Google
We stopped here during a visit to Portland and can confidently say this is the best ice cream I have ever had!! With a gluten and dairy allergy I have been looking for a good ice cream option and this blew it out of the park - they even have homemade GF waffle cones!!! My husband who can eat dairy agreed the flavors were incredible and unrecognizable to dairy. The kindest staff too! We’ll definitely be back. (Candy Bar + Dino Crunch!)

Google
Exactly what the doctor ordered. It's me, I'm the doctor. My girlfriend and I were right around the corner enjoying dinner when the craving for vegan ice cream spawned. Low and behold, Sticky Sweet was there to save the day. Their naked dark chocolate ice cream was rich and flavorful, with added dark chocolate sprinkles, I was ascending to the heavenly gates on a cloud. Too much? Oh well, get you some joy on a cone!

Google
I was SO excited to try out this ice cream spot while visiting Portland for the weekend. I’m beyond happy a place like this exists! Being able to enjoy vegan ice cream at a scoop shop is wonderful. I ordered a large cone, so 3 scoops. Portion was generous and the texture was spot on - very creamy and smooth. I had the sea salt maple, pumpkin spice, & candy bar flavors. The candy bar was excellent and the pumpkin spice was very good. I didn’t really care for the sea salt maple, however. It had an unusual aftertaste to me. The homemade waffle cone was okay, not as good as I hoped but it was very fresh. I appreciated that it was homemade, vegan, AND gf. That’s awesome. You can tell the owners really put love into their ice cream & cones. I will definitely return to try the other flavors!

Google
I wish I could review more than once. I’m giving Sticky Sweet another 5 ⭐️ review for each visit over the past 2 years for being the worlds best ice cream!! Of course they are the best plant-based vegan ice cream, but there’s now no doubt in my mind that it’s the best ice cream I’ve ever had. Also the sweetest people behind the counter, always smiles ready to help with flavor details and personalized suggestions. Love you Sticky Sweet ❤️ 1st review - Looks like Portland will be seeing a lot more of me!! I got two scoops tonight, one sea Salted Caramel & one Fat Vanilla Bean stuffed in a delicious, fresh, homemade waffle cone!! Such a treat having amazing, plant based ice cream so close to home. So good!! We’ll see you again soon :)

Google
Absolutely amazing vegan ice cream! The cones were super fresh and uniquely delicious. Brought friends, and the non vegan was even impressed. Can't wait to try more flavors!

Google
This shop is absolutely wonderful!! There is such a variety of great vegan ice cream flavors, and I was thrilled to be able to enjoy a gluten free waffle cone! The staff are super friendly as well. I can’t wait to come back to Portland and try a new flavor:) Wish I could give 6 stars!!

Stephanie S.

Google
Decadently delicious! Thank you for offering such yummy vegan treats 💚 if I'm ever in Portland again, you can bet I'm stopping by for more! I had the lemon cheesecake - there were big chunks of tasty graham cracker crust inside. So good & very filling! Very kind & friendly staff too 😊

Google
Found Sticky Sweet in 2020 and return every year (so this review is far overdue). It’s our favorite ice cream spot in the US. The double size is a large serving!! We love the Sea Salted Maple w/ dark chocolate sprinkles.

Yelp
I went back to Sticky Sweet, have reconsidered my initial rating, and am glad I did! I think the key to Sticky Sweet (at least for someone who avidly enjoys dairy ice cream and isn't used to vegan alternatives) is to order fruit-based flavors. I find anything a la Oreo or chocolate to be a bit too chalky. The cup of strawberry jam I had was delish! Not to mention, the owner is such a sweetheart and the stand is perfectly positioned off of Washington Ave, which lured me in after a hearty meal down the road. Definitely worth stopping by if you're on the hunt for yummy dairy free or gluten free ice cream!

Yelp
A great option for diary free folks! The staff was kind and let us try as many as we wanted to get the right thing.

