Halloween in Seattle 2020: Eating, Drinking, and Trick-or-Treating Guide | Eater Seattle

"At the Hotel Sorrento on First Hill, I saw a new restaurant hosting a "zombie soiree" on October 30 that features a three-course prix fixe menu and seating in the outside heated garden-turned-graveyard with pumped-in fog, plus a costume contest offering airfare and hotel prizes (info and tickets available)." - Gabe Guarente

We had a wonderful dining experience at STELLA in Hotel Sorrento. The food was excellent, flavorful, and well presented. The service was attentive and gracious, making us feel truly welcomed. The coffee was rich and smooth, a perfect finish to the meal. The restaurant has a calm and romantic atmosphere, with a seating layout that allows for both comfort and privacy. It is an ideal place for a relaxed meal or a special occasion. Valet parking is also conveniently available for $10. Highly recommended!

The menu is very selective and all the food on it is well prepared. I especially appreciate how well meals are plated. The service is friendly and attentive. It's a lovely spot for enjoyable meals.

Dining reservations are a complete mess. They no longer allow you to reserve the Fireside room. For events like Thanksgiving dinner, I called 2 times to find out the menu. The 1st time, a very apologetic waiter told me he did not know the menu. He took my phone number and told me the manager came in 2 times per week and would call me back. I waited 1 week. No one called me back. So, I called again. This time, a clearly clueless woman insisted that "there was no way to know what the Thanksgiving dinner menu was because they waited until the day before to order food." I repeatedly asked if she knew the main protein and she told me, "it was imposdible to know." The sad news is that I have had 1 good, but not great overpriced Thanksgiving dinner at the Sorrento and one terrible, overcooked, bitter turkey dinner at the Sorrento. Now, they can't even be bothered to tell you the menu in advance. It seems like a gamble. You might get mildly OK food or the food will be bitter, cold, overcooked and pricey. If you only care about not cooking on the holidays, this might be acceptable to you. If you want good food, my suggestion is you would be better off at McDonalds

TL;DR - We booked Mother’s Day brunch at STELLA expecting something special—what we got was a pricey ($55/person), fixed menu with barely any brunch items, no allergy accommodations, tiny portions, and poorly prepared food. Service felt indifferent, and the food was so disappointing we left halfway through and went to Denny’s instead. The manager was kind and didn’t charge us, but we won’t be going back. My husband made a reservation at STELLA for Mother’s Day brunch a month in advance, hoping to take me somewhere special. The restaurant required a credit card to hold the reservation and stated that no-shows would be charged the full $55 per person—which, frankly, is wild. When we arrived, we learned it was a fixed menu with no à la carte options, and the selections weren’t remotely brunch-like. I also overheard the host turn away a hotel guest (STELLA is inside the Hotel Monaco) because they were only seating reservations. The guest seemed surprised and disappointed, and honestly, I would’ve been too. The host didn’t acknowledge the occasion at all—no “Happy Mother’s Day,” no warm welcome. The first course was a plate of thaw-and-serve pastries, only two of which were savory, despite there being four of us (my husband, our two daughters, and me). The sweet pastries all contained nuts, which is a big problem because our younger daughter has a nut allergy. No one asked about dietary restrictions in advance, and the only nut-free substitute they could offer was a couple of hard, flavorless coconut macaroons—clearly meant as a gluten-free option. The second course choices were clam chowder or salad. Not exactly brunch staples. My older daughter and I had the salad, which was mostly bitter radicchio and barely dressed. It clashed terribly with my coffee. My husband tried the chowder and said it was “not that great.” It was also tiny—maybe 3.5 oz. The third course included a few attempts at brunch food, but none of them hit the mark: savory crepes with asparagus and mushrooms, poached eggs with tomato sauce and pecorino, beef stew, or a seafood lasagna. My egg dish came out with fully cooked yolks—definitely not poached—because the entire plate had clearly been baked to melt the cheese. It tasted like store-brand tomato sauce with garlic and cheese dumped on top. My husband’s crepes were soggy, poorly seasoned, and skimpy (just one crepe). Our older daughter’s stew was okay but also a tiny portion, served with an aggressively hard piece of toast. Our 12-year-old daughter found nothing on the menu appealing and barely touched the macaroons. Dessert options were strawberry shortcake or tiramisu for adults and vanilla gelato for kids—but we didn’t make it that far. After trying the entrées, my husband got up to talk to the manager while the kids and I waited in the car. He offered to pay for what we’d eaten, but the manager kindly waived the charges and apologized. To her credit, she handled the situation with grace—though I imagine we weren’t the only family to leave disappointed that day. We ended up going to Denny’s in SODO, which was not only a relief but honestly better food. We live here in Seattle, and after this experience, I doubt we’ll return to STELLA.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant and wonderful experience across the board. I avoid gluten and was able to enjoy an exquisite gluten free dish that was unlike anything I'd ever had before. The service was exceptional and the restaurant is luxurious and comfortable. We loved the atmosphere and all enjoyed delicious meals. We couldn't recommend this restaurant enough.

