We had the ahi tuna salad. It was excellent and so was our waiter :) Great place to hang on the outside patio for lunch, brunch or just a drink with friends. Great neighborhood place with a great vibe!

Our Waitor Chris from Long Island CA recommended Venison Meatloaf and the Filet Mignon along with the Brownie all deliciously amazing!!! Will definitely be back!

Ive been 3 times now and each experience was great. Sat at the bar each time. Nick was the bartender and he's great! My friends and I had brunch last Sunday and it was absolutely delicious! Ive also been in the evening for a delicious charcuterie board and wine. It was wonderful. The vibe is young, energetic, and fresh. I really enjoy this place.

The food here is holding this place back. All of the food was just okay. Nothing spectacular. I won’t return here based on the food alone. The drinks were tasty and the service was good too. We had the white pizza it was 6/10. We had the crab crusted salmon. It tasted like it had been sitting out and then over seasoned to cover the taste. I also had the meatballs. They were the best thing we had. And we had the ahi tuna with salad. 7/10.

Nice restaurant in Uptown with a nice happy hour and good appetizers. We loved their beef skewers, and I had their tortilla soup with tasted great. Nice stop in Uptown!

Seriously so glad i picked this place to have brunch. Had the steak and eggs with chimchurri. It was beautiful to look at and tasted oh so yummy. The side of purple potatoes with bacon bits and peppers was oh so yummy. And that lemonade. Mmm mm 😋 Definitely want to eat at it again next time I'm in town.

How can you ruin Easter Sunday? Make reservations at State and Allen. Let's start by saying this is our first time and we were so excited about visiting for brunch. Party of 3. We promptly sat at our table and ordered within 5 minutes. What did we order? S+A Omelette, Eggs Bacon and Toast, and Chicken and Waffles. 1 hour later no food on a rather simple order. My 14 year old son was left wondering if it was racism since other non black patrons came after us but had already received their food. I really hope this was not the case but when I tell you I wish we could get that hour back. The restaurant wasn't extremely pack so we were left confused as to the why. Disappointed is an understatement.

This place is in on a corner of a very lively location of State Thomas which is cool because you get to see many people walk by and run into friends you have in the neighborhood! Their food is good enough won't blow your socks off but at a good price. I have never had bad service here and they are always running some kind of special so be sure to ask!

The salad with blackened chicken was SOOO good! It was spicy and perfectly balanced with Caesar salad dressing! Not too much and not too little! The service is great and they keep the doors open if weather permits so you can get a great breeze whisky enjoying your food. The place is really nice and quaint as well and in a beautiful neighborhood !

Came here for Super Bowl! Got great seating and service was quick. However we got a side of fries and it was legitimately 8 pieces and the smallest portion I've ever seen. I feel like a description would have been beneficial in this case.

This place has a lot going for it in terms of ambiance. The interior is a little industrial, but still very relaxed and comfortable. The restaurant has a fantastic patio and boasts a large interior with plenty of seating. The surrounding area is a beautiful neighborhood, which adds the overall appealing nature of the space. It's the kind of dining space where you want to hang out and enjoy a leisurely meal. Unfortunately, the service and food didn't live up to the setting. Our server clearly didn't want to be there and very rarely checked in on us, which made us feel unwelcome and neglected. The Grilled Brie and Cheese, a dish I was looking forward to, turned out to be almost flavorless. It was a major letdown and didn't match the expectations set by the lovely atmosphere. State and Allen has great potential, but the service and food need significant improvement to make it worth a visit.

State & Allen. What an experience. The food was fantastic. I went with my wife and in-laws after church for brunch and we had a wonderful time. My father in law had the steak and eggs, my mother in love and wife had the turkey burger and I had the steak sandwich. All courses served exceeded our expectations. So much so, that we ask to see the head chef, John to thank him in person. Hunter was our server and he guided us in our decisions to choose the best menu options for brunch. He was attentive, funny and kind. If you are in Dallas and looking for a good brunch spot, this is it. We were able to watch the NFL game while we were waiting on our food. The atmosphere had a relaxed and cool vibe to it.

