Stew Leonard's

Very disappointed today. For starters I grabbed a cup of coffee, which used to be reasonably priced, but today, a medium for $3.64. Starbucks is $3.17, which is very expensive, but at least Starbucks is a good cup of coffee. We grabbed a Ceasars salad and rotisserie chicken: the salad had no salad dressing and the chicken was the size of a cornish hen. Not sure where the Stew high standard has gone.

Stew Leonard's is always fun and we all know the song by heart! They are glad you came to stews to get your shopping done!

Amazing! "Stew's" as its locally known is a gem. Best quality produce you'e ever seen. My kids love the free sames while we shop and we always stop at the petting zoo on the way home. Sushi here is very good and the chefs make some of the best looking dishes youve ever seen. There is a hot buffet as well thats a little pricey but good. In the summer the soft serve ice cream comes in clutch for the kids. I am lactose intolerant so its nice they have a dairy-free soft serve.

This place has so many options in every department! The staff are very helpful/kind and many asked how was I doing today. The fresh bagel selection is definitely top tier! Thank you Steward Leonard’s. Update: My wife & I have come to enjoy going to Stew Leonard’s. We’ve driven by Stew Leonard’s so many times over the years but not anymore. Thank you to our neighbor Fred that works in the butcher shop that recommended the establishment to begin with.

Stew Leonards is great grocery store, they prepare lots of food for us to choose, I love their muffins, bagels, breads, meals, milk etc..They have lots of ready made food to chose from.. They are helpful for us to pickup whatever food we want.. Parking lot is huge, you can pick a parking area anywhere.. Lots of carts outside to choose from.. It is a clean place, you will enjoy walking around looking at your choises in entire place.. Another good thing if you spend 100$ they will give you a free icecream choice!! 🤗 Enjoy your shopping..

There are singing avocados and dancing milk cartons. Fresh made apple cider donuts. Its like wonderland with good food.

LOVE this store, fresh and convenient. Always walk out of this store happy with new food items to try. Bagels are so good, and vegetables/fruit always so fresh. Stew brand coffee is great, and all the adorable animal character is cute enough to even make an adults day.

Fun store to visit especially with kids, a little more pricey for groceries than BigY but the hit food is way better

Love, love , love everything about Stew's. Going food shopping is like going to a fair. The food is always fresh, yummy, and perfect....no soft spots on the fruit, no outdated anything, veggies always super fresh, meat is always tops. Love the Stew Leonard's.

Omg this supermarket is food HEAVEN. Its HUGE. I stopped in today, after my checkout from a hotel near by. At first It was a bit overwhelming, but once you take your time, and ask the associate's questions you'll be fine . The associate's are so friendly and kind . Everything you can think of, stew's sells it. I got some groceries to take back home, as they had Maine lobster tails on sale and more . My husband and I also got dinner from the hotel food section which is also GIGANTIC. The supermarket is well kept and very clean . I think I've found a new love lol, and I'll definitely be returning. Also they had 18 eggs for 3.99, I stocked up lol.

If you live in Connecticut I don't see how you wouldn't love Stew's. This has been a staple of mine since I was a kid. It is food heaven. They have everything you could possibly be grocery shopping for, as well as hot foods and ready meals to take home, and an ice cream bar. I recently went to get my Christmas tree and the process was so easy. The trees are all pre-cut and after you pick one, an employee quickly runs over to help carry it over to the wrapping station. They wrap it and do a fresh cut of the stump, and then give you a ticket to pay with. We walked around the grocery store and shopped while they held onto our tree. We paid with our ticket at checkout, and then we simply had to drive around the building for pick up. They did all of the work -- threw the tree in the back of our truck, and in other cases strapped it to people's cars. The process is super quick and easy, and I appreciate how helpful they are!