Stella is a stunning gem in Seattle! The dark wood architecture is a true masterpiece, exuding historical beauty and a warm, elegant atmosphere. The Chicken Alfredo pasta was absolutely delicious — creamy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff. If you’re looking for amazing food, great service, and a beautiful setting, Stella is a must-visit!

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in for a quick bite. Attentive and graceful service. Knowledgeable about the wine list and we especially appreciated the insights regarding the dessert options. The avocado shrimp salad was a vibrant green with perfectly cooked shrimp. The focaccia was plentiful for two people and both dipping sauces were tasty: a balsamic and oil vinegrette as well as a light chili oil. The bread was slightly warmed. The raw fennel salad on a bed of mixed greens was lightly dressed and topped with citrus, mixed olives, snd pomegranate seeds. Crisp and refreshing. The food was presented attractively and delicious. The combination of ingredients were well thought out and played together nicely. I plan to return to taste some of the tempting dinner options. This experience made me want more...

Yelp
The single star in this review would have been no stars but Stella does offer a very good Pinot Noir, Mayara 3 degrees (tho at $16/glass perhaps a bit overpriced). Virtually every element of this meal was substandard, the biggest issue being the lack of attention and communication with our wait person who despite only 3 other tables being occupied at the busiest point of our visit failed to let us know about delays with our dinners. we were flagging down busboys asking for updates. Throughout most of our time there, no staff was on the floor so no idea what was keeping them so busy - were they also the chefs? Our party of 6 with a reservation arrived at 5:30 - well before any potential dinner rush that never materialized. Our order was not taken until about 6:15 and our meals didn't arrive until 7! As we were attending an event that began at 7:30, luckily only 2-1/2 blocks away or we would never have made it, we presumed a 2 hour lead time would be sufficient. My eggplant lasagna was just OK after all that wait time. Fair sauce, small serving size, just barely warm enough to be above room temperature. Other meals - steak, mussels, a dinner sized salad, were also all just OK. If any of our orders required an enormous lead time to prepare, we were never made aware. The most insulting part of the meal is that when our checks arrived (as you might expect the one part of the meal that was prompt) we were surprised to find a 24% 'large party' fee/tip already included. There was simply no time to quibble over a fee not mentioned prior to the meal; I'm just glad we spotted it before adding any additional, unearned tip to the bill. There are plenty of other dining options within a few blocks of Town Hall. Do yourself a favor and patronize one of them instead.

Yelp
No reservation but came here with a large group of 7 or 8 (honestly, who's counting?) Service was wonderful and honest and helpful and accommodating. The seafood risotto was delicious and flavorful and came with a lot of seafood. Other people really enjoyed their pastas. Tiramisu and chocolate desserts were good. Great for birthdays or family dinners or team dinners or date nights. This is in a hotel and I couldn't tell! Will have to come back for the 3lb steak.

