Steamies Burger Bar

On vacation and staying in Ouray. Visited Telluride and wanted a quick bite so stopped here. Throughout my colorado trip, i’ve had mediocre food with high prices and just ok food overall. However, this place is the highlight of my trip in terms of food. The fancy restaurants around town couldn’t cut it and this burger joint surpassed them in terms of food quality and pricing. I had the yeti burger and my date had the colossal with fries. Absolutely everything was delicious. And the prices were REASONABLE, not crazy like the other local restaurants. The service was great too with a good selection of sauces available and food options. I wish this kind of food quality was more common in this area. 10/10 recommend.

Best Burger In Telluride! I also discovered they have a ton of sandwiches that are to die for. (Like their chicken sandos!) This food is an absolute must try when in town. They have healthy salads, delish milkshakes, tasty cocktails, and so much more. Great breakfast options too!

Breakfast was so tasty, they have beakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches. Steamies also had a coffee bar with iced coffee, hot coffee, hot cocoa and mochas! We got a dirty chai that was phenomenal. Opens pretty early and has cute outdoor seating.

This is a great burger bar. The sauce selection is perfect with a few unique choices, like wasabi pesto, blueberry, ketchup, bacon mustard, and chipotle aïoli. The guy I spoke with behind the cash register was super accommodating and also very friendly and the food turned out. Perfect I got the Zonie and it’s everything I wanted. The side of crinkle fries was a healthy portion as well. Would recommend this spot.

We always enjoy stopping by Steamies for a delicious lunch or milkshake! The employees are helpful and friendly and the service is usually pretty quick. All the food I’ve ever had here has been delicious, but I especially like their burgers and fries. Also the fry sauces that they have available are great. Milkshakes here are also top notch. Overall I’d definitely recommend stopping in Steamies if you’re in town!

If you're looking for burgers, shakes, and craft sodas, then you'll love this place.

Sign is a lie. Not fresh at all. Bacon was freeze dried. Burger appeared frozen. Milkshake was icy no creamy. You are better off at any other place in town.

We came in at 11 am and were served cold burgers. The bison patties are definitely cooked from frozen. Any typical burger is at least a quarter pound, yet the patties looked like they came from McDonald's; We would've preferred to have eaten a fast food burger.. the price point (high) and quality of food (so low) aren't even close to the same level. Not to mention, the garbage in the dining room was already full when we came in...

Very disappointed... I had high expectations for these burgers, a sign on the front of the restaurant claims "voted best burger in CO" so I order the Yeti "best rated burger" I was very disappointed. I could not finish my food and the rest of my party felt that the food was equally disgusting. The service was quick and the restaurant had a welcoming environment, those are the only factors keeping this from a 1 star.

We came in because we needed something fast. Counter service sounded fast! There was a line, but presumably the line would move fast? Nothing was fast. The line was slow. The food was slow. But most importantly, the food was BAD. I should have known I had done something wrong in ordering the elk chili when the employee at the register didn't know how to enter it. It was a giant rancid bowl, soupy with an over spiced tomato broth, rife with beans and the verrrry occasional cube of elk. I almost returned it because I was sure they had accidentally served me the vegetarian three bean chili until I found one on the seventh or eighth spoonful. I ordered it with cheese. The cheese was three slices on top, fully unmelted. I couldn't tell if it was bad American cheese, or vegan. Usually the one thing American does well is melt! The chicken tenders and fries were mediocre, but by far the best thing we ordered. The burgers tasted boiled, and were topped with the same, unmelted, unmeltable, unpalatable cheese. On the way out my son told me, "we need to bomb this place in the reviews. The world needs to know. We have to warn them." I am doing my part.

I'm shocked at the low ratings for this place because I thought it was amazing!! Starting off, yes the patties are on the thinner side but they held a lot of flavor and I was so happy with the portion and didn't feel like I had to roll myself out of the restaurant. The onion rings and sweet potato fries were phenomenal. Their drinks were great. Our server/the guy who took our order last night was AMAZING. I wish I had grabbed his name. I asked for extra pickles and I swear he would have hunted down every last pickle on earth for me. He was so freaking awesome. Finished the night with a chocolate/vanilla swirl custard and I'm already wondering if it's too soon to go back and repeat my exact meal for the second night in a row. Cute outdoor dining area with a dog friendly patio right in downtown, too!! Oh- and I'm sorry, but anywhere that has a sauce bar is immediately #1 on my list. Should have taken a picture of it but they have all kinds of toppings and condiments/sauces for fries and all your food!!

