Stave & Stone Winery

MY LORD this winery is special! It’s upscale with a gorgeous view of mount hood wherever you may be seated. Lawn seating is available which offers the most premium view, in my opinion. We each ordered a flight then split a small order of the charcuterie and the baked brie. My favorite glass ended up being the pinot noir, my friend opted for chardonnay as her full sized glass. Dining and drinking here felt like a dream, I would 10/10 recommend.

This place is beautiful! Great getaway in Hood River. This is a must stop for a relaxing wine experience. The atmosphere is just what my friend and I needed to escape the big city for a bit on our way off. The wine was amazing, and so was the lavender ice cream that my friend had. Plenty of seating options, we were there on a Monday. The views are breathtaking, it was peaceful and made all of our stresses melt away. There are plenty of wineries around the area, this one is a must for sure!

Amazing. Great wine. Views are insane. The staff were all so kind. Super accommodating of our dog. We had the best time on the back lawn of the tasting room. Great food, lawn games, relaxed but classy vibe. We'll be back soon. Not sure how we missed it all these years. Cheers!

Very pleasantly surprised by this vintner. They have a broad array of wines representing the estate and grapes in the region. I ran through a flight of reds and was pleased that the wines were smooth and quite drinkable. Nothing was “over-oaked”. A worthy wine visit. And in the summer the lavender farm as a great distraction for my sister-in-law and my wife - while her husband and I tried the wines.

I only gave it four stars because where we come from, kids are allowed at their winery so when we pulled in, we were told our kids weren’t allowed. Also odd, that we would have had to have been seated to do a sample tasting. So we ordered our drinks and took them to the ice cream store and drank them there. The kids enjoyed their lavender and lemon swirl ice creams. Very interesting combination of flavors but they’re good together! Beautiful views, outdoor seating and outdoor games made the visit fun and relaxing despite having kids with us and not being able to have the full experience inside.

Super Highly recommended! Good wine, good food, friendly staff, amazing view of Mt Rainier. We ordered Legacy flight, a glass of Riesling, and a small Artisan Cheese Board. Legacy flight comes with 6 glasses of wine and six food pairing. One of the pairing food is Truffle. We visited on a super hot day (100F) and the waitress even served Truffle late to avoid melting. Awesome service!

We were looking for a relaxing spot not too far from Portland where we could get a great view of Mt. Hood and have some good wine. This place was perfect. We came about an hour before closing on Sunday and were able to get a perfect seat on the patio in the shade. They have several very reasonably priced flights available and a lot of great snack options (for vegans and omnivores alike). The staff was very welcoming and friendly. They also have a wine garden area where there families picnicking and live music, but the quiet view was more our scene. It's also right next to a lavender farm which was a nice bonus.

Had an incredible time in the Stave and Stone tasting room! We wandered in without a reservation and they kindly and warmly accommodated us. We went with the Legacy tasting which included 6 wines (3 white, 3 red) with food pairings. The food was really good and paired perfectly, making the wine taste even better to us novices. We loved every one and left with a new-to-us bottle of Pinot Noir Blanc. Will be back on a sunny clear day so we might be able to see Mt. Hood from the patio!

The most beautiful winery. The views amazing and the wine was fabulous. So good we joined the wine club. The lavender farm next door was equally fabulous. Highly recommend

Love this winery! The wine tastes great, fair prices for the bottle $30-$35! So definitely a good stop for the fruit loop!! Views are INCREDIBLE.

We had a great time wine tasting there with a group of 10. Wine was great, food was really good, and overall customer service was good. Rating would be a 3.75.

We stumbled upon this winery after going to the Hood River Lavender Farm. We saw the gorgeous porch and decided we had to get a glass of wine! We got two different tastings and really enjoyed both the estate flight and the white flight and ended up joining the wine club. The menu looks great and the service and views are fantastic. Excited to come back!