Yelp
Connected to a little hotel, this restaurant is super charming. It has an old, dark aesthetic, which would suit a dinner date really well. I visited for weekend brunch and it was pretty empty. Food took a bit to come out, given how empty it was. I ordered the crab cake benedict which was pretty good, but was pretty sad for the price. It was just muffin, a thin crab cake, and a poached egg. There was a side of breakfast potatoes and although they were crispy and good, were sparse. The server even came around and asked if I wanted more potatoes because it looked so sad lol Overall, not bad but not super good either. Service was really good, the food I did get was good, but not worth the price or the pain looking for street parking

Yelp
We had a dinner reservation for 4 on Friday night and the hostess sat us at a low lounge table. Not really comfortable for eating a full meal at. I thought this was odd since the restaurant was not full/busy at all at this time. Service was alright. It took a long time for our drinks to come out and we just ordered a couple glasses of wine. When our Cesar salad appetizer came out, we had to wait a few minutes to waive our server down again to bring us some sharing plates. 2 of us ordered the pappardelle bolognese, and thought it was ok. The noodles were great, but we were both expecting a bit more sauce and flavor.

Yelp
We had dinner and breakfast on an overnight stay. Pork chops for dinner were the best we have ever had. Two of us and we both had the for dinner. Breakfast: one Sorrento Breakfast and one Frittata. Both were spectacular! The potatoes with both meals were absolutely fantastic. As usual the atmosphere was wonderful. Service was great. Our server took very good care of us. Can't wait until the next time we can come back.

Yelp
Stella is a hidden gem! it's definitely on the pricier side, but totally worth it for the vibes alone. The live piano music adds such a nice touch--perfect for a date night or a cozy dinner with friends. I had the spaghetti agli scampi, which was pretty good, though I wish it had a bit more flavor. the real standout was the tiramisu super well-balanced, not too sweet and just the right amount of espresso. service was excellent. our server was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. overall, I'd definitely come back. it's a great spot if you're looking for a more elevated dinner experience in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Finally had a good service experience here so excited to leave a 4 star review (lol). Pros: - Extremely beautiful space, very cozy but elegant good spot for a girls night or a date, could also bring your parents here. The decorations they had up in the wintertime were super cute. - Drinks are very good, standard Seattle cocktail prices. - Food is really good, never been disappointed with anything. The cobb salad is a must order Cons: - Service is pretty consistently bad to the point where it's funny. Had a lovely server on my last visit a couple weeks ago but have had multiple experiences with extremely rude staff. I would still recommend but don't come if you'll get your feelings hurt easily.

Yelp
This place was so unique, definitely offers a unique experience different from any other restaurant in seattle. It is on the main floor of hotel sorrento and makes you feel like you've traveled back in time to an old timey movie! It was actually insane hahah it did not feel like seattle! I loved how they had live music too, not many places in Seattle do. I read other reviews saying the service wasn't great but I was disagree, I felt the service was actually pretty good! Our waiter was attentive and kind. The food I thought was really good, however, it was a bit expensive for what it was and how much we got but the quality was there. Overall, I would come again but maybe for just some drinks and a little appetizers instead of a whole meal but it was really fun just experiencing everything it has to offer too.

Yelp
The happy hour was great! We got a spot all cozy by the fireplace. Bartenders choice drink was super fun and innovative! I was super impressed! Will need to come back again!

Yelp
Stumbled into Stella this afternoon and left wondering why I hadn't been here sooner. This place has serious cozy Italian charm--dim lighting, warm wood interiors, and the kind of ambiance that makes you want to settle in for a slow meal and a bottle of wine. We kicked things off with the spinach artichoke dip, which was bubbling hot and cheesy in the best possible way. Paired with thick slices of crusty bread, it was basically comfort food perfection. The standout, though, was the spinach ricotta gnudi--light, pillowy, and served on a bed of bright tomato sauce with a sprinkle of walnuts for crunch. Every bite was rich and satisfying but somehow not too heavy. Definitely one of the best versions of gnudi I've had in the city. Only downside? The service was on the slower side. Not inattentive--just a little laggy between courses and check-ins. It didn't ruin the experience, but something to be aware of if you're on a tighter schedule. That said, the food and ambiance totally made up for it. It's the kind of spot I'd come back to for a cozy date night or a chill dinner with friends. Definitely a new favorite!!

