I don’t usually post reviews but my experience with Sterling G&G was so exceptional I felt the need to do so. I had looked at numerous online liquor stores for a shipped delivery of an expensive, hard-to-find bourbon. All of them made disclaimers that the unusual design of the bottle seal might lead to leakage. They offered a store credit if leakage occurred. Not satisfactory. Additionally, online reviews of those companies often indicated that orders were not fulfilled, with items being actually out of stock, despite them being “available” on their websites. I cannot emphasize enough how impressed I am with Sterling’s service. First, they actually had the hard-to-find bourbon in stock. Second, I received a confirmation email within hours of my purchase, providing a UPS tracking number as well as photos of my packing slip and the bottle being wrapped and boxed. Third, my order arrived the very next day with the box clearly marked Fragile and This Side Up. Inside, the bottle was nestled inside an inflated pouch. The “fragile bottle seal” that other vendors wouldn’t guarantee was completely protected and intact. I also appreciate that Sterling uses UPS as their shipping partner since UPS is far superior to FedEx and USPS for package care and timely deliveries. I would not hesitate to buy from Sterling Grapes and Grains again.

After much web and store searching, I was able to locate a hard to find French wine at. Speaking with the staff was very helpful. They confirmed the vintage and other details, even providing a photo. The per bottle cost was quite reasonable for a hard to locate wine in the US. The wine was shipped the same day and they promptly provided tracking information. The bottles were exceptionally well packaged for shipping. After sales follow up was good as well. I highly recommend doing business with Sterling Grapes and Grains.

So far so good! We have been looking to retry some Stellenbosch bottles we had while in South Africa a couple years ago - and to age a couple of them. They’ve been difficult to find so we had this store ship them to us across the states. Also snagged some Buffalo Trace. The store has been great to work with and responsive in a timely manner. They went above and beyond to get me the specific wine (which is very hard to find) that I was looking for and the vendor delayed their shipment. They emailed and called me to discuss the best option for me and waiting the extra month was worth it. They were very communicative, responsive and easy to work with! Highly recommend them!

We go to this killer bar called Bastia in Fishtown. They make a drink called the Hotel Cala and it’s got mirto in it. We can’t find mirto in Philly so we checked out NY and of course we found it here and got it delivered so we could make our own. Fantastic service. Thank you!

Sterling Grapes & Grains is another great example of small business that cares about their customers and is a neighborhood staple. Folks were really helpful in recommending options according to my budget, and I was able to buy a gift in a very timely manner after calling to confirm inventory. For those who like to shop online, as of Jan 2025, they use a cityhive platform for their online orders so it's a familiar interface for any wine/liquor enthusiasts that shop online often. As others mentioned too, they do offer delivery and they pack with care, so I was happy to use this when I couldn't stop by the store. Looking forward to working with Steve on my next shopping excursion!

Did an online order and it was shipped even faster than expected--they called me and said there might be up to a 5 day delay because I ordered something that had to come from their distributor, but was shipped next day anyhow. If you want a variety of wine and liquor that's cheap in Brooklyn, this is the place to come to. They'll also deliver if you can't make it. The selection is large so they'll definitely have what you're looking for. Customer service is definitely the best I've ever gotten. They've given me recommendations on my preferences and helped me pick out choices I've never heard of!

The best friendly, neighborhood wine/liquor store! All the staff here have become friends over time. I'm here at least twice per week, and someone is always available to help me select the perfect wine. They have a great variety from all over the world, but the best part is the price range - the have a shelf of wines starting at $7! My favorite when I need a glass after work, but I'm on a budget. They also have tastings of wine and liquor every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and you can join them for more formal, seated tastings if you follow the schedule on their Instagram. Overall, as good as it gets!

I have to say the new owners (I guess not that new anymore) are great. They're very knowledgeable and will throw in some humor if you want to chat about any of their liquors or wines. I sometimes stop by to see what wines they have on sale, though their prices are always very good - sale or no sale. I recently visited to but some soju, which is hard to find in this neighborhood. I wish they had some flavored varieties but the fact that they had any soju to speak of means their selection is . Lastly, they offer a delivery service. I haven't taken advantage of that yet but am excited to try this out.

Where do I start! Great selection of alcohol at reasonable prices. Randomly stumbled upon this place on my way to my friends house warming and was shocked at the selection they had. Space was very tidy and clean, staff were friendly, and good alcohol! If you're looking to get tipsy, this is your place Thank me later!

Three stars for the overall experience in delivery and prices of wines. But I'd like to remind the owner of a bad experience with one of the delivery drivers. This man, who I believe was hispanic, was at my door and by the time I opened the door and gave him the money and said, "Here's 26.00..." He then LODGED his foot at my door and then said it was 21.66. I was a bit stunned. I told the delivery driver that I thought it was 20.66....he still LODGED his foot at my door while looking at the receipt ... and finally said, "Okay....I guess." When I called the manager and asked what my bill was, and he said it was for 20.66. I think that delivery driver should be disciplined so this does not happen again. So unnecessary and definitely intimidating and unprofessional.

This has become my favorite wine store in the area. The new owners are so friendly and amazing. The in-store tasting have been superior lately. Also, I Love Italian wine and their selection has blossomed. They have all my favorites.

My friends recommended this wine store to me, and rightly so; the prices are right, the selection is good , I only drink white wine these days, but they had a nice selection of reds and spirits as well. I would definitely go there again. It's not fancy but it's got a good wine, and good prices, and great service.

