"South Bay’s unsung drive-thru Steve’s (not to be confused with the also solid Steve’s Charburger), makes some of Torrance’s finest diner fare like burgers, turkey club sandwiches, and cheesy breakfast burritos with crisp bacon. The drive-thru is pretty ancient and the food isn’t as fast as one would think, but that just means the food will be hot, fresh, and really tasty right out of the bag. Ask for a little extra salsa for the breakfast burritos, chunky and just tangy enough to add a spicy kick." - Farley Elliott, Mona Holmes

Google
First time going here and is probably one of the top 3 charbroiled burger spots I’ve been to. We got California Burger with chili cheese fries and drink. It comes with 1000 islands sauce, bacon, avocado (cheese is additional) Double cheese burger combo. These burgers off the bat look so delicious and juicy. They taste delicious too. The fries were a bit soft, I would prefer a bit crunchier. We waited about 5min for the food which was pretty quick. All that came out to $32 which isn’t bad for some pretty good burgers.

I grew up on Steve’s but they just aren’t the same any more. They used to have great prices and the food was delicious. Nowadays the prices are to the roof. The other day I bought two breakfast burritos mixed meat, it was very delicious but I paid $24.67 just for the two burritos. I was better off buying the ingredients at the local store and making them myself. SMH Probably would of spent less money. Plus a $4.00 tip so almost $30.00 for two breakfast burritos and nothing to drink. Don’t ever buy their salads either unless you like lots of yellow and white crunchy pieces hardly any green in the salad. I believe it’s $12.00 for a chefs salad. If your going to pay that much on a salad I recommend Tam’s Long Beach on Anaheim ST. About the same price and never any hard yellow and white crunchy pieces. All green salad. JS

Google
Pros: Burger veggies were fresh lettuce, tomato and all. Flavor was 60% good. Meaning it was an average Bacon Cheese Bueger. Bun was the best. Customer service is great. Cons: patty was so thin. McDonald's thin. Price is 2 dollars over priced compared to other burger joints with similar flavors. Not my top choices, but a quick bite sure.

Google
I ordered a side of fries and I got old fries. They were sitting for sure. I should have checked my bag before I left, or I should have just asked them to prepare me a fresh order, I just assumed they would. Highly disappointed. They are usually pretty awesome, but this is the second time this has happened. Lesson learned.

Google
Steve’s is a place you come to when you aren’t looking for anything special; just something to fill your belly with average tasting but satisfying food. The Good: Unless they are slammed at dinner time, your order comes up pretty fast, unless you are in the drive thru, then you will have a much longer wait. Second, I always leave here feeling full when I get a combo meal, which includes fries and a medium drink with your entree. Over the years I’ve tried all the standards (chili dogs, tacos, and the different burgers), but nothing stands out except the Taco Burger, which is really good. The Bad: The prices for certain items seem excessively high even in this current economy: 85 cents for a cheese slice on your burger, or $17.56 for a Pastrami Burger combo that’s made with a thin beef patty and a small amount of mediocre tasting pastrami. Also, they don’t clean the tables and seats frequently enough. Expect to search around for a place to eat that isn’t sticky and greasy. Steve’s isn’t bad, but it’s also not special. It’s a place to go when you need something convenient.

Google
I've been coming here off and on for 20+ years. When I'm in the neighborhood and want a charbroiled burger I'll stop by. Food has been consistent the employees always friendly and the interior kept clean. 7/8/23 I haven’t been here in a few years. The food is still good and so is the service.

Google
Good clean and quiet location . seems slower on weekends .good food but as other restaurants prices up almost doubled in the last few years due to the 15 dollars minimum wage lie .

Cesar Candia

Google
Great food. Get the veggie omelet but instead of hash browns get beans 🫘 and instead of toast get corn fried tortilla with the green salsa

Nee L.

Yelp
Was craving Fried chicken 10am & yes they make soo good this plate hit the Spot for me . Chicken is crispy & bomb. The Drive thru was nice & sweet very respectful , great service always . I will always get this dinner & grilled cheese . Everything is package well .

