"We often fight over whether this cozy spot on Melrose is more of a wine bar, restaurant, or casual hangout spot. The answer is it’s all three—and that’s why we love it so much. Come any night of the week and you’ll spot friends sprawled on the front patio sipping funky Slovenian riesling, dates snacking on dishes like king salmon crudo and celery salad, and up-and-coming comedians secretly hoping you come up and say something. The whole place feels less like a traditional wine bar and more like a green room after-party at an indie film festival.  " - nikko duren, brant cox, arden shore, sylvio martins

"When the current form of Stir Crazy first opened on Melrose, it gave the neighborhood the kind of chilled-out wine bar you’d find in Echo Park or a repurposed shipping container by the river. Which is to say, there’s lots of natural wine, snacky food like celery salads and anchovies, and tables filled with up-and-coming comedians with Netflix specials in the works. Those things are still there, only now the food menu is bigger, so if you want a full dinner experience, you can have one. Standout dishes include the rockfish carpaccio in brown butter, bratwurst-y sausages and buttery potato salad, and flaky black cod….in a bath of butter. Maybe you sense a theme." - brant cox

"Spending time at this laidback wine bar on Melrose is not so different than crashing a green room after-party at The Largo. Half of the place fills with people who have Netflix comedy specials in the works, while the rest of the crowd drinks funky French riesling with reckless abandon. The menu skews snacky, with stuff like marinated tomatoes, serrano ham, and a particularly delicious plate of anchovies. So instead of planning a full dinner experience, do as the locals do: go to Stir Crazy for great wine, great music, and the kind of marathon hang that ends with you leaving your car overnight.
