"Not as down-home as one might think, this cozy College Station restaurant makes room for veggie frittatas, buttermilk biscuit Benedicts, and banana nut oatmeal. Still, it doesn’t mess with comfort heroes like pot roast and shrimp and grits. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor dine-in services." - Brandon Watson

Yummy biscuits and gravy and delicious lemon-blueberry mimosas!! They have many fabulous dishes including French toast made using their homemade biscuits. Wonderful spot for brunch in College Station. 🤠

We just happened to be near here at my doctors visit, and decided we were hungry. So we looked up a place to eat and we saw this restaurant and it had really good reviews, so we thought we would try it. What I had, I would consider more like a treat not really a healthy breakfast option, but I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the berries and cream biscuits were delicious. my husband had something called the rise and swine sandwich but it’s more like an open face sandwich. Everything is served per biscuit. It was absolutely delicious. We definitely will go back if ever in the area.

I was in town for a quick trip and missed the free breakfast at my hotel….this is what I like to call a “happy accident!” A quick google search did good for the soul finding this place!!! The “Southern Benny” with basted eggs and Churro French Toast was phenomenal! Great atmosphere, too. Truly a “Heart of the South” type experience!

My bestie and I stopped here for breakfast before a day of house hunting. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly! I love a good chicken and waffles, so had to give the chicken and biscuit French toast a try. You don’t even need to use the maple syrup! It is so good just as it comes! Don’t need to add anything to it. The berries biscuit French toast was also delicious. My bestie thought she needed a full size, but wasn’t able to finish it. A half size is large enough for one person. We got a side of bacon. It wasn’t thick cut, as advertised, but that wasn’t a big deal. Well ask them to cook it a bit longer so it’s crunchy next time. The fresh squeezed OJ is so good! How OJ should taste! We got the mimosa carafe with OJ, but it can be made with a few different juices to mix it up. Don’t leave without a 6 pack of biscuits and a side jam to take home for delicious eating after they’re closed! We loved this breakfast so much that we came back another day during our trip! I can’t wait to bring my family back when we move there and will recommend this spot to anyone looking for delicious food at a local spot!!

Google
Found Stella Southern Cafe on Maps researching BCS dining options I wanted to try while in the area. The Mrs and I were out in the greater CS area after the Bryan farmers market and looking for brunch options. They were pretty busy when we arrived as the line was several groups deep... but the staff moved pretty efficiently and we were up in no time. I got the Southern Benedict with a side of grits. The Mrs got the chicken and biscuit French toast(?), which wasn't. Better described as drop biscuits or Johnny cakes, but definitely NOT French toast. Clearly lots of scratch made and a likely option next time we're wanting breakfast or brunch.

I've driven past this place so many times, I decided it was time to give it a try! There was a bit of a wait, but honestly worth it because the food was delicious! We got the shareable beignets, the Southren Benidect, and Biscuits & Gravey. The beignets were great, I think they'd just need some honey or a lil bit of chocolate to kick them up a notch. The gravy and eggs were delicious, a great example of a southern breakfast. I'd love to come back and try more things!

Google
The huevos rancheros with pulled pork were delicious. The {Southern} Benedict was also very good. Everything came hot & fresh from the kitchen and was nicely presented. The fantastic staff was very friendly and didn't let my coffee mug run dry! The bright and airy dining room was nicely decorated and provided a great atmosphere. The owner has a degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, and the value of that education definitely shows.

Google
Ordered the SEC sandwich, which is basically a sausage-egg-cheese biscuit. It comes with “fries” which are not at all fries—instead you get a pile of soggy, unseasoned cubes of potatoes that are 30 seconds away from being burnt. The sandwich came out IMMEDIATELY after I ordered it. It was cold—I mean the eggs were literally cold to the touch. The sausage was lukewarm at best. I had to ask for another one sadly. I truly hate being “that person”, but I am just wary of cold eggs and meat. The service was good and everyone is very nice, but it seems that nothing is really made to order. My parents had the pot pie and that too came out immediately and it was barely warm. I suspect that most of the food just sits in the kind of foil pans you’d find at a church potluck. Even Denny’s cooks their eggs to order… If you’re looking for a good biscuit sandwich and real fries, I’d skip this place and go down the street to Whataburger. 😉

