My wife’s friends were visiting from Florida and wanted to try Stephanie’s on Newbury for breakfast on Sunday, November 2nd. Since I’m not familiar with Boston, I called the night before to ask about parking. The young lady who answered the phone was exceptionally friendly and helpful — she gave me several detailed parking options and couldn’t have been nicer about it. I even apologized a few times for asking so many questions, and she said, “Please, no need to apologize! My job is to make sure you have a great experience, and we look forward to seeing you.” That level of care and enthusiasm immediately impressed me.
When we arrived the next morning, we were greeted by the hostess, who was just as warm and welcoming. Since the restaurant had just opened for the day, we chatted a bit while waiting to be seated. I asked what she liked on the menu, and she enthusiastically listed a few of her favorite dishes. I could tell she really knew the menu inside and out — her energy and passion set a great tone before we even sat down.
Once seated, we were greeted by our server, Mark, who was both extremely professional and genuinely upbeat. The breakfast menu at Stephanie’s is full of tempting options, and I’ll admit, I had a hard time deciding what to order. Mark kindly shared some of his personal favorites and gave thoughtful recommendations. Based on his suggestions, I went with the Huevos Rancheros and also decided to try the Stephi’s Loaded Home Fries after hearing him talk them up.
The food was absolutely outstanding. The Huevos Rancheros were bursting with flavor — perfectly cooked eggs, a hearty and flavorful bean base, and a zesty sauce that tied it all together. The Stephi’s Loaded Home Fries were easily some of the best I’ve ever had — crispy on the outside, tender inside, and loaded with all the right toppings. My table also ordered the stack of pancakes, breakfast skillet, sausage, and a slice of Boston Cream Pie — and everyone agreed each dish was over the top good. The pancakes were fluffy and golden, the skillet was hearty and well-balanced, and the sausage had that perfect snap and flavor. The Boston Cream Pie was a showstopper — rich, creamy, and the perfect way to end such a fantastic breakfast.
Throughout the meal, Mark was extremely attentive. Even while juggling several tables, he never missed a beat — keeping our coffees and drinks refilled, checking in at just the right moments, and maintaining his upbeat, professional attitude. You could tell he truly enjoys what he does, and that energy made the entire experience even better.
All in all, this was a fantastic breakfast experience from start to finish. Even though we live over an hour away, we’re already planning to come back — not only because of the incredible food, but because of the unbelievable customer-focused staff like Mark and the wonderful hostess (whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch).
I highly recommend Stephanie’s on Newbury to anyone looking for a fabulous dining experience in Boston. It’s rare these days to find a restaurant where every single team member genuinely cares about making your visit special — but at Stephanie’s, that’s exactly what you’ll get.