Yelp
really slow service. not enough wait staff. had to find somebody to refill waters. overpriced overcooked halibut. Won't come back.

Yelp
Our Waiter Haylee recommended the pork chop and it was perfect to split! We loved it! I love the ambiance here but go rarely because of the prices!

Yelp
I stayed at the hotel and ended up eating here twice due to the convenience. Everything I tried was good, if a bit expensive, but definitely good quality ingredients. Cocktails were great, and don't skip the fantastic desserts! The waitstaff recommended the creme brûlée and I was not disappointed! Sitting outside was very nice, and they turned the heaters on around sunset, which was nice for a breezy September evening.

Yelp
Ambiance: I love the cline of this place. It's a great place for lunch and they have plenty of seating. Even though there was a baby shower near the foyer, it was quite peaceful. Service: excellent food suggestions and those drinks are . Very nice staff and they will leave alone to enjoy your meal. Food: Absolutely divine, everything was so tasty. My girlfriend and I shared a French toast while we bought ordered an entree. I will be back again.

Yelp
Stella is located in a hotel, with a beautiful patio front and interesting decor inside as its backdrop. Overall, Stella was ok. The waitress was nice and pleasant. The risotto and mussels tasted ok but not sure if it was worth it based on value and price. The risotto lacked either a strong seafood or creamy flavor, and was a bit watery and bland. I wish instead the risotto was creamier, which may have been a lack of cheese and a rich broth to cook the risotto. The scallops were also slightly under cooked than my preference and wish it was cooked a couple of mins longer.

Yelp
A hidden gem! My friends and I have visited multiple times during happy hour to sip on drinks and enjoy the delicious fries. The location is super convenient, especially with its close proximity to the hospitals. The service is always quick and accommodating, making us feel right at home. The ambiance inside is definitely more on the classy side, which adds a nice touch to the experience. Pros: - great happy hour spot with delicious fries and drinks, quick and accommodating service, convenient location near hospitals Cons: - may not be as casual if you're looking for a laid-back atmosphere, difficult parking

Yelp
This bar Stella inside the Sorento Hotel is a step back in time! It's still is a very magical place... and a must see for those who live out of town. I had a high tea baby shower here, 18 years ago, in the fire sign lounge. I was sad to see that it was empty on a Friday night. It used to be full of jazz singers and piano players and you couldn't even find a seat. It is still charming and quaint, and I would love to see a revival. Inside Stella, the oysters were sensational. They were so delicious and fresh. The bartenders, Ashley and David, make the best craft cocktails. They are attentive and so kind. I really loved meeting them both. I loved the food, ambiance, drinks, service and their patio is now open and darling! By the end of the evening, I had met two strangers down at the end of the bar... we started chatting/being friendly ... and one of the women, not shown in any of my pictures, was loud and obnoxiously rude. I mean OBNOXIOUS like I have never experienced before. She was from Florida talking loudly about how "WEIRD" people are here in Washington, which it's fine to have your own opinions, but she literally had been here for less than 3 hours. She touted that she had money, talked about her private parts, and dating men over 50. It got gross. After her rants, she just would not quit and going on and on about things you don't normally talk about loudly in public. She had no manners, was drunk, loud, self absorbed. I felt SO sorry for the staff. OMG, they did not deserve that. Don't let my one strange encounter with a stranger deter you from coming here - this place absolutely did not deserve that woman! WOW! I felt so sorry for her local friend who was giving her the most fabulous PNW tour of the century for the next 3 days straight. I hope she lived through it. I have to give an extra shout out to the amazing, literally amazing bartenders, Ashley and David -- people TIP THEM EXTRA! They both stayed completely composed and handled the entire evening with an unexpected grace. Had I been working there... I probably would've kindly asked the lady to leave. The bartenders showed such class. They deserve a raise! I absolutely love this place- it is so charming and holds so much history in the walls. If you've never been here, you absolutely must go. It is a very rare and special place. I've been coming for more than 20 years and I have never experienced a person like that other guest. I actually officiated a wedding on the rooftop that night... and that is the Bride in my photo. The wedding was STUNNING. The views are breathtaking and so magical. This is a beautiful place to get married at. It's tres tres romantic!

