Stand-Up, Slang & Stellar Vibes at Stella & Fly 🎤🔥 This was my second time attending a comedy show — and Stella & Fly absolutely nailed it. The night was fun, engaging, and effortlessly entertaining. Every comedian brought something special to the stage, and I genuinely enjoyed them all. The vibe? Incredible. One of my favorite parts was the spontaneous interaction with the audience — lighthearted but super clever, making the whole experience feel personal and alive. The service was top-notch, and the space itself had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. What really stood out? The way the comedians used Gen Z slang — and actually explained it! I felt like I was learning, laughing, and lowkey upgrading my vocabulary at the same time. 😂✨ If you’re new to stand-up or just want a true NYC cultural experience, this is the place. I left with a smile, a few new words, and a great memory. Totally recommend!

I got two espresso martinis after 7pm. I needed a spot to do work with my laptop and there was wifi. There was live music and there is a no laptop rule on the ground floor, but laptop can be used in the lower level. It is a small lovely spot. I will definitely come back.

Stopped here on a walk this weekend with my husband and our dog, the staff are so friendly, our lattes & pastries were delicious and they even gave our dog a pup cup and a treat! Looking forward to coming back for their jazz night on Thursdays!

If you’re looking for a place in the neighborhood to have a private event this is the best you’re gonna find. Had my birthday party here a few weeks ago and it was the best experience I’ve had booking a private event in the city. Gary made everything so easy. No minimum spend, great price for an open bar, and they even set up karaoke for us. The space downstairs is so cute and we were able to decorate how we wanted and play our own music. Service was great throughout the night and everyone had an amazing time!! Everyone that works there is so nice and the drinks were incredible. Seriously couldn’t have been a better experience and would do it again in the future! 10/10

Google
Stella & Fly is a cute hidden gem on the Upper East Side! It’s rare to find a spot that seamlessly blends a cozy neighborhood coffee shop with a vibrant wine bar—and they nail it. Beyond serving great coffee and wine, they create such a warm and inviting atmosphere with their incredible lineup of events. From comedy nights to trivia and live music, there’s always something fun happening here, making it a go-to place for both unwinding and socializing. It’s exactly the kind of local hangout every neighborhood needs! The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the vibe is always just right—whether you’re looking to get some work done during the day or enjoy a laid-back evening with friends. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

Google
Once upon a time, this was my favorite coffee spot. The lattes were delicious and creamy and made with love. As you can guess, this love story ends in heartbreak. I don’t know what happened, I can only assume the baristas one day forgot how to use the espresso machine? The pictures below are the most disgusting representation of their take on an iced vanilla latte. I’ve gone in and received 12oz of Oatmilk and a FULL SHOT of vanilla syrup for $8. Please take a look at the photos, how do you seriously pass that off as a latte? This is just one example, the service has been consistently this bad over the past six months or so. I hate leaving a bad review, but am hopeful that the new ownership will provide some training :)

Yelp
Still a very welcome environment on a cold winter day. Nice and cozy spot and i noticed they have renovated the downstairs seating area which makes for a quiet respite when it's crowded in the main floor. Plus, they have bags of snacks now if you need something to munch on.

Yelp
Love this spot! You can come here for a hot cup of coffee or you can come here for a drink, totally up to you and how you feel in that moment! Got spot for solo dates too! Had gotten a cup of late and hot chocolate. The ambiance is sooo good! The lights were perfect, no big lights used, the playlist was nice too! Had a good time here! Fast service!

Yelp
Wonderful place for a good cup of coffee, their cappuccino is delicious and serviced in a really nice mug, friendly service, relaxed ambiance. There is a big room downstairs, quiet, good place to get some work done.

Yelp
Stella & Fly is still a favorite for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a drink in the evening with friends. It's walking distance from my apartment. The employees I've met during my visits are friendly and welcoming. It's clean and comfortable. I go early because it's very popular and I want to get a good seat!

Yelp
Good place, great vibe, good coffee. Will return for sure. Their pastries could be a lil better though.

