Stilwell Hotel

From the seamless check-in process to fresh pizzas, salads, and wines being prepared right in the courtyard, every detail of this hotel is flawless. The bath products smell incredible, the bedding is unbelievably soft, and the breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve ever experienced—elevated, abundant, and beautifully presented.||It’s clear the design and planning team thought through every detail. This hotel doesn’t miss a beat. The service feels like family—genuine, attentive, and focused on making sure you’re truly happy. It’s been a long time since I’ve experienced such consistent excellence in both hospitality and design.||The location couldn’t be better: my favorite Italian restaurant sits directly across the street (romantic, rustic, and absolutely charming), and the main street is just a block away. If I could give this property a 10 out of 5, I would.||I cannot wait to return. This is truly a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful hotel that sets the standard for what hospitality should be.

Truly one of the nicest hotels that we have stayed in. We needed an accessible room and it had the most comfortable furnishings. It was obviously carefully planned, with plenty of space for a wheelchair, even surfaces, bathroom with roll in shower and convenient handrails as well as easily reached shower control controls and shower chair. The whole hotel is designed in a modern style that I would love to copy for my home. Gorgeous landscaping with a waterfall. Breakfast looks like a high-end cruise buffet. Location is Central and our dinner was only a block away. Staff was welcoming and gracious. We will be back soon!

Overall great experience! The hotel is clean, the breakfast is wonderful, and you cannot beat the location. My only complaint is that the cocktails are not fresh, but from a machine. I think the whole experienced could be elevated if they made fresh cocktails, instead of just putting a pod in a machine. But everything else was wonderful. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side but if you're out and about its fine, and the bathroom was spacious. We really enjoyed our stay overall (just would've liked to have been offered a drink when checking in).

Overall good, but staying with an infant had a few issues: 1. Laundry room smell inside the room. It’s fine for adults but baby did not like it. 2. Light activated by sensors. Bad idea when getting up middle of the night, wakes up baby. 3. Some outlets turned on / off arbitrarily. On the plus size, room was quiet, air conditioned, and breakfast was fresh and good. Would still recommend!

Wonderful experience from start to finish. We booked the courtyard suite which had 2 king beds and a pullout sofa. One of the king beds had its own master bedroom creating lots of privacy. The happy hour around the fire pits was wonderful for gathering together and mingling with the other guests. Very friendly and helpful staff. Super clean. Warm, contemporary decor. Nice complimentary breakfast. Highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed at the Stilwell for a couple nights while visiting Carmel. The location was very convenient to all the shops and restaurants, and the vibe was very chill. The rooms were clean and well appointed, and the staff were also friendly and accommodating! One thing I do wish they had were better towels, as they were thin, and not very very soft.

Great location and excellent breakfast. The courtyard is well designed and with nice plants and fireplaces with nice seating areas. The staff is friendly. The attention to detail seems to be lacking in rather surprising areas for a hotel of this caliber. The sheets were polyester, the shower had little water pressure, the cocktails were mediocre at best as they were made from a capsule machine, and things were not picked up around the property in a prompt fashion. Overall lacking the luxury hotel professionalism.

Great couples trip! Stilwell was very nice, room and bed very comfy, great breakfast every morning…different savory treats each day. Very clean and new. Wine and charcuterie outside by fire pits on comfy couches with blankets. Ideal location in downtown Carmel walkable to beach

Wonderful stay at this hotel. Very clean and modern. Didn't seem or feel like a updated motel! They had a free ice cream social and then there is a nice breakfast provided in the morning. Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the outdoor water art and fireplace. They even have a menu that you can order pizza! Very close to shops and restaurants that are within walking distance. It's a really nice luxurious hotel and on the pricier side. But, its well worth the money if you willing to splurge! I will be back!