Yelp
Yummy! Stella is conveniently located next to Virginia Mason and makes a great place for gatherings after work. My group and I LOVED the pappardelle, risotto, spinach dip, and mussels! Cocktails were also fantastic! They offer a great selection of both cocktails and mock tails. We will be back soon!

Yelp
Delicious food with attentive service. The butternut squash soup was excellent. The booth height versus chair height is very different.

Yelp
Review is for their weekend brunch. A really cute place. We sat in their outdoor patio area and came early around their opening time so it was pretty empty and quiet when we dined. The menu is on the small side but they have the basic brunch essentials. We didn't get drinks because our group doesn't drink alcohol and all of the drinks offered were alcoholic so we stuck to water. - Cheese and mushroom omelette with potatoes- very delicious. Potatoes were crispy which I enjoyed. - French Toast - my husband got this and he liked it but said it was standard french toast - our friend got the eggs benedict and he ate it up so it must have been good. Service was friendly and overall food was good but there wasn't anything special about their brunch when we went. Honestly, my husband and I want to come back for dinner because their dinner menu looks amazing.

Yelp
We enjoyed dinner, drinks and music in the fireside room at Stella. The gnudi was the best Italian dish that I ever had.. perfect marinating sauce with some white creamy sauce and these divine cheese spinach balls and a sprinkling of walnut crunch paired with a red wine.... Yum. My partner has the seafood risotto and really enjoyed it! We also enjoyed the crème grille and the tiramisu... don't miss their version of it! Delish. Quiet vibe to catch up with family and done cool piano sounds in the background. Of course the room is beautiful with the old historic vibe. Glad we tried it! Oh the buffalo trace old fashion in the speakeasy type bar was excellent!!

Yelp
Note: though the address is on Madison, the entrance is on Terry. Inside/outside of a hotel. Adorable bar area with daily Happy Hour (both drink and food options). Outside dining area is very cute as well. Plenty of drink options to please just about everyone in your party. The standout was the Bruschetta (which had peach and peach purée which was super unique and very tasty!) and the Mac N Cheese (amazing!). Server was very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
The menu had a variety of brunch options, including vegetarian ones. We both enjoyed our food. I recommend adding an avocado to the omelette. The server was very attentive and gave great recommendations. The ambiance in the fireside room was very nice. There was a live piano performance and the fire was lovely on a rainy day. I'd definitely return for another cozy and classy brunch.

Yelp
It's the first time I've been to Stella, what caught my eyes was the design of the restaurant. classy and fancy, the staff there were really friendly very professional. The customers service was excellent and my waiter I wish I can remember his name but the older gentleman was awesome and had such cool & awesome yet super professional vibe to him. Last but not least the food and drinks were fantastic, freshly cooked and the drinks were made just right.

Yelp
Located within Sorrento Hotel which is 100+ years old gives it a really nice vintage feel and love the details of the ceiling and wood panels. However the service is slow and waited for about 20 minutes and when the steak was here it is overcooked. The staff was nice and asked the kitchen to remake it and the second time was well cooked. Another 15 minute wait. Overall the taste is bland and surprisingly the fries are good.

Yelp
This is a quirky little bar and restaurant across the street from Virginia Mason my brother and I frequent it regularly while my dad is getting treatment. I've had breakfast lunch and dinner here and never been disappointed. Their appetizers and meals are all delicious and their prices are good. In the summer, it's always nice to be able to sit outside. They have a great variety of seating either in the sun or shade.