Yelp
I heard Sticky Sweet won best ice cream in Maine so I had to try it. They are only open 2 days a week, at least during fall -winter, for a limited # of hours so they are hard to catch. On my first visit, the people ahead of me had a cooler in their truck and spent over $300 on ice cream. I was influenced and purchased 6 pints of my own. Each flavor is delicious in its own way and contains significantly fewer ingredients than what you find in the grocery store. They now have soft serve, they I haven't tried but am dying to. You can find their pints at Montes if you can't visit during open hours.

Yelp
If you have a cashew allergy, don't come here. All of the bases to their ice cream is made of cashew. I was so excited that I found V/GF/EF/DF and then I get there and . The place was a little hard to find. There should be bigger sign or brighter sign; it kind of hides behind the tree. The gentlemen at the window was very nice though.

Yelp
Sticky sweet always hits the spot. Such great ingredients in their ice cream. We go there often and have tried lots of their flavors. I personally really love their Tahitian vanilla!

Yelp
I was beyond excited to discover a vegan ice cream stand in Portland and made sure we went straight there upon arrival as they were closed for the rest of our visit. Sticky Sweet is an adorable, walk-up counter on a fairly busy corner. Street parking is a bit tricky depending on the time of day. Seating is limited to a single bench out front (which we were lucky to snag) or your car. The daily selections are posted on a cute chalkboard. All of their products are vegan and don't contain refined sugar. Dates are the main source of sweetness in most things I immediate knew I wanted to try a sundae - vanilla ice cream with butterscotch topping and whipped cream in a waffle bowl. My mom went with the walnut maple ice in a waffle cone. We both enjoyed our selections. The texture isn't as smooth or creamy as traditional ice cream but definitely sweet. It was fun trying out a somewhat healthier treat and supporting a local plant-based business!

Yelp
After a relatively short winter, sticky sweet is back in action with a full display of summer. After several weekends of not being able to make my way over, we finally did on a Saturday around 6pm -- this place was poppin' like a pre-Covid mass gathering! They had more flavors on the rotation than they did in the fall and I was excited to try their local roasted latte. The SO got the peanut butter cone. I always remembered that their ice cream was salty (in fact my first review suggests their name should be salty sweet), but I was a little surprised that my ice cream was wayyyy saltier than the fast food fries with an extra 5 packets of NaCl. I'm dumbfounded that no other reviews think their ice cream is salty. Now, it doesn't mean it's not good -- in fact I enjoy the fact that it's not incredibly sweet, but I really felt like I was eating a savory treat than a sweet treat. The SO could not even finish his because he thought it was too salty. I don't know what it is -- I can't imagine that salt is one of the first three ingredients, but there is something about their recipes that confounds me. But alas, their cones are still one of my favorites I've had. I'll definitely go back again, but I probably need to give it some time. Maybe we were just über thirsty after a warm day.

Yelp
Was in town for 3 days for a beer festival and found Sticky Sweet! We went all 3 nights after dinner! Amazing! Loved all the flavors and the waffle cone was the best!

Yelp
This is the best ice cream in the state of Maine. The end. (Okay, I'll elaborate, but I'd be happy leaving my review there.) I don't really go out for ice cream anymore because dairy just doesn't make me feel very good. Enter Sticky Sweet. Their website says "The best plant based ice cream you've ever tasted." But I think they could just say "the best ice cream you've ever tasted," because this stuff is perfection. It's 100% vegan and 100% gluten-free, made from scratch, made with love, served with a smile and an authentic love of the community. I'm immediately obsessed. It's the creamiest ice cream I've ever had. It's the most flavorful ice cream I've ever had. It's the most chunky-with-ingredients ice cream I've ever had. Oh, and that maple sea salt? I've never had something so maplely or salty and I need it in my life every single day forever please. You can walk up to their window on Cumberland Ave, currently open Thursday through Sunday 2pm to 9pm (or until they sell out... and they sell out, so plan accordingly). If you're seeing them in person, get the waffle cone. GET THE WAFFLE CONE. And bring me one, please. [You can also buy select pints at the Portland Food Coop, Lois', Monte's, Morning Glory (in Brunswick), and Royal River Natural Foods (in Yarmouth).]

