I heard about the Pele's Fire sandwich from this place and stopped by to see if it lived up to expectations on the heat. It comes piled high with quality lean roast beef, along with mozzarella cheese, lettuce, and tomato, and it is also slathered with their signature Ghost Pepper Sauce which they claim “should make the Hawaiian Goddess proud”.
Their fresh bread is definitely one of the stars of this sandwich, soft and yeasty with a pillowy interior and a homemade taste. But the Ghost Pepper Sauce is what I came for and it delivers on the heat.
There is a nice tang from the Ghost Pepper sauce along with a good creaminess, a little bit of sweetness, and a peppery kick. And that burn hits right away! After the first bite, my mouth was on fire, and I wondered if I would be able to finish the sandwich. But I made it all the way through and I enjoyed it! I would put this above Fiery on my scale and creeping towards Insane, and this is for series spice lovers only.
On a separate occasion, I tried the Turkey Chupacabra sandwich which is kicked up with a habanero-based sauce. That is a heck of a good turkey sammie and I would put it at Hot on my scale or maybe a bit higher. Consider it a warmup for the Pele's Fire, and if you can successfully tackle the Chupacabra you are ready for the next level.
Just a note that this place gets really busy about noon and there is not a whole lot of parking, so plan your trip accordingly. But if you are looking for some heat, this is a good destination.
