I tried the ube flavored ice cream and it was delicious. Elliot, the cashier, was super friendly and she gave several samples so I can pick out my favorite. I would definitely go again to try different flavors.

This is a different ice cream experience. Their flavors are unique and the combinations are original. Their MO is a small window and outdoor seating. I missed the experience of coming into an ice cream shop and exploring flavors. You almost feel rushed to just choose a couple of flavors and pick something to eat when you stand at a window. I also felt that the ice cream was less an ice cream and more a dessert experience. This doesn't take anything away from the ice cream itself but it is very filling and not something I'd want to get after a meal. I got the ube and the creme fraiche and clementine cake flavors. Contrary to what the other reviews say, I wasn't a big fan of the ube, even though I was so looking forward to it. It was a little bitter for my palate. The creme fraiche was decent - tangy and sweet, just like a sweet orange/lemon cake. I tried some of the other seasonal flavors - baklava cheesecake, pandan pistachio and the black sesame and those flavors were definitely not something I wanted to have! I consider this chain to be unique and I'll give them their due. Their ice cream is good, just not something I would like for ice cream. I'll stick to my Salt and Straw flavors :)

My favorite ice cream place ever!! Love their ube! I try different flavors every time I come and they are all great but my fave will always be ube! I bring pints to friends and family back in LA every time. 💜

One of the best ice creams I’ve ever tasted. I got the sticky rice mango flavor and Ube flavor. Both were super good and the mango ice cream felt freshly made. My fav for Ube flavor as it was unique. Overall the experience was good. Definitely I’ll vouch this place to my friends.

My first time at Stella Jeans. Interesting flavor options. I like that they have vegan options. Unfortunately they were out of one of the flavors I wanted. I got 1 scoop, for $6.75, which is quite high. The scoop wasn't that big, but it was sufficient. The ice cream was very creamy, almost too creamy, if that's a thing. The flavor wasn't all that impressive, it was Browned butter pecan. There wasn't much "browned" about it. And the butter pecan was quite mild and seemed unbalanced. It is decent ice cream, and they have a variety of unique flavors that I haven't seen before. I'd go back to try their vegan Pistachio, which is what they were out of today. I wouldn't get the Browned Butter Pecan again. But the customer service was spot on, and even with 2 people in front of me, the line moved quickly.

I haven't been to a stella jean location for more than a year and was happy to pass by this spot after a dinner with a friend :) lots of parking around the area, and is very close to a lot. We stopped by around 8:45 near closing but the employees were very kind and patient with our requests to try samples. It's located in a small corner of a plaza so it could be hard to find - it's a window storefront. I love their selection of vegan/non-dairy ice cream and their seasonal flavors. This time around I got their strawberry oat which was great - I love the crumbl thats mixed in and the strawberries tasted fresh, not artificial. It is also dairy free! Will be returning to their locations again.

The matcha pistachio ice cream was decent, though it leaned more towards matcha than pistachio in flavor balance. The mango sticky rice was enjoyable, but could have been sweeter for my palate. However, the brown sugar pecan flavor was the one that hit my sweet tooth just right. Expenses: 1/1 Had a kid's scoop and one small scoop and it came out about 10 dollars. Pretty steep but the ice cream was enjoyable and they even had a dairy free option so worth it overall. Location: 1/1 The staff was friendly and patient. They didn't make me feel like an annoying customer for trying three different flavors before deciding on one. After trying a two flavors and noticing that they weren't sweet enough for my taste, I just asked "What is your sweetest flavor?" at which point the brown sugar pecan was recommended. Parking lot wasn't huge, but there's street parking nearby. Was able to pay using Apple Pay. Possibility of a Future Visit & Recommendation: 1/1 With its creative flavors and friendly service, this ice cream shop is a place I'd happily visit again. I have to come back to try their butter cake cookie ice cream sandwich at some point!

In a nutshell, their ice cream is GREAT! I had to try their Sweet Rice Mango. It is amazing and highly recommended. They are literally in a "booth" where you walk up to order--no inside seating. Of course, you can get free small spoon samples before making a purchase. I deducted a star due to the price (though everything is expensive these days) and the lack of parking. I will be going back!

Stella Jean's is a charming ice cream shack where you order from a window and sit on a shared patio with nearby food spots. It's a cozy setup and makes for a great casual date spot! We each got a kid-sized portion, which was more than enough. My partner had the Sweet Tea + Peach Jam, and I went with the Strawberry Oat Crumble--both were delicious and vegan-friendly! They also offer a lot of unique flavor options, and they let you sample, which was a big plus. Even though it was busy on a Saturday afternoon, the line moved quickly. All in all, it's one of the better ice cream spots in SoCal. Definitely worth a visit!