The view is stunning and the wine and food are delicious! We arrived a little after noon on a Wednesday without a reservation. The inside was pretty empty and the patio only had seats in the sun. We weren't doing too well with the humidity (visiting from out of town), so we were happy to sit inside. However, it felt like we were almost forgotten because we weren't out on the patio, which didn't make a whole bunch of sense since the staff were all inside. The winery is beautiful inside and out! We ended up going with the legacy flight, which came with 6 tastings and a food item paired with each drink. We also added on the small charcuterie board to share since this doubled as lunch. I'm not much of a drinker, this experience was more for my husband, but I did try each one and was pleasantly surprised at how smooth the reds were! I don't normally drink red wine at all, so I was so happy at how smooth they all were! Each little bite was also really good! It can get a bit messy, we weren't given silverware for any of the food or napkins, so be warned. My husband eventually had to get up from our table and go to the bar to ask for silverware and napkins. The charcuterie board was also very tasty! We had 2 different types of meats and 2 different cheeses with some dried fruit, bread, and nuts. When we were greeted and our order was taken, the service was great, but once our drinks and food came, that was the end of any kind of service from the staff. I would come again for the food and drinks, but I know now to not expect much in the way of service whether it be checking if everything was ok, if our water was low or gone (which it was), or bringing the things normally set on a table (like napkins and silverware). If you are cool being left alone for the most part and sort of getting in and out, then you shouldn't have any issues!

We got the red flight. I loved the quiver. Amazing view of Mount Adam (I think). The set up is nice with all the chairs separated on each level. We also ordered the pulled pork sandwiches which are ok, a little too sweet & would be nice with toasted buns. The olives were delicious and perfect with the wine. Would love to bring some friends out and chill. It is super relaxing and pleasant. They also have a lavender farm and sell ice cream I think.

I hosted a welcome party night before my son's wedding. Stave and Stone Winery far exceeded my expectations for the evening. Our guests raved about the delicious appetizers and all the various wines. Carrie helped me coordinate this event which went very smoothly thanks to her hard work and dedication. She was very kind and always kept up with our emails to each other prior to the event. She went above and beyond catering to our guests. The beauty and spaciousness of the venue speaks for itself. Our family is already talking about a reunion here next year! Thank you so much for this memorable and lovely time at Stave Stone Winery!

The views from the covered patio are amazing. The food is really good and the lavender fields and attached store are delightful. The three different wine flights we tried here were not impressive, but we loved the generous charcuterie plate and the flavorful artichoke dip that stayed wonderfully warm and gooey in the brief time it took us to enjoy it. Service was perfunctory, bordering on icy once we confirmed we were tourists and not going to sign up for a membership. I got the impression our server wasn't that into wine and didn't much care if we were. The view cannot be beat and we lucked out with the weather (photos attached). We wandered the grounds after we finished our flights and found a small bar and comfy chairs where we enjoyed a couple of beers, actually. I'm so glad I tried this but it didn't inspire me to consider going to any other OR wineries on future visits.

10/10!! This winery is an incredibly romantic fall/winter experience. We got to sit out on the patio with heaters and blankets to drink wine and watch the sunset hit the mountain landscape. The ambiance and service are wonderful. The wine is delicious, we did the red wine flight and the local flight. The rosemary fondue and the charcuterie board with truffle cheese were excellent. Absolutely recommend!

We saw that this winery had great reviews and so wanted to try it. It looked to be beautiful. Nice place and view! We were disappointed with many it the wines that we tasted though. I had the Guest favorites menu and my boyfriend had the reds tasting. Overall the wines were way way too sweet for our taste. Our favorite blend was the Quiver but for $60 a bottle it needed to be gold. Customer service and setting was great. Just wasn't for our palate in the end. Glad that we checked it out though. Beautiful area.

Absolutely stunning. The scenery of Mount Adam's and the wine were a perfect match, don't forget about the artichoke dip! The service was great and educated us on the wines which was very nice. Ended up buying more than I anticipated, but was such a great experience.

Cute winery with a great view. I'm glad we asked about seating. We walked in and the host said all of their tables were full and we had to take our wine to the lavender field. We ordered wine and a charcuterie board and asked if we could sit at one of the tables on the lawn. They said sure. I don't need a server to bring me a glass of wine and a cheese board. I will gladly carry it myself to have the best view on the lawn... This was the second winery that was weird about their limited seating. When did Oregon wineries became as snooty and exclusive as Napa? I enjoyed my glass of wine and the charcuterie board was the perfect snack. Just come here for the view alone. The lavender garden across the way is also cute. Smells great. Bought some loose leaf tea in the small store.

What better time to write this review - May is Oregon wine month and Oregon`s winery list would be remiss if we don't include this gem of a place . Stave and stone had been on my list ever since I started taking wines seriously and somehow, I would always make plans but never get down to coming here. Thanks to my kindest friend Kim G who is a member we came in with a small group of friends and had a lovely afternoon enjoying wines and some great chatter . As luck would have it the weather was fantastic and the views here are just mesmerizing. We were also fortunate to have the best seats in the house and enjoyed looking at Adams standing tall with the valley sprawling for acres while we sipped on the delicious wines .The Tasting room is beautifully done however I highly recommend taking the patio if you can i.e weather permitting of course . This Hood River winery started as a family farm producing apples and pears a century ago, and the first block of Pinot Noir was planted in 2012. Well better late than never ! We did one of the tasting and some food and everything tasted fantastic. The wines are definitely boutique wines and not the stuff you find easily in grocery stores . No wonder they have won many awards . The staff is welcoming and friendly .With the company of great people paired with delicious wine , I had a lovely afternoon .I am definitely coming back.