Yelp
Decided to find a quick breakfast and Steve's was on my way home from the ENT so I figured why not. I knew they'd added a drive thru a number of years back so I thought I'd just use it instead of going inside. I was supposed to find the narrowest drive thru I've ever seen. I think it was built for drivers of Yugos and the Honda Civics built in the early 70s the size of a breadbox (and small ones at that). I ordered breakfast burritos for my wife and myself and was glad to see that the price was still reasonable considering the insane increase in the prices of fast foods recently. About $9 seems to be a deal these days. It wasn't huge but it was a good sized burrito. A lot better than the pastrami I ordered the last visit. The girl working the window was very helpful and when she asked if I'd like salsa, she provided a generous number of containers. I appreciated her positive attitude even for such a small order. I wish we could give 1/2 stars to acknowledge an establishment where the food doesn't warrant a full 4 stars but there are additional factors that should be recognized as well

Lesley A.

Yelp
Only giving 2 stars because the manager was nice enough to swap my salad. My order was small chili cheese fries a club sandwich and grilled chicken salad for $40 I don't mind paying when the food is fresh but these $40 hurt. The lettuce was brown and soggy, the fires were very hard and stale like they've been sitting out all day. I won't we going back!!!!

Jeremy L.

Yelp
I normally come here for a breakfast burrito before my kids soccer games at Columbia. I've tried a few of their burritos. I used to get the bacon one. After discovering the chorizo, I get that now. Pretty basic but always hot and fresh. Their chorizo has good flavor. Overall its a decent breakfast burrito spot. Nothing over-fancy or anything. I don't really like their salsa. It's like a pico de gallo type. Not too spicy either. It's really close to the park though so I'll likely come back for their next game.

Sandra C.

Yelp
2.5 to 3 stars: I did not order a burger (even though it's a burger place--shame on me) -- but this place has a limited Mexican menu. I had a steak quesadilla which had cheese and meat inside and was toasted on outside--it was okay; not great, not bad. Came with side of salsa (not very good), green sauce, and sour cream. My uncle's fried chicken sandwich did not look that great By the way, I checked in on yelp which said "free small fries" with purchase of at least $15 (and we spent over $30) but the cashier did not honor it--something about the machine wouldn't do it. Sign posted said 4% charge for using credit card so I paid in cash. That is fair. Not crowded on a Mon night -- three other customers there.

Yelp
When I come to Steve's I usually order chili cheese fries and it's always a hit!!! But I can't say the same for their omelette!!! It's the worst I've had and it's soooo dry!!!

Mr F.

Yelp
When the say large Fries, they mean large fries!!!! Well worth the price you pay. So delicious, love the seasoning salt. I'll have to try their pastrami next time...

Mcsetho B.

Yelp
I ordered the French toast breakfast scrambled eggs sausage well-done it was perfect fresh and delicious and the customer service was great. Love everything this was really a good way to start my day.

Joe I.

Yelp
Steve's on Prairie has been here for a long time and I'm not sure what has happened to this place but the food quality has fallen off a ledge. The service is Decent but you can definitely tell there are some new faces my guess new management change. I ordered my normal chili cheese fries with onions and not only was the fries old and shaggy but the chili was cold. It's sad because I always thought this location was a good middle man but I will be taking the drive to the Steve in Athens or the Steve on Crenshaw, 182th is no longer good.

Ann A.

Yelp
Food - I randomly tried Steve's as I was driving to work and craving a breakfast burrito. They had a drive-thru so that made it easy. I tried the bacon breakfast burrito. It's filled with bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. The green salsa and pico de Gallo were great condiments. So this was probably one of the best breakfast burritos I've had in a long time. The detail of the pickled onions in the pico de gallo gave it such great contrast of freshness. I wish I had taken a photo of the burrito but was at work and had no time. Service - at the drive-thru was efficient. Answered my questions with my different burrito options. Ambiance - Standard drive-thru. Well kept parking lot.

Yelp
I love coming here for breakfast, lunch and even dinner. The people in here are very nice and the restaurant inside looks amazing. I love their french toast and the steak and eggs. If you're not eating at Steve's Burger then what are you doing?