Yelp
Can't say enough about this hidden jewel on Seattle's First Hill. The food, service and ambiance are truly outstanding. The pasta al forno was perfect, full of flavor and not too heavy. And I can't say enough about the tiramisu... I paired mine with a lovely espresso while enjoying the live piano music. Perfect spot for a date, catching up with friends or just wanting to relax and enjoy "la dolce vita." Can't wait to be back for a brunch!

Yelp
Amazing food with amazing ambience! The outside seating is even more beautiful but do check if they are open to it before you go.

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday with my friends at Stella and had the most amazing service! Our server was great- she made sure we were taken care of and gave good recommendations We got the maple sticky buns and truffle Parmesan fries as starter and holy they were amazing! Good balance of savory and sweet For food, we got a few to share: chilled beets & peppered chevre- salad wasn't anything special but the fried peppered chèvre was such a good addition to the salad. Very creamy and it paired so well with the aged balsamic dressing. Two eggs bacon avocado & toast- you can never go with this classic brunch dish Alderwood smoke salmon Benedict- this was so good. They do it a little differently at Stella. Instead of your classic smoked salmon under poached eggs, they make a smoked salmon patty and put it on English muffin bread. It was cooked to perfection and had so much flavor. Also, the rosemary garlic potatoes with each dish waa sooo good. Overall, highly recommend for a date or a group brunch! It's also fun walking around the hotel afterwards to take pictures

Yelp
We stayed a couple of nights at the Hotel Sorrento. It's an old favorite built in the early 1900's she's over due for some interior updates. But, still she is charming. The restaurant has been there off the lobby with entrances off the street as well as the lobby. It's had several different names during our long relationship. I recall it being the Hunt Club? No matter it is Stella now. We entertained a party of five for cocktails and dinner Wednesday evening. The place was busy, lively and fun. Service was excellent from a number of different waitstaff and the bartender. We never wanted for anything more than a few moments. More cocktails more apps and then fine dinners and then desserts. A Stellar Stella performance. The next morning my wife and I enjoyed a quiet breakfast served by the most charming young lady we've had the pleasure of meeting in sometime. Excellent eggs bacon avocado and fruit. Coffee cups never empty! Thursday evening we hosted cocktails for three in the lobby bar. Again Stellar Stella service from a charming young man who shared his knowledge of wine and spirits so much fun when a wait person is a student of their fare! We're for sure returning.

Yelp
One of the biggest disappointments of our weekend. I scoped out Stella for our group of 6 a couple of weeks in advance. I liked it because it is walking distance from the Catholic cathedral we would be coming from for Mass, had solid Yelp reviews, and had a cool aesthetic. It is rare that Yelp leads me astray, but this was one of those times. The patio reservations are ideal, just look at how beautiful it is out there in the photos! Those spots were full, so we sat inside instead. Stella is located inside the Hotel Sorrento. The inside has a lot of dark wood, bright tiles, and green plants which create a sophisticated vibe. I should've known from how long it took to get waters and drinks that this would be a negative experience. We ended up spending OVER 2 HOURS here for brunch on a Saturday morning. No, they were not even packed--there were still some empty tables in the dining area. It seemed like they only had one waitress working for both inside and outside which is unreasonable for a weekend during brunch hours. Especially a weekend when there is a Mariners game AND two Taylor Swift concerts. We watched her bring out one plate at a time when serving food, she never even used a tray to carry multiple plates at a time. Every time we ordered a round of drinks, it took 15-20 mins to get the drinks. After placing our orders, we didn't see our waitress again for probably almost an hour. There were 2 water vases on the table which we all drank and ran out of, only for them to never get refilled. The wait was noticeably long, everyone at the table started looking around and was confused about what was taking so long since they weren't even full inside. It was disappointing that the waitress or any other staff member never came by to explain what was going on or to apologize for the extreme wait. My husband finally got up and went to ask where our food was and we were very close to actually leaving which I have never done before. Of course, that is right when our food came out...after waiting close to 1.5 hours after ordering. Totally unacceptable. There are only 7 entrees on the menu for brunch, so I would've expected them to be phenomenal meals if that's all they serve. My husband and I split the french toast and the eggs benedict. They were both good, but not as good as they should've been for that small menu. Everyone liked their food and had nothing negative to say, but the service and wait time highly outweighed the food quality. And to top it all off, there was an issue at the end when trying to pay. Our group of 6 was comprised of 3 couples, so each guy from the couple put in a card to pay. We asked for them to please split the bill evenly amongst the three cards. My friend went to sign his receipt and noticed it had my husband's name on it; they had charged my husband's card twice, another guy's card once, and then didn't even swipe the third card. In order to make that kind of mistake, the person really must be so overwhelmed that they cannot pay attention to basic steps. Unfortunately, the gratuity was already included at 20% since we were a group of 6. I try to tip well at places, but this experience certainly did not deserve 20% for service when there was barely any actual service that happened. It is disappointing for me to leave this review as I was really excited for this dining experience and because it is very rare for me to leave less than 3 stars for a business. I try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but this was just straight up poor service all around.