This is officially one of my favorite places in the entire world. The hotel is recently renovated and the rooms are stunning. Beautiful high end decor and materials. I was so beyond impressed. The service is also top tier and everyone went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied and comfortable on the trip. 10/10 recommend. ALSO!!! The room service from the pizza cafe was INCREDIBLE. We ate at Casanova which is so highly rated but personally felt overpriced since the food was very blah. This food was so fresh and delicious. The best end to our weekend.

Beautiful place to stay in Carmel. Staff & service was top notch! We loved the variaty of breakfast tapas served every morning (included with your stay.) The homemade pizza offered on the evening menu in the patio by the firepits was delicious and a nice relaxing ending to a day of beach walks and hikes! We absolutly enjoyed our stay here and will be back! And dog a friendly hotel, they were so accomodating to our dog on our stay. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with a clean, modern aesthetic that adds to the charm of this cozy stay. While the rooms are motel-sized, they have been thoughtfully upgraded for a more comfortable and luxe experience. The location is unbeatable - just a short walk from all the wonderful shops and restaurants that make Carmel so special. They offer a wholesome, complimentary breakfast - a great way to start each day. A particularly thoughtful touch was the warm welcome extended to my pup. Upon check-in, they provided him with a bag of treats, and I appreciated the availability of filtered water throughout the property. They have a beautiful lounging area with fire pits and include complimentary blankets for your fur children. Their pet-friendly approach was a nice touch, however on the final evening of my three night stay, a front desk attendant I hadn't encountered before reprimanded me for allowing my dog to relieve himself on the property. It was only then that I learned there was a designated puppy potty area behind the hotel - something I was never informed of during my stay. The attendant's abrupt statement, "I can't have him use the bathroom on the property," left a sour note on an otherwise pleasant visit. Despite this minor hiccup, the hotel offers a comfortable stay with nice amenities, and I'd consider returning--hopefully with clearer communication next time regarding their pet policies.

Absolutely fabulous luxury boutique hotel located within the Carmel downtown district. We had two rooms for three nights in mid July staying in rooms 17 and 22. While not cheap (even budget hotels in Carmel are $300/night or more), the Stilwell ranks as one of our favorite stays in our frequent travels. The large quiet rooms featured hardwood floors, totally updated bathrooms, fantastic bath amenities (from Lather) tons of accessible power ports and comfy bed with quiet AC-what more could you want? And yet there's more to love including an amazing and varied free breakfast with hot and cold items freshly prepared and ready; ample FREE parking in their lot and lots of cozy outdoor spaces with couches and fire tables where you can enjoy a drink or lite snack after five.its also just beautiful with verdant succulents and water features throughout the courtyard spaces. The friendly helpful staff was great too! Highly recommended

Great new hotel. Rooms were modern and the property was clean. I really liked the outdoor fire pits and seating arrangement. I enjoyed the small plate complimentary breakfast. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Great location and walking distance to shops and restaurants.

This review is going to have a White Lotus vibe, but my efforts to speak privately to management failed. Despite several messages, they have not called me back. We checked in around 3 pm on February 1 for my partner's birthday. We were informed the room was not ready. No biggie. We had plans to grab a drink and bite nearby. I paid the remainder for the room and gave all the check in information. A wonderful young bellman came out and offered a glass of bubbles. The reception lady snapped at him. She told him they aren't checking in and can't have a drink. Wow. Again, sorry for sounding like a privilege problem, but after dropping over $700 for room, my expectations were higher. When we returned to check in, we discovered the reception lady had not recorded any of our information. The hotal is gorgeous, and the breakfast spread is lovely. The service and managment - not so much. Consider this when picking a hotel in Carmel.

The Stilwell property is beautiful, comfortable, offers terrific amenities and is in a good location and has a fantastic staff! We enjoyed returning after dinner and walk to the cozy fire pits waiting with blankets in courtyard. And then we'd head to the little lobby for some tea with the offered little electric tea kettle to bring back to our room. The grounds are beautiful, and well maintained and the hotel room and bathroom were beautifully done and well sized. The staff went above and beyond to assist us in resolving a planned activity off property which were so touched and appreciative for. Highly recommend, and we'll be back!