This was my first time here! This place is a dream come true. I needed more time to look around so I will definitely be back! I could smell fresh apple cider donuts as soon as I walked in. Followed by protein shakes and ice cream. There were samples around the store that I found so fun! Everything was so fresh and I thought the prices were good! There was everything you can think of and more!! It was so clean and organized too. It is a bit of a maze in the store. Chocolate covered pretzels, corn on the cob, watermelon, berry toppers and crostini are just a few things I bought! I also got ice cream for the ride home!!

I've been going to Stew's for years because of the quality meats, seafood, and produce. The prepared meals and salads are quite good too. Produce can be a little pricey if not on sale, but then again, this place has quality products. The staff working there are always helpful and pleasant. Piece of advice, don't shop when you're hungry.

Stew Leonard's has a nice variety of fresh produce, as well as meats, fish, breads and many other things. I enjoy shopping there because of the quality of their products and their excellent customer service.

I went to buy some nice cod yesterday for a dinner we were having tonight. I trusted the seafood counter at Stew's to give me what I asked for - some nice pieces. I op-ed the bag today to find not one filet but rather the leftover tail pieces and belly meat. Never again will I buy anything from there again.

I've always loved stew Leonard's. So many fresh items to choose from and an overall fun experience, especially for kids. A bit pricey and not always the best for specific household items, but lots of creative things to choose from. Some of my favorites are the chipotle dip and the ice cream! Their rewards program has decent discounts. Store is always clean and usually well stocked. Staff have a friendly attitude and are always helpful

Meat guys are unfriendly. Checkout was a bit slow but they were young and just training- no biggie. Very little organics. Used to be a good go to for beef. But not worth the trouble.

You know what is amazing is how ghost towny this place is when it's after Christmas I mean we had to go here to get stuff for a extended Christmas party

Haven't been shopping here in a long time but our road trip took us to Danbury and we had to stop by. It's advertised as the world's largest dairy store. The store is clean and bright with food product stations throughout the store as well as some cute anamatronics, As one enters there are the baked goods section, coffee bean area, then cheeses, bagels by the lox , fish and seafood, fresh fruit and veggies, meats, pasta and sauces , flowers and plants, and so on as you walk on food route so to speak. Staff is always friendly. We bought a bunch of non perishables with the Stew Leonard's brand to enjoy. One can find the basic to gourmet food products here. Prices mostly reasonable for what you get and many products are often on sale

It's the third time in a row that I find chicken skins hidden under chicken tights! I buy the tights with the skins, but I certainly don't want to pay extra for the skins you took off for skinless tights which are more expensive! Hide one or two here and there and you CHARGE your customers even more!!! It is unacceptable and frankly, a scam! I gave you three stars because I like your produce, which has a quick turnover in Danbury, so for most part it is fresh. But you need to do better!!!

Quirky and cool local grocery store that reminds me of a forerunner to Whole Foods. Good fresh coffee at the coffee bar. Beans roasted in house. Excellent fresh breads. The pumpernickel is awesome! Good selection of everyday groceries coupled with local sourced unique items (eg interesting local apples and sausage). Negative- the store is set up as a maze to force customers to walk the entire store to shop. No targeted shopping possible.

A must visit shopping experience! Endless experiences with surprises around each corner. Outstanding quality and excellent prices.

The sushi has sugar and other carcinogenic chemicals. I have no idea why they choose to put this crap in their sushi. The salmon in the sushi is sushi farm raised. To control sea lice, the salmon industry has historically used chemical treatments and pesticides - including some that kill crustaceans like lobsters. Disease outbreaks and sea lice infestations at industrial salmon farms also threaten nearby endangered wild salmon and fish species that are key to fishermen.

Very disappointed. I haven't been to Stew's in a while. I always loved the Apple Crisp. Purchased it today. First of all, the container was smaller than usual, not a big deal, but the apples were under cooked. It just wasn't the same. The other thing, I purchased 8 chicken wings from the hot food section. $11. Are you kidding me?

Service sucks. Who is training these cashiers? They don't offer to bag and don't even move your items down the conveyor belt so you can bag. They are too interested in chatting with their pal than doing their job.

