With hearty food, good portions, campy décor, energetic and friendly wait staff, Stinky's is a must-stop if you're in the area.
We tried the:
*Spiced and steamed oysters (market price, around $27 for 12 oysters when we were there) - Perfect option if you don't want fried oysters, but you're scared about having them raw. Comes with butter, Cajun seasoning, cocktail sauce, horseradish, hot sauce, and lemon
*Seafood and corn chowder ($9) - Chock-full of seafood, this creamy chowder was delicious and well-suited for a chilly December evening. They did not skimp on the ingredients; there were tons of shrimp and fish in there!
*Stinky's fowl gumbo ($9) - Thick and hearty gumbo, the way it's supposed to be (from someone that lives in New Orleans)! This was a fantastic gumbo; smoky flavor with a little kick turning up the heat. It was packed with chicken, duck, and a house andouille sausage.
*Blackened shrimp basket ($23) - More of a plate than a basket, but you won't regret ordering it when you try it! The shrimp here might be the most succulent, tender, juicy shrimp I've had in a long time. Phenomenal shrimp! They serve a decent amount of it with the meal too. The shrimp comes with perfectly crispy seasoned fries, 2 crawfish hushpuppies, smoked tomato tartar sauce (much better thab the usual boring tartar sauce), and a tropical fruit coleslaw. Every single item that comes with this "basket" was flavorful and just really delicious.
I highly recommend Stinky's Fish Camp if you're looking for a place to eat tonight!