Yelp
Yelped a "good breakfast" place after a wedding weekend in College Station. As always Yelp never fails. The food was so fresh and everything is homemade. I had the Southern Benedict. It was great. The ham was very tasty and the sausage gravy is the "extra" this dish needed. The platter is more food than any one woman should ever eat. Hubby had his staple two egg breakfast and side of biscuits and gravy. He ranks Stella's in his top three breakfast places. (And we've eaten breakfast in a LOT of places!!) Be ready to stand in line and order. They only let you order if there is a table for your specific party available. I don't love that seating model, but the food is so good I'll overlook it. But DO NOT a come here as a group during g busy times! You will not be happy. I hear the line gets incredibly long during games, grads, etc. Stella's was AWESOME. So much so this Longhorn would drive to Aggie land JUST to dine here. The biscuits alone are worth the drive. Take away; MUST TRY for breakfast and don't miss the biscuits!

Steven G.

Yelp
Comfortable place. Definitely visit! I had the Nashville hot chicken sammy, with kettle chips. Both were excellent. The chips were fresh and not greasy. The chicken sandwich was on point (could have been a bit hotter, but, probably a perfect compromise to satisfy a spicy need, and not offend anyone lol) The pickles and onions I believe are made in house and they too were both delicious. I just couldn't mix coffee either the spicy chicken sandwich, but will definitely be back to try it out with one, or two of the breakfast/brunch items

Yelp
Came here because of the great reviews while traveling through town. I wouldn't say it was bad, also wouldn't come back or try to hype it up as a go-to breakfast spot. We also ate the standard breakfast with two eggs, bacon, a biscuit and some potatoes instead of one of their specialties so that may have had an effect on how good it actually was. Nothing on the plate was outstanding in any way. Eggs were eggs, potatoes were just potatoes, and the bacon was not what I would consider crispy, just truly basic all the way around. The biscuit was kind of soggy which made me a little sad, strawberry jam was good, guess I got lucky because my date got grape and that was even more average. You order at the front and the cashier was friendly and helpful. They bring you out your food and help refill your drinks. Everyone was polite, standard all the way. Restaurant itself is cozy, we sat in the patio and that was nice because of the weather. Just a couple picnic tables outside. Restaurant is right next to highway and in the parking lot of a hotel, so not much to look at around. Don't regret stopping by, just know I can skip and try to look for a different spot next time I'm out this way.

Yelp
Amazing southern cafe! We had eggcetera , beignets, biscuits french toast, and huevo rancheros. It was all delicious and to die for! Be aware the portions are big and you will eat everything!! The staff is really caring and friendly. There's going to be line at the door but it definitely worth waiting for. Extra points for really good and strong coffee.

Chee Keat F.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday morning on the weekend just before the Aggies start college. The place was packed! With this place, you place your order and pay up-front. Seeing how packed this place was, we were concerned that we wouldn't be able to find a seat after placing our order. However, Stella has an interesting solution for this. Before paying for our order, we would wait at the cashier until the staff finds available seating for us. That's just brilliant. And we were glad we waited instead of giving up. The food was worth it! Rise & Swine - large fried chicken breast, bacon and biscuits smothered with gravy, this is a good bet if you're hungry. The other items we tried - High On the Hog and Chicken & French Toast, were all delicious as well. Awesome food, nice interior, decent prices. We can see why this place is very popular!

Fabiola R.

Yelp
Unlike typical breakfast spots, at Stella's you order your food prior to sitting down, nonetheless the service and food is spectacular! Everything was made fresh and the French toast was delicious and just the right amount of sweet. I enjoyed breakfast with close family members and it was the perfect environment to catch up and enjoy a good meal. This location has a parking lot.

Carly H.

Yelp
There's a lot of hype around this place but it's honestly justified. There was a line outside but I waited and they were really efficient and organized so it wasn't bad. I ordered the veggie frittata along with a side of grits and potatoes. It was a lot of food but I was super hungry and scarfed it all. Well worth the wait!