Yeah ok this place is amazing haha. My friend took me here and I was blown away. I went with the ube and s'mores and I absolutely loved it. Ice cream was not only awesome, but it was a straight vibe all around the area. Cool place to hangout with some ice cream and chill.

The whole courtyard here is great, and this stop for ice cream is a perfect beachside option. They have unique flavors and friendly employees at the window. They're a pretty small spot and had about 12 flavors to choose from, with many those flavors rotating with the season and holidays. We tried the Ube and toffee with a fresh made waffle cone, which was absolutely delicious.

The area is really cute. There is a nice patio area with a good amount of tables. There is a lot of shades areas and heat lamps. I ordered a scoop of the s'mores ice cream in a cup. The cashier was nice and service was fast. I enjoyed it!

Found out about Stella Jean on YouTube and wanted to come try the mango sticky rice flavor! Tucked behind a restaurant, you just need to follow the sign to find it. I got 2 scoops in a cup. Ube and mango sticky rice. + super good portions + loved the texture in the ube! +/- Mango sticky was more mild than I thought, but it was good Overall, I would come here again! I know Handles (?) nearby is super popular too, but support local business!

So excited to have finally tried the famous Stella Jeans! This location was a small booth with outdoor communal seating. We sampled a few flavors but ended up getting a double scoop with strawberry oat crumble and ube pandesal toffee. Both were tasty, nicely flavorful and not too sweet!

Ordered yummy ice cream. They have special flavours at this kiosk. I ordered mango sticky rice. Even with a cold, I could taste the mango and sticky rice. This is fantastic!!! I will be back

Really good ice cream. It's thick and creamy- not much of a chewy pull, but the dense bite is still there. I sampled a bunch of the flavors- the hojicha and matcha had strong flavors, but the ube here was the winner. The base of the ice cream has a balanced ube taste (no cloying fake ube taste and color here) since they use natural ube. They also use homebaked pandescal with the toffee for the most unique blend of flavors. You taste the ube ice cream at first, and then are left chewing the toffee bits for a butterscotch experience. 5 stars!

I sampled this ice cream at the Del Mar Food and Wine Festival and I've been dreaming of it ever since. The staff was accommodating and I sampled both The Pumpkin and the Ube flavors. The Pumpkin Cream Cheese is outstanding. Little chunks of Pumpkin bread and tiny pepitas give it the texture you're looking for. The ube-toffee is to die for! That's why we couldn't control ourselves before taking the photo. The shop is adorable and fresh and we'll definitely be back!

Yum! Yum! Yum! Located in the Cottages, I'm so happy we got our own Stella's here in North County San Diego. I love their Ube Toffee ice cream, and with the Strawberry Basque Cheesecake, it's a winning combo. I ordered my ice cream with a cookie; Stella calls it the open face sandwich. It was the perfect amount. One of my friends got the Calamansi Creamsicle in a waffle cone. Pretty authentic Calamansi flavor and delicious! The waffle cone had a crispy and slight cinnamon flavor. It was soo good. Service at Stella was great, and the Cottages always bring such a lovely, coastal vibe. Make sure to stop by here. It's quite the treat!

I gave 5 stars because not sure there was room for any improvement. The ice cream we ordered was creamy and delicious. Flavor was out of this world. Not your typical ice cream for they offer dairy free options on some of their flavors. In addition, a single serving size in a cup was plenty for an adult. I will return again to try the other flavor options on their menu. Service was helpful in such that you can try the ice cream before committing to an order. There is a communal seating area for surrounding restaurants to eat the ice cream. Really enjoyed the dairy free option. I would recommend to friends and family.

The place is small and cute! Just a pop up place with a window to order. Really fun flavors & lots of Filipino inspired flavors!!! Love the representation. The service was amazing and the ice cream was super creamy and delicious! We got the double scoop of the brown butter pecan and mango sticky rice flavors. The brown butter pecan was super rich and very creamy. Would definitely recommend! The mango sticky rice tastes literally like mango sticky rice. Even the color separation of the ice cream reminded me of mango sticky rice, so if you like that, I'd definitely recommend this! It's a small shop where you just order from the side and take a seat at one of the outdoor seating areas in the courtyard next to it.

Love, love, love the unique flavors they offer. I tried their mango sticky rice and it was refreshing and true to the traditional flavors of the Thai dessert. The little shop is hidden from the main streets though. It's in a little area with other restaurants and there's an open seating area. They had plenty of tables and benches available. Cute little pit-stop area.

