouts.

Yelp
Great place to get drinks outside in Charlottesville! I visited Starr Hill Brewery on a pleasant Sunday afternoon. There is a good amount of outdoor seating and the music is played from the speakers at reasonably low levels. I was worried that it would be too loud because this location is near a busy street, but my fears were unfounded. I tried a stout and an IPA both of which I had not drank before and I enjoyed each beer. I will definitely be back and I would recommend this location to all beer lovers in Charlottesville.

Yelp
Stop 1 on our Preston brewery crawl was at start hill! What's great about Starr hill is the patio seating, but they have a large indoor space as well. If you get hungry there is plenty of food options since it's located in the dairy market. My friends and I tried the Roxanne (great for people who aren't beer fans) and I tried the apricot IPA. There was a margarita gose that was not a hit, but at the same time you have to be a special kind of beer drinker to prefer gose. ANYWAYS check out the cool pics :) it was a fun vibe.
google avatar

Natasha E.

Yelp
We love the environment and the beer!! The Roxanne is my favorite! The staff is wonderful and trivia night on Wednesday's at the Cville location is a blast!! Regan is a great bartender, fun personality and wonderful recommendations!

Yelp
Excellent beer and setting. We were visiting the area and looking for a brewery to pass a bit of time in the late afternoon, and we are soo glad we came upon this brewery. Loved it.

Yelp
This is an awesome place with lots of room to enjoy an awesome flight of really interesting varieties of IPAs, sours, and other beers. There is also a great variety of options of food choices within walking distance. A perfect storm!

Yelp
Went to the first annual Winter Beer festival hosted by Star Hill. It was an absolute waste of money, $50 a ticket is a scam. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Everyone was crammed into some small place in the basement of the building. The entire event had the feel like it was the first time someone had planned anything. Not nearly enough food, the food was gone as soon as it came out. It was like they planned on only having 25 people there.

Yelp
I love this place, sitting outside was great. Bartender was really nice. Good atmosphere and beer range/quality. Thanks Starr Hill!

Joel H.

Yelp
Always get prompt and friendly service at the new Star Hill Brewery location in the Dairy Market. My wife and I went there to enjoy a beer with lunch this past Saturday, and were super happy to see they had also installed some covering to the outside seating! It made it comfortable to eat outside during lunch even on a super hot summer day. Who is the genius who came up with that idea? I'd say he (or she) deserves a beer in the shade they provided, and a raise!