Yelp
So we stopped here after dinner for dessert. We walked right up and ordered. I had choc chip cookie dough on a waffle cone and Patty got Strawberry jam on a sugar cone total was $14.05 for 2 small ice cream. It was very delicious, service and product was very good Thanks for a lovely nightcap
google avatar

Kristin M.

Yelp
Go every day and try all the flavors. I am floored at how good the vegan flavors are. If you have ever tried Frankie and Jo's on the west coast, THIS ice cream is way better. I should have bought a pint. Run don't walk. And tip well :)

Yelp
I still think about my time here with friends. It's such a sweet experience. The staff is beyond nice - friendly, patient and just chill. Love that it sets the tone for your experience. It's a walk up window - You can call ahead to reserve pints sometimes, which is cool when they have a flavor you might love. I'm still blown away at how his is VEGAN!?! It's certainly not low calorie - it's decadent. The rich flavors from fruit flavors to heavy rich, peanut butter chocolate and also maple. They have something for everyone. The prices are very reasonable, especially for something that is handcrafted, small batch and unique. I highly recommend trying Sticky Sweet.

Sherry D.

Yelp
Cute place with fast and friendly Window Service. The best ice cream I've ever had!!! I ordered a fresh made waffle cone with a single scoop of Raspberry Jam. Wow!! So delicious and creamy!! Will be back for sure.

Yelp
If you are looking for homemade vegan ice cream, this is the place to be. The owners were the sweetest ever and the ice cream was heavenly. If you have dogs, they have pup cups available.
google avatar

Steph J.

Yelp
This was my first taste of vegan ice cream and I was thoroughly impressed. The texture, sweetness, the flavors galore. I got the peanut butter cookie flavor which is somehow vegan and it was just the right amount of peanut butter goodness with a nice bite. Super creamy and a little more addicting because there was some definite salt flavor there as well. Maybe that's the secret - the salt balance. Anyway did a taste of a few flavors and honestly next time I'd try to the lemon cheesecake flavor. It was refreshing (perfect for a hot day), tangy, and creamy. I think my mind is definitely more open to vegan ice creams after this. Call me a "traditional" ice cream snob, no more.

Yelp
Worth a visit when in Portland ME. Ice cream was amazing and the service was fast and friendly. I had the salted maple ice cream and loved it. Can't wait to go back and try more flavors!! Thanks

Yelp
Plant based ice cream was so good! It's hard to find places around the US that even have a small amount of vegan/plantbased options. I had the peanut butter cookie sundae in a waffle bowl...that's right, a plant based waffle bowl!! Whipped cream, beet root sprinkles, etc. Everything I wanted in a sundae! Anytime I'm in portland, I'll always stop by for more treats!

Ray B.

Yelp
I was once a big fan of sticky sweet, but unfortunately it hasn't held up. their prices are insane and they are literally never open. I have gone there countless times when their website says they should be open and they are closed. it's really a terrible way to run a business. while i once enjoyed chatting with the owners, I have found they have become rude and are not welcoming and seem more concerned with their own needs than their customers.
google avatar

Chelsea M.

Yelp
I had the maple sea salt in their homemade waffle cone and it was delightful! Adorable shop with friendly service, too - and they have samples!

David M.

Yelp
The ice cream is phenomenally good! The employees are earnest and skilled. Cute neighborhood and environs. Perfect place for a cone and you will find that it tastes better than real ice cream!
google avatar

Joseph W.

Yelp
Honestly my fave vegan ice cream on the East Coast. Doesn't even matter what flavor, everything here is so good. Their cones are also hard to beat. Friendly staff, too -- I love everything about these folks!
google avatar

Jenna R.

Yelp
So they have the vegan thing going for them! Smart idea because there isn't one around here. I got the dark chocolate chip, it's too sugary and salty!!! I got a pint, need to chug water after.

Megan H.

Yelp
My partner and I really wanted to love this place as he is vegan and gluten free. One of the flavors he got was carrot cake and that was the best part. Everything else either didn't have much flavor or, in my case, was overpowered by salt. My order (coffee and cookies I think) was so unbelievably salty I wasn't able to finish it and it hurt my mouth. The staff were very nice but for the price point this shop is not worth the cost.