Yelp
I love this place for a variety of reasons, but most importantly it's balance between casual coffee atmosphere and chic happy hour-eque vibes are what help this place stand out. Apparently the spot is family owned and you can tell by the level of service, with an attentive barista and I carefully tailored menu of drinks, even though this place is quite small. From 3 to 8 PM Monday through Friday, happy hour specials are available, including several dollars off wine, beer, and cocktails. They select a cocktail of the week which is listed on the whiteboard, and there is plenty of seating to listen to live music, and often jazz. They're also croissants and basic pastries available in case you're feeling "snack-y." You wouldn't recognize the level of complexity just from the outside but when you step inside, you'll feel the homey atmosphere that characterizes most of the upper east side.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite coffee shops on upper east side. Its a really cool looking bar/coffee shop with wifi, outlets, and a bathroom (that is very well kept and organized). It is a great place to study in the morning and get work done. The wifi does get a bit spotty at time so be aware. There is plenty of seating space for people to get work done (considering there is a whole basement of seating space, but not much sunlight is in the downstairs area). The service was really nice and attentive. I had one chai latte and it was delightful. I found myself sitting upstairs for hours just doing work with no concerns. Comfortable seating, a nice vibe (and the barista had an amazing music taste). I am not sure what time the "coffee shop" closes and it turns into a more of a bar vibe, but be sure to be aware of that. The lighting downstairs could be a bit brighter during the day. Lots of people coming in and out, and it can be hard to find seating upstairs (so if you want a spot be sure to be there early). The hours are a bit different from what they have listed online, so be sure to also call to check when they open. Loved it, got lots of work done, a few outlets, and wifi (that did crash at some point). In my opinion one of the best coffee shops on the upper east.

Yelp
What a cute coffee shop. They have limited seating inside, but they have a little hut outside for more seats. This is a great place to grab a coffee and a pastry and do work. Very chill atmosphere. I have heard that at night it turns into a bar and that some nights they have live music and performances. I have yet to make it to Stella and fly in the evening, But I am sure it is fun! Their iced lattes were tasty and their pastries looked good too.
google avatar

Jessie K.

Yelp
Had a few standard pastries (different types of croissants). Good wifi. Nice music and not too loud. There's a bathroom downstairs. I saw they had a food menu online, but in the actual cafe the only things on the menu were drinks, and then the small array of pastries. This could be because it turns into a bar at night, so the food menu could be a night-only thing. Not the most spacious (could maybe hold 10 individuals comfortably doing work?), but a nice spot to do work for a couple hours. There are some large flies for some reason, but they never went near my food/drink, just something I noticed.

Yelp
My FAVORITE UES coffee shop!!! The staff is super nice and this is a great place to meet writers, comics, and poets. Very much functions almost like an open office during the day, great coffee and fun energy always. At night they offer a variety of open mics and other weekly events, I wish there were more coffee shops like Stella and fly! Pros: Great people, great coffee, tons of tables, WiFi, room downstairs, outside area for working as well, great environment for writers, great meeting place, staff is incredible. Cons: I wish there were more places like Stella and fly in NYC!!!

Yelp
super cute! much smaller than i expected, it's a coffee shop by day and bar by night. super cute lighting! cheese board was pretty good, adding toasted croissant slices to the board was a nice touch. unsalted mozzarella doesn't belong on a cheese board but i can let that go, all in all great experience!

Yelp
Great little neighborhood place for working during the day, going on dates, grabbing a drink at night, or a coffee during the day.