Had a great experience at Steamies Burger Bar...I ordered the garden burger with beer-battered onion rings...and both were absolutely delicious...crispy...flavorful...and cooked just right...My wife enjoyed a grilled cheese sandwich...and a cookies and cream milkshake...and she couldn't stop raving about how good it was...The shake was thick...creamy...and packed with flavor...The only downside was the restroom area...it could've been a bit cleaner...But overall...the food and vibes more than made up for it...We'll definitely be back!!!

Food is frozen, Reheated and served with a bad attitude.... Cute café style setup but I would definitely not ever eat here AGAIN nor do I reccomend anyone else do... we paid over 100 bucks for nasty food and the lady at the counter was very unwelcoming and not friendly at all... Hope she has a better day...

This was recommended by one of our buddies but I would not put this on a list of must try. I ordered a crispy chicken salad to eat *dainty* and it came with one piece of chicken tender cut into slices with big pieces of lettuce. The crispy chicken was good. I loved that they had many sauces to chose from with jalapeños and peppers to the side that you could self serve. They have off brand soda. My friends parents loved the unsweetened iced tea. I got a dirty Shirley and wished I didn't. It tasted nothing like a Shirley temple and I had one sip then chose water. We spent 104.00 on 3 people. That includes a $10 tip. Their vibe was fun and mountain-like. We're from NY too so maybe that's why the boys didn't like the burgers. They thought, "most voted Burger" was not true. The sweet potato fries are a must. You can't knock it till you try it but we were like damn.

I was nervous because i read bad reviews but maybe we got lucky or maybe other people are picky. Everything we got was delicious. I got the chili sunday and my friends got burgers. Everything was fire. Don't be scared to try it out!

3/5: Food was okay. I ordered the Steamies burger and did not have high expectations. It hit the spot only because our group was very hungry. 1/5: Service quality was a pitfall. Our cashier at the register was not interested in answering questions. It's completely understandable if the restaurant was busy. In this case, it was only our group of 6 in the restaurant at opening. Aside from the cashier's lack of interest in answering easy questions, I was confused how my single patty Steamie burger, side of onion rings, and soft drink came out to $30 PRE TIP. I was never shown a tip screen during the transaction and later realized the cashier entered her own tip without my input. For anyone who thinks their order total might sound too high for what they ordered, make sure to ask for the total cost breakdown because there is a chance the cashier added their own tip to your check.

I know it's Telluride, but $90 for lunch. The quantity was not satisfying nor the taste up to the seemingly good ingredients. The menu looked very interesting and we were hungry. We should have looked at the reviews. If there was chicken in my Greek Chicken Handheld it was very skimpy and had zero flavor. The rest of the ingredients should have enhanced the sandwich, but didn't. The Kahuna Burger was good sized and again, despite the ingredients no enhanced flavor and the sweet potato were just ok. The last member of our party had Raman bowl and they wondered if any spices were used. So, prices too high for the quantity and flavor of the food. Staff seemed to hustle, but no real emotion. I expect tourist prices being higher, but our feeling is Telluride is too pricey for the value we receive. The best part was the Girl Scout Cookie Shake.

Great burgers! A local recommended this place and with a bunch of hungry boys, burgers sounded great. The service was great, Garrett went above and beyond after hearing we were in town celebrating our friend's life & even brought us a round of shots so we could have a group cheers. Highly recommend for great service & a good diverse menu in a casual spot with great sunset views!

Bar is cute and clean. The food as mediocre for our whole group. We got the elk sliders and found them to be a bit underwhelming in flavor and quality. Similar opinions were expressed by the rest of the table. The prices are quite expensive for the quality and quantity of the food.

Literally the BEST! I had and amazing salad and milkshake. Employees were super nice and friendly. The overall decor and style of the place was amazing. Definitely my favorite place to go to after school and before practices!

The entire experience there is unique. The drinks there are different than any others I have had. The burgers are good but it is messy. The experience differs though. One time it was bad, but the other time was good.

Saw all the poor reviews on these burgers so just got a mint chocolate shake instead. Not good not bad. I just know that there were way too many chocolate chips in the milkshake and they blended it a little too long.