Cookies AND ice cream?! Those are my main food groups!!! The cone here is the greatest! The ice cream is creamy and delish. There is a shared patio and bathroom. Located in the new cottages in the CBad village, it's easy to find free parking.

Yummy ice cream with amazing flavors! It's located in a cute little courtyard with tables, chairs, and other food/drink places. There is no interior seating, you just order at the window and they give you your order when ready. The usual flavors are interesting without being too far out there. The flavor combos just work and are really good. We got ube pandesal toffee and mango sticky rice. The seasonal flavors get a little more unique but still sound delicious. I've been here twice and the staff are always quick and friendly. Cute spot with great quality ice cream! I'll definitely be back!

Following our yummy lunch. We walked 2 doors down and got some ice cream. Mango sticky rice and chocolate banana. Very nice. Fast service and we sat in the nice courtyard.

Got the kids scoop of the mango sticky rice- it is a cold gummy-ish consistency which is not my favorite but it is vegan so maybe thats why? I didnt love love this flavor so maybe i would go for a different flavor next time. Staff is very friendly and there r alot of flavors available.

I can't believe I'd never heard of this place. This Stella Jean's is located in a small outdoor plaza and is like a booth where you order and eat outside. The worker was nice and let us try as many flavors as we wanted. I was debating between the Milk & Cookies and the Ube Toffee ice cream, but ended up getting the latter because the flavors tasted even more poignant and the texture was creamy and varied with the toffee bits. I'm still craving this place!

Nice window stall ice cream shop surrounded by other similar stores/eateries. Unique flavors of which we tried Ube Pandesal and Smores in this day. Next time would love to try their Mango Sticky Rice. Flavors remind me of Wanderlust up where we are but on this Carlsbad visit it was nice to see Stella Jean's flavors. Loved their Ube and they've got pints that you can grab too. We got one split scoop that let us try the two flavors. It's nice to be able to sit under shaded shared seating with the other restaurants. Don't be scared of any lines, service moved fast and there were 8 people in front of us. Definitely recommended coming out here to give them a try!

Checked out this new ice cream spot in Carlsbad Village recently with my office group. It's tucked a little away from the street in the 4 new little tiny restaurants just down from the post office/just next to Le Papagayo. The stores in front are Shootz Tacos and the Plot Express to help you find it. Outdoor seating only in a cute little yard type situation. Creative flavors - we enjoyed the four flavors we tried. You can get a split flavor bowl for a "single" scoop, just like at Jenni's. Tried the Mango Sticky Rice (so rice flavored in a good way), Ube, Oaxacan Chocolate, and the Double Chocolate. I'd say get the wild flavors here - you can get chocolate and vanilla anywhere. They also have cookies and cones and will make an ice cream cookie sandwich I think.

Super creamy ice cream. I am one that always goes for the vanilla when I first try an ice cream place. If they can't make a good vanilla, everything else is not gonna be good either. Well it was really good. Next time in SD gotta go again

It's been quite a while since we last visited Stella Jean's, so we were happy when we found it while strolling along in Carlsbad. Hubs and I shared a double scoop of Ube Pandesal and Mango Sticky Rice. Both were creamy and yummy, but there's just something special about their Ube Pandesal more. Such a nice treat!

So many good ice cream flavors! My favorite spot for ice cream! It's in a cute spot as well! And I am sooo happy there are many gluten free options here! And the waffle cones are vegan and gluten free!!! A dream!!!!!!! Can't wait to come back and try more flavors!

Love love their Ube Pandesal ice cream. Wish I was closer. Parking is so much better than their San Diego location for sure, although it's always packed. My son enjoyed their seasonal peppermint chocolate bark ice cream. I also tasted their mango sticky rice and that was also good but Ube won!

Cannot begin to share how stoked I was when I learned of Stella Jean's coming to Carlsbad!! Love that the co owner is half-Thai (I'm also half-Thai) and that the flavors reflect interesting and fun South-East Asian flavors in addition to classics. The folks there are always friendly and cute about offering some ice cream to our dog :) The Carlsbad location is seriously a winner and love how much space there is to sit and hangout, and that it's a close walk to the beach. All of their ice creams have been fabulous and we've never had anyone angry with us for referring them to Stella Jean's! The mango sticky rice and Ube pan desalt are my fave flavors and I like that there are seasonal flavors for something different every season too. Definitely a must visit for some dessert!

They got the most delicious ice cream and the of course it's not just your ordinary flavors!!!! Their top two flavors are ube pandesal and mango sticky You gotta try them its really good!!!