Yelp
More of my intense jealousy of the amenities on the UES compared to the UWS. Coffee bar/wine bar/liquor bar... it has something for everyone. During the day it's a great way for WFH people to get a change of scenery and still get some work done with the free wi-fi. In the evening, a musician sets up in the corner and it's a whole 'nother vibe. I haven't found anything like this combination on the UWS and I'm mad about it at this point. COVID restrictions blessed them with an increase of outdoor space. There's seating downstairs but I've never used it so I have no idea what it looks like. The bar itself is cozy during the day, a bit cheek-to-jowl when it gets busy later. That's why the outdoor space is a blessing. There are also small bites. Literally small so get a selection. Olives, nuts, chips, dolmas (spicy rice wrapped in grape leaves). But if you need something more substantial than nibbles, there's a tasty grilled cheese, grilled ham & cheese, and chicken pot pie (which I haven't had yet). There are also charcuterie and desserts. When I come I always get the cocktail special which is always tasty, but there's an entire coffee & wine menu. You could spend the entire day here and have all your imbibement needs met. Plus there are adorable dogs to pet! That takes it over the top. Maybe I just need to move already.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this place any harder -- especially if you are on a date. 10/10 atmosphere, crowd, drinks, food - you cannot go wrong here, and it's all shockingly affordable for the UES. I've been going on and off for the past few years and every single time, every bartender I've had, every drink, every little bite has been the peak of what I would expect of a chill upper east side joint. This place gets swarmed nightly because they are just that good and the live music that plays weekly is quite good and provides an element of class and excitement that is sorely missing from New York these days. You should have already been reserving your seats. Also, sit downstairs sometimes! It's lovely.

Yelp
I really like Stella and Fly! We came here on a Saturday morning for some pastries and coffee. There was unfortunately only one server / barista at the counter at a very crowded time so there was a bit of a wait. I got the iced latte and the Nutella croissant and both were SO delicious. I would definitely want to come back for the wine at night!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing ambiance, great place for a drink with friends or a first date. Lots of people here on weekends

Yelp
Absolutely love Stella & Fly - the best espresso martinis!! The staff is so nice as well. During the day the coffee and lattes and food hit the spot. A perfect neighborhood spot!

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop in yorkville. Baristas made a super good coffee (and I'm a big critic), which was so addictive I wanted another. There's a Good amount of places to sit, and a pleasant vibe. A gem on the UES
google avatar

Yelp
A very cute location, seems to be popular amongst the young crowd. I have to unfortunately complain about the coffee tonic i ordered, it was absolutely horrendous, equal to drinking gasoline or detergent. It was shockingly distasteful and really a sad waste of $5. This needs to be taken off of the menu immediately - i wish i didnt walk out because i would've asked for something else. Maybe i'll give them a second try.

Yelp
Went Monday during day for a small celebration and girl behind counter was completely clueless My boyfriend and I ordered beers which she bizarrely opened both cans and poured then into glasses OVER ICE! and no it wasn't cider !! then about 20 min later she asked my boyfriend the time and he said 2:45 and she said oh sorry you can't get the happy hour price until three ok maybe that's true but who asks the customer the time and then says that? here's a clue, check your watch check your iphone etc and don't say that out of nowhere also don't pour beer into a glass filled with ice maybe some people drink it like that but i never saw it and at least ask first She is clueless !

Yelp
Nice place, good coffee. However, The server was not welcoming or friendly, she didn't greet us, thank us or seem to want us there. Thus would not return.

Yelp
Super cute and tiny cafe - I went here one Sunday afternoon to get some lemonade and read my book. This place was perfect for that vibe! They had both indoor and outdoor seating - but since I had my book, I wanted to sit on the couch and so picked the indoor option. The person serving was so friendly and awesome - she didn't have my lemonade on the menu but offered to make one for me! It was so refreshing, and even flavored with a fruit! I also got the grilled cheese which was pretty standard. I sat there for around 3-4 hours, eating and reading my book, and it was such a perfect Sunday afternoon!