Hyon K.

Yelp
My favorite place for burgers and fried since high school (over 2 decades). Loved their food all the time. But what is going on with service? They began to charge extra for all the little things (extra ranch) and now a surcharge...! What is going on? A bit disappointed.

D T.

Yelp
Great food, the service was outstanding, and the restaurant was spotless clean. Everyone is always so kind. 10/10!

James H.

Yelp
Best gyros in the south bay good tzatziki sauce and the French fries are good as well.

Mark M.

Yelp
I've been back here many times since my initial review and find that my rating has improved in that time. Yeah, this location is best avoided from 3-4pm in the afternoon when the high school crowd shows up (on school days), but at other times, the experience here is much more pleasant. Also, I've found the food quality in the last few years has been much more consistent, for the better. And the service has been very good too.

Nicholas S.

Yelp
We went to Steve's last night and we were shocked how small the $13.50 pastrami sandwich portion that the Mexican cook made us. That didn't happen until he looked back and saw I was with my Black boyfriend. I noticed that after he saw that he made the sandwich with very small portions and they tried to justify it through the cashier. We gave it back and they didn't care or give our money back. I don't think so , "Customer Favorite " I don't think so Not anymore... Angie Styles very Racist Situation

Les G.

Yelp
Dropped by Steve's for a burger and shake fix - solid time! Burger was on point, shakes were pure bliss. Ernesto's customer service? Aces. Super friendly, hooked me up with menu tips. When service rocks like the grub, you bet I'm coming back for more.

Sherrie N.

Yelp
I ordered two simple breakfast combos, a Pancake combo and French Toast combo, both were awful! The worst pancakes I've ever tasted in my life...they tasted like uncooked flour, seriously! The French Toast was tasteless just like warm bread! Blah service and they had nerve to ask when I was paying if I wanted to add a tip! How in the world can I put value on service when I haven't received my food yet? It's a good thing I said no, I'm so angry because both breakfast combos went right into the trash which I feel horrible about considering how expensive food is now. I was too upset to drive back and return the food!

Nicole P.

Yelp
Ordered a cheeseburger combo and 1/3 cheeseburger. But I call it a quarter pounder. The clerk just thought I asked for another regular cheeseburger. I keep looking at my receipt and it was wrong. I inform the server. He apologized and offered a free drink. But I asked for some fries. I guess the cook didn't like it. The cook went off on the sever. The server was doing his job. He made the situation right. I did not like the cook attitude. Plus the cook gave me crumbs as fries. I love the taste of this place. But the quality is going down. This took place an hour before closing. Shout to the server: awesome customer service.

Fair Y.

Yelp
This guy no longer works at Steve's. All Steve's employees are top notch and give good service for eating in and to go.

Joe D.

Yelp
I decided to stay local and grab a few breakfast burritos from Steve's this morning. And I usually enjoy the food here. And usually I have no complaints, however today I was able to watch my food being prepared through the drive through window and that was a mistake, I watched the cook make the eggs and throw bacon in the eggs while they were cooking. I watched the eggs burn to a golden brown. The hash browns got thrown on as the eggs were cooking. He got a tortilla placed the eggs and bacon on the uncooked tortilla and repeated that for the three burritos. Meanwhile the hash browns were cooking for just a few minutes. I got home the food was hot but not cooked the way I like it. Next time I will just stay my butt at home. Burnt eggs, and raw hash browns. No bueno. I turned on a skillet and cook my hash browns till they were cooked through. And shouldn't you flip the tortilla so both sides get cooked? A busy kitchen should not dictate the quality of the food.