I absolutely adore State & Allen. I order GLUTEN FREE fried chicken (almost) everyday, and it is made to perfection. Big thank you to Manager Nick and bartender Tyler who go above and beyond to connect with me personally and remember specificities about my order. It makes you feel extremely cared about and special when someone who deals with of hundreds of people a week goes the extra mile for you. So thank you!! (Nick) The food is delicious, and I love going on a Sunday after church. Thank you again for the exceptional service.

TERRIBLE service here.... The only person that was worth a damn was the nice girl who BUSSED her table she was sitting.... She was the HOST having to do that. Ridiculous. The waiter.... You sucked. You forgot three people's drinks and kept standing in back of people while they signed their checks like you were trying to see what the tip was.... We will never be back here.... Plastic spoons because apparently they couldn't wash anymore? Wtf? Took us 20 mins to get seated because no busters were helping the host. Stay away from this garbage place. The clientele are super nice but DO BETTER STATE AND ALLEN

A nice patio for a brunch! Came here for a group brunch, which ended up being a very great outside experience with great food to match.

Great response from management (sarcasm). Most businesses want to know what they can do better or offer a word about why service was terrible that day & the previous time. But this response tells me everything I need to know about how much you guys care about customer service.

I have been here several times and have had a lot of great experiences. So many gluten free options! Just ask your server for gluten free because it's not on the menu. My one complaint is that when you're ordering online for take out orders they add $1.5 - $.50 for gluten free even if the meal doesn't require anything extra to be gluten free - not sure what this is about. I also love that they are environmentally friendly. Their takeout containers and reusable and recyclable.

Delicious food on the expanded Brunch Menu. Service was excellent and the outdoor seating was very comfortable. Perfect Saturday AM brunch.

Went here for lunch on a Sunday so they had both a brunch menu and dinner menu. I had a pizza and it was very good and the food came super fast. However after that everything went downhill. Our server didn't check on us for 40 minutes while we watched the tables next to us sit down, order drinks, order food, and get served food after repeatedly trying to get anyone's attention. Additionally my partner had the strawberry mango salad and the lettuce was wilted and the avocado (which was an additional 2.5 dollars) was brown. None of the poor experience we received was ever acknowledged. The waiter tried to be funny after all of this but after that service we were not in the mood. Had really high expectations early on but was unfortunately disappointed by the end.

So you know that one friend? The one you love hanging out with, but they're always flaking on you? Yet you still continue to get excited every time you make plans, only to be left disappointed? That's basically how I feel about State & Allen. After a hard week of being poors, my boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. Order out from a good place, grab a bottle of gas station wine and chill out on the couch. We decided on S&A because I had a craving for their crab dip. Since my boyfriend and I are both hermits, we always order out. Our last time ordering from S&A was months ago, and was a mess. I'm pretty sure they put the wrong ticket on the bag because our order was completely wrong. Nonetheless, the food here is actually good so we decided to let bygones be bygones and used our hunger to decide to order at S&A. I might have understated my boyfriends hunger because he treated to an extra salad so I didn't have to make lunch for tomorrow (I'm a lucky girl, I know) as well as the brownie dessert as a special surprise. When I went in to pick up the order, I wasn't aware of the additional food. So when the gentlemen who helped me handed me one bag, i accepted it and walked out. It wasn't until we got back that we realized half the order was missing. So we left the first bag, got back in the car and headed back. I want to clarify I'm not blaming the server who helped me - these things happen. He made an honest mistake, the same one I did, of only grabbing one bag. He was very pleasant and helpful. The BIGGER problem is my boyfriends sandwich had bacon on it, when the instructions said to put it on the side. For personal / religious reasons, my boyfriend doesn't eat bacon. He has no desire to eat anything that's been touched by it. I'm a pescatarian so I couldn't eat it. We got it on the side because, as aforementioned, we're poors who wanted our moneys worth and planned to treat my dog. We were already home again by the time I had the thought to check the order when I realized, so we just called it quits on S&A. Only by the time we got back the second time, my dog had gotten into the first bag and ate three containers of honey mustard. Which is toxic to dogs. A couple of hours and hundreds of unexpected bucks later, our food was cold but dog was safe. I'm not blaming S&A for the events of our evening, but for the butterfly effect to occur there needs to be that initial flap of the wings. I wish they were diligent and checked the ticket to make sure we got the full order. I wish S&A could figure out their organization, because it's a consistent experience of something being wrong when you go there. I wish I didn't love their crab dip, because it's time I end my food love affair with this place.

