East Coast Institution Mamoun’s Falafel Expanding With 8 NorCal Locations - Eater SF

"Steap Tea Bar in Chinatown has a very chill new beverage, The Green Queen, made with matcha mint lemonade and 10mg of hemp-derived CBD, or cannabidiol, one of the active cannabinoids found in marijuana. For the last time, CBD won’t get you high or make you paranoid, but it does have vague and poorly understood anti-inflammatory effects, and it’s somewhat titillating." - Caleb Pershan

Google
I went here before with coworkers from SF who introduced me to Steap Tea and I remember it was good. However, on my second time I was so impressed with the quality and the perfection of the tea I ordered that I needed to write a 5-star review! I ordered the Roasted Milk tea with grass jelly, and I asked for as little sugar as possible. AND voila, not only it's just a tad sweet, the tea taste and scent were so real and the grass jelly tasted very fresh. The staff was nice and I will default to this place from now on whenever I visit SF!

Google
Barista was ridiculously nice and friendly. Totally willing to make suggestions & do all the customization we wanted for our drinks. I got a "Thai tea" Rooibos but with almond milk & honey instead of regular milk & cane sugar. Tea flavor was not overwhelming but was definitely there and it was good. Tapioca pearls were soft & chewy. I got 25% sweet and it was still sweet enough to be a treat without being overkill. Love the customizability (yay for dairy free & honey for sweetener!). Worth the price IMO, not really much more $ than Starbucks. I'm just visiting SF but if I have a chance I'd go again.

Google
Steap Tea Bar is a great refreshing take on old school tea drinks in the heart ♥ of Chinatown. I highly recommend visiting and trying a refreshing Mango Paradise.

Google
Worth ever penny I paid for this! Haha...I have wanted to try boba tea and figured while I was in Chinatown I'd look up a place. Steap was near by, had great reviews and this beautiful drink, how could I not! I love matcha and this was a perfect combination for it! Delicious!

Google
Solid boba tea shop. A little overpriced but I guess that's typical for trendy new hot spots. It's nice that they have unique flavors and offer customizable options. I removed one star for service - it took forever for them to acknowledge that I hadn't ordered yet and there was no one on line but me.

Google
There’s a free wifi and charging place to charge your phone. The place is clean and hip and it’s also good for solo travelers or groups. I really liked the young vibe! Also, boba tastes really good and there are lots of different kinds of menus

Google
Got the honey green tea. The boba was good but the tea was a little watery. Creative toppings and free wifi.

Google
Very unique boba tea, and it actually tastes really really good!! Will definitely come back again!

Yelp
Amazing service! I always order the dirty milk tea (brown sugar) and it comes with boba already. I miss their big jumbo buckets, and this location had them!! Definitely intend to share this location with my friends and family!! 10/10!!!

Yelp
Oh how I missed STEAP! One of the best bubble tea shops that I once keep coming back for. The first time I tried Chia Chai, I'd written a review about that place and everyone had been so crazy about it! Tibear looks like a sorry version of its predecessor and will have not too many customers swinging by. It's interior was still the same with different colors to replace the former. Its drink options a little different from the time I came to STEAP. Can't be helped, so it's time to choose. Pictured below looked like iced matcha latte, but it's not. It's Thai Green Tea. Its newest flavor was nothing compared to Uji matcha green tea; therefore, it's just like the authentic Thai iced tea, made with artificial food coloring even if pandan flavor was added to the mix. I don't mind the Thai bobarista since she's doing a nice job making such a new drink for me. There are better bubble tea shops like By Me Boba and Yi Fang that I might go to during hot weather days. Tibear wasn't bad at all; I'll be coming back here if I'm moody.

Yelp
Cute little boba place in china town. Service fast fast. Boba was bobalicios I would come back again

Yelp
I've tried Tibear in Berkeley before and so when looking for boba spots in Chinatown, I recognized the brand and decided to give the one here a shot! Was craving a mango sago and they have a twist on it here -- mango grapefruit sago. Pretty quick ordering process and the drink was ready soon after. Nothing crazy about the drink, pretty standard and would come again!

