State Theatre

I had the chance to visit the State Theater for the first time to see Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, author of Malcolm Lives, during the Texas Book Festival. I truly admire his courage and wisdom. This was an absolutely beautiful event thank you for holding such an important space.

Fun night listening to CSNY covers. Wonderful venue with great peeps working there. Definitely recommend!

April 2024 The Stateside is the smaller theatre of the Paramount showcasing small productions in a theatre resembling an old fashioned single movie cinema house. Even with its smaller size it still fits a lot of people and great view of the stage. There are single gender neutral restrooms and a small bar in the lobby. It has stadium seating and cushy chairs. The place has character but not as extravagant as the Paramount Theatre. I was here for the ATX TV Festival Season 13 for the Interview with the Vampire: Season 2 Screening and Hacks: Season 3 Finale Screening. The sound was not the best but fine with me. This venue requires a clear bag and no drinks or food allowed inside. Parking can be found in the nearby parking garages or valet your vehicle next door either at the Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin or Stephen F. Austin Royal Sonesta Hotel.

Went and saw Boney James at the Paramount in Austin Texas. Besides being an outstanding show, the venue was gorgeous. Just a beautiful old theater that is in very good condition. If you're ever in Austin check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Really neat theater! The sign outside is one of the best parts. It looks really cool at night, and the building has a lot of history.

Great venue, and the seats are comfortable. Bringing glamour, pizazz, and a large audience to locally produced art is important. Stateside does those things, and does them best. Connected to the Paramount and perhaps overshadowed by it, Stateside regularly hosts Austin's own B. Iden Payne awards, essentially the local Tony's. As if playing host to the top theatrical accolade In Austin didn't tell you, this place is very expensive, unfortunately. That doesn't make it a bad bet though. Because it's always possible for something to be overpriced and still be stunning - or even over priced and worth it - and an evening at the Stateside does not disappoint. With drinks in the $8 - $12 dollar range, the superior quality of your drunkenness will hopefully make you feel better about all that money you're spending. The high proscenium arch tickles a sense of awe in the theatre, but the venue is still surprisingly intimate for a space so large. Truly great place, and an important part of local art and history. Would absolutely come again.
