My wife and I first went to this restaurant on our first wedding anniversary. We had a great time that night and the food was delicious. For our 10th anniversary I thought I would take us back to the restaurant because it was a great experience. However, this experience was disappointing from a food standpoint. I probably should have gone with seafood, but I decided to try the beef Wellington. I hadn’t had beef Wellington in a long time and when I saw it on the menu, I pictured a beautiful piece of fillet wrapped in a light pastry crust with the mushrooms and everything else that comes in a beef Wellington. That’s not what I got. My wife who likes seafood a lot, decided to also go with the beef. Wellington, compounding the bad decision. What we got was the equivalent of a beef Wellington hot pocket. A tiny piece of meat wrapped up in a premade bread. I asked for a medium rare and my wife asked for medium. We ordered creamed, spinach, mashed potatoes and another vegetable for the sides. Before ordering the entrée, we had the fried shrimp and she crab soup as appetizers, which were both outstanding. Our waiter, Cameron was attentive, professional, and kind. The manager was also professional and stopped by a couple of times to ask us how we were doing. We also had a couple cocktails, which were also excellent. When the Wellington arrived, I expected it to be filled with a decent size piece of meat. It was tiny and for $55 extremely disappointing. Moreover, mine was overcooked and well done. I would expect a restaurant like this one to make its own beef Wellington using a large piece of tenderloin and made from scratch. Especially for the money the premade likely frozen hot pocket was not worth the time or the money. I sent mine back and waited another half an hour for my new order to arrive. By this time, of course my wife had finished her dinner, but they did give me some shrimp to hold me over until the new one was ready. Although the entrée was extremely disappointing, the sides were delicious and the service impeccable. It was a beautiful night and we still had a good time. When my bill came, I was charged for both shrimp when I was under the impression that one would be comped. The manager took the check and said he would take care of it. When he came back, he had taken off the shrimp and one of the Wellington‘s. That’s what a good restaurant does. I didn’t have to ask, he took the initiative and made it right. I will go back, but I’m not ordering the Wellington again. It is a beautiful restaurant and I’m sure that there are many other things on the menu that are outstanding