Raul P.

Yelp
Today after church I had breakfast at Stella. The eggs over easy, ham and two biscuits. It was a great meal. The coffee is hot and smooth. Great service and very clean place. Great place to have breakfast.

Clarence J.

Yelp
This is a wonderful, modern Southern restaurant that serves large plates of flavorful food. The entrees are biscuit-focused and definitely filling. The chicken-French toast was amazing - I would definitely order this again - and everything went well with the black pepper cane syrup, which I would make my default syrup. (I don't normally like chicken with syrup, but the black pepper cane syrup went as perfectly with the chicken as it did the biscuit French toast.) The chicken-biscuit pot pie was good, but it could have used a little additional seasoning to me. (I wouldn't order that one again with all the other wonderful things on the menu to try...and the desire to order the chicken-French toast again and again.) The fresh orange juice is also excellent. Stella is a bright and airy restaurant with modern southern decor - light woods, brass/steel/iron accents, Edison bulbs in modern fixtures. There's seating indoors at configurable tables with long benches on one side - at the most basic, these are good for 2-4 people, but they can be pushed together for more - as well as booths, and then outdoors on a large covered porch on heavy picnic tables. The dining area can be loud when it's busy, with sound echoing, but it's not too bad. After you enter the restaurant, you order at the register from a menu on a chalkboard wall, then you pay and head to a table. Alcoholic drinks are listed on a separate chalkboard above the register area. The warm, friendly, efficient, and responsive staff members hustle around the restaurant.

Yelp
Two years ago we really enjoyed this place because of the friendly service at the time and cute atmosphere. The food isn't outstanding but it's decent enough for a quick sit down breakfast and there's definitely a shortage of breakfast places in town. We stopped going once they started having less than friendly people directing the lines and barking at customers over tables. I think they would be better suited to require people wait to be seated by a hostess instead of snapping at people for sitting down at a table. Super dry biscuits aren't worth the rude service.

Tim V.

Yelp
Went for a Sunday brunch, showed up and there was a fairly long line outside however it moved fairly quickly and there is some outside seating. I had the country Benedict and thought it was very good. The portion sizes are healthy and the overall service was quick. The staff was friendly and quick to assist when asked. Good vibe and will be back another Sunday

Jameka J.

Yelp
Found this place on Tiktok and it did not disappoint. When I arrived there was a line and the place looked packed. You are in line and you place your order and they give you a wooden spoon with a letter on it and you find your seat. I ordered the blueberry lemon mimosa, banana foster French toast, shrimp and grits. Everything I ordered was good. There was people who worked there that walked around and made sure everything was good and if you needed anything. Restaurant was clean and and had beautiful atmosphere.

Sydney B.

Yelp
Went around brunch time, it was busy but line moved fast. I've never been to a a non fast food place where you ordered at the counter, but it was cool. The biscuits were good but the eggs and sausage were lackluster. I personally wouldn't go back, just not my cup of tea.

Edward-Lorrie T.

Yelp
Great food!! Biscuits and homemade jam are amazing!! Friendly staff. Been multiple times and plan to go back.

Sophia N.

Yelp
Came to College Station for a quick visit and decided to have brunch before heading home. Arrived Saturday around 11ish and there was a long line but don't fret, the line moves very quickly. You must order at the counter first and then find a table to sit. Service was excellent and food was good. What we ordered: Stella Granola Rise & Swine Veggie Frittata

Kathryn B.

Yelp
Love Stella's so much that, anytime we visit Aggieland we eat breakfast there. It's become a tradition for us!

Becky D.

Yelp
Everything about this place is good. The food is excellent, the service couldn't be better and the seating is close but not crowded. We had breakfast After a hospital stay. Great experience. Will definitely be back - hopefully not after going to the hospital!

Gina D.