Lovely setting with view on the mountains. We didn't go inside the winery, but chose to sit at their outside extension near lavender fields. The wine menu was good and small plates that we tried were also good.

Reading through the other reviews I think it's unfortunate that it seems like the service is really inconsistent and the 'no minors allowed' (including babies) is really strict and not clear. I would definitely give it another try because I had a great experience, but I might be a bit more wary of the service next time I go! It probably has to do with the fact that I went alone and it was the middle of the day on a weekday, but I wonder if I had come with a group if I would have had a different experience. Anyway, the views are incredible, the wines I tried were excellent, and I also got the small charcuterie board which was great to snack on while reading in the sun, drinking wine, and looking at the view. My waitress was friendly, patiently answered my questions, and was prompt with my orders. I hope they can pull together and show better customer service to everyone!

Wow! Another absolute GEM in Hood River! The wine was delicious, the food the perfect pairing, then add in the beautiful covered patio with unobstructed views of Mt. Adams standing tall and proud in winter white, and it truly doesn't get any better! Oh, wait, the Vineyard cat, Pinot, just chose my lap to jump onto and cuddle. Just got better!!! Took a spontaneous ride to Hood River on a sunny , blue sky day and had no destination in mind other than the Gorge Whitehouse, which is always my first stop; Pear Lemon hard cider with a view of their garden and mountains is a must! After riding through the valley of orchards just getting their buds, I was seeking a place to just chill in soak in the last of the sunshine. Stave & Stone is open until 6pm on this early April Monday, so I followed my Google directions to their vineyard and as soon as I saw the long driveway and property, I started to get excited! There is plenty of parking out back, and when you enter the indoor tasting room you can see all of the precautions they are taking. Tables with private screens, hand sanitizer and masks. The hostess brought me to a spot on the patio, per my request, and set me up with a fire pit and heater, perfect for this chilly day. Rather than do a flight I went for a glass of their Red Blend and for $12 it was the perfect choice! Big, but not too bold, it was fine on it's own, even better with some cheese, figs and baguette. The staff was super friendly, told me about the history of the vineyard. Stave & Stone is one of the first 10 vineyards in Hood River. Wow! Impressive. One sip of the wine is all you need to comprehend their staying power. Sitting in a super comfy chair with Pinot on my lap, and a Red Blend in my glass, taking in the Mountain view by a fire - pure Heaven. Stave & Stone will most definitely be a mandatory stop whenever I'm in Hood River, which is frequently. It's definitely my Happy Place.

As you'll see from the photo, the view is stunning, and that alone may be worth it, but the customer service has been terrible. An empty patio, but we were refused a table in the front, apparently because they are reserved, even though we also have reservations. An odd tasting system where we have to pour our own ounces from a shared carafe. We did enjoy the wines, so it's unfortunate they are so rigid and unaccommodating about their tables. We came as part of a tour (maybe why they didn't feel the need to be hospitable?), otherwise we would probably have left to go elsewhere - no shortage of wine in this beautiful region!

We had the best time at the vineyard. Our server Caitlyn told us she was new. Could not tell she knew her wines she was very up to date on things. We had an absolute blast with her. We loved the food. Artichoke dips was recommended and Truly happy it was. The view was spectacular. We could have stayed there all day. Thanks Caitlyn for an amazing experience. I love their Pinot noir! Great gift shop, lots of trees shade area to sit down with your children, friendly thrift farmers market and you pick lavender !

We really enjoyed our delicious food paired with our wine tastings. There is a nice view of the vineyard. Wine is very yummy!

Visited the lavender farm next door and decided to try the winery. We were seated quickly without a reservation. Food and wine was delicious, we had the artichoke dip and small charcuterie board and Merlot. The view was amazing, Mt Adams in the distance. Outside patio had some games to play. Only complaint I have was the service, staff seemed to be annoyed and very short on answers when asking questions about the wine and menu. We ate, sipped wine, enjoyed the view and decided to go play cornhole and darts. We left our food and wine, along with our belongings, the staff started to clear our table and pick up our belongings, I had to tell them we were not done, we stepped away for a moment to enjoy a game. They seemed irritated. I may give this place another chance but only because the food, wine and view.

