The 22 Best San Antonio Restaurants

"This King William sandwich shop harkens back to the days before restaurants required interior designers with its oilcloth-covered tables and scattershot string lights. The menu allows for salads, pizza, and clamshell-packaged desserts, but the sandwiches draw the longest lines. As with the decor, the sandwich menu pays little mind to the rules. The muffuletta swaps provolone for sharp cheddar cheese, and the Reuben packs its caraway flavor in the sauce instead of the bread. Takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor dine-in areas." - Brandon Watson

I have lived in the area for many years and always wondered about this place that I never seemed to see be open. They are only open for lunch time on weekdays, so how could a business survive like that? Amazing sandwiches, that’s how. I visited this place for the first time recently and was shocked by the bustling business on the inside. At 12:30 I was easily the 20th person in line and the majority of the many tables were full! It’s a large space, though it doesn’t look like it from the outside - with plenty of indoor seating. If you want to sit outside, you can sit outside the taproom in the front! The menu is large and has toasted, spicy, and cold sandwiches in addition to pizzas and salads! The sandwich I had was incredible in taste, size, price, and structural integrity. The sandwich bun it comes on is strong enough to hold it all together and most importantly the contents do not slide out of the sandwich when you pick it up! I got the San Antonio cheesesteak which was absolutely amazing and I would definitely get again. My friend got the habanero turnkey which was also great and had a lot of flavor in addition to the heat, which was not overpowering. The sandwich was a great size - not too big - and only around 9$. I can’t wait to return to this place and continue to try their large menu of sandwiches because I am a sandwich lover and this place has a fantastic selection.

I got the San Antonio cheese steak sandwich, it was small and unimpressive. I paid $10 and it came with no no side and no drink. The venue is an interesting spot but nothing beautiful to look at. A spot to visit to check off the list but my sandwich was nothing special but the name. I would go back try something else on the menu with a date just for the experience of visiting a San Antonio landmark in the beautiful Kind Williams district, hopefully my next choice will be better.

This was my first visit to the Station Cafe. Ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich with baked lays and a drink. I really liked the sandwich. So many flavors and the bread was really nice. I would have given five stars but I thought the chicken was a little on the dry side. I am going to come back for some pizza slices and maybe a meatball sandwich. There are so many choices ..... and the cakes are amazing !!

Best sandwich spot in town! All their bread and meat is fresh! I had the chicken cheddar chipotle. Chicken was tender and chipotle sauce was so good. My wife got the station muffuletta. She loved it. We got Salads to go with it. The salads were fresh and the vinaigrette was fresh. We always come here for our sandwich fix. Definitely recommend all locals and tourist come and try.

The best fresh baked bread, fabulous curated sauces, great meats. Just go and get any sandwich. My friends all realized that each of us individually fell in love with the first sandwich we tried and then stuck with it for ever, only to realize every sandwich we would try after was also our new favorite. We had a good laugh. Just go already!

SO IN LOVE WITH THE SANDWICHES AND BOSTON CAKE. 1ST TIME INSIDE AND WAS SURPRISED IT WAS NOT FANCY AND INSTEAD IT WAS SUPER PACKED. THAT SPOKE VOLUME TO ME. EVERYONE WAS REALLY NICE, ATMOSPHERE SO WARM AND WELCOMING. THE OWNERS HAVE DONE AN AMAZING JOB. DON'T TELL ANYONE THIS BUT I'VE LITERALLY CAME TO GET THE SAME THING 4 DAYS IN A ROW AND IT'S SO GOOD I CAN'T GET ENOUGH.

Very accommodating! They allowed a work meeting of 12 with no trouble. Kitchen was fast and food was amazing. No gluten free menu, but they can do any of the sandwiches on greens, no bun. I had the turkey pesto and got a greek salad. Actually did not need the salad. They gave me a pile of greens! It was excellent! Staff were friendly and place has a fun artsy vibe! Worth a visit!

Came here while visiting from Dallas. Found it on Reddit while looking for non touristy places to eat. It opened at 11, we showed up just after and within 10 minutes after ordering the line was to the door. The food was amazing. You can tell everything is made from scratch. The vegan burger was one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had. The sides and drinks (hibiscus mint tea) were also delicious. I would have come back for dinner if we weren’t leaving the same day. I can’t wait to come back to San Antonio, this place will be on the top of my list.