Yelp
I am an Elite Yelper & believe it is so important to support small business, especially during trying times like Covid. No one should be asked to leave. Business is business & it is in poor taste to do so. Mind you, I wrote a review prior to this one which had nothing but praises. I was so impressed by the food & drink at Stella & Fly, that I boasted to multiple people including my family at how wonderful the food & service was here. This evening I met with a former co-worker who was my superior at a former employer right out of college. I wanted to impress her & felt whole heartedly that I made the right decision choosing this establishment. My superior was a Caribbean American women & the establishment is an Irish bar. I will elaborate further as to why I am mentioning the background of this women. We arrived about 6pm and completed our meal by about 8pm. We were told by the owner Nigel that," we must leave due to incoming reservations." At the same time another table departed so we could have been offered that table. Keep in mind, other patrons had been seated longer than us and were not asked to leave. When we told the owner we wanted to order coffee & dessert, we were further insulted and told the following; " oh ok!! well the only tables available have no heat & you definitely don't want to sit at this table, because the stools are high. Why don't you sit over there in the corner but there is no heat ok?" If that wasn't a rude gesture & insulting please explain how you are justifying these actions. Mind you, the temperature was 41 degrees. We noticed NO patrons entered after we left, & where we were seated, rats & mice were running back and forth into garbage on the street. I have never been so embarrassed & disgusted in my life. My ex co-worker was the only Caribbean African American in the restaurant. I really felt discriminated against, and quiet honestly shocked!!! I will "NEVER" on principle of my up bringing, ever visit here again!!! Sorry Nigel but you took an amazing experience prior, and really reduced it to rubbish.

Yelp
I came here for breakfast with a friend and I'm so happy to have found such a cute local breakfast place near me. The iced coffee was delicious but I was most amazed by their Nutella croissant. Will definitely be back! A few people were using their laptops so this is also a great location to work in!

Yelp
I have decided that this place is my spot. It's the perfect neighborhood coffee shop/bar. I love the idea of a place that during the day is a coffee shop and at night turns into a bar. Not only is that place a great idea, it's so cute, love all the little lights, decor is perfect for the space and all the staff are really great. The best part, is the pumpkin espresso martinis, there's no other place that makes a pumpkin espresso martini, or even just a regular espresso martini as good as this place. Through the ever growing espresso martini trend, I have complied with my basic nature and tried several and this one really is the best. I don't know how they do it, but it's not to sweet like many of the others I've tried. If you go here for nothing else than an pumpkin espresso martini or a regular espresso martini it's worth it. They also have live music every Friday which is very fun, just a great little spot :)
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
Cozy vibes with seating on the main floor, downstairs and outside. Live music on Friday nights was I got the peach margarita but couldn't really taste the peach flavour... the juice bomb beer that my friend had was great!
google avatar

Sandy Y.

Yelp
This place becomes a small little bar when it gets dark - can be a low-key first date spit for anyone in the area. If you sit outside, take note that service might not be as great. However, they have a good selection of wines by the glass.
google avatar

R B.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere, great place to sit outside for a drink or go in during the day and work. Great service, attentive. Really a lovely hang out spot.

Tara N.

Yelp
Stella & Fly perfects the rare feat of creating a homey and welcoming environment in the bustling city. Depending on when you come in, the space oscillates between a coffee shop and wine bar. The staff is awesome, with many customers that seem like regulars and friends, and there are great seating options both inside and out with both high top and low top tables for small to big groups. A couple of things to note: - There is Wifi available until it converts to a wine bar in the evening, then they request no laptops around 6pm - There is both open and covered seating outside - They offer pastries (like plain and filled croissants), but seem to run out by the early afternoon at least some days - There is also an awesome sounding small menu with affordable small bites to pair with your drinks, need to come back to try this - They allow you to open a tab while you're sitting rather than paying right away, a huge part of feeling welcomed and not rushed out. Love this! - They seem to be dog friendly, not saying anything about my pup joining my table and offering water bowls inside - I loved the cold brew cream, tastes similar to the starbucks version (unsweetened), give it a try! - My only complaint: alternative milks and $1.50, ouch!!! Great place to catch up with a friend or work! Definitely planning on to being a regular here.

Kimberly C.

Yelp
We found this place online as we were looking for happy hours in the neighborhood. This cute, quirky little place was a nice find I might have walked past. Cocktails were good and only $10 up until 8 p.m. (late for a happy hour!). Most of the menu options were not available (grilled cheese or nothing) but it was not a big deal. They have different events during the week. Last night was stand-up comedy, which i only discovered on my way to the restroom downstairs. They weren't very talented but it added to the charm.