Yelp
I'm from Seattle and have frequented the Hotel Sorrento multiple times and most recently have had several things off the menu. By far, Chef Austin serves the best pasta dish I've ever had. Not only does he prepare the gnocchi to perfection, the sauce he prepares is the best I have ever had. I would recommend HS and this dish, in particular, every time.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised with how good the food and everything was! Especially for a restaurant at a hotel (it's not always the case!) I came here yesterday with a couple girlfriends for an early birthday brunch. We made reservations at 10am and during our time there I think there were maybe a couple other groups there. The restaurant was super cute and we liked that it was on the quieter side so we could sit one on side of the restaurant and it was more private. For food and drinks we all ordered a latte to start and shared a few dishes: - Risotto Aranchini (came in three crispy balls and we thought it was the perfect amount of truffles in the mushrooms!) - Smoked salmon eggs benedict (a nice spin on the classic eggs benedict with having smoked salmon patties instead of english muffin) - French toast and huckleberry compote (also good but we were almost full from the first two dishes we didn't eat as much of this) All the food stayed pretty warm during our meal which we appreciated since we were kinda eating one dish at a time before moving onto the next. The only gripe about this restaurant is the location is not great with parking since it's in First Hill by the hospitals. We all still thought it was a cute and yummy place for brunch and I recommend checking it out, but come earlier for parking!

Yelp
Decent place for dinner, out of the current menu the scallops were far and above the best item there! My friends had the duck and the lamb, the lamb was okay but everyone tried the scallops and agreed that the scallops tasted the best, really melted in your mouth with the salmon roe! My friend got the Dirty Dancer cocktail and didn't really care for it, but it was really strong so at least she got her moneys worth! Very nice outdoor seating area, there was someone playing live piano too. Friendly waiter!

Yelp
The warm and inviting ambiance at Stella, provides a perfect setting for intimate dinners, gatherings with friends, and special occasions alike. Whether you're craving risotto arancini, smoked salmon eggs benedict, or a perfectly balanced Caesar salad, Stella delivers exceptional food and unique cocktails. The knowledgeable young male server was extremely nice and patient with us! Thank you, king! Will be back soon!

