Flashy Steakhouse STK Stages a Surprise Return to D.C. | Eater DC

"The glam, surf-and-turf conglomerate STK, known for planting outposts in posh cities like NYC, Ibiza, South Beach, Vegas, and Dubai, is making another attempt in D.C.; billed as a “modern steakhouse and a chic lounge,” it will open in Mt. Vernon Triangle’s massive Marriott Marquis hotel at 901 Massachusetts Avenue NW. My takeaway is that the scene-y concept centers around splurges — Japanese wagyu, dry-aged steaks, lobster linguini — along with a raw bar, “power lunch” and happy hour menus; the new location is listed to seat 100 inside and 76 alfresco. STK’s previous D.C. effort flopped in 2016 after a two-year run at another Northwest address, and during that short tenure it faced some criticism for its “female-friendly” stereotyping theme. The brand comes from ONE Group, a global hospitality company behind several polished concepts." - Tierney Plumb

Much-Acclaimed Oakland Restaurant Horn BBQ Subject of Myriad Workplace Complaints | Eater SF

"I'm reporting that employees of STK Steakhouse filed a class-action lawsuit on October 7 alleging wage theft, illegal tip distribution, and a toxic workplace culture, including instances when staff reportedly worked 14-hour days with no overtime pay; the San Francisco Chronicle spoke to six current and former workers (three of whom are plaintiffs), and the restaurant, which opened in September, did not respond to the paper's request for comment." - Paolo Bicchieri

First time having dinner at STK and I was highly impressed. Everyone usually talks about happy hour, but dinner truly exceeded expectations. We tried the holiday menu and everything was delicious—turkey, lobster, ribeye, duck, and the holiday drinks were all on point. The duck was my favorite bite of the night, and the Wagyu dumplings are phenomenal—definitely a must-order. Shoutout to our server Dylan, who was delightful and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. I’d absolutely return and already have my eye on trying the Wagyu fried rice next time.

Heyyyyyy!! We came on Veteran's Day to take advantage of the deal, and our friend wanted to try it. I have never been. Eric was our server and he was great! We were NOT in a rush and the place was busy! We packed our patience and honestly, anything we were looking for came right on time. See the pics for what we ordered. Everything was seasoned perfectly with no need for adjustments. I think the ONLY thing I was a little disappointed in was the size of the appetizers. Otherwise, I finished my main dish (IYKYK!). I could not finish my creamed spinach. We lounged at the table and ordered more drinks, no one gave us long eyes! We enjoyed it! Oh the wine was moscato, the cocktail ordered was the guava berry. MAKE A RESY or you may not get in. It's a busy spot! There is bar seating but happy hour is popular so you might not get in. Also, remember the restaurant is in the same building as the Marriott. If you can, use the Marriott valet.

STK Steakhouse in Washington D.C. certainly delivers on its reputation for a vibrant atmosphere, but my dining experience offered a genuine high point contrasted with a subtle culinary letdown. The undeniable star of the entire meal was the appetizer bread. This complimentary offering is truly deserving of all the praise it receives. Served warm, the buttery rolls—often accompanied by a delicious blue cheese butter and pesto—were absolutely phenomenal. They were soft, rich, and addictive, setting an incredibly high bar for the rest of the meal and proving that sometimes, the simplest things are executed best. Moving on to the main event, I ordered the dry-aged porterhouse, a substantial and impressive cut that promised a powerhouse of flavor. The quality of the meat was clearly top-tier; it was cooked perfectly to the requested temperature and had a tender, rich texture. However, despite the quality and the dry-aging process, the porterhouse lacked a punch in flavor, in my honest opinion (imo). The steak felt surprisingly understated. I was expecting that deep, intense, nutty umami kick often associated with premium dry-aged beef, but it simply wasn't there. It needed a more aggressive seasoning or a bolder sear to truly bring the flavor to the forefront. In summary, STK DC provides a great vibe and serves a spectacular appetizer bread that could stand alone as a craving. While the dry-aged porterhouse delivered on quality and texture, it could benefit from a flavor profile that matches its premium price tag and impressive appearance.

Upon arrival with prior reservations made. The lack of common greeting courtesy can not be ignored.! We was waiting to be seated with no communication by the guest relations young lady at the front at the arrival. Finally, After being seated for over (10-15 minutes) with no server. I flagged down a manager to address WHY, are we not being acknowledged. Now, after that was addressed, a waiter by standing said he would attend to us. Thankfully Marcus was attentive somewhat. He was very busy with numerous tables. However we ordered, and the food wait time was ( excessive) to the point one of my food items never came. The food was very good, ambience was nice. Just poor service from beginning to ending. We were sat in the midst of bar/ middle of the restaurant. Not a good experience.

After dining here with a friend, we both decided that it exceeded expectations for a restaurant inside a hotel. Walk inside the grand Marriott Marquis and go left. A neon sign directs you deep into a dimly-lit, but glowing restaurant with all the gimmicks from red bull statues to more neon lights. To feed two of us, we got the lobster mac and cheese, spring rolls, steak, asparagus, bread, shrimp scampi, butter cake, and more. What stood out are the steak with the wagyu butter, lobster mac and cheese, and the fun cloud butter cake. It comes out engulfed in cotton candy that the server lights on fire revealing the cake. The cocktail list is large with standard cocktails and more creative. They have something for all people from savory to sweet. Our server Dylan was excellent! All of his recommendations were spot on!

Best happy hour, best service, incredible dishes. Must try when you come. The baby gem Cesar salad is absolutely scrumptious. Can here several times for birthdays, general get together and such, sitting at the bar. The service and staff are super friendly and helpful. Every dish is tasty!

Had reservations there for my birthday was super excited to try this place. While putting our order for appetizers my husband let them know that I have a shellfish allergy our server let us know about the risk of cross-contamination when it came to the appetizers because because they use the same deep fryer for the shrimp they use for the rest of appetizers we order the steak and cheese egg rolls and the calamari for appetizers they both came out cold my husband ordered the salmon and that was it was overcooked even after being asked how he would like it cooked. Our server Tarik was amazing he recommended some lovely drinks for us which is the only thing that saved our whole dining experience they end up giving us two drink tickets after speaking with the managers but it's very unlikely that we will ever go back.

Oh my dear waiter Dylan!!!! We both had a brief rough start with each other but baby, after a quick acknowledgement that it was off, we breezes on to the best Brunch! He took amazing care of us and the food was everything. Let's start with that Ceasar salad😋😋 I would eat that as a meal. 🦞 lobster tails with truffle butter that was warmed up on top of the lobster at the table was spectacular. Large 7 oz tail of deliciousness. My husband really enjoyed his Delmonico dry aged steak but his only critique would be that it needed a little more seasoning. Not only will we be back for the food but for Dylan (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) as well!