Went here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Food was good. We ordered the SK Omelet, chicken and waffles and the apple pie pancakes. The omelet was my favorite! Wasn't a fan of the apple pie pancakes. Service was good.

The ambiance here is great- relaxing, inviting, spacious. The weather was nice so there was a lot of fresh air coming through. The calamari was good but the peppers were placed on top so some of the calamari was soggy. The sweet potato fries were cold so I sent them back and got elote. Theirs is my favorite take on non-traditional elote. It was also spicy, in a good way. The burgers were surprisingly flavorless, even after adding some salt and pepper, things weren't much better. They have a nice selection of drinks and several TVs to watch games. I liked the atmosphere but wouldn't return for the food.

Came here on a Saturday in Dallas. Street parking was very hard to find. We made a reservation, so we didn't have to wait to be seated when we arrived. Crab dip was hot and fresh! Highly recommend! My friend's burger was delicious. Meat was cooked just right. I tried the bacon and brei grilled cheese. My sweet potato fries were crispy and full of flavor, but the sandwich was a let down. Service was good. I got a pizza to go. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth the price either. So far, food items here are either a hit or miss, but still really enjoyed our time here.

Great Service. Food cooked well- eggs and potatoes could have used a little more seasoning. My friend tried the bread pudding and said it was delicious. Great spot for weekend brunch with patio seating avaliable.

The atmosphere was cool and enjoyable but the service was terrible. The waitstaff is indifferent,inconsiderate, and rude. Our server would disappear for 25 minutes at a time. Overall unpleasant experience and will not be returning. The food was pretty good overall but the calami was overran with vegetables. Further into the meal I am having to update this. This restaurant is horrible. The waitstaff especially. A member of our party specifically said no cheese as he is allergic and they brought cheese out on his burger, then when the server went to take it back instead of taking the side salad off the plate the server grabbed the burger with both of his hands. I served tables for 6 years and have never once seen a server do that. Absolutely mind blowing. Without asking if people were finished with their food the server grabbed the plates. I have never seen a server and waitstaff behave like this.

So glad to have found this place! Very nice and comfortable restaurant in a charming neighborhood. Well made cocktails and as a bonus they have Peticolas best beer on tap: Golden Opportunity (kolsh). Had the cheese steak sandwich and it was delicious. Nick and the crew provided excellent service. We will be back!

The food is great here. I had really good service from our server Tori. She was very nice. I got the steak and eggs and I loved the eggs! They were really seasoned. They had a green sauce to go on the steak and I loved it. The ambiance is nice. Wasn't a lot of people during the brunch hours. I would definitely recommend and come back.

Two stars only because our waitress was so sweet. Main complaints: the hostess was quite rude - there was a seat yourself sign (she was outside) so we sat ourselves. She came in and saw us and asked if we had a reservation (the restaurant was almost empty) and asked us to come back to the hostess desk and was visibly annoyed that we sat ourselves - I said the sign says seat yourself. She said "Oh!" and quickly changed it to the one that says "please wait to be seated" but did not apologize and instead rolled her eyes at us. The table was very sticky. There was a hair in my food - the waitress apologized profusely and they remade the food and did not charge us for this dish. Overall, it was handled very very well, but in combination with the rude hostess, it was a less than ideal brunch experience. Overall, the food was fine. Nothing amazing, pretty average. The sweet potato fries were good but the rest was pretty average. Food was expensive for the quality - $18 for the turkey burger. Again, the waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. The overall restaurant is cute with string lights and there is ample outdoor patio seating with cute lighting as well. Plenty of seating and relatively empty for a Saturday afternoon, so there was no wait. Overall, wouldn't go back.