Flavors were on point as always! I tasted the seasonal flavors - calamansi creamsicle was tart and sour if that's your thing, goat cheese was pretty goat cheese-y, and strawberry basque cheesecake was good too. But ultimately I ordered: split scoop of s'mores + ube with pandesal toffee. The s'mores was impressive - the chocolate really came through, with a hint of toastiness, and the marshmallows were weren't frozen or hard (still squishy!). Ube is always a favorite for me. If you haven't tried it, I encourage you to at least have a sample. Ube is a sweet purple yam, but I compare this specific flavor to coconut. The split scoop was a generous amount, more than I expected. Alex, the employee who served us, was amazing! So kind and helpful, and patient with my requests for samples :)

When handels line is wrapped around the corner we head over to this gem. I've only gotten the brown butter pecan in a waffle cone but it's delicious. It's a walk up to the window and order kind of place, in the cute little cottage area, we haven't sat and enjoyed it there- usually head to the beach and watch the sunset or stroll back home.

We were really excited to try Stella Jean after reading the reviews but we're pretty disappointed. The area itself and shop is very cute. You order at the window and there are various picnic tables to sit at. We got some cookies and a pint to go. The vanilla was not super flavorful and we saw that it was packed over two months ago. I was surprised since it is a small batch shop and think that it was overpriced for being so old. We went back for some scoops (S'mores and Milk and Cookies) which were much better. I saw that the shop has a lot of vegan and gluten free flavors which is likely their specialty.

Vegan friendly ice cream?! Yes, please! This is the sweetest little shop next to our favorite restaurant, The Plot. The service is friendly and fast, and the flavors are creative and DELICIOUS! I tried the Matcha cookie and although it was good, it was not my favorite. I would stick to the ice cream. My favorite was the Ube Pandesal ice cream. It was so tasty and I loved eating it off the cone. My second favorite was the Calamansi dreamsicle. The ice cream shop is located within a cute cluster of other restaurants with plenty of seating. It was picturesque and a great spot for families. I highly recommend Stella Jean's if you're an ice cream lover or are looking for a more unique flavor.

I was so excited to try this ice cream spot and wow, did they deliver! The ice cream was the right amount of creamy. Both scoops were not overwhelmingly sweet and the pecans and cookie bits added a great dimension to the flavor palette. Stella Jean's is now ranked as one of the top 3 ice cream spots my family and I have ever been to. We'll definitely be coming again whenever we need some ice cream. Thank you!

My mom and I love the Ube pandesal ice cream, especially because we're Filipinas and I grew up eating pandesal. It's the perfect combination and such a unique flavor. So happy that they opened up in the Village! We actually first tried them at Taste of the Village and they were my favorite.

Amazing and unique Ice-cream. They let me try a sample of so many flavors. They all were so good and hard to choose from. I ended up getting the taro toffee and s'mores. The s'mores has activated charcoal and I really liked that it was not packed with food coloring. The taro though- seriously addicting and so good! My son got vegan strawberry and I needed up eating some of his as well. Next time I'll have to get that with the vegan chocolate cookie. Will definitely be back!

Oh. My. Stars. this ice cream spot was SO delicious!! The flavor options were super unique, and I loved that it was nestled in a perfect spot to sit & enjoy. We enjoyed an ice cream sandwich made with brown butter pecan ice cream between the nutty chocolate chip cookie and my goodness, it was delicious!!!

This place is pretty cool. Great outdoor vibe good music and vegan options. We had strawberry with an oatmeal crunch and it was very good.

Can't get over how great the ice cream is here. I had their seasonal Pink Peppercorn with Vanilla as split (recommended by their extremely friendly staff) and it was to die for. The creaminess and bold fruitiness went together perfectly! I was also pleasantly informed that Stella gets its name from 4 legged friend who loved ice cream! So cute. They're were lots of doggos around when I was there, Stella even had a dog bowl out for them! Ask for Elliot when you come visit, they were very informative and helpful :) definitely be back!

Absolutely one of the worst experiences at any establishment. We went there with our grandchildren getting several different ice creams. One of the ice creams just didn't taste right. We went back to try and exchange the scoop for something else. A woman who said she was Bella, said it was company policy not to allow any type of returns regardless of the complaint The funny thing was another group behind us got the same ice cream and didn't like the taste. They saw our interaction and said "this is a horrible place". So sorry we left a nice tip. Don't go here!

I don't think you guys understand... this is the best ice cream shop in Carlsbad. Unique flavors, great staff and it's good for the soul. Alex, Elliott and Jamie are my favorites--and I hope I'm their favorite regular. I come here on schedule every week and it's the one thing I look forward to the most! Try the ube and chocolate, I promise you will not regret it. We love Stella Jeans!