Yelp
I went to North High School & grew up on Steve's. I went back today for a childhood craving and was sadly disappointed. Each thrifty's shake is nearly $7. I know inflation is on the rise, but wow! Costs more than espresso. I ordered a tuna melt and the tuna inside was ice cold, mushy, messy. Not melted. The fries were undercooked and tasted like they were previously frozen. The wonderful cashier (who earned the 2 stars) offered to swap out the tuna melt for me. She was very kind, but sadly the ham and cheese sandwich was no better. Huge, thick pieces of ham that you can't chew. Bread & cheese are totally flavorless, they just taste like grease. We didn't finish our food. My son's pancakes were just okay. Nothing tasted good and we spent $35 + tip. In this economy, the poor food and high prices compelled me to leave a review. Again thank you to the cashier for being so nice.

Gene P.

Yelp
Best chili-cheese fries in the South Bay!! Been one of my GO TO since I can remember...get that extra ranch dressing too!

Brandon S.

Yelp
You guys really need to change out your soda machine. It has been going on for way to long and I am tired of paying for flat sodas every time I come to this location, all the others are fine.... It's every brand of soda not just one ........ come on

Daryn M.

Yelp
This was my first time coming to Steve's. I didn't expect to pay nearly $20 for a pastrami sandwich combo that is slim in size and not extra meaty. The lady at the drive thru window heard me ask for ranch and ketchup but didn't put it in my bag. I said have a nice day to her and she just looked at me with a straight face. The food was ok, but the customer service has room for improvement.

Maggie A.

Yelp
Fried Zucchini is so good, the service is top tier, will definitely be a regular there!

Skj L.

Yelp
South bay locals we have been coming here for over 12 years! They have the best breakfast burritos in town and gyros and can't forget to mention my all-time favorite chili cheese fries, the best of the best!!!!!!!!!! The service is amazing! Friendly, Fresh & Fast. Great vibes always at Steve's!!!! Special shout out to the staff for always having great and energetic attitudes!!!

James G.

Yelp
Amazing service! Must try the beast fries part of their secret menu way better than in n out animal fries amazing! Great ambiance!

Kimberly E.

Yelp
Garden burger with cheese wasn't very good today I wasn't impressed with my food not sure if I'll be back

Jasmin B.

Yelp
Close to my home but I wasn't impressed with the food or prices. I ordered a small chili cheese fry and thought it was overpriced for the size. They also didn't taste that good, almost like the fries weren't fresh. I'm hesitant to return for any item because I feel it's overpriced in general, but others may have some luck!

Vito M.

Yelp
Now they are charging for using your credit card The food is still good but this is ridiculous I'll eat somewhere else from now on.hope Fantastic opens soon

Mario C.

Yelp
Today I went to buy burgers at Steve's char- burger on Praire and the guy at the drive thru ask if he should put the tip on my card or do you have cash for the tip! Super rude If you use a credit card be ready to pay $2.25 per transaction when the company that process the transaction is charging them .50 cents and than they pocket $1.75 If you provide me with good service believe me I will tip you! If you are pushing for me to give you a tip when the service is not good! You forced me not to leave you anything! Ambiance is great when the women are running the place, you always get amazing service! Business Owner made things right thank you

Craig Y.

Yelp
Located on the the corner of 182nd and Prairie in Torrance. Good amount of parking. They also have a drive thru. Inside has a good amount of tables. Back in the day this was the hotspot for lunch cause it was walking distance from my High School we came here a few times. They have a good amount of choices of breakfast, lunch and dinners. Of course known for the burgers. I got a basic burger which was a bacon cheeseburger combo. Overall a great spot for your hunger needs weather a burger or a dessert like a shake or breakfast they got you covered.

Joslyn F.

Yelp
OVER PRICED!!!!! If you want to be charged over price for Less quality then this is you place. Such a DISAPPOINTMENT!!! $0.85 for a small ranch like not a decent container small like WTF . Drink $3.00 for a medium that get charged as a small at other places. The food is good but nothing that I want to be charged for again. They upped the price on a small chill cheese fries and small fries again. SMH sorry but I won't be coming here anymore I'd rather go to jack in box , McDonald's or little ceasers pizza then this place. HONESTLY SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE NOT HERE. Over charging people shame on you. I would come here all the time but no not anymore. Sorry Steve's you lost yet another member of the community cause you got money hungry.

Jeff S.

