"I note that Steam Rice Roll King in East Portland specializes in Cantonese-style rice noodle rolls with fillings such as Chinese sausage, shrimp, sweet corn, and beef brisket." - Rebecca Roland

Yummy steam rice rolls with great prices! And, complimentary soy milk!!! (+aura points) 🗣️ Taste-wise, on the mild side (not necessarily bland, but could use a bit more oomph for me. I loved adding the chili crisp). I like the orange, happy theme. The family is very nice. Support family businesses!

Rice rolls were pretty good and I liked the variety of fillings they had. They also have complimentary thick warm soy milk that was delicious. Its definitely more thick with soybean sediment rather than a thinner liquid consistency found in American stores. Service was a bit slow because there was only one waitress. There was also a moderate amount of flies in the restaurant.

We came in around 1:30pm and were seated immediately, and then our server brought out complimentary glasses of warm fresh soy milk. We ordered fried bananas (YUM, but don’t know why they came with ketchup and mayo haha. Best plain!), mixed intestine fried noodles (ok- the intestines didn’t have much seasoning), corn rice roll (my favorite!), beef rice roll (my son’s favorite), curry fish balls (too salty), and pork/century egg congee (my husband’s favorite). It was about $50 for the five of us, which is such a good deal!

I liked the steam noodle rolls, it could use more flavor, but it wasn't too bad. We also liked the warm soy milk they served. I dont think I would actually ever come back though. Their noodles were not good at all. Ordered the wonton noodles soup and the beef brisket noodles. The noodles texture was more like vermicelli or mung bean noodles. Like the kind in egg rolls and I really disliked it. The broth was plainer than plain, more like hot water? I know these noodle bowls aren't their specialty but still, instant cup noodles would be tastier.

If you're in to rice rolls, you gotta try this place. The rolls had great texture and the stuffing was well flavored. The congee was also delicious and hit the spot. But my favorite dishes was the sesame and chicken wings. The noodles had a nice fragrance that was elevated by the chili oil sauce and the wings was battered and fried to pefection.

We came here yesterday morning as a family of five for dine-in. The place was clean and bright, but overall, the food was pretty underwhelming. We ordered a mix of dishes — steamed rice rolls with egg, beef, shrimp, and ground pork(my family ate this one), plus the beef brisket noodles, fried mushrooms, salad, congee, and warm soy milk. The texture of the steamed rice rolls was really good — soft and fresh — but most of the dishes had barely any flavor. The sauces were super light, and there wasn’t any soy sauce at the table to help. The beef brisket was tender, but the noodles had no flavor at all even though they sauced the noodles, it was very watery tasting. The shrimp rice roll wasn’t balanced — just pieces of steamed shrimp instead of being spread out, so you ate shrimp for one bite while the rest is all bland noodles. The chili oil didn’t have much flavor either. Honestly, the best thing we had was the warm soy milk — that was really good. Service was okay but slow. It took over 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order, even though we were only the second table there. The photos on the menu were also pretty misleading. The fried mushrooms in the picture looked like trumpet mushrooms, but what we got were just fried quartered white button mushrooms. The salad looked like an Asian-style vegetable salad in the photo, but it came out as iceberg lettuce with croutons, cheese, a few shrimp, and ranch — very disappointing. Like what!? Overall, everything looked fresh but just didn’t taste like much. If I came back, it would only be for the soy milk.

Yummy and delicious! Warm and cozy! My wonton was perfectly seasoned! The steamed rice cakes are my favorite, thin and tasty!

Everyone leaving negative reviews not based on the food...we found out when we went two nights ago that this place has only been open for 4 months! Let's cut them some slack. The food is fantastic. They stone grind their own rice flour in the kitchen. It makes the texture of the rice rolls incredibly silky, stretchy, bouncy (order from the stone ground menu). Never ever been to a restaurant that served Cheung fun that did that themselves! This is the real deal and y'all need to try it if you like this dish. The owners/staff are so friendly and when we went, service was very quick, though we were there during a week night when it was slower. The fresh, hot soy milk was so warming and pleasant on a chilly, rainy night(and free!). We will be back and we will take our whole family so we can try more dishes 😁