Update: got food poisoning Outside seating view was great & that was about it. Honestly would say I had one of the grossest over priced burgers in my life. I asked for no kale but they gave me kale. The onions were soggy in oil which made me wanna gag. Plus the bison burger patty was clearly frozen & also hard to choke down. Fries were crispy but also frozen. Their burger menu lacks any substance or toppings. Which makes sense because they want to charge you $3 per extra topping. Forcing you to either spend $30 or more on a decent burger. Legit when I took the kale I asked to be taken off the burger it was the saddest looking thing in the world... just meat, cheese, weird aioli, & super soggy onions. The burger patty was also tiny so 80% of my bun & all the kale I didn't want was left over... Sadly I only ate here because every other resturant was packed. Makes sense now.

These burgers were amazing! We actually ate here twice during our week in Telluride. They have an open patio and a small covered patio that are both dog friendly. We highly recommend!

Definitely a bit pricey.. but Garrett made up for it with his humor + service. We had a blast.

The menu says the Yeti burger is voted "#1 Best Burger in Colorado". Either it was voted by some rando or Colorado has a depressing burger scene. The patties were oh so basic with little no seasoning. Almost seemed premade and frozen. And only a quarter pound. It was such a let down. The lady at the register wasn't friendly at all. And the ice tea was "out of service". All of it...sweet, unsweetened. The sweet potato fries were basic as well. Nothing special at all. Definitely would not come back.

I would give this place 10 out of 5. Best sweet potato fries ever had, and really interesting and authentic sauces to try. A whole sauce bar. You can tell they are passionate. Vegetarians: i got the beyond burger and was dumbfounded. He cooks it better than anyone else i've ever tried to where i thought it was real beef. If you don't like the taste of beef then fair warning.

Excellent burgers, unique styles, and great chilli cheese fries. I recommend it! All sodas use real cane sugar!

We didn't read reviews before stopping in for lunch. Wish we had. Frozen patties. Cold cheese sauce. Warm beer. Zero service. I'd honestly give it a 2 star but as a small business owner that pains me.

It's Telluride people - everything is expensive in this town. We were just passing through having never been here. We checked out the town, the great old buildings and were having a kick spotting the Hollywood industry types in town for the film fest. We needed some lunch and saw the menu of this place and decided to give it a try. When standing in line I looked at the Yelp reviews and despite them still ordered lunch. I had noticed that most of the Yelp Elites gave this place a three and almost all of the one star reviews were from those who almost never review. I got their version of a chili dog which was pretty tasty and yes overpriced. The grilled cheese was just OK and overpriced. I did like the huge range of sauces, spices and condiments you got add to your meal. The service was friendly and the food came out relatively fast despite the crowds. They have some nice outside seating.

At the register they asked if we wanted vanilla or chocolate for our shake. We said vanilla and they made our shake with chocolate. It wouldn't of been a problem if they would of been upfront with us instead forcing us to pay for something we dont want. The vibe and atmosphere is cool but the service is not it.

Was really looking forward to my burger of the month while in Telluride. Feel like there's nothing better than a classic burger in the mountains, but this would be anything but that. Ya, Steamies was just not it. Should have known by the name that this place was going to literally steam the burgers. Guess it's kind of unique, but it wasn't for me. The servers are weird - for someone out of town, I feel like they expected me to know what I wanted to order. Sorry!The double cheeseburger tasted pretty basic, something similar to The Habit. Incredibly lackluster and underwhelming, even the fries were mid. Would have liked to enjoyed my one burger a month on something worthwhile. A friend recommended this, but I don't know why. For those that are heading up to Telluride and looking for a good burger, you're best trying something else.

I've been living in telluride for almost 2 years now, and steamies is the place i recommend to everyone that visits. the staff is kind and the service is super quick. no lines and amazing quality food. not to mention the welcoming vibe in there.

The stake and cheese sandwich was so delicious the service was ok. The ambiance was awesome.

We got in line at 6:10 and the imbecile working the register took 15-20 minutes to take the order of 3 people. After that, two people got out of line because it was taking so long and by the time I got to order it was 6:40. I asked for a Steamie burger with just cheese and steamie sauce and the cashier told me to "order of the menu." Despite the urge to slap the sh** out of him after the long wait, I ordered (finally) a burger with fries. The total price (without a tip, which I did not give), $24. Even though telluride is expensive, this burger is about the size of a hockey puck. I had to convince my dad to come here because this sh** tastes like trash. Safe to say that I will NOT be coming back. If you want a 16 dollar milkshake, come here!