Nicole G.

Yelp
A MUST every time I am in the Portland area. The ice cream is absolutely delicious and made of ingredients you can feel good about. Everything is vegan and gluten free! AMAZING
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Please stop what you are doing and go buy a scoop of the pumpkin ginger pie ice cream! I absolutely LOVED it! The cone was excellent too! I happened upon this little hidden gem after having dinner and it was lovely. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
To keep things in perspective, I ate my sticky sweet ice cream after a breakfast of solely doughnuts, so I wasn't exactly craving sugar. The shop was just too cute to resist and I'm a sucker for trying new vegan ice creams. I ordered the sea salted maple in a cone, and I finished every. last. bite. The ice cream has such a creamy texture, and the salted maple was surprisingly not overly sweet. I don't normally like coconut based ice creams because I find the flavor of coconut overwhelming, but the cashew balanced the coconut flavor out well so I didn't mind it. The cone was crispy and lightly sweet and held together well despite being gluten free. Definitely try out Sticky Sweet! I will be back.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Delicious vegan ice cream. Most appeared to be made of cashew/coconut. The scoops we got didn't have any intruding flavors from the plant bases. We got dark chocolate, sea salt maple, apple pie, and peanut butter cookie. The apple pie, peanut butter, and dark chocolate were group favorites. Sea salt maple became more salty the more we had it and was a bit overpowering. Overall great experience, 10/10 would recommend!
google avatar

Meghan K.

Yelp
I've been trying to go dairy free for the past few weeks, but I got a hankering for ice cream recently! Thank goodness for Sticky Sweet because it completely satisfied my craving. The employee was so pleasant and the walk-up window is such a cute (and safe) feature! Though a little pricey it's completely worth it. The cookies and cream with the homemade waffle cone was to die for. I'll happily be going again and again--and maybe even buying some pints at the Co-op!

Yelp
Sticky Sweet stands proud in the city of Old Port and is a testament to the power to the plant based movement. With a changing menu of plant based ice cream flavors offered from a covid safe window, I would say I'd recommend to a vegan friend. As plant based ice cream goes it was shockingly creamy. I attended with my lover and we sampled a variety of flavors. By this I mean we ordered four full scoops. Good dairy free ice cream is a rarity... don't judge for indulging. Let me describe the flavors for you beloved reader... Mint Cookie Crumble: 8/10 let's start by saying that the mint ice cream was not green. I resent any mint ice cream that's not green. I don't give a sheet about the unnaturalness of green food dye. It makes it better. Otherwise solid flavor. Naked Dark chocolate: 6.5/10 very good! But super rich. Aggressively rich. Jeff Bezos post pandemic pre divorce level rich. More than a few bites is too much. But mixed with another flavor on Sticky Sweets wooden spoon... much better. I recommend half scoop. But if your just getting 1 half scoop of ice cream you're a fucking pussy. Baked Latte or some name like that: 7/10 Good solid coffee ice cream. Nothing more to say. Sea Salt Maple: 7.5/10 Lover liked it more. It was good and mapley. I feel like you gotta get something mapley while your in Maine. Mapley is not a real word. I would have gone more maple and less salt. Good experience at Sticky Sweets. Resulting in a 4 star rating. Stay hungry, not hangry.
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
the vegan ice cream is one of the best that i have tasted. i got the peanut butter cookie flavor that is somehow vegan and super creamy. the only downside is the sugar content but the richness requires only a few bites to feel satisfied.