I'm going to say - the food is good but the tables are filthy and the table covers are soooo old - years old. For a huge company to neglect and have unsanitary conditions - sheesh. How does this pass health department requirements?

Hey Stew no paper bag offered at wine store in Danbury. Walked out like a stumblebum with 2 $100+ bottles of wine. Cashier was too happy to tell me no bag. You can do better, it's embarrassing.

Yesterday (9/11), I purchased chicken salad from the Danbury store and was shocked to find large bones, including two over an inch long. Expected better quality for $11 a pound. Unacceptable and dangerous for children- especially in a sandwich! Quality matters! Pricey store with "meh" products!

Stew Leonard's s great. The story about how it opened is a legend. They say that the New York Times called it the "Disneyland of Dairy Stores." It's a fun place especially for kids. The Norwalk location is the original one. This one at Danbury is great too.

My favorite place to shop and excited about getting food to cook or prepared food. Noted by Fortune as top place to work, I am glad for the employees who are always busy making things run smoothly. The vibe is almost like NYC with a lot going on with the food, but the people around are nice and keep to themselves. I didn't take pics but there many pic worthy items from desserts to unique creations. The flowers look amazing but by the time I get to them I don't feel like spending more money. Indeed pricey but isn't everything expensive now. The holidays are nice to go there and see all the great things they are making. If you are hosting, a great place to go to share all the food.

Went there yesterday; sadly no more samples and with all the plastic barriers it's sometimes difficult to hear or be heard. They still have everything you'd expect to find. They variety and quality haven't diminished. They have enough variety of pumpkins, tiny ones to almost to big to get into the car, exotic looking ones and at reasonable prices. Still one way aisle.

The supermarket is a great pleasure to shop in. Everything they had was either homemade or organic. I loved this place it was so much better than Shoprite and they were cheaper than Whole Foods. One thing they do not carry are many brand name products, all and all I highly recommend this store.

I am in love with Stew Leonards. The Danbury location is special as the establishment has it's own petting zoo across the parking lot next to Walgreens. The petting zoo features goats, chickens, and ducks. The store itself is large and adorned with hanging knick-knacks of barn animals that can sing and dance with a push of a button. The produce is stacked together neatly in bins. Everything is fresh beginning from meat and ending with vegetables. There is a large variety of premade food to choose from. The service is professional and prompt as cashiers ring patrons out at the registers. The staff is quick with serving patrons coffee, ice cream, and smoothies.

There is not much that Stew Leonard's soft serve ice cream cannot fix! One of our favorite local treats from childhood and through adulthood.

What a fun shopping experience. We were on a road trip to Connecticut and my boyfriend suggested we stop by a Stew Leonard's. I had never been and it had been years since he has. It literally is an experience. We took two laps through, one to get the lay of the land, and the second to pick up some goodies. You walk in and there is a bakery with fresh donuts and an ice cream stand. There are tons of samples throughout the store. There are also a bunch of interactive animatronics around the store too. The bakery was extensive. They had a great seafood area and where you could get hot lobster rolls made to order. The produce area was so overwhelming in a good way! So many different varieties of different fruits. The food in the buffet and pizza area didn't look great, but the convenience of it is great. There Is also a coffee bar, where we grabbed a tasty latte. We took a second lap to grab some goodies; the famous cookies, some of the different varieties of applies, and had to top off the trip with some Stew Leonard's T-Shirts. I see these there are some in North Jersey...hope they eventually make their way to Central Jersey!

Omg as an out of towner I am so jealous of this grocery store. This place is an experience. The ice cream is amazing and the bagels were warm during the middle of the day?!? Donuts were out of this world fresh. Great environment, excellent quality food. Their prepared foods are delicious as well. Got some mango salsa, yum! I can't wait to go back while I'm still in the area. They also have a petting zoo, idk any other grocery store like this one. This is a MUST check out.

