Meh.
A very average buffet, reminds me of the Ponderosa chain, without the slick graphics. Frankly, a bit overpriced given the area. Then again, given the weight of some of the patrons, maybe not...
I went for the Friday night Dinner Buffet with my biker buddies, and for breakfast the next day.
The dinner buffet was pretty sub par. They have a tiered pricing system, so when you take a quick glance and see all those choices, understand that the general dinner price does not include all the different bars.
Institutional mashed potatoes, thin bits of broiled steak, mac and cheese that tasted as if it came from a 10 lb can, canned green beans that were so over-boiled you could mash them. There were two highlights: The fried chicken was very good, and the dessert bar was also quite nice. They had a hot cobbler, which I topped with ice cream and strawberries. The cold salad bar did have quite a few options, which was nice, but none of the cold items were particularly good.
Breakfast the next day was about what you would expect: Eggs, Biscuits and Gravy, bacon, sausage, pancakes. All were done well, but nothing above average. Let's face it: it's hard to screw up breakfast.
The lady serving the soda and coffee was very attentive, and made sure we didn't go thirsty. Otherwise, the staff was generally not seen.
The best thing about it is its proximity to the Super 8 Motel.
Not "bad", as ancient buffet restaurants go, but not particularly good, either. 2 stars.