Yelp
Got a hot pink peach refresher with boba. Fruity, tasted of dragonfruit and peach. Boba were sweet and a bit on the soft side, though still separated not clumped; though a bit pricy at $1 to add. Was served quickly. Some bar seating inside.

Yelp
I've walked by Tibear but never walked in. I used to go to the previous store here a lot pre-pandemic. I love the pink interior decor--it's Lotso-(from Toy Story 3) themed, so cute. Service is good. They have nice deals if you pay cash, which makes them stand out from other places in the area. I enjoyed my boba drink and will be back to try others.

Yelp
Thanks to the Mayor of SF Chinatown for recommending this place to me. The owner of Tibear was working that day and made my overall experience a 5 star plus many return visits. Tibear has other locations around the bay, but this is their first in SF.

Yelp
My early visits were hits and misses. My latest stop here made me a fan. What changed? The gentleman who prepped my friends' and my orders pushed it over the top. As I waited for a text from some friends that I'd see a few minutes later, my visiting out-of-state friend placed her order on the iPad order station. While waiting for our drinks, the gentleman behind the counter was extremely friendly, asking my visiting friend whether she liked her drink which she did. As I waited for my order, I struck a conversation with said gentleman and he introduced him as a partner in the business, here from the original Berkeley store. He kindly asked me whether I wanted a particular lid color for the various drinks that I ordered (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=GT88qqNbrl_OqLxwlZUhpw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) and I left it up to him. When my order arrived, my jaw dropped as the Thai Tornado, regular ice and 50% sweetness (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=dCUD2AYlKrEZWLwrlyNyaw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), thoroughly impressed me. I've never had a drink in a bucket. The flavors were good, consistent with what I expected and the boba was soft with the right amount of chew. In talking about the container, he told us that he and many customers use the container to house plants. Great idea. Big thanks to Jackie who went above and beyond. He explained that, being their 1st store in SF, he was there to get a gauge on the tastes and palate of the customers in this demographic. He also told us to give him suggestions and comments so that he could find a way to better their business. In this day and age of businesses in a box, it is refreshing to see someone who wants to meet the customers' appetites and tastes. Take a bow, Jackie.

Yelp
Wow I loved my Mango Refresher! Perfect balance of sweet and refreshing, and they use fresh mango. The inside is very pink and bear themed (the one from toy story??), and there's only bar seating.

Yelp
They are pretty newly opened, I came by to try this place during the spring festival in Chinatown. The boba itself I liked the texture and sweetness of it. The milk tea was ok, not my cup of tea. But they have their best seller is the matcha with strawberry, next time will try that.
google avatar

Elaine N.

Yelp
I always love visiting cute boba shops and this place is one of them! I heard they recently opened this location and it's so cute now it's decorated with cute stuffed animals, fuzzy pillows! Anyways, we got the Strawberry Cheese Milk Tea, Lychee Sparkling, QQ Mochi Milk Tea, Mango Grapefruit Sago, and the Hot Pink Peach Refresher drinks! Out of the drinks I tried, my favorite was the Strawberry Cheese Milk Tea. All the drinks were good, but I was just in a dessert type of mood that day. I'd recommend this place! The drinks are good and this place is very cute inside too!

Yelp
Such a a cute spot! I've been to the Berkeley spot so I wanted to try their SF location too. Their bench full of bears and also street sign beat is a nice little display for photo op. Me and bae tried their drinks: QQ Mochi milk tea, Thai tornado, and Strawberry matcha. I love their drinks with mochi in them , those are definitely my go to drinks. They have kiosk for self ordering or you can order up front. They're also a park across the street and a few blocks from the Chinatown touristy area, lots of things to do nearby. Hope you get to try them out.

Yelp
I like this boba milk tea place in SF I like the colors of it. I like about this Boba milk tea place because it's worth it. It's pretty cheap and the prices under $10 I also like the location of this place it's in Chinatown In SF. I hope they build one in the East bay cities like Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward, Fremont & San Jose. I like their Original Milk Tea without Boba in it it's smoother to drink
google avatar

Marilen R.

Yelp
The Mango Sago drink was delicious. However you'll be spending close to $8. My kid says it was worth it though, There was a sign that said there was a Lunar New Year promotion - get one drink get another for 50%off. But apparently the promotion was over already. So why was the sign still there!??? The guy did not honor the sign. Poor customer experience.