I've always loved shopping at Stew Leonards. When I lived in New York, there was one five minutes from my house. When I moved to Connecticut, I found out there was one located in Danberry. Huge parking lot, just be careful when driving. The aisles are narrow and some people can't drive. The store is supposed to go in one direction, or at least that's what I have assumed over the years. Be wary of random shoppers flying the wrong way with their carts. The store is a little pricey for certain items, but you get what you pay for. All of their fresh foods are top quality. Their prepared foods are always a hit. Very good recipes and ingredients make their food stand out. They sometimes have samples but not when I went today. Lots of little entertainment for the kids as they are stuck there with their parent shopping. They've added a self check out to let the process go a little smoother. If you have never been here, definitely stop in. It is a shopping experience. Five stars!

Our favorite place to go grocery shopping. The store in an experience in and of itself. Terrific produce, quality in house foods, exceptional dairy options and welcoming atmosphere will keep us coming back for years and years.

Amazing shopping experience Okay, I am not from Connecticut. Passing through, and are you kidding me!!!! Spent an hour just strolling the place. Makes we wish I lived in Connecticut. JK!!! Cali all the way!! It's like a theme park grocery store. EVERYONE was friendly at Stewarts, and that goes a long way with me. Don't know if I will ever be in DANBURY CONNECTICUT again. Today was my first time going here and I'm absolutely in love. My brother takes his kids out here pretty often. Mostly because my nephew likes pushing the buttons and dancing. I was invited to join them today by my nephew and it's really just such a great and fun place. I'd like to actually get some food next time. This time I got cookies, cake, marshmallow treats, and a book. I really can't wait to go back.

This is a great place to shop with little kids! Plenty of buttons to push and cute little motorized puppet shows throughout the store! I was last here as a teenager and remembered it vividly, so I brought my little girls while on a road trip and they loved it. Great prepared food bar- hot bar, salad bfast, pizza parlor, Brazilian fare, sushi.... it's got the works! I didn't realize until we pulled away that they also have a PETTING ZOO!!!! We didn't have enough time to stop, but hopefully we can come again some other time!

I've got many great things to say about this place. Stew's has excellent, fresh products, great baked goods, hot foods galore, a pizza section, an Asian foods section and a very friendly staff. Walking about, there are several opportunities to sample items. It's always a good shopping experience. That said, I'd like to point out 2 suggestions: 1) The way the store is configured, people are forced to move in the same direction. You're walking on a one-way street, and if you realize you forgot something, you face the onslaught of oncoming traffic, and get looks from the customers whose flow becomes disrupted. If you walk slowly on the side, you get those Sunday drivers who want to pass you. You can hear their carts roll up on you like the sound of thunder. Still there are those who leave their carts in the middle while trying to decide if they want the corn or chocolate chip muffin tops, and you are at their mercy until they are gracious enough to move along to clear the bottleneck. 2) The men's room needs a good cleaning. In years past the restroom was hospital clean, but in recent times it's lacked attention. I find myself dodging puddles in the stalls and the towel dispenser is antiquated. Thank goodness there is a hand dryer. I know I'm putting a lot into this review, but I happen to feel this place has the ability to be a 5-star establishment, and I'm confident management will take notice of a valued customer's point of view.

What a fun store! I like that there are so many things for the kids to play. This does remind me of going to Whole Foods with all the good quality foods and bright colors of the veggies. We stopped out in the coffee areas to get a hot cup of coffee. The coffee is delicious and fresh and great priced. The pumpernickel bread is so delicious! Grabbed a loaf and enjoyed some sandwiches and even plain or even with a pat of butter, so chewy and soft. I did not have alot of time, but I enjoyed my quick run through the store. This store would be a dangerous for me because there are so many food items I want to try. I saw a rice cake machine and so tempted to go and try one. This store smells amazing!