Food quality... more than poor and when the cook tells you he does not like his own burgers, you know. Not sure how this place is surviving.

Burgers made with CO beef and krinkle fries. Add a strawberry shake and you've got the perfect reward after a bike up the Bridal Veil Falls trail. Try the blueberry ketchup!

Burgers were great!!!!! However, other sides were not worth the outrageous price. The broccoli cheese was more like broccoli water, 10/10 don't recommend ordering that. Stick with the burgers!!!!!

We ordered steamies burgers regular and with veg patty. Also the mushroom burger. Baso I think that's what it's called but veg. They were ok. Not anything spesh. I ordered the mushroom burger without cheese and they added Swiss cheese but they scraped it off! Wtf! What if I were allergic to dairy?! Unbelievable. The place needs to be cleaned more often. The prices are too high for what you get. The fries were meh too. Ambiance is chill but don't care for the decor or vibe. Service was slow and unfriendly. It could've been better.

There is no way that you can proclaim to have the "voted #1 burger in Colorado" and give your customers a sad excuse. Although the photo makes it look much better than it is...here is the breakdown. The proclaimed Wagyu beef patty has about the same flavor and texture of a McDonalds Quarter pounder...but at least their patty is seasoned. Maybe this establishment is called 'Steamies' because the Patties are not grilled, but steamed. Hence, the cheddar wasn't even melted, and the patty had sat in the Steamer already - anxiously waiting to disappoint another customer. The bun is dry and stale and they threw it on the grill to revive what's already been expired. The sauce that was added, a bbq ranch aoli did little to add any flavor to the burger, and the "crispy onion strings" given up being crispy a long time ago.

Great veggie burger options, perfect after a hike, right on the strip with a great view! Highly recommend for a good burger in a casual atmosphere.

This place is all about the dipping sauces. The blueberry ketchup is amazing and the bacon mustard. The sweet potato fries are my fav.

We ordered two things, and this was our first time here. The steamie Burger was way too much bun. The real disgusting part of our lunch was my veggie burger with the portobello mushroom. Never have I ever had a fried veggie burger let alone a fried portobello. Add on top of that and envision using the oldest grease you could possibly dredge up in the kitchen add grilled onions and a cold piece of cheese, that's what the veggie patty was all about. Disgusting. Not to mention the service I don't know how much weed there's smoking back there however shouldn't take 20 minutes to get a burger.

Food was way over priced and under delivers the burger was frozen patties. The chicken was dry and the cheesy broccoli was simply terrible. They do have a good ice machine..... but the drinks aren't that good. Being very honest, if I could, I would give a half star.

Very disappointing. Tried the CO Cobb Wedge Salad. Looked and tasted like it was pre packaged from a grocery store. The blue cheese came in a plastic cup (seriously, for a wedge salad?) and tasted vinegary and cheap. Then I find some of the cherry tomatoes they added are half black with blight. For 23 bucks, you'd think there'd be a salad offering better than bland cafeteria food.

I have been here before (Little under 2 years ago) and loved it. Although, when I went back recently I was utterly shocked at what I ordered v.s. what I received. I ordered the "Amped Up Salad" which was said to have had edamame, quinoa & other things.... but I did not receive 1/2 the correct ingredients on the menu. I ordered takeout, so I did not have the chance to go back Into the restaurant. If I could, I would ask for a refund. The fries are good, but I'm overall disappointed in Steamies. I will not be returning. Additionally, this meal cost $46 with tip. Not worth it.

We saw the poor reviews but ate here because every other place with a patio was packed @ 3 pm on a Saturday. Frustratingly slow service when ordering , and there weren't even very many people in line. The yeti burger was good but the sweet potato crinkle fries were limp and greasy. Do not get the fried artichokes. They are soft and a little mushy inside. Ridiculously expensive. We spent $100 for three beers one glass of wine, two hamburgers and fried artichokes and sweet potato fries. We'll never eat here again.

This didn't come close to the bar. I had a cod fish with fries. It came out as a deep fried fish, Cooked Hard on a bun with tarter sauce and lettuce. The two tiny portions of fish were so hard They kept falling out. And the fries were the standard Krinkle fries that come from any super market freezer. And add a simple side salad , no drinks 35.00. Come on! And the place was full. Nice ambiance.