Exceptional. Hospitality from the staff was above and beyond-- we were greeted with a glass of champagne and our names were remembered throughout our stay. The outdoor gathering spaces are serene, modern yet cozy, and thoughtfully designed with multiple fire pits and comfy furniture. The rooms are spotless and have unbelievably cozy linens. Breakfast each morning was a delicious assortment of small bites. Conveniently located close to everything, we didn't move our car once during our stay. They have plenty of parking which is usually hard to come by in Carmel. Despite being some of the very first guests to stay here opening weekend, everything about our time here went off without a hitch. We look forward to coming back!

Very nice hotel, updated beautifully! We had a wonderful experience during our two-night stay at this boutique hotel. The hotel is clean and newly updated, and the friendly staff really enhances the experience. The atmosphere is relaxing, with fire pits and a pizza oven, along with cocktail service and relaxing music in the courtyard, which adds a unique touch. There are plenty of nearby restaurants for dining options. 2 chargers in parking lot for electric vehicles. Comfortable beds and luxury hand soaps and shampoos are definitely the icing on the cake. I would definitely recommend this hotel!!

Everything was great! We have been to this same hotel several times prior to its renovation and renaming. What an improvement! Beautiful rooms and common areas. We especially loved the breakfast which consisted of small plates of healthy, tasty options different than I've ever had at other hotels. I would have rated the stay 5 stars but one of the front desk staff felt it was necessary to charge us for 5 people for a suite when one of our party is not even 3 years old and did not require a roll away--he simply slept in a bed which was plenty big. Nevertheless, the manager corrected this judgement call after referencing their own website. Shout out to my wife for mitigating and to the manager. Overall, loved it.

My new favorite spot to stay in Carmel! Recently opened so everything is new, clean and modern. They had plenty of friendly staff eager to help and even had complimentary champagne at check in. Extra bonus not only is parking included with no hidden resort fees, but pets are welcome for a minimal charge! Location is perfect for walking all over downtown and even to the beach without having to worry about finding parking. The included breakfast is far from standard "continental" fare. Every morning was a treat to go see what was being served that day. Varieties of fresh smoothies, muffins, scones, bread, egg dishes, yogurts, fruits, granolas etc. They had fresh water and fruit in the room and super comfortable bed, pillows and extra blankets. The bathroom was wonderful as well since it was all brand new, beautiful marble, huge shower, well-lit vanity with counter space. They also had motion lights under the bed and in the bathroom. The outdoor common areas had plenty of seating, water features and fires at night. There was some outdoor music as well. My only flaw or suggestion for improvement is to cut the music off earlier, one night it went until at least midnight. The lights in the commons areas also would have been nice if they could have dimmed later in the evening when people are going to bed. But over all this is a wonderful hotel and I'm already looking for dates to return! There's also a pizza oven in the courtyard area that I hope to try next time.

Just stayed last weekend for 5 nights. Our first room was too small so we upgraded and the room was great. Staff is exceptional and I don't say that lightly. Breakfast awesome. The more I think about it, now that I home in NJ-it really was great. We know the area well and this was a great trip. Will stay again when we are in the area.

What an amazing place to stay! Staff was always on top of it and extremely helpful-very inviting-. Breakfast was nice and light with alot of cold and hot selection. Really nice atmosphere at night to relax around one of the many fireplaces outside with comfortable seating with a great wine selection. Super clean and the Beds were very comfortable ! Upon check-in I was greeted by the friendly staff in a soothing, chic, and stylish lobby. Rooms are well appointed; I was especially pleased with the design aesthetic of the finishes and soft goods selected in my room and throughout the property. The outdoor patio and garden areas are serene, sexy, and a perfect place to grab a glass of something and relax with a book or catch up with a friend (as I did). The downtown location makes it easy to forego a car, as restaurants, shops and the sand / water are within walking distance. It is my understanding that pizza oven evenings and live music will be happening on property, and I cannot wait to partake in that fun upon my return to The Stilwell.