Yelp
10/10 for the Losto bear decorations and their boba drinks !! If you're a big fan of Lotso and love good boba , this new boba spot in Chinatown is where you definitely need to check out! There's quite some fans for Lotso , I saw someone with Lotso bear headband went to this boba shop to take photos ! My favorite drink was the mango grapefruit sago and salted cheese grape drink! So yummy and the cup lid is shaped as a bear , how cute is that ? Definitely check this boba spot out! The owner is super nice !
google avatar

Cathy L.

Yelp
This kid-friendly spot features adorable bear-themed decor + a bench adorned with cuddly bears! I tried their Thai Tornado, Mango Grapefruit Sago, and Matcha Tornado drinks-- all of which were yummy and perfectly balanced in sweetness The packaging is also incredibly cute. I especially love the bear lids and the Thai Tornado served in a bucket! The portions are generous, with the bucket easily shared between 2 people. With locations in San Francisco's Chinatown and Berkeley in the Bay Area, it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Plus, the owner is very friendly! If you're a fan of bears and boba, this is the spot for you!

Yelp
This Tiber location is their newer one - they have a Lotso theme here, instead of the Rilakkuma theme they have at their Berkeley location. The parking is horrible and hit or miss here, since it is in Chinatown. I ordered online, so it would be ready when I arrive, but it was not and it took about 15 minutes for just 1 drink. I watched the employees trying to figure out to make certain drinks, and was not sure, so that was probably the orders were backed up a bit. Not much service either, you can either order online or on the kiosk (one of the kiosks was placed where the seating is, and someone was sitting right in front of the kiosk, so I feel like that is not the most ideal spot). I am not the biggest fan of their jasmine milk tea, so I ordered their QQ Mochi Milk Tea, since it is a popular drink as well. The drink was alright, it tasted bit too dark and strong for me - the mochi was the only part of the drink that I really enjoyed. It was about $8 (with a small operating fee, which I have not seen other spots charge for). Overall, it is a cute little shop, so 3 stars for the ambience.

Yelp
Ti-Bear is so YUMMY! I didn't think anyone would ever combine two of my favorite things: matcha & strawberry in a drink! But Ti-Bear did it! If you guys ever had the Haagen-Dazs Strawberry ice cream, it taste like that with matcha mixed in. Very creamy with a hint of matcha and strawberry chunks!

Yelp
first time here. do not want to skip this store while i am in san francisco. anyway, ordered through snackpass is easier cause afraid of parking space problem. i just asked my daughter to pick them up while i was waiting in the car. drinks are so good and refreshing. this is a recommended boba store...

Yelp
Great customer service. First time trying this place today with my son. Since we went later in the day they were sold out of the mango sago one so I got the basic milk tea boba. Not bad. The boba pearls could have been softer some were a bit hard. Perhaps they need to cook the boba more. The flavor of the milk tea was legit though. Next time I'm going to try the mango one that I don't get to try today. The decor was very cute and clean and had photo areas for people to take pictures with. Street parking only though.

Yelp
[IN A NUTSHELL] water down boba, more milk than tea, not sweet boba [VERDICT] - NOT APPROVED [RUN-DOWN] Came by this cute boba shop that I saw on yelp and I love Lotso so I immediately decided to come her and try their boba spot. Boy, was I disappointed. Their drinks were not that good and basically tasted like milk, not milk tea. When I walked in, there was no one around or he was in the back but the only time he got up was when he heard the "ding" for my order. [SCORE & ORDER] OVERALL: 2.5/5 Phoenix Oolong Latte $6.49 + $1.00 for boba (2.5/5) -oolong milk tea with black sugar boba -I decided to taste a new type of oolong, since I always get an oolong milk tea. And boy was this drink the most milkiest thing I have ever tasted. There was only a slightest hint of tea which was not good in my opinion. And I feel as if you could really judge a milk tea place but how they make a simple milk tea. The ratio was just off. The boba, also was not even sweet as well. It was super bland, especially, for calling it a black sugar boba and costing $1 extra for "regular boba" is crazy. At first I thought it was because it was called phoenix oolong but oolong is a black tea so therefore should have a more bold taste? I don't know... I wouldn't recommend getting this drink if you decided to come here. [SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE] (not reflected upon review score): Atmosphere, was super cool. I love the idea of Lotso being everywhere but I feel like that was the only thing good here. Service was ok. My boba drink started leaking and I was concerned and I asked the cashier for another cup and he just popped on a lid and it was still leaking. And the milk tea was all over my cup which I think is something that could've been easily wiped. Make sure to check your drink cap if you decide to come here. [TIME STAMP] NOVEMBER 2023