All the usual things you might want and then some. They're starting to curate a more and more interesting selection. Maceration wines, ancient method, organic. Support this great friendly neighborhood spot! Crown Royal for my aunt and weirdo natural wines for me.

Great selections and employees! I was looking for a specific Japanese whiskey and the employees really take their time to help me find it. During the visit, I observed many customers are long-time customers who know the employees by name and love the selections they have in store. If you have a chance, stop by and try their sample selections they have.

I am not a big yelper, but I gotta say, hats off to this establishment for going above and beyond for me when my vodka got into a fight with the sidewalk. I will be a regular (insofar as I want to be a regular of a liquor store).

This is, in my opinion, the best liquor store on 5th Avenue, possibly even in all of Park Slope. And I'm a drinking professional. This isn't your typical wine boutique that's trying to capitalize on all the stroller moms with money. This place has been here for decades, when the neighborhood was still a sketchy place to be. There's no glam here. They're neighborly ("look at our new lotto machine!") and they've got a great selection. Yes, they do carry things like Yellowtail, Berigner and all that mass-produced crap, but they cater to all. They have something for everyone, and their prices are great. For example, I was in love with this Oregon Fume Blanc that I bought elsewhere for $14 (just down a few blocks). They had it here for $9.99. I don't know how they do it, but they do. I also know that they have a pretty good whiskey selection as well - not that it's super amazing, but I've seen things here I haven't seen at Astor. Plus, they have the biggest selection of mini-bottles I've ever seen. I know, I know, that's not usually a plus, since it tends to attract vagrants and drunkards. But they have minis of liqueurs and spirits that I've never seen in that size before - a good investment if you want to try something before you buy a full size (Killepitsch, St. Germain). Did I mention they deliver? But whatever. You needed to go to the Key Foods across the street anyway.

I hand them $5, they hand me a bottle of wine, I don't know of any other liquor store on 5th Avenue where that is possible. Also, they stock at least 3 types of Bota Box at all times. This review makes me sound like a bum. :( Perhaps I'll stop by SG&G after work today to pick up a $10.99 bottle to restore my self-worth.

This place is the best. I always order my wine for delivery from them and the same nice guy shows up very quickly. They have the best customer service and selection. This mama is grateful for you guys!

Decor wise, it's nothing special. But maybe that's why it has such good prices. The selection of inexpensive wine is, based on the few things I've tried, is very good. Nice people but I don't know if I'd trust them to recommend expensive wines. But maybe I'm wrong... Borderline 4 stars,

I'm not one to usually write a review, but this place changed my mind. Came here because the usual spot was closed and was incredibly satisfied with that decision. Huge selection to choose from and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly in helping me choose. I've got a new favorite spot. Would definitely recommend!

Came in off a recommendation from a friend to get a bottle of wine for a dinner with a few friends and the staff did not disappoint! Super helpful after I told them what we were planning to have and they recommended a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc for our meal. Would definitely come back again!

This store has always been the best, and my go to wine and liquor spot in the neighborhood; they are friendly, reasonably priced with a great selection, and give great recs. With the covid pandemic they've really gone above and beyond- taking orders via phone or even DMs, choosing great wines despite my limited wine lingo, quick deliveries, and the ability to swipe your card with their delivery person! Thankful to have such a wonderful spot in the neighborhood!

The stores in a great location with a solid selection of alcohol. There's tastings and a friendly staff that are a good help. I had a pleasant experience and would recommend dropping by here for your liquor needs. Will be coming back here again .

Hands down one of the best liquor stores I have stepped foot in. Not only do they have a huge selection of what ever it is you need, the staff is very friendly and keep the place very clean. And their prices are very good. Definitely would recommend to anyone that asks for a liquor store.

This is definitely a no-frills establishment, so for the lack of atmosphere I knocked off a star, but this place is pretty great overall. They've got a friendly staff that will point you to wines that fit your taste and budget, and a nice selection that's cheaper than the fancier wine shops in the area. And it's right across from Key Foods! They have a credit card minimum, but they tend to be flexible if you don't make the $15 limit.

We call Sterling about once a month to have them deliver some of our favorite liquids. They know us now and take the order over the phone, give us the price (always among the lowest) and show up within the hour. What's not to like? If they don't have what you want, ask and they'll get it for you. This is exactly the kind of wine/liquor store every neighborhood needs (and that so few have).

Came in and was immediately greeted cordially. I've come in a couple times and every time I needed help, the assistance by the staff was really friendly. They were able to help get what I needed and knew the store in-and-out. Did not really spend any extra time and was able to assist me with efficiency. Their wine selection is about on par with others in the area, but their prices are usually better. If you are looking for a wide selection of moderately priced wine (ie $10-$30 / bottle) then this is your place in north park slope. If you want a wine outside of that range, there are a few boutiques close by with a better selection (hence the 4 star rating). Their hard liquor selection is also broad, and the cheapest I've been able to find. The staff is polite, but not overbearing, and certainly not nearly as snooty as most places. Plus, they play rather good 70's rock most of the time.

My go-to liquor store. A lot of the prices are similar to Astor Liquors in manhattan, when you take into account the subway fare there and back to get those wine+liquor deals. The lady behind the counter is usually nice too, despite sometimes having to deal with sketchy people. Also it's across the street from Key Foods, so you can combo errands.