Love it try the coconut shrimp !! Amazing Their meet are also great, and fresh! Service could be a little better but the product makes up for it

Many of my fellow Yelpers know about my obsession for Quik Trip, and Stew Lenny's causes the same stirring in my loins. Granted those two chains are nothing alike... I'm just saying SL's is swoon-worthy and makes me sad that we don't have something like that in the Atlanta area. some of these medium-sized grocery chains would be well-advised to expand into this area because we're monopolized by grocery corporations that have no connection to the local community. the baked goods alone at Stew Lenny's are good motivation to plan trips back to the area.

I love Stew Leonard's. I work all day and sometimes I stop by on my way home for something for dinner.The other day I noticed Cheese Fajitas, awesome. Then I saw Steak Cheese Fajitas! Wow, I bought one for dinner that night. You get 6 fajitas for $10.99 (9.99 for cheese fajitas) and as a woman alone that's two dinners. I heated 3 up per instructions and then dipped them in the sour cream and salsa provided and noticed there was something missing - THE STEAK. The next night, after warming the last 3 up, I opened them up and took pictures. These little clumps don't do it. There just isn't the amount of steak that there really should have been, in my estimation. It's pathetic.

Stew's the Best with a capital B I shop at the Danbury location often and I love it. Their chicken doesn't show any bruised sign is what I love and staff is amazing all the time I love Stew Leonard's.

Whenever I'm in Danbury to visit family, I always make sure to visit Stew Leonard's! I really do enjoy coming here and seeing all they have to offer. They always have TONS of samples (gotta try one of everything), and a variety of products to choose from. I find that they have some of the freshest produce in the area when compared to other grocery stores around. Lucky for me it was fall in the northeast when I came to visit so they had my favorite product, Apple Cider Donuts...YUM! The store layout can be a maze at times especially when trying to navigate through all the people, but once you've been a few times you'll know where everything is. Staff has been super helpful each time I've been there. Will definitely be making a trip back next time I'm in the area!

With most any food item sold here, we have never had a problem. All food is high quality and fresh. Until we bought a couple days' back - Croissant Bread. My wife cut a slice no issues but at the next slice I encountered this and wondered if it is typical to see this much air pocket in that type of loaf. We paid for 16oz 1lb. But with the hollowed out section we actually got 1/2 that.

Driving by, I had no idea what Stew Leonard's was - I just saw the giant silo and cows and a packed parking lot. I honestly thought it might be some sort of giant farm store aimed at dairy farmers until I saw all the people exiting with carts full of regular groceries. It's a fun place! You can pull on a cowbell and an animatronic cow will moo (employees must love that). They were celebrating Halloween when we were there and everyone had on silly costumes. The place is huge. Any grocery item that you could imagine has got to be sold at Stew's. They have tons of items under their own brand name at really good prices. I did notice meat and veggie prices were higher than stores around my area though. I loved their hot bar selections - numerous types of chicken, huge soup variety, fresh popcorn, freshly made sandwiches - I could go on and on! I think a weekday might be easier to navigate and shop than when I went on the weekend. Very crowded. I would pop in though as it's something fun to see even if you aren't there to do real grocery shopping. I must try their Stew brand wine next visit!

What an incredible experience Love Stew Leonard's. Hope they bring one to Florida best tortillas ever there.