Emily C.

Yelp
They have an event room downstairs that is free for use - perfect for a birthday party, happy hour etc. I hosted an event there and they were extremely accomodating Drinks are well priced Live music on Fridays
google avatar

Carly F.

Yelp
One of the best spots on the UES. From the delicious croissants & coffee in the morning to their incredible espresso martinis in the evening - you will not regret stopping by! They also have live music on the weekends and happy hour Monday - Friday
google avatar

Rachel Z.

Yelp
A truly awesome place to work and hang out. Staff are helpful and kind. Wine and light bites are delicious. Downstairs area is peaceful and quiet even when the main floor is in evening party mode.
google avatar

Benson Y.

Yelp
Scrolling through the reviews here, I will admit up front that my experience with Stella & Fly is the outlier, not the norm, so take that as you will. I had some time to kill while in the UES so I wanted to get some work done on the ol' laptop and get something caffeinated in the process. Now, I saw Stella & Fly and it immediately appealed to me. Long wood counter, some spots to nestle into and work on an article for my web site. It also has a big window letting light flood in. Physically speaking, this place is gorgeous! I looked across the street and saw that there was a Starbucks. Now, I'm all down with hitting up a Bucky's now and then, but I am also a firm believer in supporting local businesses that are not parts of giant chains, so I stepped into Stella & Fly. Saddling up at the bar, I asked the barista if they had a Chai Latte (if you read my reviews regularly, this will not shock you). The young lady...had no idea what I had said. So I repeated "Chai Latte?" and she replied in the affirmative. Great! I ordered a Dirty Chai and she went to work. I sat down, flipped open the ol' laptop and started logging on to get to work. The young lady quickly produced....a cup of tea with milk. I confess for about five seconds I had no idea what to say. So I looked at her face not wanting to brow beat her with my order but needing her to understand. I asked her "Um...no...a Dirty Chai Latte? Like, a Chai Latte with a shot of Espresso in it?" She acknowledged what I said....and quickly went to check with a coworker on what it was I wanted. Soon, another employee came out and explained to her what it is I had ordered and went to work. Now, in between the time I put in my order and the time the second employee had come out, another customer had come in and put in an order for two drinks. And....her drinks were made before mine. Even better? I was told that at 6PM I had to turn my laptop off (it was about 5:40). I grant, they told me if this was an issue I could leave no harm, no foul. I figured I had enough time to post my article and head out, but I have never felt so rushed going to a cafe before. Eventually my Chai Latte showed up on the bar...sans lid. The lids had been put away at this point, but after staring at my drink helplessly for a minute, they offered me a lid. I quickly finished my article post and packed up to go. The employee who whipped up my latte was very apologetic and I told her it was okay. After all, it wasn't *her* policy, she was just enforcing it. For the record, both employees were very sweet and clearly had the best intentions. My mistake was thinking that this was a cafe like Think Coffee where I could get some work done and enjoy a brew. It is more of a wine bar where they want a very specific (non-laptop) environment and that's cool, I just think that they may want to put up a sign or something letting you know what the expectations of the customers are. In case you're wondering, the latte was terrible. The flavor was very...cardboard like and I got no hit of Chai spices. I wound up going to Starbucks.
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
What a gem this place is! Great coffee (the iced latte is to die for!), lots of outdoor seating, now that the warm weather is finally here, and delicious croissants. I've also been here for wine and had a lovely glass of merlot. They had live music the night before - sorry to have missed it. I'll be returning over and over. Super friendly service and that's worth mentioning!

Yelp
Okay just had to add to my other review that stella & fly has FREE TAMPONS this place is so progressive and amazing. There is nothing like this place. 10/10

Yelp
Incredibly cute and intimate bar on the UES. They have happy hour until 8pm and live music on certain nights. It is also a coffee shop during the day of which I plan to work from when I don't have a lot of calls. I ordered a decaf expresso martini and a pink Negroni. Both were great and I hope to return soon for drinks.

Alyssa S.

