My friend and I found ourselves in Charlotte for a concert our daughters were attending. While they were at the show, we had some time to kill—and what started as a mission for good food quickly turned into a search for great drinks too (with food still being a high priority, of course).
We stumbled across a place called STIR, and let me just say—it did not disappoint.
It was a Wednesday night, so the vibe was relaxed, not overly packed. We were warmly greeted at the door and then met our waiter, who let us know that everything in the kitchen was made fresh. That was music to my ears.
I’d never tried raw oysters before, but I decided to ease in with the Char-Broiled Oysters—six perfectly cooked oysters topped with lemon, scampi butter, shallots, red pepper flakes, and Parmesan. They were delicious. My friend ordered the Steak Bao Sliders with soft bao buns, seared beef, soy glaze, carrots, and cucumber—also a hit.
When it came to the main course, I was torn between a halibut dish and the filet with goat cheese ravioli. Our waiter recommended the ravioli, and I’m so glad I took the suggestion. It was a fantastic choice. My friend went with the grilled salmon, which looked just as amazing as it tasted.
The restaurant had a clean, modern atmosphere with great energy, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Our waiter became even more personable as the evening went on, and though we lingered at our table for a while, we never felt rushed—just relaxed and well taken care of.
We also ordered a couple of cocktails—don’t remember the names, but trust me, the drink menu is solid. Great selections across the board.
All in all, I’d absolutely recommend STIR to anyone looking for a well-rounded dining and drink experience in Charlotte. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying something new next time!