Yelp
I walked into an empty cafe, said I was in a hurry, asked if any snacks were quick. The girl suggested an egg waffle, told me 5 minutes. (Amazing! I love egg waffles!) 3 minutes in she was sitting and talking to the other lady behind the counter. I asked at 8 minutes if it was finished and reminded her that I had to be somewhere. She slowed down even more. At 10 minutes I said it didn't matter what it looked like, that I had to go. She still wouldn't hand it to me. At 12 minutes she was walking slowly toward the register with it then turned around to get the whipped cream. She wouldn't hand it to me because for some reason it still wasn't finished and at this point I had to leave without it because I was out of time. She knew before I even ordered that I was in a big hurry. It seemed like she was making a game out of making me late. I have no idea on earth why someone would do that but okay, I guess I just won't go back.

Yelp
5 paws up for Ti Bear! I was looking for some boba in SF after lunch and saw this new place on Yelp. They currently have a grand opening special - buy one get one 50% off. Just be sure to hit add the promotion when ordering before selecting your drink. I decided to order the Thai Green Float latte with 100% sweetness and light ice (as it sounded unique) and Lychee refresher with 50% sweetness and light ice. I absolutely loved the Thai Green Float latte. It was just the right amount of sweetness for me with the Thai ice cream on top and the high quality green tea mellowing some of the sweetness. My friend also enjoyed the lychee refresher as it was also not too sweet. The owner seemed very helpful and nice as she was checking in with us to see if we had any questions. As for the ambiance, I love how they have lots of Lotso bear. It's a cute place for pics and tea lol :)

Joshua Y.

Yelp
Let me say this, the place offers the most softest and tastiest boba I have had in Chinatown. Came in here on a whim as I was looking to try another boba place other than I go to. And boy was it delicious. I got the dirty milk boba at 50% sweetness level. This is one of popular drinks. Boy, TASTY! The boba was prepared right and was so soft. Many places don't prepare the boba right leaving it undercooked and rubbery. This place gets it right. Cute and childlike ambience with pink teddies everywhere. Had some available seating. I came here around 3 pm on a Saturday and had most of the place to myself. Will be back. :-)

Yelp
I was wandering Chinatown and ran into the grand opening of this boba spot. True test for me if it's a good drink, is flavor and texture of the boba balls. The lychee sparkling was pretty and refreshingly good!! The boba balls I added have great bounce! The mango grapefruit sago was 50% off for their grand opening special, so I had to get it. That drink was also real good as my dessert.

Yelp
Loved this Matcha Tornado! It wasn't too sweet. Great service! The decorations are adorable!
google avatar

Yelp
It is a boba shop next to Chinatown YMCA. Got so many times of drinking at Tibear, I try lemon on Tibear and it is very good and store inside is very very cute and their service was very good.
google avatar

Yelp
The drinks was good . Service slow look like 1 person work. I will comeback try more favors .
google avatar

Sarah N.

Yelp
I really love this boba spot! Every drink I have tried from them is sooo yummy. Their drinkable mochi is my favorite and I think their thai tea tornado is super unique since it comes in a fun bucket (perfect to share with someone) The store itself is super cute too- I'll definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Christopher G.

Yelp
There's boba, it's delicious, and there's photo op opportunities with Lotso! Would order more if my stomach was bigger!
google avatar

Bay R.