Yelp
Seems like a cute place to sit and share a coffee or glass of wine. The concept is good but sadly the coffee is not. Also there is no air conditioning!
google avatar

Donielle M.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! It's a quaint coffee, beer, and wine bar located in the UES. It provides a French flair to it when you visit, making it a cute spot for a date or just to catch up with friends. It's a smaller venue had only 1 waitress for the whole establishment at the time of visit (Having 1 waitress surprisingly worked out pretty well that night). The waitress was sweet and personable, and allowed us adequate time to peruse the menu and make our decision. This establishment carries a nice selection of wines from Italy, France, California, and Spain. Happy hour runs until 9 pm...yes, 9 pm! (Happy hour wine costs $9). In addition to drink specials, they have a menu of cheeses, charcuterie, and various "bites" to choose from. I definitely recommend visiting this quaint shop, as I thoroughly enjoyed myself when I did.

Yelp
Comfortable, cozy wine bar upper east. We stopped by for an after dinner cocktail, and enjoyed the festive cozy vibe with a Christmas tree and simple, clean decor. Groups of friends gathered around the bar and the overall vibe was warm and inviting. Bartender was very friendly and the red wines we ordered were great. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
When we finally noticed this inconspicuous cafe/bar had opened up around the corner, we thought we had to try it. And then we kept noticing buzzing it always seemed... and for good reason. Great homing spot. Came here for Trivia Night (which is every Tuesday @ 8PM). It was so much fun! The place was packed at the seems. Plus, happy hour is Mon-Fri 6-9PM all beers $5!

Yelp
This is my first time here and I am infatuated with this place. It's very clean, and neatly decorated. The staff is so friendly, which is the main reason I began looking for a new coffee shop. The shop I used to go to had a rather uninviting staff. I cam here to do some work and felt very comfortable in the space. They serve coffee, pastries, and wine. I think it is nice combination. I had a coffee and brownie, the brownie I really enjoyed. I can't say much about the coffee, just because I feel like I'm not an expert. There is a nice lounge downstairs, good for a group of friends to get together and enjoy wine. One of the small things that I loved is that they had lotion in their bathroom, which is appreciated.
google avatar

Olga D.

Yelp
The daytime (12-5) barista whose name I'm sadly forgetting is the absolute best, and has fantastic taste in music.
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
I love this place. The decor inside is so friendly but modern and the bar tenders and baristas are so nice. The happy hour wine is very very good, get the pinot noir, and their meat and cheese are excellent. Thursday is the best day because that's when they have live music. Absolutely love this spot for coffee, wine, and enjoying music.

Anastasia S.

Yelp
Very disappointed, running late for work at 7:30am and no coffee had to get either a cappuccino or flat white. Also could not pay in cash only card. Not the first time this happened to me.

Yelp
Super cute cafe turned bar in the neighborhood. I needed a place to read and do art for a few hours so I stopped by mid afternoon on Friday. Seats weren't hard to find (and later I found out the downstairs space is HUGE), and the atmosphere is quite cute. The chairs (high rise) aren't very comfortable so if you can snag a seat on the couch benches by the window, that's a win. The downstairs is also pretty dim so not conducive to working. Conducive to dating and conversation and napping. The owner/barista was super nice--I wasn't feeling like intaking caffeine but wanted something hot so I asked if they could steam some almond milk for me. He said he could! I super appreciated that. I tried their almond croissant as well, and that was fine. The steamed milk was better hahah

Yelp
Stella & Fly is my favorite spot in the upper east side! The ambiance is fantastic whether you're enjoying your time inside or outside. It's also dog friendly. My pup enjoys it just as much as I do. :) The mornings are great for a coffee catch-up or getting some work done while during the evening you can enjoy their delicious wine or cocktails with friends or a date. During non-covid times, the live music and trivia nights are a lot of fun. The owner and staff are all so lovely. Definitely a must-visit.

Was looking for a late night spot to catch up on some reading and enjoy a non-alcoholic beverage. Was told that "coffee and tea are done" at night. Really? It's just a tea bag and some hot water! Sad!
