Steakland Kobe-kan

For a quintessential, accessible introduction to the world-famous Kobe beef teppanyaki experience, Steakland Kobe-kan delivers a satisfying and memorable meal with a focus on value and performance. Located in the heart of Kobe's bustling restaurant district, the atmosphere is lively and theatrical, where skilled chefs cook premium cuts of certified Kobe beef right before you on sizzling iron griddles. While the setting is more functional than intimate, the highlight is undeniable: the exceptionally marbled, melt-in-your-mouth beef, expertly prepared to highlight its unparalleled tenderness and rich, umami flavor. Served as part of a well-paced set course with salad, vegetables, garlic rice, and miso soup, the meal offers a comprehensive taste of the teppanyaki tradition. For visitors seeking the iconic Kobe beef experience without the exorbitant price tag of elite boutique restaurants, Steakland Kobe-kan provides a reliable, enjoyable, and flavorful gateway.

We had a decent dining experience at Steakland Kobe, and the restaurant offers reasonable value for enjoying Kobe beef, especially for first-time visitors who want a straightforward introduction without the formality or prices of more exclusive steakhouses. The beef was tender, flavourful, and cooked competently on the teppan grill. Portions were generous, and the set menus were well balanced, with vegetables and sides that complemented the steak adequately. That said, the overall atmosphere could be improved. The dining area was quite smoky, which affected comfort. During our visit, the chef was also coughing while cooking; although this did not affect the food quality, it would be reassuring from a hygiene perspective if a mask or mouth shield were used in such situations. In addition, the staff appeared focused on getting the job done rather than providing warm service. They were efficient, but interactions felt impersonal, which detracted from the dining experience. Overall, Steakland Kobe delivers a functional, value-oriented Kobe beef meal, but improvements in ventilation, hygiene practices, and service warmth would significantly enhance the experience.

For a restaurant, I feel that we are not serviced but rushed like fast food restaurant. Servers aren’t as attentive to us as Chinese looking Singaporeans. Menu is not even given to us after seating us. We had to ask for the menu from them. The restaurant was not even packed at all. They were just avoiding us as foreigners. When they serve us the food from the hot plate grill, food was spilled out of our plate. Photo uploaded. When I made Advice: call for the chef wearing black clothings. Not those with white. Price is considered reasonable but unfortunately Food has no special memorable points.

I was thoroughly impressed by the griddled Kobe beef here—it was incredibly soft and melted in my mouth. It's truly a high-quality dish. The best part is the reasonable price they offer during lunch hours, which makes this premium meal accessible. However, there can be a very long queue during peak lunch time. I recommend arriving right when they open or a bit later in the afternoon to avoid the longest waits.

Had the Kobe Sirloin Steak Special Set with my wife and it was a great lunch date spot. The place feels classy and a bit fancy, perfect for a relaxed treat. The Kobe beef was really different from wagyu, very clean taste, not oily, no strong beef smell, and super smooth. Simple seasoning lets the quality shine. Definitely worth trying if you want to experience Kobe beef properly. 😋🥩

Located on level 6, this place is large enough to accommodate many guest, and I noticed that it consists of mainly foreigners, just like myself. The environment is very timeless and classy, reminds me of an English steakhouse. Had their special kobe beef set which cost 9500 yen. It came with sampling plate consisting of one fried prawn, scallop, squid leg, set meal also had orange juice, mango ice cream, and soup. It is also important to note that the price for dinner is more expensive than lunch. Diners may want to consider visiting during lunch to optimise spending. Ensure to order beef with the word "kobe" in the menu, there is a stark distinction in taste and price. The beef steak was cooked to the doneness of one's choice in front of the guest. The steak was shown as a whole, then cut and prepared to cubes as an end result. I reckon they did it this way so that they could regulate the guest intake of beef per bite; the kobe beef is superbly buttery. Diners are spoilt with choices of sides, to offset the fattiness of kobe beef. This is a good tactic employed by the restaurant! The pairing goes well for all the sides. In fact, I didn't take a sip of my water until I have finished the main dish. The restaurant sold the experience well. The staff were plenty attentive, noting when to change the cutlery, pace the guest by serving the course aptly. Very well done. The mango ice cream is certainly a dark horse, providing sweetness after the savoury beef. Overall, I recommend visitors to come try for the experience once. The main dish is also worthwhile.

The food is ok, but there are better places in Kobe in terms of taste and service. I ordered the wagyu and seafood on the side. The food and service was quite rushed, evident by my semi-cold octopus and the waiters who were rushing to take our order. Although I ordered a wagyu they mixed up the order with someone else in the same group who ordered a more expensive option. I would have appreciated if they could have just swapped it with the other person they gave mine to, but they made a very short/ kurt response "no cancellation" and cared very little to rectify the mistake and moved on to the next table to cook. Despite it being teppanyaki there is minimal interaction and personalization to the experience. The chefs very quickly cook the food and move on. Overall quite a negative experience.

Our first time trying the kobe beef. Lunch price is a lot cheaper than dinner. So it is better to visit at lunch. We order both kobe beef and tender kobe beef. Personally, I prefer render kobe beef because it is a lot chewy compared to the others. It was a nice experience, the chef cook directly in front of us. Better to visit early around 11 AM because the place is getting many customer after 11.30