Location 5-stars Charcuterie board 5 stars Artichoke dip - 5 stars Value 5-stars Wines - 4 stars Thoroughly enjoyed our visit on the outside patio of Stave & Stone winery. The views are worth the visit. The reds were very tasty especially the pinot and zinfandel. Half our group got the basic 3 red wine tasting for $10. The others did the 5 wine premium. We like we could add wines on to the tasting. And their wines by the glass were reasonably priced. The tasty meats and cheeses and dips were just what we needed with our tasting.

First experience was 5 stars. The staff was very friendly, and we were seated outside on a beautiful day. We each got the $20 flight with the food pairings. Both the wine and the morsels were great, well paired. The second time was 3.5 stars. We wanted to sit outside again but had to wait, so we were sat inside in their side room. There were a few flies buzzing around that wouldn't leave us alone and no one came to check on us in about 20 minutes. We gave up on sitting outside since we were never asked despite tables clearing. We got the same wine tasting and a charcuterie board, which was also good. It is a beautiful winery, both inside and out. They also have a lavender farm right next door where you can pick the buds or visit their gift shop. Overall, would definitely recommend coming here if you enjoy wine tasting/hanging out in the gorge

Fantastic service, fantastic tasting room, fantastic Pinot! This was our first time to Hood River and after much research - I decided on Stave and Stone. They even make reservations for their tasting room! We sat on the patio under the heat lamps, and looked out onto the vineyard. We did two tasting flight - one even came with paired food bites. We did a small cheese board, and the bread basket. Fantastic flavors, great ingredients, and picture perfect atmosphere. Across the parkway, they had a small shop amidst the lavender. We got a beautiful and aromatic handmade candle on our way out! A must stop on the Oregon Fruit Loop!

What a lovely experience. The place was empty except for us but the fire was glowing and the wine was awesome. We had the Brie which is to die for. It was a lovely setting on a very rainy chilly day. Perfect!!

The people here were really nice and provided great service. We enjoyed the basic wine flights. The view is fantastic, but unfortunately, it's facing the opposite direction of Mount Hood. We didn't have a reservation, but we got in right away. I don't think that's typical, though, so I would recommend making one. The price were okay... maybe a little high.

Great winery located deep in the hood river area, while you drive past many others on the way, I enjoyed coming to Stave & Stone. Great food options, wine sampling, and Lavender Fields to walk around in next door. I was pleasantly surprised by the cost of the wine tastings, we got a few more than planned due to it being affordable! Great wine! Also, you can grab bottles to go if you love your samples!

This was the absolutely PERFFECT way to cap a day spent in the lavender fields next door. We were seated immediately, and from the back patio, we had a beautiful view of fields and a mountain in the distance. We ordered the cheese board, and it was beautiful, along with the flight of white wines. We also got the pulled pork sliders, which I can't recommend ENOUGH. They were fantastic!! Thoroughly enjoyed the wines as well. Our waitress was so kind and attentive and we had a great experience. Highly recommend.

The view is great and it's an adorable location, but the charcuterie board was surprisingly small and missing some "oomph". The outdoor seating arrangement wasn't my favorite either as part of the outdoor is serviced and the other isn't despite being extremely close in proximity. The service was good though and we did enjoy the wine! It was a beautiful day so we sat and chatted for a while.

This winery knocked my socks off! What an absolutely beautiful vineyard, and winery! They have many seating sections on the grounds, a gift shop with lots of delightful lavender products, from their garden! The tasting we chose was the $25 flight, with food pairings, what a magnificent price! The wine was so delicious, especially the pinot nor! I ended up buying a bottle! The food tastings went so well with each wine! The whole experience was relaxing and so beautiful! Is recommended 110% They are not a distributor, so you cannot buy their wine in stores, so come by Stave and Stone, for your only opportunity to try their amazing wine!

Place has a great view outside. As long as you are the right type of clientele I'm sure you can have a great time. The wine is mediocre and the service is trash.

This winery has been my favorite over all. The wine is delicious! I ordered the red introduction flight and WOW! I was blown away. It was so hard to select just one. I selected the 2018 Zinfandel and my husband selected the Cabernet Sauvignon. We also ordered the pulled pork nachos... delicious.... Overall 10/10 wit

Beautiful winery!! We came with a party of 9 and were seated in a private room. Our server was so wonderful and knowledgeable. Giving us so much information on the wine flights we were trying and background on wine making. The food was phenomenal! We got the meat and cheese board and the artichoke dip. Our group had such a good time I cannot wait to visit this place again!

