I recently returned from an extended trip. I was taking the train from Seattle to southern California, with a 1 night stay in San Francisco. I made a reservation through Priceline, not realizing it was an overnight train ride arriving SF the next day. I arrived around 8am and the young woman told me they had canceled my reservation, as it was made for the night before. I realized my mistake and booked a room for that night.. She attempted, but couldn't do anything about a refund. I checked with Priceline, as well. I left my luggage and went into the city.
A couple hours later, I was thinking about it and realized that I had paid for a night anyway, so why wasn't I offered a room at 8am? I could have showered and freshened up. After some research now, I understand it's Priceline's policy to cancel the reservation, which I think is a bad one.
When I came back to check in during the evening, there were 2 people at the desk. The young man was very friendly and kind. I asked him out of curiosity the question of why I wasn't offered a room earlier in the day and and he was unsure, but would check on things. I was trying to ask if that was a company policy or something. Another employee sitting at the computer kept interrupting at least 2 or 3 times, angrily saying, "I don't know. I was at home, sleeping! " I wasn't even speaking to him at first, but eventually, he irritated me so much that I did, explaining that I wasn't blaming him or anyone. He was extremely rude, hyper, and agitated. He kept going back and forth to the bar and had a drink in his hand. I thought maybe he was the bartender. It seemed like he was probably on drugs. He's an older guy, balding, with a short, scruffy beard (and a drink in his hand). As Staypineapple is in the hospitality business, this is completely inappropriate. He should be severely reprimanded, if not fired. As I mentioned, the other 2 employees were very gracious and friendly, as was the overnight desk agent. The room and hotel were actually very nice. 0 stars