The vibe is very neighborhood bar'ish but more importantly the food was good. The selection of wine and beer was good and the pizza and chicken fingers were delicious. I will definitely return because it's walking distance from my house. Oh an the service was busy but still friendly which is always a plus. Oh and I have to say I ordered a Caesar salad that came to the table naked and when I asked for dressing I got ranch

My friends and I came from brunch and had a great time. We were originally seated outside, but due to the temperature we were slightly uncomfortable. Our waitress Cassie was so sweet and accommodating and was able to move our party inside. Several people in my party had special requests for their meals and every single request was met. I recommend the crab cakes and eggs! The chipotle Mayo for the crab cakes was delicious. Overall, parking is conveniently located in the garage, the staff is friendly, and the ambiance is perfect. I'm sure we'll be back soon.

My first visit to State & Allen, I ordered the calamari and margarita both were phenomenal. My server Landyn recommended both items and I am extremely satisfied with the service. Definitely will return with my colleagues so we can have a great hospitality experience. THANK YOU!

Had a beautiful experience while dining at State & Allen for brunch. The food was good and the service was even better. I had the steak and eggs (substituted the eggs for breakfast potatoes) and it was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was prompt, friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back to visit.

Let me start by saying this used to be one of our favorite local spots to come, especially on Mondays for their half price pizza special. Unfortunately, the service has gone significantly downhill the last few months with what appears to be an almost complete staff turnover. Hoping to give this place another chance in the coming months but there's some serious kinks to work out.

I went on a date to Staten Island on Saturday afternoon. They had a great brunch menu. We ordered the whole pork huevos rancheros, and a screwdriver. We sat outside on the patio it was beautiful. Our server was attentive, and GREAT his name was Trey would come back. The pork was tender the sauce was great and mind and the egg was cooked perfectly.

Probably the worst service experience I've had at a restaurant. Waiter was rude and then after we ordered food they asked us to move tables because there was "a reservation". Why did they say sit anywhere you like and why did no one sit at the table after we moved? The table we moved to was crammed in the back corner and wobbly. Won't be back

Unbeatable atmosphere and friendly employees. Took my parents here during the eclipse. The food is alright. Some dishes are mediocre but pizza and burgers are pretty good.

Wow. Everything from food, to drinks, to service were great. We had reservations for brunch and were promptly seated. Definitely will come back. My one complaint is they have no kids menu. Please get a kids menu even if it only has 3-4 items on it.

My friend and I were looking for a brunch spot and decided to go to State & Allen. I'm glad we did because it was a good choice. We initially were sat outside in under the blazing sun but Cassie, our server, ended up working things out so that we could move inside. Thank God for her. She was amazing throughout our meal. We had a number of adjustments to our order and she was able to deliver and she did it with a smile on her face. She really took care of us. We all enjoyed our meals. Everything was delicious especially the mimosas. I would definitely recommend this place for anybody who is looking for a good brunch option. 10 out of 10

Wonderful brunch! Cute place to sit outside that had yummy brunch options!! Everything looks so good. The chicken and waffles were the best. Typically with most places one is lacking but here the chicken was so tasty and the waffle was perfect and fluffy. A dish with avocado and pulled pork looked amazing!! This is a redo!

Had a great time with great friends grabbing a cocktail and a bite before the Madonna concert. Staff and management were very attentive and the food was great. Couple pizzas, calamari and salad. I've been there a couple of times before. This is a great place to go hang out with friends and meet the locals. Everyone of the locals that I have met there have been very friendly and inviting. ​

This place is good. I went on a Saturday and the next day was Father's Day so I took my husband. It was good. The seafood dip is by far the best thing ever. I loved it. Please make reservations if you go though. I saw people being turned away or having a long wait.

My daughter lives near this restaurant. When you walk in it feels like a great college bar/restaurant or cozy fun place to hang out. Low key, but good food. I love their turkey burger with sweet potato fries fixed to crispy perfection. My daughter had the buffalo chicken bowl with lots of yummy ingredients. Good pizzas, sandwiches, soups & brunch served Sat & Sun. Signature cocktails, beer & wine choices everyone will enjoy. Kaitlin was so sweet & a joy to talk to. She made our dinner special and so worth the drive from Frisco. You will not be disappointed so head down to this unique chill environment after a long day, wkend brunch or date night!!