Had a horrible experience with the staff when we came the other day. The wine and food is decent but the service is awful. We had reservations for my moms birthday. We were seated but had extremely uncomfortable benches to sit on. They were so bad that it was actually painful. It was a Tuesday so they were not busy at all. Our waitress helped us swap out chairs for better ones and placed the uncomfortable ones outside. As we preceded to do so with the next bench a different waitress came out and actually yelled at us and was extremely rude telling us we can't move and the benches there. When we asked her kindly were we should put them she replied "BACK WHERE YOU GOT THEM". And then preceded to be extremely rude after we informed her that our waitress put the chairs there and we were just following her. This whole outburst also disrupted everyone that was sitting around us making everyone stop tasting and eating. There was absolutely no reason for us to be yelled at like that and I don't think I've ever been yelled at so rudely like that anywhere. We were considering joining there wine club but after that I'm not sure we will even come back at all.

Delicious food! Beautiful view! Great, friendly service! Went in the spring/summer and sat outside. It's very serene and relaxing and I'm grateful to only live about 5 minutes away. My family and I love going up to enjoy the charcuterie boards and the lavender farms. A must when you visit Hood River!

View is amazing, wine and service are not. TLDR; The cons are treatment of hosts if you're a person of color and subpar wine. The pros are the wine garden is nice and the portable restrooms are clean. My partner, his parents, and I (all people of color) were in the area, visiting wineries, Mt. Hood, and lavender farms. We walked into Stave & Stone Winery. There were plenty of seats inside and some spots outside. At the entrance, there was a sign that said "Please wait for host to be seated." We waited as the sign indicated. There were a couple of hosts in the corner chatting. After a couple of minutes, a host walked up to us and slowly enunciated, "Just so you know this is a 21 and over establishment." Great, all of us are well over 21 so there shouldn't be a problem right? Well, apparently you need reservations and their place is currently "full." The host directed us to the wine garden instead. The clear misjudgment from the host indicate explicit biases and very clear stereotyping of potential customers. My hope is that management reflect on their biases and work towards training their employees on cultural competence and tolerance. As a business, you would want to serve all types of paying customers. If the goal of the business is to only serve certain types of people, then thank you for showing your blatant racism.

The wines were all lovely. We took home a bottle of the Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir 2021 Broken Boulder both my favorites. I feel like the ambience could be slightly better for indoor seating.

Location was nice with great views of Mt Adams. Wine as alright. I'm not usually a white wine fan but enjoyed the Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. One big note for the winery please don't let your employees wear OVER bearing perfume, especially hippy patchouli!!!!!!!! It really makes for poor tasting experience.

Overall a great experience. We sat out on the patio. The views are lovely of Mt. Adams above the rows of grapes. Our server was friendly. We had the basic white flight. It was nothing special but we went into it with the expectation of an experience for the views rather than the wine specifically. We had the baked Brie board, super yummy!

I normally try to see the positive in people and don't write negative review, especially for any establishments but I cannot be silence. We visited the Lavenders farm, which was beautiful and wonderful in so many ways. The weather was nice but a bit hot for our boys so we decided to stopped by Stave & Stone Winery outdoor sitting for foods and drink. At the counter, their food choices were limited but understandable because what they serve goes with the wines. However, we noticed several tables enjoying foods from their coolers so we asked the staff if we can also do that if we purchased their wines. The staff response, "Of course, that's why we have it available for everyone!" We selected the wine, finished the transaction, sat out boys down while one of us go out to grab the snacks we have prepared and this is where it went south because of this individual. She claims to be the owner of Stave & Stone winery! Dress in black, looks professional and decent but bias and racist! She introduced herself as the owner and said no outside foods in the area. We informed her that there are people sitting in her establishment eating foods brought in from outside. She said, "I will talk to those people" yet made no attempts to do so except for one table, full of Asian people, drinking her wines and eating her foods while the rest continues to enjoy their outside foods. If you are the owner, you can run your business however you want. BUT you need to make it clear so the rules applies to everyone! Talk to your staffs, don't tricks us into buying your wines. Put up signs that clearly states NO OUTSIDE FOODS! Follow through with your words and don't single out on a group of people that happens to not have outside foods and drinks but simply because they're Asian. No matter how good your wines or foods, it will leave an unpleasant taste and experiences for those that visits the Lavenders farm simply because you're right next door.
