16 Seriously Interesting Nordic Hotels

"The lakeside inland city of Västerås has never seen anything like the Steam Hotel. Here a beautiful old red-brick power plant has been expanded and transformed into an 18-story, 227-room luxury hotel whose “industrial-romantic” interiors would be the talk of many a much larger town. The Voltage Lounge features an indoor pool heated by one of the power plant’s old turbines, and there’s also an indoor water park, complete with waterslides, spanning eight of the structure’s floors." - Mark Fedeli

Absolutely fantastic hotel, but first of all the service on the level that is so rare to find. Dinner on the 18:th floor was incredible, outstanding views and food. Great breakfast, beautiful hotel and rooms, comfortable beds, a lot of games to play in different Lounges. The only bad thing was unfortunately that the water in the swimming pools was really dirty 🥲 Perfect for a romantic getaway anyway.

It's a nice hotel in a very nice area along the lake. Wonderful for a getaway weekend, but it may not be a good choice for business travelers. Breakfast starts at 7:00, but the breakfast bags were good. I found it hard to find a place to work. What I found infuriating was that they have an area that they call their luggage room. The room is often left wide open for anybody to walk in. It is right at the entrance. Many people visit the hotel and don't stay there. I had to put my suitcases in there on my last day. When I returned to get my bags the door was wide open and they had a special event going on. Someone is going to have their bags stolen sooner or later.

Stayed at The Steam Hotel in Västerås with my partner for his birthday, and it was an amazing experience. From the warm welcome to the fantastic food and the serene spa, everything hit the mark. The building’s history as an old power plant still shines through in the best way, you can feel the character as soon as you walk in. It’s industrial charm meets modern luxury

One of my favourite hotels ever visited. The theme is consistent in all aspects and every service is well performed. Make sure to visit the bar on the top floor as well as the breakfast on the bottom floor.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All amenities are kept clean and well organised. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Restaurants food and drinks are really good, the view from the rooftop Japanese restaurant and bar is amazing. We will be back in the future. Thank you to the whole team

Stayed a couple of nights whilst on business, Hotel was in a word "different" but lovely, Inside very industrial but slightly dark.|First room i had was in the main building on the 10th floor absolutely fantastic with a view over the lake single bed but very comfortable, had to move to a "turbine" room for the second night and this was not as nice as i must have been near one of the bars and the music could be heard well into the night.|Food in the hotel was lovely especially breakfast. Did not use the leisure facilities but did make a visit to the rooftop bar. what a view.|Would i stop again its a definite yes

If you are looking for a well priced hotel with a luxury feel, you should definitely come here. The atmosphere and staff felt like in a 5 star hotel, and everything was very close to the Kokpunkten waterpark. The views from the SPA pool were also amazing and while it was quite windy in the outdoor pool, the water was warm so you barely felt anything.

Very nice, the breakfast was delicious. The theme was terrific! The family room was very cool and it had two levels but the extra bed was kind of small. The game room was awesome!