Yelp
Store layout amazing loved the decors. Came for the Grand opening buy one get one free but it was only free milk tea with boba. Ordered drink on kiosk machine. Drink arrived at a timely manner. The drink itself was ok. Milk tea was decent. Nothing that made me say Wow or like this is the best ever. Boba was a bit soft at first but as the ice melted, it made the boba much better. I requested less ice and it doesn't seem less to me. The drink wasn't fully all the way to the top too. The drinkable mochi was not good. It was warm when I first tried it which I don't recommend. Then I mix it and the flavor of the drinkable mochi was unbearable. I didn't like it. Almost taste like a plastic bag. Overall it's definitely more hyped online than when I tried it.
google avatar

jonathan h.

Yelp
The first location in Berkeley was a hit for me and not there in SF Chinatown, same quality and the vibe is slightly different more bold colors but it's the drinks that do it for me, the mango sago drink I had and the bucket sized tornado Thai tea tasted good all the way to the last sip
google avatar

Nana Y.

Yelp
Huge bucket of milk tea with boba! It was around $10 if anyone was wondering. Service was quick, and since there wasn't many people the time I went - plenty of seating. Cute decor. Not sure if I would go out of my way to come back but if I'm nearby I would probably get a drink.
google avatar

Achelles C.

Yelp
I love this place! The Lotso theme decorations are super cuteIt's such a great Instagram photo spot. Also love their drinks--not too sweet which I like it very much. I ordered milk tea with grass jelly and it's very yum. I also ordered mango sago drink. I myself is a mango lover and I think it's THE mango drink I want The server is also very nice. She's patient and asked me what drink do I want. It's worth the long wait at the busy grand opening. I've been to their first store in Berkeley and now I will keep supporting their second store in San Francisco in the future!!
google avatar

Bernie K.

Yelp
Best chinatown boba place. Saw a previous customer drop her drink outside and the owner got straight to making a new one. Got one for my sister whos a crazy boba critic and she loved it. 100% would come again.
google avatar

Truman C.

Yelp
I came with a friend a week ago and we redeemed the BOGOF offer where I ordered a Thai Tea Tornado in a bucket and we got a free regular milk tea w/boba. Split between us two, it came out to be ~$4.5 for each of us. My thai tea tornado was alright, as I've had better thai tea before.
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
Been to this place a few times and if you are a lotso fan, you will see them everywhere when you step inside. It seems there is only 1 worker most of the time but the drinks get done in a timely matter and you will be asked if they can swap toppings if they are out. The big bucket of boba can be shared between 2-3 people or you can get a drink for yourself.
google avatar

Cullen W.

Yelp
Really unique drinks! Love the atmosphere. Very clean and brand new. Gotta rest their jasmine green tea drink.
google avatar

Cindy V.

Yelp
Very good service, delicious drink, the thai tea I order is very good I can adjust the sugar level, love this place, I will come back to try another drink.
google avatar

James G.

Yelp
DISGUSTING!! I ordered a regular milk tea, but there was bugs inside! Looks like this place is VERY dirty and needs to be shut down. Only come here if you want bug flavored drinks!
google avatar

Jin G.

Yelp
Definitely the new cutest and the most delicious spot in SF! Came here for BOGO promotion. Love the QQ mochi milk tea and green grape cheese! Definitely will go back to try other drinks!

jocelyn z.

Yelp
Milk tea no fresh milk Ordered four items none of them are a good Sorry to say so but the milk tea is not my tupe

Amy K.

Yelp
Service was fast! Came here for their bogo event. Bought their Thai tea float, mango polmeo sago, strawberry matcha, mochi boba milktea, peach pink drink , strawberry cheese, and boba milk tea. Their Thai tea float is the chef kiss, durable amount of sweetness, and taste just as I remember. Strawberry cheese is one of my favorite. It's creamy . I love their Thai tea, cheese drink and mango, and peach. It was flavorful. The decor of the place is so pretty and cute with lotso bear. Couldn't have leave without a picture. I'm in love with the setting. It's near ymca . Would def come back to try all the drinks . Highly recommend their mango, peach pink, thai tea and cheese berry .

Lisa K.

Yelp
The interior is very pink and cute inside. The service of this boba shop was very fast. I got their hot pink peach refresher it tasted sweet and a bit of lemon taste.

Food Is L.

Yelp
Was not bad first few times. Not great location and pricey. But seems they may be closed? No open last few times we tried. No notice though.