Yelp
People dont love this place? I am shocked! On a recent trip to the area we stopped by Steve's and were treated to some awesome burgers and fries. I got a double burger and it was so big, charred and juicy, I absolutely loved it. Fries were fresh and delicious too! Price was around $10 and change which seems fair for the big meal I got. Staff was quick wlth getting the order out, even though they were quite busy. Overall great experience. Five stars. I am definitely a fan.

Lyle O.

Yelp
I've been coming to Steve's off and on now for over 10yrs and service has always remained steady. Not overly friendly and not overly rude just plain solid customer service - thank you. The girl who helped me thru the drive thru was nice and solid. The food itself sausage breakfast burrito, vegetarian burrito and pancakes were all excellent. Tasty and hit the spot.

Signe J.

Yelp
Closest spot that wasn't fast food, came for a milkshake on a hot day. $6+ later for a mediocre small milkshake, and some chili cheese fries with packaged shredded cheese on them, likely will not be back.

Alex F.

Yelp
Steve's Char-Burger is just ok. The food is just ok and a bit over priced. The one thing I have a problem with is that they charge a fee for debit or credit card charges and charge taxes on the their fee along with the food. I'm not sure if that's legal. I think it needs to be separated.

Kirk M.

Yelp
Got the Gyro last night - been sick like a dog ever since - def food poisoning These ass hats can't just serve bacteria slop and think it's ok Havnt been there for a year until last night and def won't go back

Rick L.

Yelp
This place has consistently gone down hill over the years. Used to be great , just what you'd expect from a Charbroiled burger joint that are famous in SoCal. Jim's, Steve's, Douglas, etc.

Diane H.

Yelp
I went to another Steve's and tried their pastrami sandwich. I gotta tell you, this one on Prairie was far the best. It hasn't changed in over 30 years. I figured the other Steve's would be the same but it wasn't. Their onion rings are just as good and hasn't changed either. I don't care how far I am, I'm going back to this Steve's.

Violet R.

Yelp
I ordered a combination burrito and it was cold, the sauces were watered down. The fries were mediocre. I pulled up and I saw the workers on the floor I guess cleaning and I thought to myself, "Wow! They just made my food." If I lived near this place I would've returned it immediately however, I don't. My suggestion is that you don't go to this place at night or anytime because you may get cold food.

Hanan I.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the service is amazing they welcome you nicely. I like coming to steves because it's right next to school and its also clean the other day one of the employees asked me how my days been.

Evan C.

Yelp
I love the California energy it's giving back an old dinner feel I only learned from my grandparents. The breakfast burritos and burgers are on top. And don't even get me started on the chilli cheese fries. I'm definitely coming back!

Autumn B.

Yelp
The beast fries are amazing id go as far as to say better than in n out animal fries. I grew up coming here and have never been disappointed and found out today about these fries from one of there kind workers. The remodel has made the ambiance feel way cleaner in here as well. If your hungry. Steve's is the place to be.

Jacqueline O.

Yelp
I'm completely hooked on their burgers and shakes! The burgers are bursting with flavor, and the shakes are a pure delight. Definitely deserving of 5 stars!

Brooke ..

Yelp
My daughter will only eat a cheeseburger and chili fries from Steve's; she says they are the best. You cannot go wrong with any item you order off the menu; the food never disappoints and the customer service is wonderful. One of my favorites is the Greek salad and tuna sandwich. Great place to stop for a bite to eat.

Ishmael F.

Yelp
Their pastrami sandwich is a flavor-packed masterpiece, and the agua de tamarindo is the perfect refreshing companion. I can't get enough! Solid 5 stars!

linda z.

Yelp
Been coming here for years. Great food . Ok service. Tonight all new staff and they were AMAZING !!! So nice and helpful .

Nicholas S.

Yelp
the cook made sure I had the smallest portion of pastrami sandwich for $ 13.50 ever I felt so disrespected very racist toward my Afro American heritage . I gave the pastrami back it was small and light some customers favorite I seen through it all they tried to justify about the cashier being new but it wasn't about the cashier it was about the racist Mexican cook