Yelp
Sticky Sweet is a *sweet* Maine women-owned operation, and they have earned my business. When I saw the announcements for Sticky Sweet, I was excited and curious. After trying them soon after they opened, I wanted to wait to see if they worked out some kinks before reviewing. On my first visit to Sticky Sweet, I was loving the delicious Thai dessert with a Maine twist, but had some thoughts on the serving size, price point ($8), and limited menu. BUT they have expanded their menu and made some awesome changes since then! They now have two serving sizes, offer more fruit options (mango, banana, blueberry, strawberry), and they have added ice cream! I think they are being very deliberate about their growth, and I am excited about what else they will do in the future. I am a huge fan of mango sticky rice, in general, and theirs is sweetened with maple syrup. I basically lick the container to get every drop of goodness. Now their ice cream (dairy-free) is made with coconut milk and raw cashews - the cashews give it the "normal" creamy texture and I am loving it! I sampled sea salt maple and latte, both were delicious (and probably good together too). I got the latte, and it was a lovely afternoon pick-me-up! And to top it off, their staff is very friendly and open to answering your million questions about how things are made or listening to your story about why you like your coffee ice cream a bit melty (it tastes better that way!) As a small, local, handmade daily shop, their prices are to be expected, especially in the center of Portland, but they are a bit high for my budget. That said, they are delivering a great product and I will rotate them into my afternoon treat/dessert list. Give them a try if you haven't already!

Stephen S.

Yelp
Amazing vegan ice cream, with lots of flavors to choose from. Very friendly service too! Best to get two scoops of different flavors for best taste experience! I'm

Yelp
Reallllly good vegan, gluten-free ice cream. I have food allergies and it's so cool to have an ice cream place that I can actually eat at. I got the cookies and cream and it was so yummy. Really high-quality treat!

Jenny T.

Yelp
Got sea salted maple, this is incredibly salty!!! Never had super salty ice cream before so I was shocked and couldn't finish it... this is way saltier than ramen But service was fast and nice though!
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
When you are looking for a non-dairy, reasonably priced snack or dessert head over to sticky sweet! I've had sticky rice in the past, and it is one of my favorite desserts. What is unique about Sticky Sweet is that they give you a variety of fruit options to add to the rice strawberry, banana, blueberry and mango. I chose to try two separate combinations one with strawberry and banana, the other with mango and blueberry. Both were unbelievably delicious, sweet, creamy and came is eco friendly containers. I strongly recommend trying a combination of fruits Sticky Sweet is located in the Public Market House in Monument Square, and can be easily overlooked. After being unable to find the location (my uber driver was also confused), I lucky found it after 15 minutes of walking around in the rain THE GOOD: * All dairy free, yet still sweet and creamy * Reasonably priced * Eco friendly * Plenty of seating * Plenty of fruit in each plate * Great location with plenty to do THE BAD: * It can be difficult to locate

Yelp
Best vegan icecream I've had! The vegan icecream I usually have is more liquidy than regular icecream, closer to a soft serve. The icecream here was so smooth and rich! The portions were also great, and the owners were very sweet.
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
I am obsessed with Sticky Sweet. I am a huge ice cream fanatic and was not sure how I felt about plant based ice cream but let me tell you - it did not disappoint. The flavors are so rich and decadent. The ice cream is soooo creamy and smooth. The flavors that have add ins are heavily mixed in and not skimped on (also all made from scratch in house). The gluten free waffle cone is also not to be missed! Favorite flavors so far include cinnamon sugar cookie and Maine maple sea salt Run, don't walk! Except really... be sure to run because they sell out quickly.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
My wife and I were vacationing and wanted to find a dessert place for an after-dinner treat. Since my wife has a dairy allergy, it's difficult to find a location that serves delicious dairy-free ice cream. It's not hard to find somewhere that will serve vegan desserts, but finding something that is vegan and delicious is the challenge. Sticky Sweet knocks it out of the park! I can honestly say that they served the BEST vegan ice cream we have ever had. If it were not in writing, we would have thought they were serving full cream ice cream. Ben and Jerry's can learn something from Sticky Sweet. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Very cute set up and pretty good ice cream! I had the mint brownie bite and it was just right. If I ever come back to Maine I'd love to try the other flavors.