Coming from out-of-state today on a leisurely drive, we stopped in today. Not only was it my first time coming in, but it was also my one brothers' first time too. Due to my mother's disabilities (having had a stroke) this summer, she was unable to come in. Although my first intention was to use the men's room when I entered (which I found rather rapidly), my first thoughts about the Stew Leonard's brand wasn't fantastic - to the point of perhaps walking back out. However, I powered through these thoughts and helped clean up from issues left behind from other customers there. I found only one working bathroom stall, and the other was really clogged up to the point it took one extended flush and a second one, to clean up the clog - and even found more #2 on the seat. I had to go both ways, so I used more toilet paper and flushed that stuff in-between times. Perhaps employees should make a periodic check of their restrooms here. (I later washed my hands with the really thin soap I found inside the restroom - and walked out of the bathroom - disgusted at this whole mess. Hearing from my brother (who had come back from his first time as I left to go), aisles are like a maze, so I really wouldn't want to get lost here. I didn't let that happen - although at first I spotted the ice-cream stand, my eyes spotted the candy and caramel apples and picked out the best choice - candy apples with Reese's Pieces coated in chocolate. But the shelves on the movable cart where I found them were mismarked (candy apples had signs for caramel apples, caramel apples had signs for regular apples and regular apples had signs for candy apples), but you could kind of mix and match to find the best price for that type of apple and you wouldn't be wrong and brought them up to the register - a small walk away. The aisles where i walked were clean and clear, but there were an awful lot of customers. Theres no one-way aisle markings on any of the aisles, so i guess its social distancing done with Honesty that you wont be within 6 feet of others. I hadn't ever been in a Stew Leonards (World's Largest Dairy Store) before, and this was my first time. I had heard all about the theatrical performances of the dancing animatronics inside (throughout this Yelp page) - and although I couldn't find them if I tried, my brother could hear them yapping away as he got his experience too. We were comparing this location to IKEA, but as opposed to furniture, it is wall to wall aisles filled dairy and local farm products - from stuff to plant in the ground to edible stuff ready to feed your face. Unfortunately, he found two packages of caramel popcorn - all locally produced/grown and was rather pleased with his purchase (as he ate most of it coming home). It seems like most of the stuff sold atStew's are locally produced. I was noticing upon the exit from the parking lit that your potted plants were from Danburry - along the signs i saw on exit. Prices weren't too bad, but then again, I can't compare this place to much of anything where I live, so I don't know if these items were accurately-priced or not to other comparable places - and even figuring the area and time of season (end of September), this could be a factor. The apple was $4.99 (without figuring the bag fee - described later). When I brought up my stuff to the register, the cashier was nice. She asked about bags (I knew about the bag fees), and after I paid, I noticed she had slipped it into a plastic bag. Its taboo to cart any plastic bag into my state. In fact: In my state, they frown upon any plastic bag - regardless of use or not - and no store is able to give or sell them to any customers. The bags are rather nice, spacious, and roomy and are really unable to be ripped, but when the person rang the bag up, I noticed they call these ten cent bag fees "recycle fees." Wouldn't it be easier and less costly to print "bag fee" and be more clear to explain what "recycle fee" means? I asked the cashier but was so wanting something so I didn't have to fear melting my candy apple on the way home from your place today - about an hour and a half drive - so i had to overlook it. I looked at them, explaining my state's viewpoints, but she turned and looked at me like "really?" I just turned and walked out. Parking was pretty tense getting there. With the petting zoo and all that within the same parking lot - coupled by the nearby Walgreens and Chase Bank lots combined into this, its pretty tense - but not impossible to navigate. We had some trouble at first finding open spots - especially ones that actually allowed my mom to see something appealing in front of her - and am happy to say getting close to the door was tricky - and thankful for our handicap placard - but wasn't too risque.

Lobster roll a big disappointment. One claw and filler 29.99 for 3 Never again Mostly Mayo What did I really expect My own fault. Shame on you stews! Bigger shame on me!

my daughter was visiting from England and wanted a lobster roll at Stew's. it was fishy, smelled fishy , was tough. the butter was good but that's about it. $50 and some for 3. I really did not care so much about the price but definitely not worth it at all.

Waiting in my car for catering pick up for over one hour . No staff outside to monitor line where people have cut in and cars backed up all the way onto the main road. Poorly run and won't return . Ever.z

What can I say about Stews that hasn't already been said. Great foods at great prices.

Didn't like this location as much as the Norwalk store. I was in the mood to both sample and to stock up and buy a ton today and there was only one measly sample of apple fritter with one bite left. It was a melee amongst customers to get that one morsel. Not any samples anywhere else throughout the store - unlike Norwalk. I also wanted to buy a bunch of prepared foods but they were not yet out as is was on the early side of lunch. Bummer. Space itself is nice and clean and aesthetically pleasing from the outside. It just sucks when you want to shop and don't for whatever reason.