Yelp
Came in around 11am in a Thursday. The place wasn't too busy. I have been wanting to try this place. We ordered the Eggcetera breakfast and the Bananas Foster French Toast. Both plates were good with the exception of the breakfast potatoes were cold on my plate and the breakfast sausage was just okay. I asked for Tobacco but they didn't offer it. I also ordered a side of gravy and it wasn't very hot. The French toast was definitely our favorite; so good!! We ordered the Biscuit Pot Pie to go for later and it was really good. Neat place to come. I definitely would not wait in the long lines I've heard about to eat here.

Luis C.

Yelp
OMG!! This place is AWESOME!! The food was absolutely delicious. From the moment you walk in you're greeted with a smile. As you wait in line to place your order, there is a person who is actually looking for seats for you helping you sit after your order is placed. So there is no holding seats while people are ordering. They have a system that works well here. The cheese grits are good. The blueberry French toast, but made with their special biscuits with absolutely a must have. Great atmosphere in the area as it is a hang out/family breakfast meeting/let's have a cup of coffee place. Will definitely be attending when I go to College station again.

Alexandra E.

Yelp
Another cute little cafe to add to the books. The hostess was so friendly taking mine and my friends orders. The ladies were very attentive while we were eating; asking if we wanted refills, and took our dirty dishes away quickly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming; even the ladies room was very nice. The artistic mural on the side of the building was so cute we had to take pictures. The food was yummy I loved there cheese on the burger. It's there receipt or own cheese sauce; whichever it was it was delicious. Warning be sure to ask for extra napkins because sauce went all over. Would go back if we are ever in the area again.

Terry B.

Yelp
Everything was really great, with one exception, Nichole. Food was great! We had the Southern Benedict, Chicken and French-toast with the small order of Beignets with the Pecan Coffee. Everything was on point! Atmosphere is super cute. Overall the staff and service was friendly and our food came out fairly quick. Candidly this should have been a solid 4-5 star review but unfortunately Nichole didn't make us feel welcome at all. She was snarky, rude and lacked professionalism. Respectfully, she could use some training on customer service and I'd encourage management to have someone else managing the line and flow of customers.

Deanna D.

Yelp
When we first walked in the door, there was a big, huge long line, and we thought it was gonna take forever for us to get seated and be able to eat. But we quickly learned that you stand in line and order your food, and the servers will guide you to a table, which will always be available. The food is amazingly fresh, delicious and different. I highly recommend this place for any local or out-of-towner. You will not be disappointed..

Klemens T.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time with my wife. We ordered the Avocado Toast (pretty delicious), the High-On-The-Hog (very delicious), and the chocolate strawberry French Toast (super delicious). The staff ate friendly and fast. There's a large parking lot.

Raul P.

Yelp
This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. The service is excellent at a reasonable price for your meal.

Samuel C.

Yelp
College Station has a lot of 2000 calorie breakfast places. Eggs benedict. French toast with thirty kinds of breakfast meat. Eggs benedict AND French toast with thirty kinds of breakfast meat between two waffles with a pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream on top. Etc. Etc. Etc. I hate those places. You waddle out of there first thing in the morning - and you don't want to start your day. You want to go back home to bed and sleep off the whole thing. BUT I LOVE STELLA. Stella calls themselves Southern Breakfast. This is more - Nutso Crazy Cook Goes Out Of His Mind using Southern Breakfasts as a vague inspiration. I love Nutso Crazy Cooks - even first thing in the morning. There are some traditional items on the menu for people who can't stand too much weirdness before they have had their coffee. But the fun items are the strange ones. My vote goes for their take on chicken and waffles - which is a whole double boneless chicken breast deep fried and served on their version of French toast. Their version of French Toast is French Toast made with biscuits. How much better is French Toast made with biscuits compared to French Toast made with white bread? Well how much better are biscuits compared with white bread? French Toasting them doubles that. And I am just as happy not to deal with the bones in my chicken first thing in the morning when getting the cream and sugar into my coffee is about as much as I can handle. The execution on the chicken is first rate. The execution on the biscuits is first rate. * * * The menu comes with pictures. A close examination of the pictures shows that breakfast items with names that you think you know what they are can be somewhat different here. Different is good. Southern Breakfast? Toto - I don't think we are in South Carolina any more.

Christina B.