Yelp
As part of a food tour of Portland, we stopped in at the Public Market House and got a tasting of the offerings of Sticky Sweet. Fledging business, created and run by two sisters, is taking advantage of the community kitchen and stall rental at the Public Market House as they get their business up and running. Ashley Dow, one of the sisters/owners, spoke to our tour about her passion for the dish that was the inspiration for the business and her love of Portland. We also got a little sample of the sticky rice with fresh Maine blueberries - it was delicious and slightly sweet. I wish these industrious women much success in the future. If you're nearby, stop by for a sweet treat!
google avatar

Yelp
What can I say but awesome. Never been to an all vegan ice cream shop. You can tell they put a lot of care into there ice cream. Flavors are really fun and delicious. They make their own waffle cones/ cups to order which is really cool. They are very environmentally focused to boot which is a big thumbs up. Wishing them much success.

Kam B.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I LOVE DAIRY. Plant-based ice cream for the win! It is rich, flavorful, and has a wonderfully smooth texture. It looked and tasted decadent, and I wouldn't have imagined that it was non-dairy. Unbelievable! Sticky Sweet is my favorite spot in Maine (and I grew up here), and the owner / operators are two ambitious women with their very own incredible plant-based recipes. My daughter and I sampled all of the flavors, and if we had bigger bellies, we would have gotten a scoop of each. I ended up with the peanut butter, and my daughter got pumpkin ginger (sophisticated palate for a 6 year old). The small shop is very well laid-out, and I love the colors! It's the quintessential Maine experience, with a very chic vibe, and lots of warmth. There's nothing commercial about the place, and everything is compostable! Sticky Sweet: Please get pints (Gallons? Oceans?) distributed throughout the U.S.! My only dislike is that someone on here gave Sticky Sweet less than 5 stars! Call the asylum, its missing these 4 star sociopaths.

Jessica E.

Yelp
So happy to find this little gem! What a treat for a vegan girl to be able to pick absolutely anything off a menu. The staff was very friendly and I appreciate their attempts to use eco-friendly dishes, utensils, etc. We'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
From out of the area and looking for something different. Found this awesome little plant based ice cream shop. Nice selection of flavors on the menu. Staff were helpful explaining everything. Little sitting area and good tunes playing. Will be stopping by here first next time we are in the area.

Yelp
My partner and I were so excited to find a vegan ice cream/sticky rice restaurant in Portland. Even better, was that we were completely blown away by how delicious the vegan ice cream and vegan mango sticky rice was! This was some of the best ice cream we have had even including ice cream before going Vegan (went vegan 4 yes ago). I had the cinnamon cookie dough which was so smooth and rich. I also ordered it in the waffle cone which was by far one of the best fresh waffle cones I've ever had (my partner liked it and she does not even like waffle cones, ever). My partner had the salted maple ice cream which was also very creamy and very delicious. It was a much milder flavor but still very good. We split the mango rice which was fresh and delightful. The lady who took and made our order was very friendly and helpful. She advised the ice cream and sticky rice is made fresh every day. It was pure joy to find this place. We only regret we cannot stay in Portland longer to keep coming back!

Yulia A.

Yelp
This is my favorite fresh waffle cone& ice cream place in Portland! Not only it is locally made and delicious, but is gluten free and vegan as well. The owners are wonderful and their product is amazing!
google avatar

Becky M.

Yelp
Delicious dessert, breakfast, snack, whatever you're craving. I've tried the mango and blueberry: both are amazing. The sticky rice is the right amount of sticky and the coconut milk is the right amount of sweet. Totally VEGAN. Their frozen ice cream made with cashews, coconut milk, coconut sugar, maple syrup and natural flavorings are also BOMB from what I've tried. Totally delicious. The "regular" size sticky rice is $8 which is a little bit steep, but for quality product and friendly service, worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
Sticky Sweet sounds like a place that is too good to be true but sometimes you really can have it all. A charming and cheerful spot with sparkling staff await to take your order. Everything we tasted was equally superb. Run don't walk to Sticky Sweet. You don't want to go another minute without savoring their delights!

Gina T.

Yelp
Excellent service and some of the best vegan ice cream I've ever had. Different flavors are available depending on the day, but I would highly recommend the sea salted maple with blueberry jam if possible!