Yelp
I ordered the shrimp scampi, and it was just okay. This is my third stay at Hotel Sorrento, and on my previous two visits to Stella, I absolutely loved the food. The roasted chicken and truffle fries, which were on the menu back in March, were my favorites. However, on this recent visit, I was disappointed with the meal--and so was my entire party. My friends, who live in Seattle and have dined with me at Stella before, were also looking forward to a delicious meal. Unfortunately, both my friend and my boyfriend ordered the Bolognese, and it came out cold. My friend even sent hers back and asked to have it microwaved, feeling uncomfortable but justified since the food is pricey. My boyfriend, on the other hand, just suffered in silence. The lounge was packed, so perhaps the restaurant is attracting more guests now, and maybe they've let the quality slip a bit to accommodate the higher volume. For me, part of the appeal of staying at Sorrento is the restaurant. I should say that the service and hospitality were still excellent. As someone who values hotels with great in-house dining for convenience, I might reconsider staying at Sorrento until they improve their kitchen.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place and it did not disappoint! We went at the on a warmer day in the fall so we sat outside in the patio area and it's so cute! I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the ambience of this restaurant and the service was superb as well. Now to the food, everything we ordered was so good and the presentation of the food was beautiful too which is always a big plus for me! We ordered couple bottles of wine so next time I do want to try their cocktails because it looks really good! My favorite appetizer was the heirloom tomatoes! It was so flavorful and so fresh! It came with asparagus and we added burrata on top! The sage cauliflower radiatori pasta was good but wish it had a little more flavor in it. I loved the tagliatelle bolognese! The portions are good size and I definitely can't wait to go back when it's warmer and try their other dishes and cocktails.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I went for brunch on a Sunday. They have jazz brunch on Sundays outside in the courtyard. Such a beautiful space. Our server was great with recommendations for drinks and food. Overall, we had a great time. Food was good, not very exciting but decent. Drinks were tasty. Great place to take out of town visitors for a unique brunch.

Yelp
The dinner was amazing! The ambiance was amazing and I loved the vibe of the place! The waitstaff was super attentive and very helpful when someone in my group had dietary restrictions! Especially Shannon, she was super fun and fresh, will go there again for sure!

Yelp
Well actually I've never been to STELLA Restaurant cause I didn't know anything about her deliciously prepared and exquisite menus I saw from another Yelper who'd been there. Soooo, I'll join in on her five stars as I'm looking to making them mine as well. I'm literally a food critic and enjoy very good FOODS OF ALL KINDS, mostly and I've not been in WA State long enough to be acquainted with all the Best it has to offer.

Yelp
It's a truly elegant space, with wonderful music, and it was perfect for a birthday party I arranged for a partner turning 50. She was amazed, the attendees were all very impressed and happy, and Lex provided great service in helping to arrange what will become a terrific memory.

Yelp
I was there for brunch with family. We liked the food. It's in a beautiful, historic hotel. I also had dinner with my sister and we enjoyed it.

Yelp
Staying at Hotel Sorento before our cruise, we ate at Stella. The food was outstanding, but the hostess was unwelcoming and unhappy, the waiter the same. Sad for such a nice restaurant and Hotel. The next night we went to their eloquent bar, and the hostess from last night was the bartender, and same miserable rude attitude, and added her 20% tip without mentioning it. (I would have tipped her 20 anyway because I felt sorry for her, not because she deserved it). Management of the Restaurant need to seriously train there employees or let them go, because they are unhappy and miserable. The kitchen/chef/food gets 5 stars, Waiter/hostess/bartender deserve 1 star

Yelp
5/5 The ambiance and service is fantastic here. Their outdoor courtyard is SO cute, it made me feel like I was in LA. Our server was also very attentive and nice. 3.5/5 The food was meh, nothing really stood out to me, but it all tasted decent and was cooked well. Parking was really easy to find so that's a plus, they have lots of street parking and a parking lot across the street.

Yelp
Saturday brunch time. Service was long. It took a good amount of time for the food come out. The ambience is a sweet outdoor courtyard which is great during the summers, but beware that it's near a lot of hospitals and the ambulances pass by enough to notice. Food wise: I got the truffles fries + blt; friend got eggs benny. Both well made, but special? Not really. If you're close by, it's summer months, and it's convenient, not a bad spot.

Yelp
Salad w tuna was good, seemed fresh but could have used a bit more flavor. Tomato soup and grilled cheese was great comfort food. Historic hotel, sat outside on a nice day. Strange smell inside as we walked in ( funk). Friendly server
