I’m a Bonvoy Gold member and stayed at the Stock Exchange Hotel in Manchester for the second time, but unfortunately, this visit fell far below expectations.||We were a group of 3 adults with two rooms booked, arriving a few hours before check-in. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an older concierge who made us feel unwelcome, repeatedly insisting we leave our luggage and return later, refusing to let me speak to reception directly. As a Gold member, I wanted to inquire about an upgrade (even if I paid for it), but he brushed me off and claimed the hotel was fully booked – despite availability showing on the app.||When we returned at check-in time, we waited 15 minutes before a receptionist approached us, immediately asking for payment without any greeting – which came across as rude and unprofessional. While the rooms were modern and clean (5-star by Manchester standards, but globally closer to 3-star), they were quite small. A minor issue with the water boiler was handled efficiently by a polite and helpful technician.||Overall, the location is excellent, and our stay was comfortable, but the service – especially at the front desk – was disappointing. Staff need better training in welcoming and recognizing loyal guests. Sadly, while my first stay here was excellent, this might be my last.
