So, I woke up this morning with a hankering for a danish, a kolache and an iced coffee. Long story short, I stumbled across this establishment that i had assumed could cater to my very specific requests.
I walked up to the counter and the attendant was very cheerful and nice as i ordered a cheese danish, a strawberry and cheese danish, a pimento and bbq brisket kolache and an iced mocha frappe. My total was in the neighborhood of $16.
I waited a quick 5 minutes for my order to arrive and upon arrival i was immediately underwhelmed. The cheese and strawberry danish were good, not $4 each good. Soggy loafs of hollowed out puff pastry filled with jam and cream cheese, freshly microwaved that morning! But the pimento and bbq brisket kolache... it tasted way better than it looked. Again, freshly microwaved and resembling a newborn Benjamin Button. It had a good combination of flavors that almost saved breakfast...
But sadly, the coup de gras was the appearance of the mocha frappe. It looked like something i could have just as easily made from yesterdays old coffee in a blender with ice. It was very "plain" for the $5.30 pricetag.
Ultimately and very sadly, i think the only way id patron this local establishment again is by accident.