Yelp
Cannot resist the biscuits here! Service is top notch and atmosphere if so charming and clean! Biscuit French Toast is the bomb!!

Heather N.

Yelp
Great breakfast, warm staff and great atmosphere- what more do you want! Cheese grits were very yummy along with the biscuit and homemade jam. Everyone else's food looked great and we had no complaints.

Brian D.

Yelp
A fun restaurant. Highly recommend the deep fried saltines and pimento cheese. My five-year-old could not stop eating them.

Stephanie F.

Yelp
Wanted to try this for over a year. Finally got a sweet time. Arrived on a Sunday around 9:45 am. Was able to wait in line and be seated by 10:20 am. Is a walk up/order counter. Wait staff finds a spot for you to sit and directs you to the table for you. Food was fantastic! Ordered the mixed berry french toast with a side of potatoes and bacon. Don't skip out on the potatoes. So delish.

Gabe E.

Yelp
I really wished I would have taken time to take photos. I was a little nervous because of the line. I was really surprised how efficient they were though. Line moved quicker than I thought it would, we were able to get a table and the food didn't take very long either. We accidentally forgot to order my meal the wait staff were so friendly and said they would get it right out. They added it to our order and it came out with the rest of the food. They went above and beyond to help, I really appreciate it. Everything was amazing. We had the beignets which were awesome. We also had biscuits and gravy, the vegetable frittata, bananas foster French toast, churro French toast and the fried green tomato BLT. Everything was really good. I was most surprised about the frittata; it was sooooooooo good. Really glad we found this, we were just driving thru college stati

Morgan B.

Yelp
Have been to the Stella Southern Cafe twice and was blown away both times! Super quick service, fantastic biscuits, and yummy coffee. Definitely a must try place in college station. Stars for me have been the blueberry French toast and the beignets for those with a sweet tooth. I like sweet and savory so get the kids egg plate with the biscuit upgraded to french toast!!

Asha Z.

Yelp
We got take out breakfast. The place was hopping inside, but we still got our food fast& hot. Very tasty, we would have wanted to stay and enjoy the patio (was a warmer morning) but no dogs allowed. We have a service dog but didn't bring her vest and felt uncomfortable asking to sit out there without it because of the prominently posted policy.

Nicole H.

Yelp
My favorite brunch in the BCS! Unmatched coffee and food! It's literally all so good. All of the biscuit French toast is 10/10.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
The food, service, and atmosphere are outstanding! This is absolutely our go-to restaurant in BCS. Everything is consistent, clean, and fresh. The food is excellent and the service is unparalleled. I absolutely recommend Stella!!

Tom A.

Yelp
For a place that touts it's biscuits I can safely say this is the first time I've ever had to use a knife and fork to cut a biscuit! The chicken on the "french toast" breakfast was good, but spoiled by that brick-hard biscuit. Moving on, I didn't like having a tip option at the register when I ordered. I tip for good food and good service, not for hopefully good food and service. It was my decision to add a tip and it just adds to my dissatisfaction of the experience. Second visit ... the last visit. I will share the "cutting a biscuit with a knife" comment with anyone who asks here in BCS.

Jordana G.

Yelp
Yum! Innovative BLTs, delightful spins on Mimosa, biscuits every which way. Tasty kettle chips, smoky bacon. The BLTS change from time to time. Today it was fried green tomatoes and smoky bacon. In the past they've served it with a toad in the hole on top. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was nicely done, as well. Recommended!

Sherry F.

Yelp
I came just for this place. Everything from the minute you step inside it was more than I expected. I will most definitely come back from Houston the drive was relaxing.

Lauren L.

Yelp
Great food and quick service. I got the avocado toast and my mom got the chicken and french toast. We split both and were amazing! We also tried to strawberry basil mimosas, very refreshing combo. Would recommend to any families/ parents coming into town.

Karen J.

Yelp
Fabulous food! Love all their breakfast items! Great coffee as well! The biscuits and gravy are delicious!

Myranda K.

