16 Seriously Interesting Nordic Hotels

"The lakeside inland city of Västerås has never seen anything like the Steam Hotel. Here a beautiful old red-brick power plant has been expanded and transformed into an 18-story, 227-room luxury hotel whose “industrial-romantic” interiors would be the talk of many a much larger town. The Voltage Lounge features an indoor pool heated by one of the power plant’s old turbines, and there’s also an indoor water park, complete with waterslides, spanning eight of the structure’s floors." - Mark Fedeli

"High-design boutique hotels in Stockholm and Gothenburg are common enough, but the lakeside inland city of Västerås has never seen anything like the Steam Hotel. Here a beautiful old red-brick power plant has been expanded and transformed into an 18-story, 227-room luxury hotel whose “industrial-romantic” interiors would be the talk of many a much larger town. Dining and drinking venues include an upscale steakhouse, a rooftop bar, and Voltage Lounge, which features an indoor pool heated by one of the power plant’s old turbines, as well as an indoor water park, complete with waterslides, spanning eight of the structure’s floors." - Tablet Hotels

Perfect place to stay in Västerås!! Everything is so beautiful and cozy! We came for a spa day, which included a night stay, 3 meal-dinner and breakfast in the morning. I don’t have any complaints, it was breathtaking how beautiful and relaxing everything is! The food was super good and the staff was the kindest ever. There’s also an area where you can play some chill games in the haul. Special thank you to Daniel, such a good bartender, the best ever!! He made us try the Voltage spritz in the spa’s bar that I really recommend (coming from an Italian girl!!) I will 1000% come again!!!❤️

Hotel, rooms, service at the reseption are awesome. But if you want to eat at 14:45 you rather order via Wolt. Restaurant on thr 1st floor who supposed to be open till 15:00 sent me to 18th floor, those guys werr noy happy to see anyone and told that they open at 15:00. At 15:00 i went again and was open only bar with little snacks. Took 2 little tacos , were oversalted and overpriced (paid 25 EUR). Due to location you do not find anythi good nearby. So do not make my mistakes and order Wolt. And then i met colleagues and we went to the terrace for the coffe at 16:00, were waiting for a long to get one. And when we finally got it spilled on the plate we were kicked out without allowing to finish coffe at 16:35 because they are opening at 17:00 and need to prepare table. They didn't even gave us a 5 min to finsih a drink or informed in advance when we were ordering coffe that will kick us out 5 min after serving it. Place, decore is awesome, rooms also, service in all restaurants is awful. Hope managemnt will take it as constructive feedback and improve it.

Such a fabulous place. It’s for an experience. Rooms are gorgeous with the sea side view if you take superior rooms. Spa was fabulous. Outdoor pool was amazing. And the chefs choice menu at the Asian restaurant for dinner was amazing experience. Breakfast was also nice but so many people, was difficult to find a seat. And in general it was difficult to find a table by the window both for Asian and the ground floor restaurant, so I missed to enjoy dinner by the window which was a little bummer. You could do a lot of activities at their sports lounge, watch cinema or even do karaoke.

We had the pleasure to visit the Steam hotel and spa.||This is our third time visiting and the quality is still on a high level.||Still I think it is very expensive but the quality is really good so just enjoy.||The hotel;|+ high service level|+ friendly staff|+ the rooms are very nice |- the beds are to soft for me (rest of family was happy, matter of taste)||The Spa;|+ fresh|+ plenty of pools and saunas|+ nice relaxing beds with beautiful view|+ friendly service |- maybe little to crowded||The restaurants;|+ very high quality of the food|+ nice service |- expensive drinks

It's a nice hotel in a very nice area along the lake. Wonderful for a getaway weekend, but it may not be a good choice for business travelers. Breakfast starts at 7:00, but the breakfast bags were good. I found it hard to find a place to work. What I found infuriating was that they have an area that they call their luggage room. The room is often left wide open for anybody to walk in. It is right at the entrance. Many people visit the hotel and don't stay there. I had to put my suitcases in there on my last day. When I returned to get my bags the door was wide open and they had a special event going on. Someone is going to have their bags stolen sooner or later.

Stayed at The Steam Hotel in Västerås with my partner for his birthday, and it was an amazing experience. From the warm welcome to the fantastic food and the serene spa, everything hit the mark. The building’s history as an old power plant still shines through in the best way, you can feel the character as soon as you walk in. It’s industrial charm meets modern luxury

Overall good experience because the staff is really nice and the place has many activity options. The only downside is that you are being charged extra money for a lake view when the room has only one extra small window. It is a real shame, see the picture, and I can assure you there is no window behind the left curtain, only a plain wall. Thomas & Nelly room 408

The best hotel i ever been to !!!! They have different hotel room one of them has 2 floors with 1 beds ! Love it ! 🥰 , personal absolutely perfect every time we come to steam hotel there someone who’s welcome us ! We were in steam hotel 3-5 times and each time we had amazing ! Service , there many activities you can do : games , arcade , cinema and ping pong there’s also a bar at the top and it’s so beautiful there! It’s placed beside the aqua park “ kokpunkten “ and take 10-20minutes to get to center if you walk !