Yelp
What a treat! After reading Yelp reviews, I tried this place with my aunt and uncle. The fresh squeezed orange juice was fantastic. I like that they have unique menu items that have a twist to them. I ordered and loved the Huevos rancheros. They were served on a blue corn tostado shell. My aunt ordered the April special of the Creole Hash with tomato gravy which she enjoyed. My uncle got the shrimp and grits which he raved about. It is a tad bit pricy, but otherwise no complaints. I'm new to town and just found my go-to brunch spot.

Elisabeth H.

Yelp
I came to Stella after graduation and they are a very proactive about crowd control and flow. The line was out the door and I ordered and was seated within 15 minutes. They had a process where you could only be seated after you ordered which decreased the wait time and I found to be incredibly efficient. Even though you order at the register, servers walk around and they can even take orders afterwards (ie you want another carafe). I had the shrimp and grits. Note this dish has some spice to it so if you don't like spicy food, let them know before hand. I'm not a bog fan of spicy food but it was just enough spice for flavor without it being uncomfortable. Their biscuits and gravy are to die for, they taste just like you dream like they would. Next time we are in town again we are coming back!

Melody W.

Yelp
Everything I've gotten here is delicious! Their traffic jam is so good that I buy it for my house. Their pot roast is my favorite thing to get. And if I really want to indulge, their bananas foster is next level delicious! The service is always good too. Me and my friend Brunch here several times a month and the mimosas are amazing!

John S.

Yelp
Great experience for weekend breakfast limited menu but does not disappoint great restaurant

Colleen B.

Yelp
First things first, i LOVE that they give free refills on iced coffee. if i was a native to college station (or there more often) i'd get a coffee cup for free coffee for life! Food was great and filling. Ate around 10am and still full hours later. Was a little expensive when you look at the menu, but the food quality it above average. I ate the avocado toast with two eggs ($13.50) and had a side of sausage (1 large piece at $3). My husband had the southern benedict ($10.50). The only thing that my husband suggested would be rather than smoked ham, he would opt for bacon if possible. He LOVED the biscuits. They were so soft and fluffy. Can't wait to go back and try more items from the menu!

L R.

Yelp
We ordered the Southern Benedict, the Frittata, and the peppermint French toast. Let me just say, we cleared our plates. Everyone try the special holiday peppermint French toast before it's gone. The breakfast was delicious! We enjoyed walking in, ordering, paying, and then sitting to be served our meal. The meal was brought to our table within 10 minutes. Stella's staff are friendly, accommodating, and attentive. The inside decor is farm house style and welcoming.

Phillip H.

Yelp
Great breakfast and brunch entrees. Had the veggie frittata which comes with a mixed green salad. Nice healthy option, prepared and served up fresh. The coffee bar is good too. May eat there again tomorrow!

Deya Z.

Yelp
Alright, Stella, I see you! This has become our go to place since moving here, and so far it hasn't disappointed us! It's definitely got a new/modern southern feel to it, and the decor matches. I've noticed most restaurants in BCS have this weird line-order-sit set up, which I guess saves time. If this had been my first review, I'd have knocked it a star but now I'm on to you, CS! Be open minded that you aren't getting a full service restaurant when you stop by. The coffee is delish, as were the mimosas. The food was tasty as well, with a twist on traditional classics. BUT, the biscuits, the biscuits are literally the softest things I've ever had. The berry jam/compote was super tasty too! The outdoor seating is fantastic, just wish they had more of it. Knocked down 1 star bc it would be great to have some offerings outside of mimosas & beer.

Brian F.

Yelp
The food quality is very good, and the service rendered was what you would expect. The only con was the quantity of food received. The portions were quite small and we all felt hungry after leaving the restaurant.

Shim L.

Yelp
Ambiance was great, sort of modern chic-industrial. Tried the "special" hash with andouille, potatoes, ochre, crawfish, and two eggs. A bit spicy but very tasty. Great biscuits and jelly. Others enjoyed traditional eggs dishes and were complimentary about taste and presentation. Very nice experience.

Sarah W.

Yelp
Definitely eat at Stella's. Food is delicious. Farm raised goodness in a creative home cooked meal. Many options for the whole family. My family and I make sure to stop for a filling breakfast.
